Beautiful location. Waited a long time before we were served upon entry. Service is not very fast.

We went to explore Amsterdam. Everything was fantastic. Loetje Amsterdam Centraal is a great place to relax with a beautiful view and spacious, clean seating, both indoors and outdoors. The service was excellent; the staff was friendly. Despite being located in a tourist center, the prices for food and drinks were reasonable, not expensive. We will definitely be back.

We waited 20 minutes before someone came to greet us. We left. The guests before us did too!

They sat me at a table.. waiting 20mn nobody came but they have time to take group pictures for people... So hot weather or whatever ia the excuse is not acceptable just tell you client we won't be to serve them or there is a long waiting Overated

We paid over 20 euros each for a small piece of meat with a very spicy sauce, served with two slices of bread (photo). I had to beg to be served because the waitress kept walking past without looking at the tables. The "manager" was good; he stood at the entrance and monitored the tables, as were the other employees, but the waitress, with long and poorly manicured nails, looked unhygienic and terrible. Even the payment took so long that we had to pay someone else. I'll never go back.

The food was very good and well-prepared, with great flavor and presentation. However, the service was disappointing. The staff did not seem very friendly or welcoming, which affected the overall dining experience. While I enjoyed the meal, I hope the customer service improves in the future

The steak was dark red even though medium was requested, and a minuscule piece of meat. No one asks if everything is to our liking. Saw a waitress twice in 3 hours. You practically only get the bill as you walk away.

Is a great located coffee restaurant where you can choose many various drinks. Even though we only took snacks and started cocktails, they have some choices for everyone. The atmosphere is international, you can hear many different languages here. Stuff is super professional and English friendly. Recommend to stop by at your trip.

This morning (Thursday, June 18), we wanted to take a seat on the terrace at Loetje Centraal Amsterdam. Unfortunately, the "manager" on the terrace was very rude and unpleasant in his dealings with his guests. Due to the unfriendly treatment, we did not feel welcome and decided to go somewhere else. It is a shame, because a welcoming reception is at least as important as the food. Unfortunately, not a pleasant experience. We visit Loetje regularly at various locations; this was our first negative experience.

We have been to Loetje several times at other locations in the country, and the quality remains very good.

There were two of us, and we both ordered steaks. The food was excellent. Unfortunately, I still have to leave a negative review because of the waiter. It was a very hot sunny day, and at first we couldn't get a table under an umbrella. While we were waiting for our food, another couple left a shaded table, so we moved there. A few minutes later, our waiter came over and started telling me off in front of the whole restaurant because I hadn't asked the manager before changing tables. What made it worse was that he was speaking much louder than usual, as if he wanted everyone around us to hear. People started looking at us, and the whole situation was embarrassing. I then went to the manager myself, and the table change was approved immediately without any questions. In my opinion, the waiter should have handled this with the manager himself. If there had actually been a problem, he could have come to us calmly and explained it. Instead, he seemed to develop a bit of a gatekeeper syndrome. To make things even worse, at the end of the meal he still asked me for a tip, explaining that the Netherlands is not America and that tips are not included here. I'm not American, so that comment felt quite strange. He seemed genuinely surprised when I refused to leave a tip after the service we had received. I read some of the previous negative reviews and noticed that many of them are about the staff. It's disappointing to see that nothing seems to have changed.

We wanted to eat at Loetje. But if you have an allergy! And then want to eat VEGETARIAN! That's not possible. Because it's not vegetarian. Just about everything goes into the deep-fry oil. Whether it's meat, fish, or vegetarian. This isn't allowed!!! But it does happen. You're just being ripped off.

We visited the store with a group of four people for lunch. The location is excellent and the store is quite well-kept and clean. The staff is very polite and with a lot of humor makes you feel very comfortable and we were served immediately. The food is quite tasty, not something impressive but we enjoyed it. It definitely can be improved but I recommend it.

If you want to eat a good steak in Amsterdam, you know where to go – a place by the canal with a canal view; reservations are required.

The steak here is the best! It is a place I always go to eat whenever I visit Amsterdam. The price isn't high considering the quality, so you can enjoy a meal at a reasonable price! It is located right in front of Central Station, so it is easy to access, and it seems you can eat on the outdoor terrace when the weather is nice. The fries are good too, and it is always bustling with locals.

