The menu leaves no option out, this is a great seafood feast experience. Service is great, the place is buzzing and alive. Loved it, we will be back.

Had a lovely meal here before catching our train out of Amsterdam. We were talked through the specials at the counter - a nice touch so you could see how fresh everything was. Service was prompt and professional. We had the fish and chips and red snapper with saffron risotto (one of the specials). Both were excellent. We also shared some calamari which came out crisp and hot. Restaurant was set in a beautiful building and was busy - creating a nice atmosphere. We managed to book on the day (Saturday) as we were eating early but I’d recommend booking in advance if you are eating 6pm onwards.

Was disappointed with a food quality (haven’t been here for 3 years and looks like things go nice because they don’t pay attention anymore to food) - oysters were opened without cleaning- a lot of dust in it and the size is smallest - everything is oversalted - spaghetti vongole was tasteless (( - but the price increases

My flight crew and I were in Amsterdam for a couple nights and had one free day to explore town. After a morning of walking all over a shopping district then the Red Light district and Chinatown area, we were looking to grab lunch before heading back out to the Renaissance by Marriott near Schiphol airport. All of us are fans of seafood, so when I spotted The Seafood Bar we decided to give it a try. Our timing was good as we were quickly seated and shortly afterwards the place was packed with a lunch crowd. Staff was friendly and attentive. My copilot a mixed grill (pictured) and I ordered snapper with risotto. We split a crab cake appetizer. Everything was good. Total for the two of us came to about €90. Two entrees, an appetizer, three nonalcoholic drinks and a bottle of water. We sent the flight attendant a photo of the menu and she ate there a few hours later.

WARNING! We came here on a recommendation. We had a reservation. There was no wait. When we arrived, the person who greeted us told us that the sea bass and amberjack were at a fixed price. He brought us to the table and said someone else would come to take our order. After a while, a waiter arrived, and we asked him to bring a Coca-Cola Zero for my wife. He said they were out of that drink. When we asked about the prices for the sea bass and amberjack, he said he wasn't sure. He left and returned to confirm the option. When the starter of prawns in butter and garlic arrived, I asked for bread. We were told they were out of bread. Sea bass was decent, but nothing spectacular. Absolutely exorbitant prices for the service they provide. I do not recommend it.

I think price is reasonable. Shellfish platter for 1 suited me perfectly, but I also wanted to try lobster soup, so ordered one. Highly recommend.

Always eat at Van Baerlestraat but cheated at Damrak. I just want to compliment Sam, the top host, and the woman behind the bar with all the tattoos. Both are top notch, and yes, the oysters are of course top quality, btw.

The food was good, but the service was disappointing. Our reservation was at 9:30, and it is reasonable to expect the waiter to inform us that the kitchen closes at 10. Instead, no mention was made, and our food arrived just before closing. When we asked to add another dish a few minutes later, the waiter refused, even though food was still being prepared. His response was simply “it’s written everywhere,” which felt dismissive. Clear communication and a more considerate approach from staff would have made the experience much better. I hope management addresses this, as the restaurant has potential, but the service needs improvement.

We went to eat to this place yesterday evening, and took the seafood plate with a friend of mine. The place was wonderful, the food was really great, and the waiters were adorable (special thanks to Isha). I recommend it without any doubts.

Today, on National Neighbor Day, we were invited to The Seafood Bar for brunch. We enjoyed delicious dishes with locals. They even catered to a vegetarian in our group. Thank you so much, we'll definitely be back!

