First time eating here, and definitely not the last, it was delizioso! Lorenzo gave us excellent service throughout the evening. We had the Tagliolini al Parmigiano Tartufo, and the generous amount of cheese made it even better. Overall, a delicious meal and a great experience!

If you are looking for the Italian food quality, this is not the place for you: the portions are big but the quality and flavours are really disappointing, the food soaks in seed oil, pasta is overcooked, and the quality of the food is overall not so great, compare to a quite high price (e.g. 27 eur for a plate of pasta with butter and Parmesan). waiters try to do their best, and if you like some preparation show, more than what you eat, you may still find the place good, but definitely this is not a place where I would come back and the full experience is 2 stars from my point of view.

A very good Italian restaurant for years, top service, delicious food in a chic ambiance. It is a great place to be both inside and on the terrace! I love coming back here.

The food was super flavorful. We arrived a bit early, but the service was top-notch! However, when more tables arrived, our table was somewhat neglected. Not a huge deal, but it was noticeable compared to how we were received and served at the beginning of the evening.

One of the best Italian dining experiences I’ve had in Amsterdam. Everything from the atmosphere to the food and service felt elegant and well thought out. The pasta was fresh, full of flavor, and clearly made with high-quality ingredients. The staff were attentive without being overwhelming, and the whole place has that authentic Italian dinner vibe that makes you want to stay for hours with good food and wine 🍷🍝 Definitely a place worth coming back to for a proper Italian night out.

Very small portions for the price! I ordered a steak which was €38 euros for 180 grams! Came with potatoes but also charged extra. Tiramisu was €10 in a teeny tiny glass Not even a real dessert!! Really ridiculous! So many great restaurants in Amsterdam this was a big fail! “Carbon “steak house is the BEST 300 grams of the best steak.

Our last night in Amsterdam and we were advised to go to this restaurant. So glad we took the advice - my wife and I had the two course meal with an appetizer and a main course, both were amazing. The atmosphere is great and the service staff was spectacular….highly recommend going to the this restaurant.

Had an amazing lunch experience here with a larger group. Food was great and plentiful, we were all stuffed! Host was wonderful and really accommodating. Wine selection was also very nice. I had a great sweet wine. Would definitely recommend to eat here.

Superb is the right word to define our dinner at Impero Romano. All we tasted from the chefs' cuisine was absolutely scrumptious. We had risotto con asparagi e tartare di gamberi, truffle-sprinkled tagliolini ai formaggi dressed in a wheel of Parmigiano, branzino al sale, sgroppino as a dessert. The servings were generous and beautifully arranged, the flavours well balanced. Vincenzo and his staff really spoiled us with their kindness in this elegant location.

The location is really nice, with a very charming ambiance. The food is also very good and definitely worth trying. The only downside for me was the service. There are many staff members on the floor, but it’s quite difficult to get their attention when you need to order or ask for something. Once they are at the table, they are friendly and helpful, but they could improve by being more attentive and checking in on guests more often. Overall, I would recommend this place if you’re going for the food—but don’t expect great service.

Beautiful location, but we suffered from stomach pain after eating the pasta. Coincidentally, we both ordered something different, so we don't know what caused it. There was also a grim atmosphere upon entry.

I have rarely had such a disappointing experience. The antipasti, in particular, was truly shamefully bad. It was a complete mess: a handful of lettuce with five random slices of various things, presented without any garnish or attention. It just looked sad. Unfortunately, the main courses were not much better. Everything lacked flavor, as if the dishes had been prepared in haste. For a restaurant that claims to be Italian, you expect a bit more. The service also left a lot to be desired. The staff came across as uninterested and seemed to have little enthusiasm. There was hardly any attention paid to us, and the whole experience just felt impersonal. All in all, a very disappointing experience.

One of my worst experiences ever. As an Italian, I never expected not to finish my plate of pasta. It was way too dry and cold. Additionally, part of the order wasn't even brought. I am giving two stars because I didn't have to pay for the pasta, but I would have preferred to just pay and have a good meal — then I could have given a better review. Really disappointed.

The prices are way too high for the quality of the food. It feels a bit like a ‘tourist trap’, especially with the Parmigiano pasta made inside the cheese (overpriced). You can get the same type of food around the corner for lower prices. On top of that, they assume you will tip... nonsense in the Netherlands.

The pasta was overcooked. The desserts were disappointing: the chocolate fondant was only lukewarm and the accompanying gelato was too hard, while the tiramisu was almost entirely cream. A bit too expensive for the quality I was expecting.

The atmosphere is nice, but perhaps it would be better to eat something other than pasta in a parmesan wheel.

Great dinner! 🌟 The atmosphere is very chic/cozy, the staff mostly Italian and giving you that Milano feeling. I already came here a couple of times, because I can‘t get over the pasta con tartufo! So delicious! They make it right in front of your eyes in the huge cheese roll. The only (little) downside and why I don’t come every week, is that the menu is quite expensive. Which leaves it for special occasions ✨

Good food, service and atmosphere

Very average food, lacking flavor. Nothing outstanding. I ordered the truffle pasta, and it seemed like they forgot to add the truffle (especially after seeing other pictures).

