Only the space was nice, the food was mediocre and reheated, the staff was lacking in service.

The staff radiates a reluctance to work. It makes me feel uncomfortable. Very rude and unfriendly. It's a real shame you're not responding to these many similar reviews with the same message over and over again. With such a beautiful location and interior, you're really doing yourself a disservice this way...

We got seated and had to wait around 10 minutes until we could even get a menu. Then we had to wait another 25 minutes to order the drinks, and another 20 minutes for them to arrive. Overall the drinks were pretty nice apart from the fact that the waiting time took extremely long. Also when we went to check-out the lady there looked very unwelcoming and impatient. The floor and seats were also not the cleanest.

The coffee was a little too bitter, but everything else was perfect.

I would give zero stars if that were possible, as this experience is not even worth one. For customers, the most important thing in a restaurant is how they are treated by the staff. Unfortunately, today we had the worst experience. One female employee was extremely disrespectful and rude. I was shocked that someone with this attitude is allowed to work in a restaurant like this. We were regular customers, but this was our last visit. It is very important for the Mado management team to monitor how employees treat customers, because having such behavior reflects very badly on the entire restaurant. When I asked her to treat customers more respectfully, she did not apologize and instead responded in a very rude manner. It is truly disappointing and damaging to your brand.

What a mess. My partner ordered fried eggs, and I ordered a Turkish pizza. The eggs were served, but not the pizza. My partner started eating because otherwise the eggs would get cold. After ten minutes, I approached a staff member. Unfortunately, he didn't speak Dutch. A colleague of his joined me, who spoke a few words of Dutch. This gentleman went to ask where the pizza was. I was told it would take at least another six minutes. I told them they could keep the pizza, and we left. Terrible service. They won't be seeing us again.

We had to wait a very long time for our food, asking several times, and it took an hour. Then a man came with a meal, but we had ordered two, so we had to wait another 10 minutes for the second. Very poor service.

We waited an hour for our food and didn't get anything. We asked the waitress why it was taking so long and then got the answer: I can't do anything about it. The order was cancelled, but we didn't get the food because we were charged. They didn't believe us that we hadn't received the food and had to pay for it.

Everything was fine, and the staff were all friendly. It deserves 5 stars.

Not recommended. Waited ages for anyone to come, and then received incredibly grumpy service. Ordered food, got the wrong drinks, and the food didn't arrive at all. Left and had a delicious meal at Comptoir Libanais.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A Delightful Turkish Treat in Hoog Catharijne I recently stopped by Mado and had a lovely experience. It is a great spot if you are looking for nice food, coffee, or sweet treats. The highlights were definitely the Turkish Coffee, which was rich and authentic, and the Gözleme—it was absolutely delicious! The service was also good and very welcoming. I highly recommend visiting if you are shopping in the mall and need a tasty break.

The prices are exorbitant compared to other places, and the quality is subpar. There's no reason for me to go back.

Super nice restaurant! We came with a one-year-old, and she loved the pancakes and fruit. The service was also very fast!

The food was quite good. We tried steak and beef dish they were tasting good and cooked well. Only my dish was a bit oily. And for dessert we had cold baklava but it was a disappointment. It was absolutely not fresh and syrup was too much. Cold baklava suppose to have a lighter feeling than the traditional one but this one was too sweet. Waitress were kind and nice and atmosphere is also nice if you don’t mind crowd and some background music.

Extremely poor service. The staff were rude, and I received dishes different from what was on the menu. I wouldn't recommend anyone to eat there. The delivery was slow and the food was very sparse. I also found it really annoying that some staff members talk behind your back and laugh at you. If this happens again, I will file an official complaint, because this is simply unacceptable.

(a) Hygiene: the floor was very dirty. There was pieces of food on the chair. If this is the visible part, imagine the kitchen. (b) Quality: the cakes were at best average (c) Price: no price was for cakes, for only two average pieces of cake we paid around 18 euro??!!! . I am wondering if they drop a number just by looking at the customers. I barely rate this negatively, yet it is only fair for others who are clean, fair, transparent and deliver quality products.

Terrible service, they should definitely fire them. I got my food just as it was finished, and then the other person finally got their food. I said, "This is unacceptable." It was soup too.

Unfriendly staff and unfresh baklava

What started well ended in complete disappointment. It all started with slow service and impatient waitstaff. After complaining that the meat wasn't good (a strange smell, like spoiled meat), they suddenly stopped speaking Dutch. Then they didn't take you seriously and told you it was our fault. It was the first time, and it will also be the last. If you value your health, avoid this location.

A very bad restaurant I do not recommend it at all !! We order different food but it wasn’t even warm ! And as you see in the picture the salmon that we order it was literally raw from the inside and cold ! And when we told the worker there he didn’t even try to apologise! He just used an excuse instead of saying sorry ! Very bad service too, the women in the cashier talked with us with very rude attitude!

