Mediocre food, masquerading as "fine dining," with inadequate service. This used to be an excellent restaurant with good Italian food and friendly, professional service. Unfortunately, it's all gone downhill. I dined there tonight with friends on Christmas Eve, at my recommendation, and I'm embarrassed in front of my guests. The first course was explained, but after that, the dishes were simply brought out quickly. No one asked how it was. Hasty, distant, and disinterested. I had to get the wine myself and refill it from a cooler 10 meters away. The waiter didn't notice. It's a shame that so many restaurants can't find adequate staff in both the kitchen and the service, thus allowing the quality and experience to deteriorate so much. Even to a point where the price is no longer worth it. After several visits, I won't be returning.

For my birthday this year, I visited Incanto in Amsterdam and had an amazing experience from start to finish. The restaurant felt slightly hidden, as you head up a staircase through a narrow doorway, due to being located in an old building. But it added great character to the venue, it felt unique, and like few other places in the city, and I love how they treated me as a local, rather than a tourist; the vibes were authentic and sophisticated. The restauraunt is set over multiple floors, the staircase can be steep, so I would be cautious if you have access needs, being seated at a table, right at the top, I had views of the river, and was also right by the kitchen, it felt amusing having to pass the kitchen to reach the lavatory, but passing through you could see they kept everything immaculate. The menu is small, but I like this as it allows them to focus on fresh, tasty produce. The staff have great awareness of allergens as well as speaking perfect English in order to talk me through the dishes I could eat. I originally went for the risotto of the day, which was pumpkin and goat’s cheese. After mentioning I wasn’t a fan of goat’s cheese, they offered to swap it out for me, which I appreciated. I wasn’t a fan of the risotto - while it looked delicious, the rice was slightly undercooked. I made the staff aware of this, and they were extremely apologetic and swapped it out for something else. I liked how the staff were able to split dishes too, so I could share, as it also helped me try other dishes on the menu. I then decided to go for the Cacio e Pepe, made with gluten-free pasta. This was delicious; the pasta was fresh and tasty, and the sauce had so much flavour. Again, such a simple pasta dish, but elevated well and so delicious! The seabream was also good and had some nice flavours. The pricing is also really reasonable, too, for a place that feels so elegant, and more of a premium option; it was a better value than other restaurants I visited during my trip for sure. I also liked how they added touches, such as bringing fresh gluten-free bread over. I rarely eat bread, but this was actually pretty good. The service throughout was great, special shoutout to Brook, who did everything he could to make my birthday and meal as special as possible. As I mentioned, I was celebrating my birthday, which they had remembered through my reservation notes. They brought over a dessert at the end, which was a fresh fruit crumble. This was made gluten-free for me, with a cute little candle; it was moist, and again I enjoyed it, and the presentation was superb. It feels like a hidden gem in Amsterdam, and I look forward to returning to Incanto the next time I visit the city.

We went here with high expectations, and it was quite disappointing. Upon arrival, we were immediately confronted by businesslike staff who couldn't crack a smile and didn't speak Dutch. Wine was quite pushed. The food was okay, not particularly special. The fettuccine al ragout was very salty, and there wasn't a ragout at all, but a thin sauce with large chunks of meat... it wasn't what you'd expect from a ragout. The rest of the dishes were also unremarkable. When paying, we were given a card reader that offered a 5%, 10%, 15%, or 20% tip. Below that, a small sign said "no tip." The waiter, who had previously been difficult to make eye contact with, now stood by and watched what I was pressing. The location and view were great, but if you're looking for more of an Italian restaurant where you'll have to spend a fortune, I'd suggest looking elsewhere. For us, this was a one-off.

I was excited to try Incanto’s much-praised food and wine, but never got the chance. They messed up my reservation and told me to come back in an hour—on a cold December evening in Amsterdam. Very disappointing.

I can't help but leave a review for this restaurant!! I walked by this afternoon and honestly didn't understand what it was, but then I read the name and looked it up online and wanted to try it, and I have to say we made an excellent choice!! My husband chose the €55 tasting menu, while I chose à la carte! EVERYTHING WONDERFUL!! From the appetizer to the dessert, everything was spectacular!! Kudos to the staff too!!! Smiling, friendly, truly brilliant! Kudos!!

I think more folks would go here if they were on the first floor. Do not miss the opportunity to experience this great restaurant! Brooks was great as a server!

