Troje in Wijk 01 Vaals

We visited today for the first time, but certainly not the last. The premises are very beautiful and interesting, and the staff were friendly and attentive despite the busy atmosphere. And... the food was also excellent, and at a very good price-performance ratio. We highly recommend Troje.

The taste was good, but it's just a real shame that all the meat was cold.....

You always know that a place is good when you see it is full of locals and regulars, which is how this place was. We went early evening and it was already busy. The service was friendly and swift, and the food came out quite quickly. The vast majority of food was really tasty (just the squid was overcooked) and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal.

Reserved here because it has many stars. And they are more than worth it. What a nice place. The atmosphere is great and especially busy. The food... the food was tasty and especially fast. But the staff is a well-oiled machine and incredibly friendly. And all that for a reasonable price.

Even though we had to wait a little while for a table, it was very pleasant. The staff arranged a table very quickly, and we were served quite soon after placing our order. Excellent.

This was my second time there. The moussaka was barely seasoned and lukewarm the first time, and today, menu item number 46... the meat was extremely dry and tough, as was the skewer. You definitely can't offer guests that.

I used to like it better, but nowadays it seems more like a Mac Greek. 5 to 10 minutes after we ordered, one person's food was already on the table, the drinks hadn't even been served yet, and the rest of us were served our food after 10 minutes. If you want to eat quickly and cheaply, it might be okay, but for good food and a nice night out, I'd rather pay a few cents more and go eat somewhere else.

We ordered bifteki, but the food was inedible. The meat was dry and tasteless.

Nice place, large, staff friendly but a long wait before they come. Even when the place isn't full. A pita gyros comes in aluminum foil and the mayonnaise for the fries is plunked on the table in a large plastic bottle of the Lidl house brand. The wine selection consists of red, white, and rosé, all house wine; no idea what kind or where it comes from. The fact that there isn't an extensive wine list is fine, but this is really meager. Also, the main courses arrived 5 minutes after the starters and no one came to our table anymore. Only after repeatedly asking was the table cleared and we were finally able to order something to drink. Mediocre experience.

....it must be due to something, but I don't recognize the “good” reviews in this one; what terrible food. We got takeout on May 12th, and it seemed like it came straight out of the freezer and was reheated in the microwave. Absolutely no taste, dried-out rubber, a waste of money, just like the food! The only thing that had *a little* flavor was the tzatziki.... and when I read in other reviews that it is by far the best Greek restaurant, that it is a missed opportunity if you don't visit them.....then *I* wonder what a truly good Greek restaurant is. Better to stay away from there, in any case. …… never again Troy for us

A very large (and full) restaurant, but there was a table for us. Fast service, delicious food! We felt like we were in Greece – that was also due to a very large group that was very noisy. We finished the dinner with baklava and Greek coffee. Highly recommended.

Eaten here for the 3rd or 4th time, Vaals = Troy: good food, super cozy atmosphere, and incredibly hospitable staff. So many tables and a chat for everyone. Highly recommended, especially considering the reasonable price for a good meal!

Fine if you're hungry, but that's about all there is to say... Very noisy dining room. The food was on the table so quickly that it's impossible everything wasn't already pre-cooked in the kitchen. The food was okay, but not high quality. Given that most guests are tourists and only visit once, the focus is primarily on speed rather than taste. There are a lot of staff walking around, meaning you don't have regular wait staff, making it less personal. If you ask for mayonnaise, you get a huge Aldi mayonnaise bottle on the table......

The service was friendly. However, what was unpleasant and what my guest and I found very unusual was that the plates arrived two minutes after we ordered, and the meat was very dry and only lukewarm. That completely ruined the atmosphere and made us want to come back. 😏

The first time I ate here was absolutely fantastic. The second time was truly awful. I literally threw up around the corner because the food was so greasy, it was dripping off. Such a shame... I didn't even dare return it because the staff was so friendly. I've learned to do that from now on and not eat it against my better judgment.

A very cozy restaurant. A bit noisy, as it was very busy. The food was a little bland for my taste, but there was plenty of it. Very friendly staff. We didn't have to wait long for our food, and it arrived at the table for everyone at the same time, which is quite an achievement for 11 people. There's a restroom downstairs, but there's also a ground-floor restroom for people with disabilities. I would go there again. We stayed for several hours because we had quite a few drinks after our meal. The price I mentioned is mainly due to the amount of drinks we consumed, which was considerable.

I used to go there quite often. But last time I got sick.

We're staying in Vaals for a few days. After dinner at the hotel, we wandered around looking for a restaurant for the following evening. This restaurant was pleasantly packed on Sunday evening. On Monday, it's one of the few open, and it has a good, extensive menu. There's a lot of choice for vegetarians. Good wine, nemea, delicious food, and friendly service made our evening complete. Ouzo on the house, and an extra round of wine made the evening complete. After the bill, another drink on the house, and how incredibly kind, a bottle of olive oil. Highly recommended. If you don't like Greek food, there's also a pizza option.

