We were there last night with four people (two adults and two children). The food was delicious, and I think the prices are really reasonable considering the location. However, we were particularly impressed by the service. They were incredibly friendly, attentive, and really went out of their way to look after the kids. We were able to order our food and drinks promptly, and we didn't have to wait long.

My fiancé and I loved this place, we couldn’t stop thinking about it so we are going back for a second meal on our trip. Anyone saying food is bland is highly incorrect.

I wanted to eat here with a friend; we both ordered a pizza. I went for a funghi pizza. After waiting half an hour for our food, I noticed that there were pieces of anchovy on half of my pizza. If there's one thing I find gross, it's fish, so I pointed this out to the wait staff. The wait staff apologized and gave me mint tea or coffee as compensation?? The pizza was also tough and not tasty at all. The staff is extremely arrogant and mean; don't go here. Walk past a place if you want to eat with pleasure. Weird place. The staff makes mean comments and loves to gossip. I also just had to shell out 70 euros for a gross pizza with anchovies that I didn't order; I didn't even get a discount.

The pizzas were tasty, but the service was terrible. It was very quiet, but impossible to get any contact with anyone.

A very disappointing experience. The staff seemed friendly at first, but after we paid, we noticed the total was much higher than expected. After some time, they told us they had added a 10% tip without asking us first, even though it wasn’t mandatory. If you go there, make sure to check your bill carefully. This kind of practice feels like a scam.

We had a delicious meal at one of the best spots in Utrecht (lovely on the Oudegracht), fast and friendly service, and we were even able to order a pizza that wasn't on the menu and was therefore made especially; what a wonderful evening we had.

Enjoying a pizza with delicious burrata on the banks of the canal in the evening sun is pure bliss, especially with a lovely glass of Chardonnay. A top-notch spot!

Very unfriendly waiter. My girlfriend had a drink. I didnt want to drink anything and then the waiter said annoyed: "so what are you coming here"... Meanwhile there were plenty of empty tables so it wasnt even an opportunity cost I was creating...

The Italian restaurant Il Pozzo is beautifully situated on the Oude Gracht canal; you can sit right by the water and watch the activity on the canal. The service was very attentive and friendly, and the pizzas we ordered were delicious.

The pizzas were factory-made with cervelat instead of salami; I took it off. Nasty slice of ham! The pasta was bad too! Absolutely not recommended.

The food was fine. The pasta carbonara had less flavor than I had hoped. The Limone seemed to have been in the freezer all day, because it was rock hard. The staff was quite slow due to the crowds and started arguing with guests, which is not polite. As a result, I lost my tip. The location is beautiful and the atmosphere is okay, provided there are enough guests.

Where do I start? It’s one of the best restaurants in Utrecht. Super friendly, quick service, and polite. The food? Absolutely tasty. And last but not least, nice view of the canal.

The fact that this shop is located on the Oude Gracht is the only reason they are still standing. After waiting 20 minutes and signaling two people, someone finally takes my order.

Definitely do not stop here if you want to eat and drink along the canal. The service is slow and the food is simply bad.

What a tasteless & greasy pizza. The location by the water is fantastic, but... jeez, what a sparsely topped pizza. 4 slices of salami and 1 thick slice of ham (without taste), and the grease was dripping off it. As a result, the base was completely soggy. Coke from the machine (no bottle on the table); no, this wasn't worth the money. We'll skip this one next time. Do you have any suggestions for value-for-money dining by the canal?

Great location for tourists. My date and I stopped in for a casual drink (wine and beer). We also ordered fries, but unfortunately they were very disappointing dry, stale-tasting, and not what we expected. We politely asked to return them, which is where things took a turn. The server became rude and defensive and insisted the fries were fine, refusing to even taste them when we suggested it. What really crossed the line was the way he then spoke to me and my partner, the language used was completely inappropriate, swearing and unprofessional for any customer-facing role. The location has real potential, but the experience we had was let down significantly by the service. Better staff training, especially around how to handle complaints calmly and respectfully, would go a long way. We won’t be returning, but hopefully management takes feedback like this serio

Good restaurant. It does take a long time to get a table when the weather is good. Beautiful location. Reservations on the terrace are not possible in advance.

