We both chose the midday lunch special and were very satisfied (table 34). More than enough food and very tasty. Friendly service, beautiful view of the landscape. Worth repeating!

Great place with one of the most beautiful views in the area. The food is of good quality, although it must be said that the menu is quite traditional and not very challenging. The prices are on the high side. But the quality makes up for a lot.

In our memory, the Lodge was a cozy place. However, it now has a different owner. The view remains beautiful. But the service and the food are very poor. I had a chicken sandwich. The chicken was dried out and tasteless. The bread was stale. The young man serving was not friendly. This place therefore gets ❌❌❌

The ambiance is lovely, but unfortunately, everything else is terrible. Upon arrival, there were few guests outside, and the table was dirty. The floor hadn't been swept. After that, the service was abysmal, and the food was very poor. The salad had no dressing for just two guests, and the trout wasn't fresh. It was significantly better before the change of ownership.

New owners since 2026. Very poor food quality; we ordered a carpaccio sandwich and left it all untouched. There was little staff present, high prices for poor quality. The restaurant has so much potential with such a beautiful view, but unfortunately..

Very tasty food with a great view over South Limburg. Very friendly staff.

We stopped there once for something to drink and eat. After we had taken our seats, it took at least 20 minutes before the waitress came to us; she apologized for the lack of staff. She took our order very clumsily, and we really had to wait well over 30 minutes for our drinks. We didn't order anything special. We wanted to order food, but that took so long that we just left. Very, very bad there with those new owners.

It was very pleasant there and dogs are welcome too, and the owner even personally came to bring water and was very friendly.

We only had drinks, but the view was fantastic. The place was beautifully decorated and the staff were friendly.

Not recommended. New owners don't have things well organized. We waited an hour for our food and still hadn't received anything, so we just left and went back to Buitenlust, where we were well served.

Beautiful location, service neat and correct, quality of the food also very good, but everything takes so long. Waiting 1 hour and 15 minutes for a carpaccio sandwich. And even then, there was no truffle mayonnaise on it as stated on the menu. We were given the reason ‘because the boss doesn’t want that anymore’. However, it was handled well by the staff.

We received our drinks quickly, but we weren't offered a menu; we had to ask for one. Of the approximately 25 dishes listed, only 7 were available. After the waiter listlessly brought the menu, he didn't reappear for ages to take our order. Instead, he strolled back and forth in front of the counter, looking bored. We had to call him again to order. We finally ordered an omelet on bread, but apparently, the hen hadn't laid the egg yet, otherwise the preparation time would have been inexplicable.

We tried to have lunch here this afternoon. The arrival was already mediocre. Poor service, grumpy waiter. When we wanted to order drinks, we were immediately told, "Yeah, you can forget about what you want to order; we don't have that menu anymore." Subsequently, one menu was brought for 8 people. They didn't have any more (the terrace wasn't full). After the drinks were brought, we wanted to order food immediately, but the waiter walked away right away. They didn't come back to take our food orders after that either. Beautiful location... but we left; what a terrible place. The owner simply ignores you if you want to indicate that you have a complaint.

Had to wait an hour and a half for a croque and a hot ice tea! The croque was almost finished when the ketchup arrived and they had forgotten the cutlery. And it was pricey too!

Waiting time for a queuu: one and a half hours. Iced tea way too hot Dried-out bread, no cutlery. Too bad, beautiful location. Too bad about the service.

We arrived at the lodge around 2:00 PM, ordered a drink, and asked for the menu. It turned out we could only order from the bar menu, which was also stated on the website. Okay. However, several people were eating a delicious omelet, so we ordered one too. One waiter said they were out of products and the order hadn't gone through... and the other waiter explained that the fuses blew and they could only use one burner... while others were getting their lunch in the meantime... we had our reservations and the feeling that they didn't want to serve us. Why? I have no idea. Much confidence for a next visit? Definitely not; this was the first and last time.

