JaffaJaffa - Stunning Streetfood in Wijk 10 Binnenstad

Went here for a drink for the first time last week. Unfortunately, I had a bad experience. I ordered a regular hot chocolate, which turned out to be 9 euros! Unfortunately, I only realized it when I got home. Probably misread/ordered it. Too bad.

What a lovely, sort of "street food world restaurant." You sit casually at low tables with chairs or high tables with stools. The menu is quite extensive, and you have a wide selection of dishes. We were with friends and opted for the "two-course sharing" menu. There were some surprising dishes; the artichoke we ordered was unfamiliar but tasted quite good. The service was friendly and attentive. We had to wait quite a while (they had forgotten us in the kitchen) and were offered a free cup of coffee as compensation for the long wait. The atmosphere was also great; the only downside was that the music (you could really only hear the bass notes) was quite loud, even after we asked if it could be turned down a bit. Parking is available at a nearby parking facility. We think it's worth it. For four people, we had a nice evening out for €50 per person.

The lighting is super orange so you can't really see what you're eating, but the food is delicious.

Overall nice vibe, clean, and friendly staff. The food are delicious too. We were there last week with a large group of 8, we chose the 2-round menu of surprise which offers 6 dish per round for 35 euros/pp We found the portions rather not enough for 8 of us. We waited a bit long for the food.

The concept of this restaurant is interesting. The dishes are tasty and original. Also, a selection of vegetarian options. Lovely decor 😍

We had a delicious meal; the service was friendly, efficient, and welcoming. The kitchen was also lively; it was great to see such a well-oiled team! The flavors were good, and the portions were as expected after reading the reviews. It was wonderfully warm, and the music was just right. We were full for now, but we'll definitely be back for the remaining dishes.

Very tasty food, fast service, very pleasant atmosphere

We had made a reservation here for Saturday night because there were so many options to suit everyone. However, the moment we walked in, the music was blasting club music. It was impossible to have a conversation at the table, and when we mentioned this to the staff, we were told that this was "the concept." The staff also admitted it was loud and that other guests were also bothered by it, but that the music couldn't be turned down. After sitting down, we were immediately, without asking, given bread with muhamarra and a bottle of water, which then added €18 to our bill. We ordered drinks and booked a table elsewhere in Zwolle. The staff often hovered around, lacking enthusiasm, which is completely understandable. When we ordered a drink, it still took 10 minutes, even though everyone was standing still. Such a shame for such a beautiful location and decor. It had a lot of potential!

The food and service were very good, although the fries weren't up to the standard of the other dishes. The cooked cauliflower was only lukewarm inside, but tasted great. Great atmosphere.

Extremely loud music on Friday evening, making it impossible to have a conversation at the table. Even the staff had trouble taking orders. But when we asked, they couldn't turn the music down because that was the "concept." Jaffa Jaffa is not a chat café, they literally said...

Super nice place, but the price-quality ratio isn't good. Small, expensive portions. Cold coffee and no soap or toilet paper... such a shame.

We had a wonderful meal on the charming terrace on Saturday evening. The four of us chose the chef's three-course menu. Surprising, delicious, and more than enough. Highly recommended if you're a bit of a stickler! (They did ask beforehand if you'd prefer not to have anything or if you had any allergies.) The service was excellent and explained everything. Once again: highly recommended!

We had a really delicious lunch with the two-course chef's menu. The atmosphere is pleasant and the staff is friendly.

It started out really well, but the quality has declined significantly in recent years. There are now nicer places with a similar concept to JaffaJaffa, where you get better food and more value for your money. The service and atmosphere at JaffaJaffa are very good, and that's definitely worth it. I won't be going back myself, though—a shame!

We had a lovely meal outside on the terrace, the two of us, and opted for the two-course chef's menu. It tasted delicious and was definitely enough for lunch. If we had dined there in the evening, we might have chosen the three-course chef's menu or a soup beforehand. Friendly service. Our two dogs were even treated to a dog biscuit.

Beautiful spot on a hidden square. Large, cozy terrace. Delicious wine with dumplings. A nice menu with small dishes perfect for sharing.

JaffaJaffa is located in a beautiful building on the outskirts of Zwolle. The building and the atmosphere are fantastic, and the food is delicious. Unfortunately, the wine wasn't great (Chardonnay), and I found the service rather unattentive.

I went with two toddlers and 3 adults and the food was good. But the ONE HOUR wait for the second round of Chef's Choice is ridiculous. Honestly, I don't know if it's worth going back. Especially for the poor quality/price ratio. Okay, the food is good, but it's not worth the high prices.