It was fine, but we were still eating the appetizer and the main course was already there. And it got cold quickly (cold plates).

Unfortunately, and perhaps we were unlucky, this was completely tasteless. The food looked like it had come straight out of the microwave. We've been traveling to Greece for 30 years and know how delicious the food can be there. A one-time mistake perhaps?

The place is packed every evening, which is understandable since you're always greeted and served warmly. It's a very welcoming establishment where you feel comfortable. Unfortunately, the food quality is somewhat inconsistent; sometimes very good, sometimes just average. Bifteki is always a good choice!

Very bad food: baked (fried) feta cheese doesn't taste like feta; you can't really guess what it's supposed to be, definitely not feta. The Greek salad was a joke, the vegetarian pita was raw inside, not tasty ;( Almost everything on the plates was frozen food that had been fried or baked. On top of that, the dishes were garnished with spoiled, old lettuce. Simply disgusting. If this is run by the Greeks, I don't think they can eat it themselves! We definitely don't recommend it!!!!

Delicious! The restaurant was packed, but they made room for six of us. We ordered the Trojan platter for six, and it was DELICIOUS! The staff was very friendly and kind. The ouzo was also a plus.

A very good Greek restaurant in Vaals, the Netherlands. They have a fairly extensive menu, mainly serving Greek food. The dishes are plentiful and the prices are quite affordable. The staff and owners are attentive, and the atmosphere is very casual and family-friendly.

An excellent authentic Greek restaurant. The food and drinks are delicious and the staff is very pleasant. The ambience and music are in Greek style. The prices are affordable. Parking is easy to find across the street. A very nice experience and we will definitely visit the restaurant again.

Just finished eating. Simply fantastic. Tzatziki with flatbread to start, fantastic. Sea bass with fries and salad, fantastic. And a glass of ouzo on the house to start, fantastic.

That was disappointing! We'll be moving to Vaals soon, but this was our first and last time here. The service was okay, but the meat was dry and clearly reheated. The gyros wasn't crispy at all, and the whole thing lacked seasoning. The grilled vegetables were probably from yesterday (you could tell by the color). It's been a long time since I've had such disappointingly bad Greek food.

Waarschijnlijk hebben ze verkeerd ingeschat dat we toeristen waren. Helaas voor hen zijn we toekomstige locals!! Het eten kwam binnen 10 minuten nadat we hadden besteld. Dit kan geen goed teken zijn. Het leek op een opgewarmde hap overgebleven restjes van voorgangers. Liefdeloos op een bord gemikt. Geen aparte schotel met bord zodat je zelf kunt kiezen waarmee je begint. Een spies teruggestuurd omdat die gewoon nog koud was van de koeling. Geen haar op mijn hoofd die eraan denkt ooit familie, vrienden of kennissen hiermee naartoe te nemen laat staan dat ik collega’s adviseer om hier te gaan eten. De plaatselijke kebabzaak zal je gerecht warmer en verser serveren. Grote teleurstelling. Locatie is leuk en dat is hun kracht.

Food was bad, Girosschotel was dry and cold. My wife had a sea bass but it looked like nothing, and was completely fried. In any case, we will never go back.

It's a fairly large restaurant, the annex is a bit quieter, we ate very tasty Greek food, classic moussaka and bifteki, we had barely sat at the table and already had an ouzo on the table, the service was very attentive and the food was delicious, in the summer you can also sit outside, gladly again.

Looked nice. Friendly service young man. Took a bifteki. When asked if I liked it, an older gentleman indicated that I found the bifteki dry. The answer I received was that that is always the case when it is grilled. I have eaten this many times before and know that it is certainly not necessary. Sorry about the answer. This is a one-off for us.

We have been to the old location years ago. It was nice to be back in the new restaurant. Very tasty food (also vegetarian), nice atmosphere and a delicious glass of ouza beforehand. Unfortunately we are not from the area (Amsterdam area), but we would DEFINITELY like to come back again. Thank you for the Limburg/Greek hospitality.

No taste, too hard, weak, ... ordered here because of the high number of stars, but what a disappointment this was. Not at all comparable to real Greek cuisine. And their prices are quite high too!

I had high expectations for this Greek restaurant, but unfortunately I was disappointed. The food was an absolute disaster - everything tasted bland, the ingredients didn't seem fresh, and the meat was dry and tough. The so-called "homemade" specialties had nothing to do with real Greek cuisine. The gyros were particularly bad, tasting more like cardboard than spicy meat. The side dishes were also prepared carelessly: the fries were soggy, the rice was tasteless, and the tzatziki had hardly any garlic or seasoning. In addition, the food was served lukewarm - an absolute no-go. The service was also disappointing. The staff seemed disinterested, orders were forgotten, and we had to wait forever for drinks. I would have expected a lot more for the prices - but even for half the price the food wouldn't have been good. All in all, this was a failure. Unfortunately I cannot recommend this restaurant at all.