I asked the Moroccan waiter if the meat was halal, and he said no, only the chicken was. I ordered chicken pasta, but when the order arrived, I was surprised to find it was spaghetti with meat. I told him it was meat, and he said the meat was halal, lying so he wouldn't have to return the order. I ended up changing it to shrimp spaghetti. Unfortunately, don't trust any restaurant that says it's halal unless they have a halal certificate.

It helps that the terrace has a large sunny surface area. But the food is peculiar in many respects. The food doesn't arrive at the same time (they weren't full and the table next to us was the same). You order a mozzarella pizza. It is literally just a Margherita with one piece of tomato and half a ball of mozzarella that is still cold from the fridge, just dropped right in the middle. And that for an extra charge of 🥁🥁🥁 €7.. Scandalous. The tortellini is dry and not well seasoned. I just feel sorry for myself for falling into this tourist trap.

We used to come here often, but not anymore.. Today we wanted to order a bottle of wine and dine there as well, but we weren't served. The reason was a nasty man serving us. Two 2-person tables next to each other, both with their own table number, and yet we weren't allowed to sit by the waterside as a pair. Table number 29. Only 4 people were allowed to sit here. Peculiar, why two different table numbers then? It's just a small 2-person table.. A little further back on the same terrace, there were plenty of 2 people sitting by the waterside; the "waiter's" answer was: that is my colleague's section, my rules apply here...

We went there to get some coffee and enjoy the cool spot directy at the canal, however, the service was sooo bad and the staff is so unfriendly. Didn't take the order for so long so that we had to tell them to take it. When we asked for an ashtray the man came and threw it on the table and scared the living hell out of us. And mind you we were ther just with another table (they weren't busy or sth, they were just the worst ever). Don't recommend!!!

The restaurant's location is fine. Nice by the canal. Unfortunately, the tables are very close together. You can't ignore the neighbors' conversation. The paninis were okay. The waiter who served us wasn't very friendly and charged us 2.50 euros too much afterwards. What a shame!!!

The restaurant has a nice location by the canal. However, it is not recommended. We ordered two Cokes and one Spa Red. The Cokes arrived reasonably quickly, but the Spa Red took a very long time. After asking once, it took a while longer, but it eventually arrived. Incidentally, one of us received her sandwich before the Spa Red even arrived. The rest of the food took a long time to arrive. After a while, the pizza arrived, and when that was almost finished, the pasta arrived. All in all, we didn't get a moment to eat together. The food was okay, though. That is, after all, what you go to a terrace for: to have a nice lunch together. I therefore consider this very poor service and not recommended.

Italian pizzeria. Something more decent to eat for those of us from southern Europe in these parts

I was shopping in Utrecht for the day with a friend and we decided to eat here; what a mistake! To start with, we had to wait more than an hour for our food. My friend got her pasta, but I was still waiting for my pizza, so they didn't arrive at the same time. We asked a member of staff when my pizza would arrive, but the staff was anything but friendly and sociable. They were very grumpy and unhelpful. When I finally got my pizza after 20 minutes (which wasn't even warm), we immediately asked if we could pay. We had to ask again for a second time, and after paying, we left immediately. The surroundings were very beautiful and there is a lot of nice stuff to see, but that really is all there is to say about this place, ugh. A waste of my 40 euros.

Overpriced, bland food that uses ingredients that aren't fresh. One of the least tasty pizzas I have had in a long time. It's the type of pizza you can get at a local döner shop, but then 3 times the price. The location directly at Oudegracht is fantastic though. This place could be truly amazing if they just upped the quality of the food. Edit: was awake all night with terrible stomach pains and bloating because the dough wasn't properly fermented all the way, making it very hard to digest.