5 star service - and their signature 'big cheese' tagliolini where they flambe everything by the table adds a delightful element of a little culinary theatre. One of the best meals I've ever had, genuinely!

We went here on a sunday for dinner. We went with the three and four course menus. The appetizer was nice, especially the vitello tonato, but the focaccia was a bit stale. The pasta, fish and meat were good but flavorwise not memorable. The service was attentive. I think that for the price there is better Italian food in Amsterdam, but this is just my preference.

If you choose the right dish, it's definitely a good place. The specialty pasta is delicious, as is the saltimbocca. Don't order the prawns; they were more like large scampi that hadn't seen any seasoning and, in my opinion, weren't even grilled. The tiramisu and panna cotta were delicious. The service was friendly but a bit clumsy. The place wasn't full, but it was noisy.

The staff is exceptionally friendly, warm, and always attentive without being intrusive. You feel welcome from the very first moment. The dishes are authentically Italian! We dined here on New Year's Eve. Upon arrival, the staff seemed rushed, and we missed the personal touch. We ordered pasta prepared in a large Parmesan cheese bowl. The taste was disappointing. The price is also far too high for the portion size and quality. You pay €36 for a pasta dish. As a dessert, we ordered scroppino, but it too wasn't very filling. It's a shame; I don't think we'll be back anytime soon.

I visited Impero Romano for dinner with my wife, my mother, and our 14-month-old baby to celebrate my mother’s birthday. The tagliolini al Parmigiano with truffle was good, and both my wife and my mother enjoyed it. However, even the house specialty felt overpriced, at 27 euros plus an additional 6 euros for the truffle. I ordered the linguine ai frutti di mare, which was okay but nothing special. The service was nothing special. Unfortunately, the experience ended on a very disappointing note. We were charged 27 euros for a very small portion of farfalle Verdi with butter for our baby, the same base price as the house specialty tagliolini al Parmigiano. I confirmed this with the waitress, who said the charge was correct. I then spoke with the manager and explained that I found this price abusive, especially for such a simple children’s portion, but his only response was “thanks for the feedback.” Because of this lack of consideration and flexibility, I won’t be returning to this restaurant.

The pasta tasted far below expectations. I found the restaurant extremely overpriced. They charged €6 extra per person for a few wafer-thinly grated truffle pieces, while you could barely find any in the creamy pasta. That's completely out of proportion to what you get. Ultimately, it's just pasta, not a luxury item. For me, that's reason enough not to return.

The food was delicious! I've been here before, but never reviewed it because I forget 🤭, but if you've never been, it's definitely worth it; the food is delicious! The atmosphere is nice, but parking is usually a bit of an issue. Sometimes you're lucky and find a spot right away, and sometimes you have to struggle to find one, but it's worth it for the food!

Been coming here for years it’s one of my favorite Italian spots in Amsterdam. If you’re having a birthday or if you’re going on a romantic date it’s suitable for every situation. The people are always very friendly and the food is amazing especially the salmon pasta which I strongly recommend. Most of the time this place is fully booked to book in advance !

The food is delicious and varied, and the atmosphere is pleasant and peaceful, perfect for a relaxed and enjoyable meal.

The atmosphere is pleasant, the service is incredibly kind and friendly. The food is fair to good. The food also arrives fairly quickly, but if you need something different, that's certainly possible. It's a nice place, great location, and I was able to park around the corner.

A restaurant where you can tick off every facet of the hospitality industry. The service adheres to etiquette rules but also keeps things light with Italian humor. The house red is excellent. The Impero antipasti features quality ingredients, recommended if you want to try several appetizers. The pasta prepared with Parmesan cheese is quite a heavy dish. It's perfect for sharing. The salmon pasta is delicious. The tiramisu could have been better, quite watery, and the ladyfingers very soft. In short, a pleasant experience and quality food.

The service, wine selections and atmosphere are 10/10 but the pasta was a bit too oily for me.

food was average and portions were good. bruschetta was stale and the ragu had very little sauce. parmesan and truffle pasta was good, but made my partner very sick. we were in and out in 45 minutes, which is way too quick for dinner. a bit overpriced.

We chose this place based on many recommendations, but unfortunately it didn’t fully live up to them. The vitello tonnato and ham were not the best quality, and the pasta felt quite heavy. The atmosphere was nice, but overall we were not very happy with the food.

What a gem! The lasagna was homemade and perfectly balanced, and the wine suggestions paired perfectly. The staff really took the time to explain everything. The atmosphere was intimate, perfect for a date. I'll definitely be back!