Going out for any meal I always look at the menu first which was super impressive. From the moment we walked into the restaurant the atmosphere was welcoming and everyone set such a wonderful tone which made the initial sit down comfortable. What really made the experience was the service from Isha. She clearly had a passion for seafood, and being a foodie myself, this made the experience even more enjoyable. She was so friendly and full of great vibes, what I really appreciate in people! So thank you Isha for making our experience that more enjoyable! I am incredibly sorry to say I had a truly negative experience here last night. First of all the waiter made a couple of mistakes. First I was given the wrong wine which was quickly corrected. However I was then given the wrong main, and it would have been a bit of a douche move for me to send it back so I went with it. I just want to stress that this is a minor part of my complaint, as I respect how hard a job being a waiter is, and have a lot of respect for the people brave enough to do it. However the food quality was without hyperbole, abysmal. I had a 24pce oyster platter to start. They were swimming in water and overly salty. I suspect they may have been frozen, and did ask if they were. I was told they weren't, and this may be true as they didn't have the bitterness frozen oysters tend to have. However they weren't very good yet quite expensive. The true crime though was the cold seafood platter. I was given the wrong one as previously stated, having ordered the premium version that came with lobster. The platter consisted of small fiddly food that was more trouble than its worth to eat. The prawns were a joke. They were clearly not fresh, as they crumbled and squished in my hand as I peeled them. They also lacked flavour and frankly close to the worst prawns I have ever eaten. There was also an even smaller variety of prawn/shrimp on the platter which shared the same negative aspects. Keep in mind that the food was very expensive, so I was expecting a certain level of quality that simply wasn't delivered. Again I want to reiterate my lack of beef with the waiter. He was enthusiastic and made me feel very welcome which is something I truly appreciate.

The Seafood chain restaurants are always a good choice. Same as it was tlhis time on Damrak restaurant. Food is fresh, tasty.There is wide choice of different dishes. Staff is friendly and helpful. The only "but" are prices which are coming more and more high. Remeber to book in advance the table. ps.Do.something with air flow as it is quite hot.

The seafood itself was nothing short of outstanding. Everything tasted incredibly fresh, and you can tell great care is taken in sourcing and preparation. The oysters were also amazing, the grilled fish was cooked to perfection. Each plate was presented with attention to detail, which added to the overall experience. Service was another highlight. The staff was attentive without being intrusive, always checking in at the right moments. They were knowledgeable about the menu, happily making recommendations and explaining the nuances of different dishes. It never felt rushed, but everything arrived promptly and with a smile, which made the evening feel effortless. 🫶 What really stood out, though, was how the whole experience came together: great food, warm service, and a relaxing, well-designed space - we booked for dinner & loved it.

The seafood bar is in a very good location not far from the central station, and the seafood they serve is quite delicious, always crowded in this restaurant.

Visited on the evening of 24th September. The hostess at the entrance was rude and unaccommodating, which created an unpleasant first impression. Additionally, the quality of the food did not align with the restaurant’s high rating. There is considerable room for improvement in both service and overall dining experience.

A classic seafood restaurant in a beautiful setting. We dined here with several international guests, and the service was clear, fluent in English, and helpful to our younger children. Not the cheapest location in Amsterdam, but you get what you pay for. Definitely worth it.

He gave excellent menu recommendations, checked in on us at just the right times, and made sure everything came out quickly and exactly as ordered. What stood out most was his warm and genuine attitude — he created such a welcoming atmosphere and made us feel truly taken care of. This seafood restaurant in Amsterdam has four branches across the city. It’s usually very busy, and reservations are recommended. The food is fresh, tasty, and cooked right in front of the tables, which makes the experience more enjoyable. Overall, the dishes are excellent, and I definitely recommend trying them. However, the cleanliness of the tables could be improved, and I noticed that some chefs don’t always use gloves when handling ingredients before cooking, which might concern some guests. In general, it was a good experience.

We honestly weren't expecting much from a restaurant on the tourist-packed Damrak, but we were pleasantly surprised! Because we had a reservation, we were able to skip the line of "fortune seekers," got a great spot, and had a wonderful evening. Mauricio and his colleagues provided very personal, friendly, and professional service. The oysters were excellent, as were the Grüner Veltliner, and the mixed grill was superb and a very generous portion. The crème brûlée was also excellent—in short, highly recommended!

A great restaurant with delicious, fresh seafood. We had the Collaboration Grill and See food, and it was absolutely delicious. Even though the restaurant was fully booked at 7:00 PM, the wait for a table was only 25 minutes, but after ordering, the food arrived within 10 minutes—very fast service. We'll definitely be back.

