A truly fantastic experience! We've now been here four times, each time during our Amsterdam vacation, which speaks for itself. The staff is exceptionally friendly, warm, and always attentive without being intrusive. You feel welcome from the very first moment. The dishes are authentically Italian! Just like you'd expect from Italy: fresh, flavorful, and prepared with love. Every bite is a reminder of a holiday in Italy. The whole experience is complemented by a classically chic ambiance with pleasantly subdued lighting, creating a warm and elegant atmosphere. An absolute must-visit and a staple of our Amsterdam stay! We'll definitely be back! Ciao ✋

We dined here on New Year's Eve. Upon arrival, the staff seemed rushed, and we missed the personal touch. We ordered pasta prepared in a large Parmesan cheese bowl. The taste was disappointing. The price is also far too high for the portion size and quality. You pay €36 for a pasta dish. As a dessert, we ordered scroppino, but it too wasn't very filling. It's a shame; I don't think we'll be back anytime soon.

I visited Impero Romano for dinner with my wife, my mother, and our 14-month-old baby to celebrate my mother’s birthday. The tagliolini al Parmigiano with truffle was good, and both my wife and my mother enjoyed it. However, even the house specialty felt overpriced, at 27 euros plus an additional 6 euros for the truffle. I ordered the linguine ai frutti di mare, which was okay but nothing special. The service was nothing special. Unfortunately, the experience ended on a very disappointing note. We were charged 27 euros for a very small portion of farfalle Verdi with butter for our baby, the same base price as the house specialty tagliolini al Parmigiano. I confirmed this with the waitress, who said the charge was correct. I then spoke with the manager and explained that I found this price abusive, especially for such a simple children’s portion, but his only response was “thanks for the feedback.” Because of this lack of consideration and flexibility, I won’t be returning to this restaurant.

The pasta tasted far below expectations. I found the restaurant extremely overpriced. They charged €6 extra per person for a few wafer-thinly grated truffle pieces, while you could barely find any in the creamy pasta. That's completely out of proportion to what you get. Ultimately, it's just pasta, not a luxury item. For me, that's reason enough not to return.

The food was delicious! I've been here before, but never reviewed it because I forget 🤭, but if you've never been, it's definitely worth it; the food is delicious! The atmosphere is nice, but parking is usually a bit of an issue. Sometimes you're lucky and find a spot right away, and sometimes you have to struggle to find one, but it's worth it for the food!

Been coming here for years it’s one of my favorite Italian spots in Amsterdam. If you’re having a birthday or if you’re going on a romantic date it’s suitable for every situation. The people are always very friendly and the food is amazing especially the salmon pasta which I strongly recommend. Most of the time this place is fully booked to book in advance !

Exceptional food & a great wine list

The atmosphere is pleasant, the service is incredibly kind and friendly. The food is fair to good. The food also arrives fairly quickly, but if you need something different, that's certainly possible. It's a nice place, great location, and I was able to park around the corner.

A restaurant where you can tick off every facet of the hospitality industry. The service adheres to etiquette rules but also keeps things light with Italian humor. The house red is excellent. The Impero antipasti features quality ingredients, recommended if you want to try several appetizers. The pasta prepared with Parmesan cheese is quite a heavy dish. It's perfect for sharing. The salmon pasta is delicious. The tiramisu could have been better, quite watery, and the ladyfingers very soft. In short, a pleasant experience and quality food.

The service, wine selections and atmosphere are 10/10 but the pasta was a bit too oily for me.

food was average and portions were good. bruschetta was stale and the ragu had very little sauce. parmesan and truffle pasta was good, but made my partner very sick. we were in and out in 45 minutes, which is way too quick for dinner. a bit overpriced.

We chose this place based on many recommendations, but unfortunately it didn’t fully live up to them. The vitello tonnato and ham were not the best quality, and the pasta felt quite heavy. The atmosphere was nice, but overall we were not very happy with the food.

What a gem! The lasagna was homemade and perfectly balanced, and the wine suggestions paired perfectly. The staff really took the time to explain everything. The atmosphere was intimate, perfect for a date. I'll definitely be back!

Excellent Italian restaurant. Very friendly service. We chose the 5-course menu, but the Scroppino for the fourth course was mediocre, so we only received a half-glass. Otherwise, the food was delicious! Delicious Pinot Grigio!