I made a reservation days before arriving in Amsterdam, based on the reviews I read, which perfectly reflected the evening of Wednesday, November 26th. We all chose the Chef's tasting menu, with small variations, without clashing with the kitchen and the service staff, to accommodate some of our intolerances. The service was excellent, as were the dishes on offer, from appetizers to dessert. While waiting to begin dinner, we enjoyed some fragrant warm focaccia, carefully mopped up with Umbrian olive oil. Compliments to the Chef and the kitchen staff for the presentation of the dishes, the quality, and the perfect balance of ingredients; everything was truly delicious and tasty. My personal praise for the rice cooking, as read and shared by other reviews. Since you're in Amsterdam, don't be afraid of encountering steep and narrow staircases. Don't be discouraged; "Incanto" isn't on a main road, but I assure you the climb is well worth it. A pleasant evening in every way, a truly ENCHANTABLE evening.

So the food was ok not bad but we was waiting for so long 1 hour to get our starters and they never come only we get the main course and the funny think the waiter turn up and said to me what starter did you order ???? Really you don’t ask that question you know from the biggining. Not going back again !!!!

We stayed two days in Amsterdam at a restaurant recommended by the hotel... The restaurant was charming and very welcoming... the unique dishes were carefully prepared and had a unique flavor... one of the best restaurants in Amsterdam... I recommend it to everyone.

The restaurant seated us in an isolated area on the top floor. Although it looked like a private space, it lacked atmosphere and warmth; it was completely empty. The server repeatedly mentioned that this job was only a side gig for her, constantly talked about being tired, and displayed a dismissive, sarcastic attitude with visible annoyance. Despite being a group of ten, when we asked for three bottles of wine, she insisted that two would be enough, and we had to push quite a bit to receive what we requested. Although we had spoken privately earlier, she later brought up the same conversation loudly while presenting the bill in front of our guests. She even leaned on one of our friends’ arms and went so far as to say he looked like “Jack among the rich in Titanic.” We are a cheerful group, so no one created tension, but her behavior was highly inappropriate. The same server also made sounds and gestures of disgust when someone at our table used black pepper. No one make her to serve us; if she is working unwillingly, she simply should not be in this role. The food was average. For a venue of this level and price, the number of courses was very limited and not appetizing or inviting. I had visited three times before, but if they struggle this much with a group of ten, they should not accept such reservations.

Based on our positive experience, we returned to Incanto a few weeks ago and were not disappointed. The four-course menu was classic Italian cuisine of very high quality. The wine list was good. The service was attentive and friendly, and the interior was stylish and modern. All in all: highly recommended; we would gladly eat there again when we visit Amsterdam.

Dined here on a Tuesday evening and tried the chef’s four-course menu: salmon tartare, pumpkin risotto, steak, and dark chocolate mousse. The highlight was definitely the dessert — rich and flavorful. Unfortunately, the other courses fell short. The salmon and steak were both underseasoned, while the risotto was overwhelmingly salty, as if all the salt meant for the meal had gone into that one dish. I wasn’t the only one who felt this way — the guest at the table next to me ordered the same menu and ended up asking the server for salt after a few bites of her steak. I had high hopes given the great atmosphere, but the food was disappointing overall. Based on this experience, I wouldn’t return or recommend it to a friend.

My husband and I visited and eat at Incanto twice in one Week. The first time we were alone eating lunch together and it was absolutely lovely. Both the atmosphere, mileau and the food, especially the the desserts that to that lunch. I had housemade sorbet and my husband had pannacotta. The second time we were there we a company of colleagues from my husband's work. A party of 11 and we ate a fantastic dinner together. We highly recommend Incanto if you want really good Italian food in central Amsterdam in Muntplein-area.

Stop debating it! Go here for dinner! This is an authentic, high end Italian restaurant run by 100% Italians. The cocktails, wine pairings and meals were top notch! We will be talking about this dinner after we are back in the states. We will be coming back anytime we’re in Amsterdam! We each had one of the two tasting menus. The tasting menu was 4 courses. The differentiator was the choice of Cod or Goose breast for one menu’s entree or a 15 euro more menu that had beef tenderloin with truffle and spinach as the entree. There is also a wine pairing option that *bonus* allows you to choose which courses you want wine with (if you don’t want a whole glass with each of the four) instead of a flat wine pairing fee. Photos below are of the Calamari salad, goose breast entree, beef tenderloin entree and raspberry mousse dessert. The second course was an asparagus risotto we failed to get a photo of. It was all exceptional!