This seems like a great place for anniversaries or birthdays. The atmosphere is great, but the food and service are average. - Food: I had the Gorgonzola pasta, and it was just okay... I usually like rich and savory food, but it was so bland I couldn't even swallow it. ㅎㅎ;; But the Codfish was really delicious! It's so delicious, but it also gets a bit greasy after a while... - Service: The person who served our table was very friendly, but when I asked the young male employee if I needed to go to the bathroom, he looked like he really didn't want to work and just walked away without saying a word. ;; I can't believe he didn't see or hear anything... I asked him outright. ㅎㅎ Anyway, it wasn't a great experience, so I said yes... But they did give me a caprese as an appetizer! ㅎㅎ Conclusion: Price and taste don't really matter, but if you want a place with a nice atmosphere, go for it!

We went here specifically for the pasta, which is prepared in a cheese wheel at your table. Unfortunately, they didn't do this for us, and we just got the plates on the table. The pasta was otherwise well-prepared and delicious.

The food was delicious, neatly presented, and well-prepared. A few minor drawbacks: the plates the bruschetta came on were old and dirty. Bruschetta is better served on toasted ciabatta than on a plain slice. The house specialty, pasta with Parmesan and truffle, is delicious, but already a bit cold when served. Nevertheless, highly recommended for a delicious, relaxed, atmospheric, and enjoyable evening!

I’ve been in town for 2 1/2 weeks and have had trouble finding a restaurant I like. Tonight I had dinner with my son at Impero and it was excellent. We shared Carpaccio and we each had gnocchi. The wait staff was very good and the breeze made the dinner very enjoyable. Impero is definitely worth a visit.

Some of the best pasta in Amsterdam!

One of the best Italian places in Amsterdam. Such scrumptious dishes, the Tagliolini Parmigiano has got to be the best one I've eaten anywhere - and I have tried it at many places in Amsterdam. The portion size is good, wine selection is great, service is top notch and the food is 🤌🏻. Fine dining prices, but total value for money, unlike places that break your wallet for low quality food. Reservation required, usally always booked over the weekend and in evenings.

The food was AMAZING, but the service was slow and it was noisy, a bit difficult to speak.

Pests on the couch – shocking experience at Imperio Romacio Amsterdam I had a very unpleasant and disturbing experience today at Imperio Romacio in Amsterdam. While I was eating, a silverfish emerged from under the couch cushions and literally crawled on me. I was truly shocked – you absolutely don't expect this in a restaurant that presents itself as "classy." When I reported this to the staff, the response I got was: "That's normal, the doors are open." No apology. No action. No interest. The creature, of all places, came from under the seat cushions, right in the middle of the restaurant – far from the entrance. Dismissing this as "normal" is not only unprofessional but also concerning for hygiene. Because if this is visibly happening in the restaurant area, what does it look like in the kitchen? I took a picture of the creature and am considering reporting it to the NVWA (Netherlands Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority).

A bit pricey to pay 33 EUR for a plate of spaghetti, but ok to do once in a while, their spaghetti with truffle and parmigiano is from a different world. Very tasty!

The truffle pasta here is amazing! They make it in a large cheese and they're definitely generous with the truffle. Don't miss the scroppino and tiramisu either; the scroppino was so good we even ordered another one 😍

Terrible service — ruined an otherwise great meal The food here is absolutely amazing, easily a 10 out of 10. But unfortunately, the service was so poor that it completely ruined the experience for us. From the start, our server PASHA, didn’t explain the menu at all. Because of this lack of information, we ended up ordering way more than we needed, thinking things were included or meant to be shared. When the bill came, it was almost double what we expected. We politely brought it up, but both the server and the manager insisted that it was our fault — that we misunderstood the menu. That’s simply not true. She never explained it, and we felt blamed for something that was clearly due to poor service and lack of communication. It’s a real shame, because the kitchen clearly knows what they’re doing. But with that kind of attitude from the staff, it’s just not worth it. Wouldn’t recommend unless you’re okay with guessing your way through the menu and being treated like it’s your fault when things go wrong.

EVERYTHING WAS EPIC!!! The white pasta with truffle oil is incredible and the oven baked aubergine was so perfect I honestly couldn’t be happier. But equally good and perhaps less expected was how good the cocktails were: the best one was the espresso martini!! A top restaurant in terms of atmosphere, food and service. It is located in the Pijp near the Amstel. They also have a branch in The Hague. You can choose from different menus (Taste-Menu) in terms of number of courses. There is a 3-, 4- and 5-course menu. You should definitely try the Tagliolini al Parmigiano tartuffo. What a sensation of flavors and it almost melts on your tongue. The dish is prepared for you at the table. There is an extensive wine list with many beautiful white and red wines from Italy. Prices for white wines range from 28 to 490 euros. Promis is recommended, but of course depends on your taste preference. The wine list also includes a special selection (limited stock - Cantina) of very fine wines. Make sure you have enough money on your bill. There are bottles of many hundreds of euros or more. There are also a fair number of wines that can also be ordered by the glass and a choice of world wines (not from Italy). Reservations are recommended if you want to eat here on the weekend. Parking is on the street, but difficult and expensive.
