The food tastes absolutely amazing, and the atmosphere is so lovely and charmingly decorated. Unfortunately, I didn't have room for a slice of the gorgeous-looking cakes – hopefully next time! 😊

Ethiopian cuisine in Amsterdam East. Beukenweg 220. Both dine-in, takeaway, and delivery. A meal costs around 14 euros. I ate at the restaurant, and thoroughly enjoyed it. A shared meal with 3 meats and 5 vegetables. I loved the way they prepare kale, pumpkin, and beets. Unfortunately, I had no room left for one of the delicious-looking cakes. Lots of vegan and gluten-free options. The fresh juices are highly recommended. I had hibiscus-mint-ginger. They'll be with the cake next time. I'll be back soon. Friendly English-speaking staff. So, kale isn't farmers cow. Just a joke from my dining companion. The pancakes you eat with are replenished without asking. The same goes for the fresh towels and glass of water afterward. Enjoyed it. Back to this restaurant, and again, delicious. And again, no room for cake. We'd planned to do this anyway, but the food was so delicious that there was no room for the amazing-looking (vegan) slice of cake. I saw that in addition to takeout, you can also have meals delivered. Then I can try the spicy options. Since you share your meal and my fellow diners don't like that, there's still something to be desired. But once again, a success for me.

Visiting Amsterdam, this small restaurant was around the corner from my Airbnb. OMG- the flavors were excellent. I loved the kale, mushrooms, the misir wat (red lentil stew), the injera. I second the review that said the avocado lime cake blew their mind. Comfortable and relaxed atmosphere with some Ethiopian jazz playing. Good to find a place with healthy vegan options so close by.

Such a fan of this place! I'm a regular and always order the vegan dish where you can choose your own vegetables. Delicious. Yesterday I also ordered cake and pie for the first time (lemon coconut cake and chocolate cherry cake, both vegan). Wow! Seriously, possibly the best cake I've ever had. Next time I'll definitely order a sweet treat and try their other cakes.

Contrary to what the description says, this is more that just a vegan restaurant, so you have a lot of meat dishes available as well. But indeed their vegan and vegetarian menu is extensive, with perfect portions of very tasty main dishes for vegetarians. So it’s perfect for those who go in mixed company: something for everyone I got the mushroom Tibs (spicy) which was excellent! And you get to choose between a big variety of side vegetable dishes too. And lovely homemade tamarind juice (among others) Great for an evening of hearty dinner, and yes they do have seating as well.

A very nice place. The food was amazing with very fair prices. Half the menu is vegan and the other have contains meat if you prefer with it. The raw desserts are amazing, we will come back for sure.

We didn’t know eastern African cuisine, but what we got at Kilimanjaro was very delicious. You get to eat with your hands (spoon is there though) and you grab the food with sourdough pancakes. The spices they use make the dishes very tasty and you can tell the ingredients are very fresh. The people working there were chopping fresh veggies all the while and the whole atmosphere is very cozy and warm. The books you can buy there are well picked and make for a high quality political view on Africa and its history, culture and problems. What a shame Europe never really made up for what they did to that continent. The contrary - even though we caused most of their problems today we treat refugees of the results of those actions as people less worth. Thank you Kilimanjaro for everything. Very poor service, if I could give -10 stars I would. Waiting time was max 60 minutes. Food finally delivered after 1 hour and 50 minutes. There is no point in calling, because they can only speak very poor English.

Best Ethiopian food in Amsterdam and the people there are so nice! 10/10 recommend!

First timer here, I am Ethiopian myself and was disappointed with the food unfortunately. It lacked the authentic taste for me, especially the meat dishes were bland and watery and as if it was put in the microwave before serving. Doro wot for instance gets a very specific taste due to the longggg caramelization of the onions and this felt like it has been made quickly leaving it with no taste. The veggie options were nice tho!

One of my favorite places in Oost! Delicious vegan stews. Best injera in town according to an Ethiopian friend. Also try the vegan cakes. Very good value for money. Friendly staff, homey atmosphere.

The food was super tasty! We had the Mahberawi combo for 2, and it was the perfect amount for two, it comes with 5 veggies of your choice. They have mild and spicy options, we tried both and both were great. Would definitely recommend it! The owner (i think) was very helpful and friendly, we’re going to visit again :)

Last summer I have been visiting this place, and been enjoying it a lot! Your raw vegan chocolate cake was, without overstatement, the best cake that I have ever tasted! It is still unbelievable to me that it was actually raw quality. A rare hospitality find in Amsterdam! Don’t waste time looking for a great local restaurant, KILIMANJARO ticks all the boxes. Most of all, the kindness and real warmth of the staff is what makes you feel you have just walked into someone’s home away from yours, and you’ll be treated like a special guest throughout. All dishes are cooked with great skills and a lot of Love. It’s a must go

This place is really, really special. Absolutely not to be missed if you're vegan, but there are just as many meat options too. The food is delicious and beautifully presented. The service and decor are warm and lovely. We got the veg platter for 2 and the quality and variety of dishes was phenomenal. The juices were fresh and hot with ginger. I spent the whole meal thinking about when I'd be able to come back.

Large menu with great Ethiopian food! I had a variation of different add-ons which tasted delicious. Also a great variety of teas. The highlight were the cakes which tasted amazing. The Avocado-Lime and Chocolate-Dates cakes were great together with Ethiopian coffee. The prices are really fair for the amount and quality of food - especially for Amsterdam. The service was kind and welcoming as well - can definitely recommend and will come back!

Super nice place with Ethiopian food. I loved the wide variety on the menu. We ordered the shared vegetarian menu with 12 different vegetables/legumes and injera. Everything was super tasty, even the drinks. We had ginger beer (which was very strong 🔥) en Ethiopian ginger tea. Would definitely recommend this restaurant, also for take out.

Everyone should give this place a try. The food here has unbeatable flavour with a lot of vegetarian options. The chicken was so well spiced and together with plenty of sides included in the meal and injera it was a great experience. The staff are incredibly nice too which made it a lovely meal. The vegan platter is unreal! Had a mushroom dish that blew my mind, plus some delicious pumpkin too. Also got a chocolate date syrup cake to go that was so moist, wow. Couldn’t recommend more for a chill dinner or take out. And lovely people too!!