This seems like a great place for anniversaries or birthdays. The atmosphere is great, but the food and service are average. - Food: I had the Gorgonzola pasta, and it was just okay... I usually like rich and savory food, but it was so bland I couldn't even swallow it. ㅎㅎ;; But the Codfish was really delicious! It's so delicious, but it also gets a bit greasy after a while... - Service: The person who served our table was very friendly, but when I asked the young male employee if I needed to go to the bathroom, he looked like he really didn't want to work and just walked away without saying a word. ;; I can't believe he didn't see or hear anything... I asked him outright. ㅎㅎ Anyway, it wasn't a great experience, so I said yes... But they did give me a caprese as an appetizer! ㅎㅎ Conclusion: Price and taste don't really matter, but if you want a place with a nice atmosphere, go for it!

Staff was very friendly. Our food was fabulous. Homemade pasta that was cooked to perfection. We tried several different dishes and loved them all. Highly recommend

I had an exceptional dining experience at Impero Romano in Amsterdam. Every dish was bursting with flavor and beautifully prepared and the service was just as impressive - friendly, attentive and welcoming. I enjoyed it so much that I ended up cancelling other reservations just so I could return and explore more of their menu. A true gem in Amsterdam and absolutely worth visiting!

We went here specifically for the pasta, which is prepared in a cheese wheel at your table. Unfortunately, they didn't do this for us, and we just got the plates on the table. The pasta was otherwise well-prepared and delicious.

A charming little restaurant where you can find cozy and comfortable seating almost anywhere. The price-quality ratio is excellent. Friendly staff, informal, and accessible. The food was delicious, neatly presented, and well-prepared. A few minor drawbacks: the plates the bruschetta came on were old and dirty. Bruschetta is better served on toasted ciabatta than on a plain slice. The house specialty, pasta with Parmesan and truffle, is delicious, but already a bit cold when served. Nevertheless, highly recommended for a delicious, relaxed, atmospheric, and enjoyable evening!

We came to dinner, and had a great experience. The service was amazing and made us feel welcomed and relaxed. The staff was attentive to our requests, and all with a smile. The food was great. I tasted many a carpaccio, and this was one of the best. All of us had great dishes that left us wanting to return. The atmosphere was pleasant and quiet enough for an effortless conversation. I will definitely be back.

I’ve been in town for 2 1/2 weeks and have had trouble finding a restaurant I like. Tonight I had dinner with my son at Impero and it was excellent. We shared Carpaccio and we each had gnocchi. The wait staff was very good and the breeze made the dinner very enjoyable. Impero is definitely worth a visit.

Some of the best pasta in Amsterdam!

One of the best Italian places in Amsterdam. Such scrumptious dishes, the Tagliolini Parmigiano has got to be the best one I've eaten anywhere - and I have tried it at many places in Amsterdam. The portion size is good, wine selection is great, service is top notch and the food is 🤌🏻. Fine dining prices, but total value for money, unlike places that break your wallet for low quality food. Reservation required, usally always booked over the weekend and in evenings.

The food was AMAZING, but the service was slow and it was noisy, a bit difficult to speak.

Pests on the couch – shocking experience at Imperio Romacio Amsterdam I had a very unpleasant and disturbing experience today at Imperio Romacio in Amsterdam. While I was eating, a silverfish emerged from under the couch cushions and literally crawled on me. I was truly shocked – you absolutely don't expect this in a restaurant that presents itself as "classy." When I reported this to the staff, the response I got was: "That's normal, the doors are open." No apology. No action. No interest. The creature, of all places, came from under the seat cushions, right in the middle of the restaurant – far from the entrance. Dismissing this as "normal" is not only unprofessional but also concerning for hygiene. Because if this is visibly happening in the restaurant area, what does it look like in the kitchen? I took a picture of the creature and am considering reporting it to the NVWA (Netherlands Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority).

A bit pricey to pay 33 EUR for a plate of spaghetti, but ok to do once in a while, their spaghetti with truffle and parmigiano is from a different world. Very tasty!

The truffle pasta here is amazing! They make it in a large cheese and they're definitely generous with the truffle. Don't miss the scroppino and tiramisu either; the scroppino was so good we even ordered another one 😍

Terrible service — ruined an otherwise great meal The food here is absolutely amazing, easily a 10 out of 10. But unfortunately, the service was so poor that it completely ruined the experience for us. From the start, our server PASHA, didn’t explain the menu at all. Because of this lack of information, we ended up ordering way more than we needed, thinking things were included or meant to be shared. When the bill came, it was almost double what we expected. We politely brought it up, but both the server and the manager insisted that it was our fault — that we misunderstood the menu. That’s simply not true. She never explained it, and we felt blamed for something that was clearly due to poor service and lack of communication. It’s a real shame, because the kitchen clearly knows what they’re doing. But with that kind of attitude from the staff, it’s just not worth it. Wouldn’t recommend unless you’re okay with guessing your way through the menu and being treated like it’s your fault when things go wrong.