Lovely terrace on the canal! Went for just a quick beer. The terrace is under the sun and service was great. The leffe ruby beer was so great.

what a terrible place , there was NO hospitality. the waiter said it’s 50¢ for a napkin? and they kept disregarding us and the food is kinda expensive for a floppy pizza

The staff was friendly, the spot was quite nice and the food was okay but I did not appreciate the behavior when it came time to pay. We were not shown the bill, we were just told the number and got the bill only after asking for it. Turns out we were charged an extra 15 euro for service without being asked.

Be careful of being overcharged, avoid if you can, there are probably better restaurants around if you are in Utrecht for the day. Our experience: Food was ok (mediocre and a bit too expensive but ok) but the experience at the end was so scammy that nothing else mattered to us. Waiter was seemingly nice, but he came with the POS terminal only at first. When I realised that the receipt was not there and I asked for it, I had already paid. Turns out the tip that was added to our order “for our service” as he said, was 15 euros and we never approved it, we thought this was the bill only. Also the tip was NOT on the receipt as official service cost. This way they can probably get away with it as they can say you voluntarily left the tip. We will probably report this to relevant authorities so they can do their own checks. This left us with bad taste all afternoon and we were so shocked to say anything on the spot. The waiter probably relied on that. Never again.

I wanted margherita they gave me mozzarella pizza and charged me 7 euros more because of that. Additionally, the pizza was pretty bad. Also you cannot split the bill and the waiter was pretty rude about it.

The pizza was overpriced and tasted like nothing. It had the most random ingredients thrown on top and no seasoning. Who puts an egg on top of a pizza? A bottle of water costs more than 8€. The vibes are great but if you want to eat good food, avoid this place.

⸻ Review: The location and atmosphere were pleasant and cozy, which made the experience enjoyable in itself. We ordered a shrimp pasta paired with salmon. We had expected the salmon to be incorporated into the pasta in pieces, but it turned out to be a larger piece of salmon on top of the pasta. There were also supposed to be mushrooms in it, but they were a bit harder to find. For us personally, the pasta was a bit on the heavy side and the flavor could have been richer; we added salt and pepper ourselves. Additionally, we found the sauce a bit thin; we had expected a creamier sauce, but that didn't really come through for us. All in all, it was a fine experience thanks to the nice location and atmosphere, but the dish didn't quite meet our expectations; I actually felt it was a waste of money!

Nice place, good food, friendly service. While we were sitting on the terrace, there was a rowing race on the canal. This made our visit even more enjoyable. I had already been here with colleagues from work after a visit to the trade fair. Because it was such a nice spot, we went there again. Utrecht is also a very (busy) but nice city; we visited it by bike.

Aperol Spritz Full of Ice, small and no taste. Coke without bubbles. Service ok, Location great. But not again for us. Just to expensive for lousy drinks

The service was curt and impersonal. Incorrect orders were frequently placed on tables. We ordered olives and a fresh bread roll with herb butter, which you would think couldn't go wrong. Yet it was inedible, and we left half of it. And that despite the fact that we were hungry and had actually eaten (almost) everything. We asked four waiters for the bill, and after a long wait, we finally just walked to the cashier ourselves. So, not recommended!!

Great location next to the canal. That's about it. Food is terrible, took them 50 minutes (no exaggeration) to bring us a pizza that tasted like frozen supermarket pizza.

This was honestly the worst pizza I've ever had in my life. They've opened a place by the river and are basically tricking people by calling it "Italian" just to take their money. The quality was terrible, and it even upset my stomach afterwards. You can also tell this is not a real Italian restaurant since they only offer one type of wine by the glass. It's beyond ridiculous. I highly recommend going across the street to Emilia instead, it's 1000 times better than this place. It was the worst pizza I have ever eaten in my life. They literally opened a shop by the river, they deceive people by saying it is Italian and take people's money. It was beyond awful, my stomach was on fire after this pizza, and you can understand that this is not a real Italian restaurant by the fact that they only serve 1 type of wine by the glass. They're doing an absolutely insane job; every cup and every plate they brought was a complete disaster. If you complain to the Utrecht municipality, they'll shut it down. Try Emilia across the street; it's 1000 times better.