The view is spectacular and is definitely the highlight of this venue. Unfortunately, the rest of our experience was disappointing. The service was very slow, and the staff member who served us came across as rather rude. Our drinks arrived about 10 minutes after our cake. The cake itself was also quite bland and lacked flavour. Overall, the beautiful view wasn't enough to make up for the disappointing service and cake.

I used to come to this restaurant and loved it. The service was always welcoming. I took my family there today in the hope to introduce them to it so they too can fall in love with it. Unfortunately they were not impressed and I was extremely disappointed in the service!! The waiter seemed annoyed when taking our orders. Made us feel like we were a nuisance for him. Because of him we felt the atmosphere wasn’t what we expected either. When I asked if we can have the rest of my granddaughter to take, again he gave an attitude. Not friendly at all. It is a pitty because it is a beautiful restaurant. The food was good. Very tasty and beautiful presented. Just the service was very poor. Maybe he did not like us🥴.

Nice restaurant in a stunning environment. Lots of free parkingspace right next to the restaurant. It has a nice terrace outside with a stunning view. A good lunch menu. Next to the restaurant is a big forest where you can have nice walks. It is situated on the farthest south east point of the Netherlands, close to the German and the Belgium border.

We've known this restaurant for many years. We recently tried it again under new management. The beautiful terrace offers a spectacular panoramic view towards the tripoint near Aachen. Our order was taken promptly and courteously, and arrived after a short wait. The dishes were edible, but lacked that certain something to make them truly special. Considering the inviting atmosphere, we felt the price-performance ratio was unfortunately not right.

It was a belated Father's Day lunch. We have been to Lodge many times in the past, at this beautiful location. Unfortunately, this experience was anything but positive. First of all, there was no menu available. Next, it turned out that the dish we had actually come for, the sour meat, was unavailable. Eventually, the four of us ordered our dishes: three cold dishes and one hot dish. Although it wasn't particularly busy at that moment, we had to wait no less than 45 minutes before the plates arrived at the table. After that, a schnitzel was served that, in my opinion, should never have left the kitchen. The schnitzel was at most 2 to 3 millimeters thick and so dry and hard that it was simply inedible. The friendly young waitress handled this very well, however. She apologized and indicated that she would arrange a new schnitzel. What happened next would not have been out of place in an episode of Fawlty Towers. The owner came to the table with a small plate containing a raw, breaded schnitzel. She asked if this schnitzel was acceptable, only to have it prepared in the kitchen. The way this was handled gave me and my table companions the strong impression that it was apparently my fault that I hadn't finished the first schnitzel. At that moment, I decided to cancel the order, pay the bill, and leave the establishment. A compliment to the friendly young waitress is certainly in order here. She came to apologize politely once again and handled the situation correctly. The remaining dishes were unimaginative, but edible. Nevertheless, it is a great pity that a location with such a beautiful ambiance falls so short on a culinary and hospitality level. A lot will have to happen before we eat here again. What should have been a nice and pleasant lunch for my father turned into a surreal and disappointing experience. Somewhat bewildered and deeply disappointed, we went home. By then, the rain was also coming down in buckets. The heavens cried with us.

Nice place to relax for a bit and have something to eat or drink. The terrace has a beautiful view. Personally, however, I would have liked a little more time to settle in. We were asked what we wanted to drink before we had even sat down. But otherwise, it was a pleasant experience.

We recently celebrated our anniversary here with my boyfriend with a small dinner. We found the service to be very pleasant; when our drinks ran out or were almost gone, someone came quite quickly to ask if we wanted anything. The food was delicious and prepared quickly. The servers were attentive and engaged. The specialty beers were also fun to try. We had a beautiful view and enjoyed ourselves. It was quite quiet during our visit; we arrived around 6:30 PM.

Take a break during the hike on the beautiful panoramic terrace. Enjoy a charcuterie board.

Disappointment, after years of having eaten and enjoyed ourselves so wonderfully here. It turned out to be uninviting, lacking atmosphere, and the food was actually just not tasty. A real shame for this beautiful location!

We didn't eat there because very bad weather was coming, so we quickly went back to the hotel.