Avoid this place - it was a terrible experience. The food was mediocre, and the staff didn’t speak English or Dutch, which led to constant confusion with the orders. The waiters didn’t bring plates or cutlery, and overall the service was completely disorganized. The final straw was waiting for a soup for half an hour only to be told they didn’t have it - and then they still tried to charge us for it. Absolutely unacceptable. Don’t waste your time; just walk past this place.

It is a restaurant in a shopping mall, nothing special. But we paid for 6 very small chicken nuggets 13€, further we had a Pide with cheese for 14€! The taste is far away from original Turkish and worst then Turkish food from kiosk.

Incredibly disappointing and not recommended! We eat out often, and I've never experienced anything like this. From the service to the food, it was a complete letdown. We ordered five dishes. The first one arrived fairly quickly, but each subsequent dish took 10-15 minutes longer. It was impossible to eat together (in our case, with children). A burger with fries cost €15, which was acceptable. We received six small chicken nuggets for €13! The menu suggests at least twice that amount. Similarly, the köfte (three small pieces) for €11 would have been outrageous. The menu gives a much better impression of the actual food. Everything that arrived was cold and of lower quality than what you'd get at a fast-food joint.

The food was terrible and tasteless. The service was also terrible. No one asked what we wanted to order. After waving a few times, someone finally came to our table. We ordered minced pide and mixed grill. After 25 minutes, the pide arrived, but it wasn't warm at all. We were really hungry and didn't want to complain about waiting so long again. Ten minutes later, the mixed grill arrived. The chicken breast was raw inside. We pointed this out to the so-called manager, but he didn't apologize. He took the plate, put the chicken back on the grill, and gave us the same plate. Now we've tried the cutlet, and yes, it was also raw. In short, we will never return to this restaurant. TIP FOR YOU TOO: AVOID THIS RESTAURANT.

The employees don't care about the customers at all. We waited 15-20 minutes just for the menu. I couldn't eat the food I ordered because it had mushrooms in it. I asked for it to be taken out for my family to eat at home. But they just threw the takeout container and bag in front of us and walked away.😡😡

What an absolute scam. Inflated prices on one end, it's literally a scam. Fire whoever is running this place including your so-called "cooks" who would've have courage to serve a plate like this. I've ordered "cokertme kebabi" which is normally served with very thinly stripped fried patato, somewhat runny yoghurt and tomato sauce along with meat(balls). They served it with actual full-size Lidl-bought ready-to-fry fries, actual store bought chopped sandwich bread and driest meatballs I've ever tasted. Only for 20 something euros a plate. The meal you've served was not "opps, we ran out of tomato's, let's try to put tomato sauce and apologise from the customer", it was more like "they already ordered it and need to pay for it no matter what we serve. Who gives a shit.".

They have really delicious food and drinks. The service is excellent, and the staff is extremely friendly and attentive. I highly recommend going!

Everything was terrible. The food was very poor for the price, and I had an argument with one of the employees (Umut, I suspect, with tattoos on his arms and a fake nose). From the moment we walked in, he started being very rude, then grinned like he was laughing at us while we were ordering. I then asked to speak to the manager about it, and they said the manager wasn't there. Ultimately, I ignored him. Finally, at the table next to us (three women), he started being very smart, telling the women to "wait and stop complaining," and sighing as he did so. Then he started yelling at the women to get lost and eat somewhere else. The three women got up to leave, and one of them confronted another colleague about what was happening. The colleague, of course, started making excuses for the boy, while the boy next to him started laughing smugly. Very childish. The ladies became angry and told him to behave, after which he started cursing them in Turkish ("Aminakodum, zat hep turkler"). His colleague then started pulling him away because he just kept cursing in Turkish. Because of this behavior, I found it unacceptable, so I paid for my food and immediately left. Nothing further was done, not even an apology or an apology. I don't understand how this behavior is tolerated in a restaurant; it shouldn't be tolerated. An unprofessional, childish, and smart-alecky little boy shouldn't be working here if he can't handle it himself. I will never return to this restaurant.

I always give restaurants a fair chance; we were a bit hesitant after reading the reviews, but oh well. "I ordered homemade lemonade, a starter, and a main course. I found the homemade lemonade suspiciously bright in color; I don't think it's homemade... I ordered pasta and pide. The starter arrived at the same time as the main course. Unfortunately, the pasta was tasteless, the chicken was good, and the pide was good, though a bit greasy and spicy, which wasn't on the menu. In between, we ate the starter, a shared plate. When I discovered the last chicken was completely raw, which really shocked me. I left everything left over and paid. We didn't have to pay for the starter, which was nice. Otherwise, the friendliness and politeness were nowhere to be found.

Order is brought, but otherwise no service. Bill not provided, etc. Fine for a quick cup of coffee, but not a place to sit down for a long time.

