Nice outside on the terrace in the sun, beautiful view. We had to wait a while but not long for a spot and a good menu and delicious food.

Another fantastic meal. What I've read about unfriendly staff??? We don't recognize this at all. We eat here regularly. And it's a treat every time.

A lovely restaurant for a stopover on a bike ride through the Limburg hills. You can charge your bike battery while enjoying a snack or a drink. The terrace offers a beautiful view of the hills. The chicken pie was delicious. The fried eggs were good and served on delicious fresh bread. The service was quick and friendly.

Sadly, a disappointment. Dry, tough sauerkraut, limp fries, unappetizing salad, bagged prawn crackers, and a beautiful view don't make up for everything. Our comment was heard, nothing more.

I can't give fewer stars. This is such a terrible place! It was incredibly rude. We wanted lunch and opted for the nachos, which weren't particularly special. They only had cheese and a few peppers. After taking three bites, we suddenly saw a roasted chicken. I politely reported it, and they simply took the plate away without an apology. They didn't ask if we could have something else, so I finally said, "No, I don't want another one." Then the bill arrived, and the man insisted we pay half, but I didn't think so. Never again! These antisocial people!

This is a wonderful place. Beautifully decorated and very clean. They serve excellent food. Friendly staff who are happy to help if you need anything special.

It is better to reserve a table in advance

We had seen this restaurant the day before and it seemed to have a nice atmosphere. So we decided to have dinner there the next day. The atmosphere is quite pleasant, and from the outside, the restaurant looks really nice. Unfortunately, when we arrived at the table, it wasn't clean, neither on the table nor on the floor. We decided to have the daily special, which was marked as fish of the day. This choice was made based on the fact that a daily special is always fresh. For today's special, mussels were planned. The official price was €24.50 with French fries, two sauces, and a side dish. For starters, I had the soup of the day, tomato soup. For drinks, we ordered an iced tea, a small beer, and a wheat beer. The staff was friendly, but you could tell they were students. The drinks arrived very quickly. The soup starter was also served in a timely manner. The soup was excellent; you could tell it was cooked with fresh vegetables. We were very surprised when the official two portions of the day—mussels—arrived. It was a small pot, three-quarters full of mussels. It came with two dipping sauces and the accompanying French fries. A small salad was also served. This would have been a single portion, but we were informed that it was for two people. The mussels were still swimming in water, and we had to scoop them out ourselves with a ladle. They were very small mussels. Unfortunately, they weren't very tasty. The French fries were appropriate. The salad wasn't very well dressed. Since we thought it was too little, we ordered another portion of French fries. Overall, the main course has to be rated below average. Definitely not recommended! The starter, soup, as mentioned above, was very good. You can't really go wrong with the drinks, but I think €5.05 for a 0.3-liter baby wheat beer is way too high! We paid €83.10 for the entire meal and drinks. Two of the daily specials were charged €0.50 more than the menu stated, and the soup was charged one euro more than the menu stated. The total price and the incorrect billing surprised us, so we didn't leave a tip. That's why we wrote this honest review. Marco Rogalski, August 25, 2025

It was our meeting point to ride into the Eifel region with our motorcycle friends. Delicious lunch, excellent service, and a beautiful location with stunning views. The route there and around it also features some lovely winding roads.

We were here two years ago! Had a delicious lunch! My husband said...best fried egg sandwich ever!! In five weeks, we're going back to South Limburg for a week, so we'll definitely have another delicious lunch here and enjoy the stunning view!!

We had a fantastic meal at Buitenlust this week, a super fun family-run business! The view is beautiful, the food is really good, tasty, and beautifully presented, and the tranquility of nature is wonderful! Even on a hot day, it's a pleasure thanks to the many shady spots! The staff is also very friendly, and even very quick despite the crowds! The price-quality ratio is excellent and affordable! The only thing is that it would be nice to have some relaxing background music, which would be a 10/10 for me!

Extremely unfriendly. We arrived on Sunday after a walk from the Hijgend Hert. We were on the pub crawl. We only wanted a drink. We weren't allowed in. They didn't even give me a glass of water for my 80-year-old mother. I honestly couldn't believe my ears.

Beautiful place, beautiful view...but people in wheelchairs are not welcome. There are no ways to enter or access the terrace. There's also a downstairs terrace, but when I asked how people in wheelchairs could have a drink there, the answer was "no," no explanation, nothing. So the downstairs terrace wasn't opened, and no space was created for us to stand or sit. (After a two-hour drive.) So we had to leave. People have absolutely no idea what that feels like! We'll find something where we feel welcome!

Pretty good, amazing view, strange that you're served sugar-free orange juice without asking. When I asked why, I was told: well, the supplier didn't provide anything else...! Impossible! A very poor result.

At a quarter to 5, we wanted to stop here for a quick drink. However, we were turned away from the then-empty terrace because people who had reservations would be arriving from 5 p.m. onward. Very inhospitable.

Update August 2025: It's gotten really expensive here. There are a few sandwiches on the menu, croquettes, meatballs, and vidéé. Just expensive, a handful of fries and a handful of lettuce, and that's it. Salads are very expensive. There's a free view, but you pay for it twice over in the drinks and food. There's a limit to what you can ask for! We won't be going back. Nice place with a limited menu, definitely not a restaurant, and with those prices. Apparently, many people were only drinking. The toilets were also old and dirty, yuck. We paid but didn't tip because it was already expensive enough. We didn't even get a hello. Duh. Beautiful location with several terraces with spectacular views. Good menu with tasty, affordable, and generous portions. Always too busy on weekends, but still available during the week. A real hangout for many people. Dogs are also welcome. Super friendly, true Limburg hospitality!