Bitterballen were no longer served because it was past 4:00 PM. After us, other guests were served fried snacks. Nice place, but the service is terrible.

We celebrated our daughter's Communion party at Giraffe Lodge. In one word: AMAZING. A beautiful location with stunning views. We were warmly welcomed by the Giraffe Lodge team, and Celine and her colleague in particular did everything they could to make this day unforgettable. We are very grateful!

The Giraffe Lodge is beautifully situated in the hills. We ordered dishes from the bar menu. Unfortunately, on Tuesdays and Wednesdays they serve only items from the bar menu. We had the charcuterie board, the bitterballen, the shrimp croquettes, and fries. It was all tasty, although there was very little meat in the bitterballen. The staff was friendly and the view was beautiful.

Since March 2026, the establishment has been in the hands of new owners. The reviews from before this date are therefore no longer current. We went there with friends for lunch, but found it quite disappointing. There was one or more things wrong with every dish. In the salmon salad I ordered, the lettuce was old (it contained brown parts) and the salmon also tasted as if it had been open for a while. Furthermore, in my opinion, far too much dressing was used, and I found the presentation as well as the portions substandard for a meal salad (see photo). It is also strange that a surcharge is charged for brown bread if you order a roll. After ordering, it turned out the rolls were sold out (it was just lunchtime???) and two slices of brown bread were offered as an alternative. I could actually go on with the comments and criticisms, but I will leave it at that. The service was friendly and attentive. The view is beautiful, but I won't be going there for the food again.

We had a lovely time in this cosy little lodge, up in the mountains. Sandor was an absolute sweetheart, going above and beyond to make us feel welcome. He made sure to help us find vegetarian options (a bread board with home-made butter and lemon ravioli). The olive oil was exceptionally delicious ❤️

Great food, great price, beautiful location

After commemorating my father's passing last Monday, the three of us arrived at the unfortunately closed lodge. The owner had just arrived with the groceries and offered us a cup of coffee/cappuccino and a piece of pie anyway. Thank you so much again, fantastic!

We were the first ones seated on the terrace, so I went inside to place an order, but the boy said he would come outside. After about fifteen minutes, a girl came to take our order. As more and more people arrived on the terrace (5 tables), they all received their orders before us (even with food). At the very end, I went inside to check and was told that we had a difficult order (2x latte, green ice tea, blackcurrant juice, coffee). We have been going there for as long as I can remember, but we have never experienced anything like this. A bad experience, unfortunately.

Unfortunately, it didn't meet expectations. The location is beautiful, but the staff took forever to take our order and bring just two drinks. They didn't bring an ashtray, despite our request. It's a shame; despite the lovely view and ambiance, it won't be a good experience.

We were a big group of several families and we appreciated very much that they did their best to receive us given their constraints. Food was good. The view is beautiful. However the wait to get the meal was a bit long.

Threatened by the new owner, he told us to get off his parking lot. Unfortunately, he missed out on 20 people for lunch.

We arrived late in the evening. They were super friendly and we were received in a pleasant and warm manner. A dessert was even made. Top-notch service and an absolutely beautiful place.

The food was fine, the view still special. The service needs to improve: very slow upon arrival. We saved the owners from a disaster, because the daily special with asparagus was listed as €0 in the system. We had three of them, so if we hadn't said anything, that would have been almost €75 short.

Giraffe Lodge, an anchor for the soul

We have been there often in the past and it was very good. Now, on April 17, 2026, we went there again with a group with the new owner, and it was very bad. The food was cold, the service was unfriendly, and the owner was desperate; what a shame. We therefore ate there for the last time.

Didn't eat, but what passed by looked tasty. The place opened recently. It takes a bit of getting used to for everyone, but it should work out fine.

Scandalously good shrimp croquettes and incredibly friendly and courteous people.

During our drive to a geocache, we passed the Giraffe Lodge. We stopped here to enjoy the view. It is now dinnertime, and we are going to have a sandwich here. During our conversation, it became clear that they have been open since March 20 of this year. The staff is very friendly, the view is amazing, and the food is tasty and fresh. They are generous with the toppings. If we are ever in the area again, we will definitely come back.

