Fresh, tasty and very pleasant service! The smoked eel (Paling) is amazing!!! Fair prices too :) Also a testament to the quality, all locals in the queue! And there's always a queue!

Was the best during my stay in Amsterdam. Everyday, my only motivation was going to Kras after having a walk in city. Perfect taste.

By far the best herring in town, always, there are no “bad days”. It’s fresh, perfectly salted and the texture is perfect, real dance of pleasure and joy in your mouth. Other options including salmon and kibbling are also great, also they have “pistolet” option for bread, and have great fish cookies. People running the stall are very authentic and friendly. Prices are very reasonable compared to most overpriced fish stalls in city centre. And for this quality it’s a steal. Highly recommended.

You might not expect it, but it's actually quite true! The best herring stall in the Netherlands (and where else are there herring stalls? nowhere) is located on Kattenburgerplein. And I'm very lucky to live nearby. The Kras family is one of thousands. True Volendammers with a deep love for what they do and incredible expertise. I once asked Kras about the secret of his super herring, and he laughed cheerfully and said: "You're not going to tell me," ha ha ha ha ha. That's why I'm now forced to come and enjoy his truly top-notch products at least twice a week. Please don't read this review, and don't pay attention to it! Then all the herring is mine!! :-) :-) :-)

I've been going to Kras for almost 16 years, now on and off, as I no longer live in Amsterdam, but whenever I'm in the area and have the opportunity, I always pop in. What a skilled couple and what SUBLIME herring. In my opinion, Kras is the best fishmonger in the Netherlands!

Best haring I've had in the Netherlands so far. So fresh, smooth, melts in your mouth, and salted perfectly. Also recommend the broodje gerookte paling en broodje kibbeling.

Exceptional kibbeling. The kibbleling here was the best I had on my NL visit. I live in the UK so naturally have had a lot of great fried fish, but I'd say this beats all of them on flavour (even coastal Scotland). It was pricey, but not bad for central Amsterdam, and you're certainly getting quality, which more than justifies the price. If you want the best kibbeling, go here. Service was perfect too.

Coincidentally in the area and reviewed the reviews. The bickering in particular seems to be dangerous. But I was still tempted to order a herring and a portion of kibbeling with ravigotte sauce. Nice man (Nico) and woman, are polite in Amsterdam. Many regular old people come to this place. I think it was because of the nice weather that everything went smoothly. The kibbeling price was acceptable for the amount of kibbeling. The herring was clean and literally boneless. The taste of the herring was slightly salty and slightly oily. The herring was okay. I have had better herring before, but with this herring one could not complain. The kibbeling was already baked. Was thrown in the air fryer. This was the first time I had eaten kibbeling from the air fryer. Large pieces of which you could still see the little bit of fat. Pure cod indeed. Perhaps this batch of kibbeling turned out well. It wasn't perfect but it wasn't nasty either. Plenty enough to eat and enjoy. The sauce was generously given and was sufficient for the number of bites. I think I would give 5 stars if the kibbeling was just freshly baked. But I couldn't really see whether those facilities were there in the small tent. In any case, this experience is more than sufficient.

I heard that I had to try Haring Sandwich when I came to the Netherlands, so I went to the place with the highest rating, and it was good and not as fishy as I expected! It's a small food corner run by two elderly owners. There are a lot of locals. They just buy a lot of pickled fish. The fish sandwich is so unique that I think it would be nice to try it at least once haha. However, it doesn't smell fishy when you eat it, but for some reason there is a slight scent that lingers after eating, so cola is a must and gum is a must after eating haha. I saw a Korean review saying that fried squid was delicious, so I ordered it and they reheated it for me. Friendly. The squid was plump and the herb seasoning was delicious. It would have been a shame if I hadn't ordered it. I was nervous because everyone in front of me was Dutch and I could only order in Dutch, but luckily the owners spoke good English and were friendly! There are about 6-7 simple tables around so you can eat and go.

In this small kiosk you can taste typical fresh harring with onion and pikles. It also offer other specialities like crab salad and fried cod fish. Not many space to seat nearby, so it is better to move to some park.

everything was delicious, there might be a line but definitely worth it. One of the best in town. Owned and operated by lovey people who also speaks excelent English. Place to sit outside overseeing the Maritime museum. I recommend trying different fish and sharing as there are a lot of options. I prefer pistolet(white bread) but it ran out this time. Haring was balanced in terms of salt. Crabsalade was very silky and taste. Consider trying this place before or after for visit the Scheepvaartmuseum (Maritime Museum) for a snack or quick lunch. Don’t forget to check opening times as it is open for 4 days.

Top notch herring sandwich. Yes, it looks rough but the taste is nothing like its appearance. It’s buttery and smooth. Kibbeling was great as well - yes, microwaved so not as crispy as I wished but from what I gather, many street stalls are not allowed to be fully equipped with ovens and such. But despite that, the fluffiness is actually a quite nice texture and it’s not dry at all! All in all served with a generous dose of sauce. The man serving us was a gentleman, and he was fast too. Small tables and benches around, so easy to sit near the stall!

Nice place for haaring or lekkerbekje where you can relax away from the busy crowds from the center. Nice friendly staff as well.

Found this gem hidden from in plain sight just in front of maritime museum. Just simple comfort food with full of flavors. You will feel the entire sea that in each bite of this thing. Do not miss this if you are in Amsterdam!