The Parmesan pasta is incredible. I always go for Italian dishes, and this is one of the best. Plus, the staff is super nice and polite. I've bookmarked this place in case I return to AMS someday.

EVERYTHING WAS EPIC!!! The white pasta with truffle oil is incredible and the oven baked aubergine was so perfect I honestly couldn’t be happier. But equally good and perhaps less expected was how good the cocktails were: the best one was the espresso martini!! A top restaurant in terms of atmosphere, food and service. It is located in the Pijp near the Amstel. They also have a branch in The Hague. You can choose from different menus (Taste-Menu) in terms of number of courses. There is a 3-, 4- and 5-course menu. You should definitely try the Tagliolini al Parmigiano tartuffo. What a sensation of flavors and it almost melts on your tongue. The dish is prepared for you at the table. There is an extensive wine list with many beautiful white and red wines from Italy. Prices for white wines range from 28 to 490 euros. Promis is recommended, but of course depends on your taste preference. The wine list also includes a special selection (limited stock - Cantina) of very fine wines. Make sure you have enough money on your bill. There are bottles of many hundreds of euros or more. There are also a fair number of wines that can also be ordered by the glass and a choice of world wines (not from Italy). Reservations are recommended if you want to eat here on the weekend. Parking is on the street, but difficult and expensive.

For my taste, the tables are too close together, which I personally find a bit cramped. It was also a rather hot day both inside and outside the restaurant. I ordered the shrimp dish, which I'd say was overcooked because it was quite dry and tough. The table service was eccentric, but the staff was very friendly, attentive, and pleasant.

We had a lovely dinner with fresh vegetables, perfectly cooked risotto and extremely well prepared pasta. It was interesting to watch one of the servers prepare the pasta in the parmesan cheese wheel. Even better - the pasta was delicious. We will happily go again.

A MUST EAT in Amsterdam! It's one of the most popular restaurants in Amsterdam for a very good reason! Their truffle pasta is famous, and their Tiramisu is infamous! ;) Love this place!!!

One of the best Italian restaurants in town. They have a wide variation of famous Italian dishes made with a nice new twist in the flavor. Each dish was well presented and the overall tastes (food and sweets) were super good. They also have a wide variations of drinks. Staff are very friendly

I'll never come back here again. The only positive thing I can say about this restaurant is that it looks beautiful on the inside! This ruins the atmosphere by music that is completely inappropriate. In short: service is really crap, food tastes anything but fresh and well-seasoned (except for the cheese spread) and the coffee is lukewarm. And that for a hefty price.

The starters, assortment of meat and cheeses and spada, were great. The pasta with cheese and truffle was good too. The talgiata di manzo, the steak, wasn't that good. I preferred the cannoli over the tiramisu.

Very cute place, and been on my list to try for a few years. Started well, with the appetizers of the cold cuts and a separate plate of spada. Then the steak - very subpar, thin cut, with some chewy parts and definitely not seasoned at all. Parmesan wheel pasta with truffles - was good. For the dessert we had tiramisu and cannoli- both were ok, nothing to write home about. €170 later I am not going to return, but I am sure some people would find it delicious. Just not for me

It was like entering another world because it was a bit dark, but the atmosphere was great. The service was good and the staff was very hospitable! The food was delicious, traditional Italian as hoped, but I thought what you got for the price was a bit less. Otherwise a good location if you want to try Italian cuisine other than the Pizzeria around the corner ;)

Ate here with my girlfriend to celebrate our anniversary on the recommendation of colleagues. Upon arrival we were immediately welcomed. We came in 15 minutes before our reservation and were seated right away. The service was fast and good. We enjoyed a delicious wine, with delicious starters and a delicious pasta as a main course. Our waitress Elena was fantastic! She made the difference. The atmosphere in the restaurant is cozy and atmospheric. The location of the restaurant is great, on the Amstel and close to the "ceintuurbaan" tram stop. A fantastic evening with good wine and delicious food. Will definitely come back again!

Impero Romano is an Italian restaurant in Amsterdam. You will certainly feel the Italian atmosphere, through the service with an Italian accent, the authentic menu and decor. The decor is attractive and authentic, unlike other restaurants you will want to sit everywhere here. We got a delicious bruschetta from the house. We then ordered a snack board, with various meats, cheese, carpaccio, bread and burrata. As a main course we both chose the cheese wheel pasta with fresh truffle. It was incredibly delicious. I actually wanted to give it 5 stars, but since my girlfriend and I both didn't feel well when we got home and couldn't even sleep, it seems like something was wrong.