Today, March 26, 2026, we had a delicious meal at Giraffe Lodge, which has just opened. Not a huge menu, but rather nice and well-organized. The hospitality really stood out: the door was open upon arrival, personal attention, and we were even politely escorted back outside. The staff is friendly and attentive. They brought a bag of Haribo for the kids – so thoughtful (and secretly Mom and Dad too 😉). Inside, it was pleasantly warm, beautifully and tastefully decorated, and the restrooms were spotlessly clean. Nice background music, the food delicious and beautifully presented. And then that view... with the tower of the Three-Country Point in the distance. Truly the kind of place where you feel welcome. Good luck, we will definitely be back!

Old, shabby, and dirty place. The interior has seen better days. The staff wasn't unfriendly, but it does give the impression that everything has been in need of a proper renovation for ages. The coffee was OK, but not very hot.

We had a reservation for lunch, but the extremely long wait was the most striking thing. It took at least fifteen minutes before someone took our order, despite waving multiple times, and tables around us were also waiting for a long time or even leaving. The service came across as inexperienced and slow. For instance, two staff members brought four pieces of pie to a single table together, while other guests were still waiting to be served at all. The hygiene also left much to be desired: with the coffee, my friend received a spoon with inexplicable stains. Additionally, tables were not cleared, causing people to sit for a long time with dirty plates left in front of them by the previous diner. Some guests even started clearing tables themselves and sweeping the dirt onto the floor with napkins. The food was tasty and the location beautiful, but the slow service, poor organization, and hygiene make this an unpleasant experience. The new owners have adopted the good reviews from the previous ones, which, in our opinion, is completely unjustified.

Beautiful place, with enough space to park. The owner is amazing and very kind. Sadly we couldn’t make it to breakfast with coffee in the morning. But will definitely come back to eat! Just a lovely place 10/10. Thank you Ursula!

Food was good, service terrible.

Upon entering, no one even looked up. Unfriendliness. The lady (the owner) who was washing the glasses didn't even look up and was very slow at washing them. Afterwards, I asked a young lady if we could sit outside, as there was a table free there. She had to check with the owner first. The answer I received was that it was busy, there was a shortage of staff, and we weren't allowed to sit there. Then a couple came up behind us who probably knew the owner who was washing the glasses, and they were allowed to sit there. At that point, I told the young lady that I didn't think that was acceptable, and she said she would say something about it. We didn't wait for that and left. It's a shame, but I don't think we'll be going there again. Even though we used to go there more often. Customer friendliness is nowhere to be found there.

You can eat well there. Unfortunately, I've been stopped several times due to limited opening hours, which is a shame.

Friendly and correct service and a great view and excellent food.

May 10th we were able to celebrate our wedding at Lodge. Last year we had a conversation with Ilona about our wedding and we were immediately so enthusiastic about her ideas. Ilona thought along with everything and nothing was too much. On Friday we were able to decorate ourselves and Ilona and her team dotted the i's. From the decorations at the wedding itself, to the set table, to the food, everything was really perfect. The staff who were present at our wedding all day knew what they were doing and the guests did not want for anything on our wedding day. The location is great and we were very lucky with the weather, which sometimes made you feel like you were in Italy. Our compliments and thanks for organizing and thinking along on our wedding day, thanks to you as a team we had a great day and enjoyed it immensely!

Stopped here on a motorcycle ride. Despite many reservations, they still made an effort to find a table for two 👌. The food was delicious, nothing to complain about. There was a sign saying they were taking over the business. Hopefully, that won't affect the food, because it was delicious. Highly recommended.

Restaurant with a beautiful view

On April 25, 2025 we held our small intimate wedding at Lodge in Vaals. From the beginning we have had very nice contact with Ilona. From first introductions to exchanging ideas to preparations and the actual implementation of this special day. Lodge not only has a fantastic location with good food, but also fantastic employees with a passion for hospitality. We are so very grateful that we were able to celebrate our special day at this special location. A thousand thanks. 🤍