Superbly located restaurant opposite the train station with a waterfront terrace. The service is attentive and the meat is incredibly tender, flavorful, and perfectly roasted. The atmosphere is a bit noisy.

The food was good, but for service you're better off at McDonald's! Unfriendly staff, bordering on boorish even! They won't see us here again!

Great meal! Party of three enjoyed dinner based on tour guide recommendation. We are staying at the Park Plaza Victoria and wanted restaurant options. We were given five to choose from and based on the menu and reviews, we selected Loetje. So glad we did! We ordered two small beef tenderloins and one small beef tenderloin with garlic. Each of us ordered sautéed mushrooms and shared an order of french fries. The food was delicious. The service was a little slow but that was because the place was packed on a Tuesday evening. Overall we enjoyed our meal and learned the importance of simply enjoying the experience without being rushed! I highly recommend the beef tenderloin with garlic and sautéed mushrooms. Truly a great meal and would enjoy again! Also, we did make same day reservations and felt confident about our decision to do so. You never know the crowd

First of all, that bald gentleman was so disrespectful and rude. We complimented the food, the gentleman said yes, but when paying, he scattered the money on the table and walked away immediately. Worst service ever, never come here.

As its close to the Hotel that visit, the restaurant has great value for money.

The steaks here were very good with a great gravy that complimented the meat. We also had a good steak tartare and mushroom risotto. Was a Tuesday night so the place was not crowded and is nice sitting on the canal. My wife's favorite steak on our European trip. One of our servers was a bit disinterested but overall the service was good, but lost a star.

A well-located establishment with a limited menu, but above all, the customers are treated extremely poorly! Avoid at all costs!

Very poor service. I wanted to have a nice lunch with my son at your place on Saturday afternoon, May 23rd, but the waitress made us sit there for 20 minutes after we ordered a drink without even coming over to us, while she did walk past and serve other people. I paid for 2 drinks and then we went to Loetje De Pijp. Excellent service. Our favorite Loetje is on the IJ, where we eat regularly. The staff at the entrance was very unfriendly. The girl at the door was arrogant and unwelcoming — it honestly made us not want to even enter the restaurant.

For two days in a row, they refused to let us sit outside even though half the tables were available. They don't want customers; go have a drink in the bars downtown, they're much more welcoming.

Good food, however where we were sitting outside it smelled like urine, not pleasant when you are trying to eat food….

I ordered a ginger tea since I don’t drink alcohol. Before I finish my meal, I asked whether I can add more hot water to my tea. The waitress said it was not possible, so it turned out that I need to order another ginger tea if even I just need some more hot water which I did. But it just does not feel they treat their customers right

The service here is truly terrible; you get completely ignored and the staff don't walk around enough. When you do see them walk by, they don't make eye contact, so it takes a long time before you can order anything. It was the same story with paying; I had to ask twice and wait a very long time before I could finally pay, truly scandalous. And it wasn't even busy; you'd better avoid this location, really very bad.

Good atmosphere and great location

Great location, lots of tourists but that doesn't necessarily mean poor quality. The view is great, and the drinks are good too. Service is friendly and fast. The cocktails are pre-mixed and nothing special, which is a minor downside. The food was fine, the meat good and the gravy too. The risotto was a bit on the dry side. All in all, 4 stars for value for money.

What you expect from a Loetje. Busy, good food, and friendly service!

Service was average; I had to ask someone for a menu or to place an order several times. When clearing the table, they also didn't ask if we wanted to see the dessert menu or order another drink. The fact that a large trolley with trash/dirty dishes was regularly rolled through the restaurant didn't contribute to the atmosphere either, and the tables are very close together. The food itself was so-so; the fries were already past the temperature and the meat was not cooked to my liking. The gravy lacked some flavor.

This popular restaurant is located right in front of Central Station. The steak and croquettes were delicious, and the staff provided excellent service, making for a very satisfying dinner during my trip.

Has become a tourist trap. Last time i ate here, a tip was demanded. Like this is the US or something. Food is OK.