A restaurant spread over three floors in a beautiful historic building. A great concept for food. Pleasant, efficient service. A relaxed atmosphere. The outdoor terrace is also perfect for dining or relaxing.

Great place! We enjoyed delicious cocktails and nachos. They kindly told us when the kitchen would close, etc., and if we'd still like something to eat. Very polite staff and a beautiful place!

The food was delicious. The service was prompt and friendly. The menu is extensive and features original dishes. There's also plenty of choice for vegetarians. However, the dishes are a bit pricey for the portion size. Drinks, on the other hand, are very affordable.

The food was absolutely delicious. Wow! The cocktails were delicious, the chef's selection was incredibly surprising, diverse, and flavorful, and the location is truly stunning! The portions were quite generous, so we couldn't finish it all, but the staff was so kind that we were allowed to take it home. Absolutely fantastic! Highly recommended.

It was very disappointing. At first glance, it seemed like a nice place, but the quality and value for money were completely inadequate. We ordered hummus and a poke bowl-like dish. The hummus was far below par: poor flavor, strange texture, and very little. With such a small amount, you expect the flavor to be good, but unfortunately, it wasn't. The rice in the poke bowl wasn't cooked through, and the chicken had a suspicious aftertaste. In the end, we paid too much for food that can hardly be called stunning. The staff, though friendly, almost took offense when I explained why the food wasn't good. The atmosphere is good, but you need to put more effort into making the food worthwhile.

Service is ALWAYS incredibly slow, and you have to flag down staff for anything - ordering, drink refills, napkins.. they just generally do no come to the tables unprompted which is kind of annoying. Food & drinks are delicious though, and the outdoor terrace seating is lovely!

Yesterday I ate at Java Java in Zwolle. The food was generally good, but there were some surprising (and somewhat strange) choices, you have to like this. The taste was good, but the combinations were sometimes a bit strange. Nice experience, but not quite what I expected but a super cozy place to sit! Friendly staff and quickly helped!

Nice location, service is fine. Really small portions for the money and not surprising. If you go for lunch and really want to be full you will spend € 40.

We were looking for something spicy and the Thai stall did not disappoint. No sloppy stuff, just really spicy food. My mother couldn't handle it all haha ​​but I loved it. Especially the curry had quite a kick. Tables were full of people who were visibly enjoying themselves. Nice that it was all quick and fresh. Next time I also want to try the Surinamese stall :)

We were at Jaffa Jaffa for lunch today. The ambience is impressive and everyone in Zwolle should definitely make time for a little visit. We had a coconut soup which couldn't have been better. Extremely tasty. We also had a salad. Unfortunately, this loses a point. Although everyone's taste is different. For me personally and for my little daughter, who was actually supposed to eat it, it was much too spicy. I would have been happy if I had been briefly informed about this when ordering. As it was, it unfortunately remained completely uneaten. But that's really only a small negative point. Apart from that, we were more than impressed with the service, the food and, above all, the ambience.

Very expensive for very little, and also a long wait: not really recommended.

I would go here again just for the location. Service was okay, everything a bit dirty (glasses, tables, menu) food was okay but we chose this for the atmosphere! Which was clearly very nice, nice outside, lights on, nice terrace.

Went here yesterday evening. The portions are the size of a starter. These cost around €15 each. I found this disproportionate to the quality. The food was cold, the meat was tough and it all took a very long time. The service was friendly but that's it. Paying €80 and not being satisfied. We had to eat somewhere else afterwards to be satisfied.

Friendly service and fast (it was very quiet). Outside in the sun on the terrace out of the wind....wonderful! Just a lovely place to sit out of the hustle and bustle. Enjoyed the dumplings and the jfc chicken.

We did one of those multi-course dinners. We didn't know exactly what we were getting. It turned out to be a lot of green food and vegetarian dishes. That's not a bad thing, but it is for that price. Much expensive for those 'simple' dishes.

Everything is transient, including this concept. In the beginning Jaffa was still stunning, but today's experience unfortunately cannot be stolen from me. Are there other chefs?? With the exception of a single dish, everything was average, with little flavor and only moderately original. Ingredients that were mixed together and stuck together, causing the special flavors to merge into a stale bite. To top it all off, a tasteless dessert for two that would not have looked out of place in Aldi. Too bad because the prices create higher expectations. Transience in a beautiful building with insanely loud music but fortunately friendly service. Time to look for something new in Zwolle or try the classic cuisine a little less stunning.

Food was not special but very tasty and certainly not expensive, the service was good and friendly. Lovely sitting outside between the old buildings which gives a nice atmosphere...