This is a really nice restaurant located in the country side. We arrived here by accident on our way to Landgraaf (from Margraten). Seating outside offers a wonderful view of Zuid Limburg (view of the hills). We ordered the sate, schnitzel and fish (of the day). Especially, the sate was really good. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Parking is just below the restaurant but you may want to check availability of the restaurant as this place can be busy.

We arrived twice in two days. No reservations, but plenty of room. The first time, it threatened to rain; no, I'd rather not, was the message. The second time, it had rained, no reservations, plenty of room. The answer was: the tables were wet. So what? Just wipe them down and sit down! But nothing, not a single attempt to help us. And all this while it looked cozy with a stunning view. Well...

Chef Vincent cooks as if his cookware was blessed by Gordon Ramsay. Every bite is a flavor explosion that still needs some therapy. The terrace is also cozy with a fantastic view.

What a great place to enjoy culinary delights, with a phenomenal view of the Limburg hills, with of course a view of the famous bronze-green oak. The service often understands them and there is time for a nice chat at the table! Friesland is beautiful (we as Frisians think so...), but in Limburg they can do something too!! The food was of a high standard, and price/quality absolutely good... on all fronts value for money!!

De ligging kan niet beter. Wat een prachtig uitzicht. We hadden een tafel gereserveerd op het terras. Omdat het deze dag nogal warm was vroeg de man in de bediening ‘Een plek in de schaduw?’ Dat wilden wij. Wij kozen een tafeltje. Toen hij een tijdje later terugkwam om ons drankje te brengen, adviseerde hij ons om toch een andere tafel te kiezen, omdat de plek waar wij zaten over een tijdje in de zon zou komen. Dit waardeerden wij zeer. De uiensoep was heerlijk. We kozen beiden voor een salade. Een met verschillende soorten vis en een met een Val Dieu kaasje en wat friet. Ook dit was lekker. De bediening was erg vriendelijk en het ging allemaal vlot.

What we particularly appreciated was the helpfulness of an employee. He advised us a certain table outside on the terrace and came back fifteen minutes later with the suggestion to sit somewhere else so that we would not sit in the sun.

Had lunch here last weekend. Regional quality... That promises something! First we had to wait until a table became available, which fortunately went quite quickly. After we had ordered our drinks, we were told that we could only order the food after the group that was already there had been served. This involved soup and sandwiches for 20 people and it would take fifteen minutes. That became 20 minutes, so it wasn't too bad. After finally ordering, we had to wait another half hour until we got our two salads. In the meantime, we saw several tables that had arrived after us being served (other districts). One of the staff members from such a different district pointed out to the one from our district that there was a lot ready. Apparently we didn't have priority, because 'our' lady was very busy clearing empty tables. The salads we ordered were certainly not highlights. A deep plate filled with pre-cut, mixed lettuce from the wholesaler; large chunks and stalks. Two drops of dressing on top, at least, I think so. In any case, it was not to be tasted. For me four slices of brie, of which the bottom slice turned out to be the crust, why do you add that? According to the menu, the salads are served with, among other things, seed mix, sun-dried tomatoes and olives. I had no sun-dried tomatoes or olives. My partner did have three pieces of sun-dried tomato and 1 olive. He did not have the trout, but fortunately he did get a piece of eel instead. Before leaving, I went to the toilet, which was not very clean (understatement). Paid €53.30 for two salads and 3/4 liter of water, and no, no tip. Buitenlust only owes its second star to its location, as far as I'm concerned 1.5 stars would have been enough.

Everything is delicious, a wonderful view of nature and sunset and excellent service, I recommend it.

Booked here for a birthday (explicitly stated when booking) but you can't count on a warm welcome. The weather was nice and we hoped to be able to sit outside because of the view (that's what you come to this restaurant for). They wanted to put us next to a table where everyone was smoking. Because of asthma this was not an option for us. The entrepreneur does not have a policy on the terrace or ensures that a part of the terrace is not smoked, while that was quite possible given the layout of the terrace. So we went inside. Don't sit inside when the weather is nice, you'll melt away there and you won't get to see the view anymore. There is no air conditioning or fan. Had to wait quite a long time for the main course. The food, what they serve is okay, but it is also a pretty simple menu and not very special.

Wij komen al 22 jaar naar Zuid Limburg om te wandelen en culinair genieten. We slaan Buitenlust nooit over. Het is een toplocatie en altijd een feest als wij hier lunchen of dineren. Supervriendelijke bediening en heerlijk eten en drinken. En dit al zo lang wij hier komen. Ze verdienen een dikke 10.

Avoid, not nice, very expensive 3.60 for coffee and no right to have a glass of water, on the other hand dogs if they have a full bowl!

We enjoy visiting "Dutch Switzerland" and then taking a break in this lovely restaurant with a fantastic view of Belgium. The service is friendly and very attentive. The food we order is delicious, whether you prefer cake or something savory. We enjoy coming here.

Very good food, the burger was perfect. It was busy, but we still got our food in just a few minutes. The price was a bit high, but completely reasonable given the great view.

I dont say this lightly, but this place slaps. 5 stars. They helped me with my picky order and it tasted phenomenal.

After a bit of cycling and walking it is good to relax with a Leffe 0.0 and a delicious salad with everything on it for two! The ham is cut "French" the dressing is delicious. The sun makes it complete! Do it!