Service was very long (over 30 min to get first drinks) and restaurant was far from full. Main plates were good, but please serve real bread, not slices toast! There are so many bakeries round.

Waiter was super unfriendly when we asked him kindly to clean the table from the guests before us. He rudely asked us to choose another table after we already sat down and never cleaned it. Food was average

I had biefstuk ossenhaas bali and sticky toffee, both were excellent. I loved the sauce on the biefstuk bali, it was a very delicious garlic sauce, and the sticky toffee was an amazing dessert, I tried it for the first time. I was lucky to find a table overlooking the canal, I definitely recommend it.

I highly recommend eating here. We've been there several times and all the food has been delicious. My wife and I had the steaks, among other things, which were simply superb. The Marriott beer is also very good.

We stopped by on the off chance early evening, there was a queue but it was well worth the wait which didn't take long, you can sit in or out, all tables for outside had been taken, inside is fine, had the chicken / bacon salad plus fries, can honestly say this was the best meal we had while in Amsterdam for a few days, service was excellent, prices very reasonable. The location is great, the service is not rude but indifferent. If there’s a time limit make a better vhoice to eat/drink because you may not be asked for your order for approx. 20 minutes even though there’s enough available staff.

We ate here when we got off our train. We had a sandwich and a bier... it was a substantial sandwich and came with salad and crisps. Very tasty. A good introduction to Amsterdam!

I’ve always had good experiences at other Loetje locations, but unfortunately this branch falls far below that standard. The quality of service and the attitude of the staff here are noticeably worse compared to other Loetje restaurants. During my visit, my table was cleared while I briefly stepped away (to the restroom / outside), even though I still had food left. Some of my belongings were also removed in the process, which is completely unacceptable. It feels like the staff assume most customers are tourists and won’t return, which leads to a careless and sometimes rude approach to service. I hope Loetje takes this feedback seriously and improves the service quality at this location, because it does not reflect the overall brand experience.

We had a really pleasant experience overall. Even without a reservation, we were seated almost immediately, which was a great start to our evening. Our table was right by the canal, and the views were beautiful. The concept of dipping the bread into the garlic sauce was a really nice touch, and probably my favorite thing about the meal. The sauce was flavorful and added something special to the experience. The only downside was the food itself was just decent. My steak, in particular came out overcooked, which was a bit disappointing. That said, everything from the atmosphere to the service made the visit enjoyable.

I had steak in garlic gravy. What a treat!! The steak was perfectly done. The side were shared as the portions sizes are generous. The service was excellent. I will definitely return 10/10

The worst place I’ve ever been. The service is terrible, the food is even worse. I ordered steak and it was ugly and not tasty, snacks also. Too much expensive for a such a place. Rats are running under the tables. Don’t recommend this place