I usually don’t do google reviews only rarely, but I had to since it was so bad, when we asked for the check they came with the payment machine and just charged us an amount of money which I for sure paid but then I asked for the check after I paid and then he brought it with 5€ less than the amount I paid, he puts it on the table and says the 5€ difference is a tip, I didn’t say a word cuz I was shocked I didn’t understand what he was saying at first cuz he said that even before I checked the bill, he said that and he walked away and 5 minutes after he came and put 5€ on the table and leaves. Always check your bill and I’m never going there again.

A nice restaurant by the river. We got a seat on the terrace and admired the river traffic and the geese show. The service was excellent and the food delicious.

Wonderful wonderful wonderful service, food, and location. They were able to accommodate our table of 10 right on the water, during a busy time, with no hesitation or complaint. Was probably the best meal I had during my 2 week tour through Europe.

We wanted to have a nice bite to eat and a drink. Until our big friend with his protruding, dirty chest hair (Nino) served us and threw the menu on the table. Then he went to a table with girls and was very sweet, politely handing them the menu. Gross. This was very unprofessional in my opinion. Extremely rude waiter. Threw the cutlery on our table and took away my drink before I finished drinking without even asking me. Extremely unpolite and just straight on arrogant. It's not like we did anything to him, as he was rude the second we sat down on the table. If I pay the price I paid for lunch and a drink (and the place surely is overprized) then I expect at least a decent service where I'm treated politely. We wanted to eat with three people, and this seemed like a nice spot. We then sat down at a table for four. Someone then came over and asked if we wanted to move because it was a table for six. We then went to sit somewhere else and were again told it was a table for eight (it was actually a table with four chairs). We were asked to move to a new table. Then we saw two people sitting at the same table as us.

The atmosphere is really nice with the canal and everything but food is the exact opposite. It’s basically a tourist scam. Pasta, pizza, lasagne… all bad. And one particular waiter was not really nice. I wouldn’t advise it to eat there

I always enjoy coming here. It's in a fantastic location by the water, with a heated terrace, making it a relaxing place even in spring and autumn. The food is good, and you can share a pizza. There's a good wine selection.

Dining at a beautiful location after a day in Utrecht… At least, that's what we thought. There was a table free by the water, but it was for four. We were moved three tables away. Well, pointed at, slightly forced, that didn't feel right. Just as we were about to leave, the waiter came to ask what we wanted to eat, but we ordered anyway, since we were still a bit early. Then a couple arrived, who naturally also wanted to sit by the water, and the table for four by the water was taken apart. I complained, probably a reservation, the waiter said… yeah, yeah, good excuse, sir! Our food arrived and my husband got what he ordered, but I got salmon, which I hadn't ordered. Oh well, it happens. Five minutes later, my dish arrived, also full of pride, you know… I had penne with tenderloin pieces, this one clearly didn't. A moment of frustration because my husband's food was almost finished. Shortly after, the dish arrived just as I had ordered. And honestly, it was absolutely delicious! But the whole thing, the way the staff acted? It was also strange that the staff were criticizing each other. He hasn't been working here long, as an example. "Yes, sir, you wrote down what we wanted to eat and then you say your colleague doesn't understand?" It was like being lured into vacation and having to accept it all. Horrible. Normally, I would never look at a menu to see what the food would cost, but I did anyway. A quick calculation showed it shouldn't cost more than 48 euros. It was 45 and a bit. We paid that, no tip. We were relieved to be able to leave. What a fiasco. I think there were people there yesterday who had a wonderful time, we certainly didn't. The waiter didn't even look us in the eye when we left; he was back to pushing people into their seats.