This was a really excellent dining experience from start to finish. We were welcomed by a friendly team member and taken through the menu. The food, service and atmosphere were all top class. One of the best fish meals we have had anywhere!

TOURISTS, BEWARE. My family and I dined at the Damrak 213 location on Thursday September 11 for 5 pm (the original reservation was for 7:15, but the assistant manager let us change it to an earlier time which I was grateful for at the time). At first everything seemed ok. But it just went downhill from there. We were sat in the far back of the restaurant. Firstly when we sat down, we had a male server asked what we would like to start with. I asked for some time and he left. He never came back. It took forever to wave someone down. It felt like they didnt want to take my order. While I was waiting for someone to serve us, I saw the same assistant manager take a seat in front of us with their male companion. Multiple staff went up to them to provide them with drinks and food and were super attentive. (Perhaps she just finished her shift, and wanted to eat at her place of work which is fine- but atleast have staff serve the customers when they are waving for attention) The assistant manager and their companion had full were service way before I could even order drinks or food. Secondly, I ordered a coke zero. A female server brought it with a separate glass of ice. I saw that there was two dead flies sitting on my ice. I told the server and she apologized and took it away. I shook it off, bugs happen. No problem. Food was decent for what it was. And I enjoyed it at the time. Shrimp was slightly undercooked but overall ok for the platter we purchased. Nothing to write home about. Its nice that the location is central. The issue I am primarily upset about is the service and attitude of the wait staff. When I made my reservation a week ago, I was required to pay 10 euro per person (50 euro in total). We finished around 6:30pm and a different female server asked us if we were done as she needed us to leave. She slapped down the bill and told us to pay 174,20 euro. I asked her if we could do it in cash. And she rolled her eyes. The bill was in dutch and she pointed to the the 174, 20. She waited in front of us and I told her we needed to count cash. So she left ~2 min and then came back again and it felt like being rushed. She repeated the total of 174, 20 and watched me count out 4,20 in coins. I think at the time, it didn’t register for me to really look at the bill as I was unimpressed with the attitude. I understand that she needed to clean the table for the next upcoming customer but she could have waited for atleast 5 minutes. And the restaurant wasn’t even busy. We paid the total in exact. My family members also needed to use the washroom. Once the server took the money she never came back. Nobody rushed us then after the payment was received. So we stayed an extra 10’minutes for each member to use the washroom at the front entrance of the restaurant down to the basement. After leaving the restaurant I looked at the bill and remembered that I paid for a deposit. We should have paid 124, 20 not 174, 20. Therefore the server took an extra 50 euros from us. I’m very disappointed that the staff member told me directly that I needed to pay 174, 20 euros and was rushing us and that when she picked it up she didnt say anything. We gave a 100 euro bill, 50 euro bill, 20 euro bill and coins. I also understand it was my fault for not looking at the bill and confirming with what I actually owed. I contacted the store to no avail. I emailed info@theseafoodbar.com and received a response from Frank hello@theseafoodbar.nl. While I appreciate that a response was given, I’m not satisfied with the answer as they stated that change would have been provided to me (which is a total lie). After providing payment and waiting for around an extra 10-15 minutes. There was plenty of opportunity for the server to tell us we overpaid or provide us with change that is due. Disappointed and would not recommend. Can’t help but to feel that with the attitude of the staff, its like they hated us because we’re tourists and don’t speak Dutch.

I’m writing this looking at my server George stand around chatting with another server as we wait for our bill. He dropped the food on our table and never came back until after the meal was done. The expectations on service might be different here than in Canada, but it was not great. The food however was fantastic and the restaurant was really nice. The hostess was extremely friendly and helpful so this is a tough review to leave. As I was writing this he brought the bill to the table beside us. They asked for there bill a good 15 minutes after us.

Four of us had a delicious seafood meal along with a few drinks and our server Mauricio was outstanding …would definitely recommend the seafood bar to anyone who is spending time in Amsterdam