Unfortunately the last time the food was disappointing, fish n chips were very poor. Would never dare to charge 16 euros for that. Most of the times I have been there I have enjoyed it.

This afternoon, in the sun on the terrace, I accidentally ended up here for lunch. Nice to try a different concept. It really took forever before 2 coffees were brought, and after 45 minutes of waiting (!!) our ordered dishes finally arrived. A rendang and an ayam, both cost €15, and then you have a skewer with chicken thigh and some fries with rendang on top. We personally thought this was outrageously expensive, the taste was okay but not special and it had also cooled down somewhat. Normally I would have said something about it, but we didn't feel like waiting any longer for the food. In all the time we were there, we were not once asked if everything was to our liking, except that drinks and food were regularly brought to the wrong table. All in all, we had the clear feeling that things were not in order there, it all took too long and the prices were not justified in terms of quantity and quality. In any case, we will not be returning and will not advise others to do so.

Went for lunch with the four of us. Great place, nice in the sun today. Today's prices seem very normal, 7 euros for a desperados for example. The mocktails were good, spicy mocktail recommended. My food was very disappointing. The fish and chips....phew. A very small plate of fries, with two nasty pieces of fish (more fries than fish) for 16 euros. Come on. That price is normal if you get a big plate full, but with this you will still be hungry when you finish it. The rendang and duck were fine. The service...they did their best. I had the feeling that too few staff for too many customers. And the orders were not going well. Several times they came to the wrong table with an order. Tight enough.

The stools were also uncomfortable (due to raised edges and no backrest). This caused restlessness while eating. This is a reason for me not to come here with a group.

Delicious dishes and plenty of choice! We have eaten here several times and I almost always order vegetable dim sum. Now I think it happened 3/4 of the time that I got the wrong dim sum (with shrimp or meat). That is a bad mistake, especially when it happens so often. Otherwise a great tent!

Enjoyed a very nice concept, share dining, where we enjoyed various dishes such as tom kha kai, oysters, dim sum, rendang, fried chicken, lobsta twins, California roll and a number of other dishes! It is not the fault of the beautiful place and the nice service, but the food we ordered left much to be desired, very salty. And I won't have that anytime soon. Not what I expected from an oriental dish. Limp dry rice and the vegetables with it had no soy sauce taste. Also somewhat minimal in terms of quantity. The time (4 p.m.) may not work, but it is heated up from the morning preparation, so I recommend eating in the evening if it is freshly prepared? All three of us were dissatisfied and reported it. Unfortunately, nothing further was done about it.

Great concept! We enjoyed the special dishes that you would normally never order. From the table you can look straight into the kitchen and see how everything is prepared. The staff work neatly, are friendly and make you feel immediately at home in this beautiful restaurant. The dishes are very varied. A sensation in terms of taste and presentation. Had drinks and dinner with 6 people. Italian drinks took a very long time and were a bit disappointing (way too expensive for what you get). Chose chef's menu 2 for the food. Disappointing in terms of quantity and taste. Expected more for 35 pp. We had a very pleasant evening.

A pleasant atmosphere to have a few drinks and have a good time. The food is not good, but as a snack (tapas) it is fine.

Tables are very close together, even for a Wednesday evening (with reservation). Fries rendang tasty, but rendang always tastes good. The so-called kapsalon is better to get from a good shawarma farmer and the Beijing duck pancakes…pancakes tore, the pickled cucumbers weren't much, but the meat was well seasoned. You just had to fill and fold them yourself. Beers not very special, but pricey (€7.50 for a Bolleke, in Antwerp they would be ashamed of that). All in all, this store relies too much on the name of Librije. For this money you can eat better and more elsewhere.

Super cool shop. Unfortunately the food is subpar. We had the feeling that the sauce on our sandwich was bad/tipped & the food wasn't worth a star otherwise. It's a shame given such a beautiful location and also a good menu. You could really do something with it.

Overall good food, but do agree with other reviews that even though it’s supposed to be a shared dining experience, the portions don’t seem to be made to share. On top of that it’s quite expensive; for 4 people, having drinks and 2 rounds of food (the recommended amount) it came to ~200 euros. Seems like a lot for street food, and amount wise really wasn’t much. Vibe is great though and people were friendly!

I've never had such bad food in the Netherlands. For eggs and a little rice without anything Without salt, spices or anything else 10€ The store can only do one thing... Little ambience, nothing else. We had to wait 50 minutes for a little bit of food and pay a lot of money for a cereal bowl with a little something on it. Menu is more confusing than politics. Generally a rip-off shop: great from the outside and great from the food. The service is also like the food!