The food is nothing special for that price. The staff was not really friendly and service was quite slow. They were rude when we wanted to split the bill because we were a group of people - never had that issue in any other country. Not going to go back.

What a lovely location above the busy streets of Amsterdam. Situated in a historic building with large windows, most tables overlook the square below. They offer an a la carte menu as well as a tasting menu. I opted for a la carte and could not have been more pleased with my meal. First, the wine was spectacular. I asked for a suggestion and after I answered a few questions about my preferences for red wine, the proprietor brought me the most perfect Italian red. My meal was amazing - saffron gnocchi with langoustine and a lemon burrata drizzle. I had a delicious pistachio panna cotta for dessert. Restaurant is highly recommended.

we were there last night(18th April), it was awful. the food quality was not good, it was not fresh at all. it was very crowded, during the time we were there, their employees broke 3 times glasses , many times we heard sth fell down in the kitchen. The food is not worthy of the price at all. I do not recommend it at all.

This restaurant is a delight in the true sense of the word. The excellent service, the high quality food, the very nice atmosphere and the location with a breathtaking view of the flower market in the center of Amsterdam. Our waiter Leo (Alessandro Borghi's lookalike 😍) served us with great professionalism and excellence. A true professional. Worth mentioning is the best tiramisu I have ever tasted.

Me and my wife had the worst experience there..! 1st dish (out of 4) arrived after 20 min from order and meanwhile we stuffed ourselves with bread.. the 1st dish was small but pretty tasty, than we had to wait for another 25 min for the 2nd course which was absolutely the worst Risotto we ever had (and we both love Risotto and Italian food).. I told it to the wateriest and asked if there is another dish instead and she just nodded her head and took the plates. We thought we might get a dish instead or at least a partial refund on the bill.. but we got non! Absolutely disgraceful behavior to a client at a fine dinning restaurant.. stay away!!!

For me this is the best Italian restaurant in Amsterdam and surrounding areas. Reception, service, food and surroundings are top notch. No boring pizzas and pastas here that anyone can make, but top quality with a refined twist. Nice wine list and top wines by the glass. Nice place to stay and eat on the 2nd or 1st floor. Beautiful view of Rokin and flower market. Parking in the hotel garage, a 200m walk away.

Incanto is definitely one of my favorites, if not my favorite restaurant in Amsterdam! After visiting about 15 times, I can safely say that the food is made with love, fresh and seasonal ingredients, the wine is decadent and the service top notch. Roelof (the manager and sommelier) is truly an expert in wines and will give you the best of suggestions according to your taste and preferences. 10/10 recommend!

Definitely one of the best places in Amsterdam to eat real Italian food in a very intimate setting. We went to celebrate New Year's Eve, we took the tasting menu which was spectacular. A couple of people have replaced one of the fixed plates for another without problems. Impeccable service, excellent food quality, incredible range of wines and fairly honest prices. Definitely worth visiting!

I think my expectation was too high..I tried the steak with truffle on the top, but I barely tasted the truffle, no scent. So I felt it was just a salted tender beef steak with no sauce, just a bit of spinach, nothing more than that compared to the price. Would’ve been great if there was at least a side such as potatoes. For that moment I completely forgot I was at an Italian restaurant, means a bit disappointed. Appetiser octopus was good, great atmosphere. But wouldn’t want to go back next time.

Online zoekend naar een nieuw eetadres kwamen we uit bij Incanto. Discreet verstopt aan de Amstel, dus geen massatoerisme over de vloer. Klein en knus restaurant met mooi uitzicht over het Muntplein en Rokin. De medewerkers zijn vriendelijk en efficiënt. Geen te uitgebreide menukaart met mooie gerechten, goed klaargemaakt en gepresenteerd. Uitgebreide wijnkaart met diverse prijsklassen. Wij hebben genoten van onze avond. Incanto staat nu met stip in ons adresboek.

This restaurant, right in the tourist heart of Amsterdam, turned out to be a pleasant surprise. The location, on the first floor, offers beautiful views all around. The food was delicious. What really stood out was the service: attentive and friendly, everyone kept an eye on all the tables and helped each other. And all of this led by an enthusiastic, cheerful sommelier who not only served excellent wines, but who knew how to tell even better stories. Definitely recommended!