I'm leaving a review because I'm speechless. We came here for our honeymoon and because of the good reviews, but this is the worst. At first, when they showed us to our seats, the candles weren't lit, so I didn't know what to do, so I said "excuse me sir" about five times, even shouting it really loudly. But they ignored me and walked away. My husband ended up getting it from an empty table and replacing it. I figured they must have been too busy and couldn't hear me. A male employee with dreadlocks was telling us our order, and I couldn't tell if he was working or what, but he kept looking at his phone, which was annoying. I tried to complain to a passing employee, but he said he'd call someone, but no one came. A dreadlocked employee came to take the order for a foreign family at the next table, so I shouted "excuse me sir" about three times to talk to him. I spoke so loudly that the other foreign families looked at me. But he ignored me and walked away, so I tried to speak to the blonde employee at the register, but his expression was unpleasant. When I asked how many minutes ago it happened, I said 30 minutes ago. I showed her the translated sentence, and she said, "I don't understand Chinese." I replied, "I'm from South Korea, I'm not good at speaking English." It was ridiculous. I clearly told the blonde employee, "What I want is an apology. Wouldn't it have been unpleasant if you were on the other side?" But she said she didn't understand. Frustrated, I asked a foreign grandmother passing by for help and then told the blonde employee. Even after I told her, I was still stuck standing in the corner of the entrance door, so I was annoyed and came back to my room. I showed both the grandmother and the blonde employee the same translated sentence, but why didn't the employee understand? Was the dreadlocked employee's name Nacho? I don't know the blonde employee's name. I wasn't expecting perfect service, but I think they need to be able to listen to their customers. The blonde employee was even more upset than the dreadlocked employee. I stopped four employees to complain, but no one helped or did anything to address the situation. I thought Amsterdam was a nice place and the people were friendly, but this restaurant completely changed my opinion. ​I am writing this review because I am beyond frustrated. My husband and I visited this restaurant during our honeymoon because of its good reputation, but it turned out to be the worst experience of our trip. ​First, when we were seated, the candle on our table wasn't lit. I said "Excuse me, sir" three times loudly enough that the neighboring family stared at me, yet he ignored me again and walked away. ​The peak of this nightmare was the blonde staff member at the cashier. When I tried to explain the situation, she had a terrible attitude. I showed her a translated message explaining my frustration. Even though the message was clear, she said dismissively, "I don't understand Chinese." I told her, "I am from South Korea, and I'm not good at speaking English," but she continued to be unhelpful. ​I even asked a passing elderly lady (another customer) for help. I showed her the exact same translated text, and she understood it perfectly—so why did the staff member claim not to understand? It felt like a deliberate act of ignoring me or a lack of basic respect. ​All I wanted was a simple apology. I asked the blonde staff member, "Wouldn't you feel the same way if you were in my position?" but she just kept saying she didn't understand. We ended up leaving and going back to our hotel because the experience was so stressful. ​I wasn't expecting perfect service, but basic human respect and the ability to listen to a customer are essential. The blonde staff member's dismissive and discriminatory attitude was even more hurtful than Nacho's. This place completely ruined our special evening.

This side dish is honestly disappointing. A plain, sandwich bread next to a steak feels lazy, cheap, and out of place for a main dish that should be the star of the meal. You can offer instead a freshly baked bread (baguette, sourdough, or rustic rolls). Overall meat was perfectly done and tasty and the atmosphere was very good.

The food was delicious, but it was very noisy and a pity that a gentleman left without paying, and we therefore discovered that the staff had to pay this bill from the tip jar.

Amazing food , all people that worked in there is so kind and attentive about everything!

We had dinner tonight. The starter arrived with the main course, but that might have been because it was ordered a bit later. We received three slices of bread with our three steaks. When we wanted more bread, it wasn't possible because they were out. Well, it's your favorite dish on the menu, and you always have bread in stock. For dessert, it turned out that Loetje's dessert was out of stock. Drinks were impossible to order because the staff seemed oblivious to the customers, probably understaffed. Truly the worst experience I've ever had at Loetje.

Although we didn't have a reservation, we found a table inside. We ate a dish called Loetje Classic. Despite looking very fatty, it was delicious. The staff were very slow to attend to us. Orders arrived quite late. But we left satisfied because of the delicious meat.

Great food but service was terrible. Specific waiters for food and drinks so when you ask for more drinks you’re told to ask someone else. No one comes near you and they aren’t attentive at all. Really lets down what’s is otherwise a lovely restaurant which serves really nice food though it is a little expensive for what you get in my opinion.

We tried the Balinese and garlic sauce. The Balinese was a bit spicy and salty. Both were delicious. Afterward, we tried the apple pie. It was quite good. I wouldn't hesitate to come back. Reservations are necessary just for the canal view. There can be a long line out the door on weekend evenings.

Everything was perfect! Definitely try the tenderloin with garlic. The apple pie is amazing!

Thanks to Diempal, our waitress, for making our evening fantastic. Food and great service are fantastic in this restaurant. Well recommended. Even though there was a queue to get our table, it moved incredibly quick and in no time we were already seated. High five!

The service was not good and the food was almost inedible

My friend in Amsterdam took me here and it was really nice that I could say it's my favorite restaurant during my trip in EU this time. Foods are all good but you need to try the steak for the first time for sure.

Horrible table, completely ignored, didn't eat anything, left immediately. Apparently, we were wearing the wrong clothes.

Delicious food, the meat dish was special

Right across from Amsterdam Central Station, we didn't have a reservation, but we had trouble finding a seat. It would be great if you could make a reservation. The steak with Bali sauce was a bit spicy, but it was legendary.