It was really a pity we decided to have our lunch here. Not only was the waiter rude but we felt very unwelcomed. We had issues with our order which was an honest mistake and they refused to fix it, double charged us and refused to remove the wrong dish. When we asked for our food to be packed take away, they simply gave us the boxes to fill ourselves and it wasn’t even hectic or full. I’ve a huge following on my socials. But instead of posting there, I’ll post here in hopes the owner sees this and talks to the staff. Thanks.

We visited this restaurant and were really disappointed. The welcome was terrible — no smile, no communication, and the service was poor. The staff looked irritated and in a hurry for us to leave, which made the experience unpleasant. The smoothie we ordered was literally just water, with no flavor or texture at all — a complete rip-off. On top of that, the bill was quite high for what we got. Honestly, avoid this place at all costs. Rude staff, bad service, and absolutely no sense of hospitality. 👎

Watery milkshake bad service chased

Really disappointed with this Mado restaurant. The service was unfriendly, and the cashier looked sad and unmotivated, which made the whole atmosphere quite uncomfortable. The prices are way too high for what you get. I ordered a milkshake and it was watery, with no taste or texture. Honestly, nothing justifies these prices — there are plenty of better places in Utrecht for a proper meal or drink.

The most important thing on the menu is no kazandibi! No breakfast! Because apparently they don't have the right chefs to make kazandibi! When we told them that they could train their chefs, we realized there was no such perception. Quality and service were clearly not the goal. We've come a long way, but it was a disappointment. You need a magnifying glass to find an egg in menemen! The prices are unnecessarily expensive. There aren't even any toilets. You have to pay 1 euro for one.

Poor quality food, service and antisocial people

Ordered desserts and coffee. They forgot to write down one of the orders, but after reminding them, they brought it. The staff is pleasant to communicate with. The desserts were delicious.

The milkshakes are undrinkable. Super watery. The service leaves a lot to be desired; they bring you things without a tray. We kept seeing the ice cream on the counter, and when someone finally remembered to bring it, they had to find a spoon. Then it turned out to be the wrong ice cream. They didn't want to make a fuss, so we said, "No worries, we'll eat this one." Still, the waiter came after to insist they'd brought the right one (which they really hadn't). All in all, the worst €20 you can spend.

We had a wonderful meal at this restaurant, but they could create a bit more ambiance by adding tea lights to the table. And they offer something on the house, like an ouzo or a glass of tea. It's also a shame there's no restroom for guests to use.

Visiting Mado alone in Turkey, in the Netherlands, is a real nightmare. I received a gozleme with nothing in it, and I ordered one with cheese. I returned the gozleme with this information, and they tried to convince me it was in there, as if I were stupid. I ended up sending it back because I hadn't ordered it, and an irritated Barbie doll came and complained as if I'd cursed her entire family while stating facts. The menu says there's a type of cheese in the gozleme, and I mentioned this. Plus, I've had this before, but with feta cheese, and then they say it has feta cheese in it, so they're just talking nonsense and don't even know what's in it, so it's not freshly prepared (?). I heard the woman in question yelling about me in the kitchen long before our conversation, and I heard her complain even after our conversation. If I was a whiner, fine, but my gozleme was empty, so I don't know what she expected me to do. Never again.

Food was below average. Hospitality was just barely okay.

Rude staff. Apparently, you're supposed to get a generous dollop of chocolatey goo on an iced coffee, but I find it delicious. The iced coffee is just chocolate milk with a scoop of ice cream. The waiter was the best, and he went on a rampage because, well, why didn't I like that? Now you pay 7 euros for half a cup of whipped cream and cold chocolate milk without coffee (iced coffee), and 7 euros for a green liquid, which was homemade mint lemonade. It was absolutely undrinkable. 15 euros for an ice cream sundae with two crumbled baklavas and vanilla ice cream!

The food here is quite pricey for the quality. The desserts are tasty, but not really worth the price. The service was good this time, though.

We arrived late in the morning and wanted a hot meal. We could have ordered a regular hot meal, but unfortunately, we were served ice cold. Everyone's fries were cold, and everyone's meat was cold. So we paid for our drinks and didn't send the food back, but we went somewhere else where the food was hot.

My sister-in-law and I both paid without telling the other. We told them and they said I'd be refunded within a couple of days. A week later and I'm still waiting.

I order a Pasta arrabiata, I found a hair, the manager was very rude and no one cared. Would definitely not recommend, because it is very overpriced, for very little food and especially for bad service.

What a terrible place this is! I went there with the intention of getting a nice Turkish breakfast with my girlfriend. The staff saw us sitting there and didn't even pay attention. Ever had to ask for the menu yourself? If not, go to Mado and you'll experience this. The staff couldn't communicate in Dutch. Our bucket was full, so we got up. What a terrible place!