If there’s one restaurant you visit while in Amsterdam make sure it’s this one! Me and my partner decided to end our trip in Amsterdam with dinner here. And let me tell you it did not disappoint! We both got the 4 course menu but I got the vegetarian option so we got to try so much. I really recommend doing the 4 courses. My boyfriend had one course he didn’t love as much but they got him something else without him even having to ask and free of charge. Their service is on another level as we were always being waited on and they even had a sommelier to recommend us the most delicious wine to pair with our food! This was the best meal I have ever had by FAR and the service was even better!

Found by chance while walking in the streets of the city. Sophisticated menu of fresh and seasonal products. The young, friendly, helpful and above all true Italian staff immediately welcomed us (even though we hadn't booked) and made us feel immediately at ease. We chose to rely on the kitchen and its menu of the day consisting of 4 courses (very refined and balanced). We were there at 10 p.m., but the kitchen was already closed. Please also write that the opening time is until 10 p.m. and not until midnight. Otherwise you'll walk here unnecessarily. As an alternative, a separate kitchen opening time can also be stored on Maps. But it doesn't make any sense.

The team was incredibly friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. This place is definitely a must-visit, and we will absolutely be coming back!

The manager is a really uneducated person, he was trying to make a reservation (which was available), when he came out and shouted that he couldn't sit down and wait. A real shame.

Pedimos un tipo de aperitivo ricotta / cannoli para nuestra mesa. Se recomendó conseguir dos ya que eran porciones pequeñas. Era bastante caro a 18 euros por pedido y promedio, en el mejor de los casos. No había ninguna oferta de ensaladas en el menú, que me pareció extraño para un restaurante italiano. Todos teníamos pastas que eran inmemorables. Las ofertas de vino eran muy agradables. En general, no es un lugar al que volvería.

Four of us had dinner in this restaurant with a magnificent view of the canal. The dishes were all very good, but the prices, even considering the city average, we found them slightly excessive. What we liked least was the service: although some waiters were very friendly, others offered a very cold although courteous service, and some were even annoyed and slightly rude. I think that considering quality-price and service, there are better options in the city

My husband and I first came here 10+ yrs ago and had a wonderful experience on one of our first dates. The location overlooks the beautiful Amstel River, and despite being in the Center, is tucked away in a refurbished traditional Dutch building, and is so gezellig. We've since come back twice over 10 years, and, unfortunately, the food has gotten progressively worse. The descriptions in the menu hold the promise of authentic flavor combinations but the preparations leave much to be desired - the seasoning is consistently over or under, the sauces were too dry with high salinity, and they also lacked depth and complexity to our palettes. We ordered the gnocchi, octopus, and duck. The gnocchi was the best of the three, but not by leaps and bounds. There is a place in the restaurant world for mediocre Italian fare, but their price points do not match the quality of the dishes. The one bright spot in the evening was the wine - both the sommelier and the wine were incredible and memorable. We're grateful for the excellent service, but won't be returning.

Next level. The signature meal was amazing

We had been here before and enjoyed it better with a more private table away from the busy center. It is an old place where you climb steep stairs to get to it. From the window is a pretty view of the hotel L’ Europe. This time it was too hot (no air conditioning). The host was in an awful mood and yelled at one of the waiters several times. The waiters kept changing so did not remember about food allergies until either the host or we explained again. The food was average. My son had the risotto which he enjoyed. I had the gluten free pasta with lamb. It is an expensive but average meal.

Really good food menu, welcoming and attentive staff members, and cozy vibe. The octopus dish and lobster gnocchi were great. The desserts are very pretty, but not as good as they look. I'd recommend ordering multiple food menus and skipping dessert.

Yummy food in a unique space with huge windows overlooking the canal

My friend and I had a four-course dinner, and although the portions might look small at first, we were absolutely full by the end. Everything was absolutely delicious!

The food was great, service was friendly, location was very nice. The sommelier chose a very nice red wine - we ordered a bottle. We had 4 course dinner with chef selection. First course was this mackerel - tasty! Second - risotto with beetroot sauce -- not a fan of risotto, but it was cooked to perfection the texture and the taste was okay Third - beefsteak ( we called it bifstuk) with truffle -- meat was cooked perfectly pink, not too rare - taste was great Fourth - Dessert - we had cheese plates and panakota plate -- the panakota was soooo delish!!!! Price was okay. Much as i want to give 5 stars, I was not admonished by the food, except the dessert which was so amazing. I think we got what we expected, tho we are waiting for a surprise !!!

Geweldig gegeten hier. Mooie gerechten en heerlijke wijnen. Bediening is zeer gastvrij en vriendelijk. Goede prijs/kwaliteit verhouding. Echt een aanrader.