Today, something truly bizarre happened. The host of this location met me at his counter today and asked if I could have a napkin. Loetje is across from Central Station; it's described as a cafe. I wasn't familiar with this location. The host said they've been there for 20 years. He said this disparagingly, as if I should have known. Well, it didn't start well, but then he added that he finds it very strange that I'm asking them. When I indicated that I expected that if I asked nicely and politely, there might be a chance I could get ONE napkin for my condition to refresh myself, He said, "This isn't a candy store," and then pointed to a corner. By then, I was done with this gentleman's gold. No is also an answer; he genuinely ruined the Loetje brand for me. I enjoyed eating there during my time in the Zuidas, and later with my business as well. On principle I'm not going to do this anymore, a sort of shame session when you ask for a napkin in a popular restaurant.

The steak was delicious. It's just a bit of a shame they no longer have Wijnand Fockink liqueurs on the menu.

Super delicious and cozy. Fast service and reasonably priced. The steak with Loetje jus is highly recommended.

Cappuccino was lukewarm. I commented on it, and of course, the second one was lukewarm again. Apparently, making good coffee is a skill. A guest at our table asked to refill her teacup with hot water. Cash! We just charged for another tea. We canceled our planned lunch at Loetje. And our next visits.

Even after eating here three years ago and returning, the taste remains the same! The steak was so delicious that I felt like the classic size wasn't enough. The bread dipped in the gravy was incredibly flavorful, and the fries were freshly fried in clean oil, so they tasted fresh! Even when I went alone, the service and atmosphere were both excellent.

Gave me a large size dish that I cannot even finish eating without asking me

We came with very high hopes for our second and last night in Amsterdam. We were seated by the window with an amazing view, so the evening started well. However, the overall experience matters a lot to me, and the service really let things down. The staff were clearly overwhelmed by the crowd; there are simply too many tables, the noise level is extreme, service is slow, and a couple of the staff members were not very friendly. Do not get me wrong: the food itself is excellent, which is the only reason this is not a one-star review. The beef was incredible, the sauce was delicious, and the carpaccio was beautifully soft. But I cannot understand why such outstanding meat and sauce are served with plain white toast bread. The dish practically begs for a proper piece of bread to soak up the sauce. Such a missed opportunity and a real disappointment.

The views alone are worth it, but the best part was the sirloin steak with garlic sauce—spectacular! We asked for more bread so we wouldn't leave a crumb. That said, we're used to a different kind of bread in Spain; this was the typical sliced ​​bread, but it was still fine. It's not cheap, but it's very good, and they have a children's meat menu.

When we first arrived at the restaurant, there was what appeared to be a queue. When it was our turn, we explained that there were three of us, and they told us to wait, moving to a sort of waiting area. While we waited, at least ten people, varying in size, entered. After waiting 15-20 minutes, we couldn't make sense of what was happening and reconsidered, but they obligingly let us in. When we entered, we were initially shocked to see only ten empty tables. If there were seats, why were we being made to wait? That question should be put aside. Then, we waited for the waiter to bring us menus. Despite our persistent requests, no waiter paid any attention for 5-10 minutes. Finally, we managed to force a waiter, who had brought menus to the table next to us 10 minutes later, to get them. The waiter's ridiculous and sarcastic tone was truly bizarre. Finally, we waited to order. When no one came to take our orders for another 10 minutes, we lost our patience and left the restaurant. While we can't say for sure because we haven't experienced this before, I suspect this was a form of racism. I believe anyone who comes from Turkey or any other country and doesn't want to be treated similarly should definitely not come here.

Very tasty. You don't have to wait long. The only thing is, the waiter was very rude when I wanted to pay in advance. Otherwise, it was fine. The Loetje at Amsterdam station was very nice.

Very happy with the place. One of the best places adapted for people with reduced mobility, which is much appreciated! They were very attentive and made sure everything was alright. They even seated us at a table near the window. The only downside was that there was a noisy table next to us, but I understand that wasn't their fault. Everything else was perfect. The food was delicious, the waiter spoke excellent Spanish and made sure we understood everything. He even told us his name so we could ask him for help if we had any problems. It's a pleasure to be treated this well; I wish we could always receive such good service and food.
