A lovely restaurant with a pleasant atmosphere. The food was delicious, the portions weren't huge, but the main courses were good. We weren't as impressed with the desserts. The service was good and friendly. All in all, a great experience and definitely worth it.

Super friendly! We happened upon this place and needed a bottle of warm water for our little one. The young man behind the bar arranged it for us and we didn't have to pay anything. Super friendly 💪🏼

We had a wonderful dinner here on Christmas Eve while visiting Amsterdam. As Italians, we truly appreciate good food and warm hospitality, and this restaurant exceeded our expectations. The location is beautiful and curated in every detail, with a lovely atmosphere and a super welcoming vibe. The staff is extremely kind and attentive. A special mention goes to the owner, who was simply wonderful: welcoming, passionate and genuinely caring about our experience. The food was excellent, full of flavor and perfectly prepared. A special place for a memorable evening highly recommended!

Mayur definitely offers quality: the flavors are refined, and you can tell they're cooked with care. The curries are rich and beautifully balanced, and the presentation is impeccable. However, I found the prices extremely high, and in my opinion, they're not entirely commensurate with what you get. The food was delicious, but the price-quality ratio isn't quite right for me.

A wonderful, warm experience. The samosas were crispy, well-filled, and deliciously spicy. The curry had just the right amount of heat while remaining elegant and flavorful. The tandoori was tender, juicy, and full of aromas, clearly prepared to a high standard. The service remained friendly and attentive, providing excellent explanations. A cozy, comfortable atmosphere without being crowded. The price, however, is on the high side.

The best authentic Indian food in Amsterdam, from the start we open the front door the cleanest place with beautiful smell, we met the host and he is so kind, all staff is amazing, friendly helpful, the food is sooo heavenly. The bathroom is so hygienic and clean. Thank you guys for the best experience🤍🤍🤍

Relaxed atmosphere in the city center with almost excellent dishes

We loved the cozy and welcoming atmosphere of this restaurant/brunch spot, as well as the quality of the service. We were slightly disappointed with our dishes, especially considering the rather high price.

Restaurant located near the corner of the road intersection. The interior is beautifully decorated. They have a waiting table so you do not have to stand around while they get you settled in. A good couple of food options available, and it taste great. Good spot to dine with some family, or friends.

Overall, the experience was pleasant, though I did have to wait a while for my thali main course.

The butter chicken was incredibly tender and full of spicy flavor. The naan bread was served fresh from the tandoor, wonderfully fluffy. I did expect the service to be a bit faster, but the flavors more than made up for it. Definitely recommended for lovers of authentic Indian cuisine!

Upon entering, the restaurant made a good impression: the welcome was friendly, the service professional, and the decor atmospheric – exactly what you'd expect from a fine dining concept. Unfortunately, the positive experience largely ended there. The first thing I noticed was that the heating was very high, making it feel stuffy inside. Not pleasant when you're trying to enjoy a leisurely dinner. And then the most important thing: the food. That was downright disappointing. None of the dishes stood out in terms of taste or presentation. The quality was comparable to that of an average Indian restaurant on any street corner, and that's simply not good enough for the prices charged here. Some dishes were even bland or downright unpleasant. The quality of the ingredients was also disappointing. The average diner might not immediately notice it, but the foodie will immediately notice the difference. To make matters worse, I had an upset stomach the next day and had to visit the restroom several times – not exactly the kind of aftermath you want after a meal. All in all, this was a disappointing experience for me. The ambiance promises more than the kitchen delivers. Perhaps enjoyable for a one-time visit, but definitely not worth repeating – and certainly not at this price. Conclusion: a place with potential, with plenty of room for improvement in the kitchen. Three stars.

The only aspect I enjoy about this place is its bustling atmosphere. However, the mandatory minimum order requirement is quite bothersome to me. The service is lacking, but the food is good.

The staff were welcoming, but orders were delayed. The food, thank God (the chicken smelled like *sigh*). The rice looked like it had been reheated. I do not recommend it and I will not visit again. You will find much better alternatives.

We came from Rotterdam specifically for the delicious food at Mayur in Amsterdam. All the dishes we regularly eat here are delicious. Many restaurants have different dishes that taste the same, but not at Mayur. Top quality and top flavor. And even as Rotterdammers, we can enter without a passport :) Haha. We've been going there for years now, and the taste and quality remain consistent. Tip: go there and you'll have the same experience.

We had a wonderful experience at this Indian restaurant. The food was absolutely amazing, full of authentic flavors. Our waiter, Manu, gave us excellent service and made the experience even better. Highly recommend this place for anyone who enjoys great Indian cuisine.

The naan is soft as a sigh, the lamb curry fierce as truth. In the tandoor’s glow, history feels reversed—here, the flavors have reclaimed their power, and the East India Company would be wise to take notes.

An Indian restaurant in Amsterdam. Variety of food and many options. We tried the chicken, tandoori fish with white rice, naan bread, lentil soup, and green salad. The food was good, spicy, and generously portioned. The service was quick. The owners were very nice, especially the lady. She welcomed us and wished us a pleasant stay in Amsterdam.

Had a fantastic evening with the family, and we were warmly welcomed by the door. We chose the fine dining area and the food tasted amazing. Service was friendly and made sure our allergies were noted as one of my family member had certain allergies and recommended amazing dishes. Loved it and we will be back soon!

Never again! What a bizarre experience. Upon entering, we were immediately told that the left side is cheaper, but for the "romantic" right side, you have to order a starter and dessert per person. Absurd and completely unwelcoming! The food was subpar for the price! The prices were ridiculously high, and the service was distant and pushy. We felt more harassed than welcome. Absolutely not recommended – a waste of your evening and your money.

My absolute favorite restaurant—not my first time at Mayur, and definitely not my last. My husband and I love coming here, and yesterday we brought some friends! The owner/host now knows what we're eating better than we do. The atmosphere in this restaurant is always pleasant and intimate; it feels like a wonderfully relaxing bath where you can just sink into it and enjoy delicious food. Even with a busy Pride party coming up, it was pleasantly quiet here! If you want delicious food and enjoy the excellent service provided by the staff, absolutely go to Mayur! You'll be treated like royalty.

Last night I was able to take shelter at Pride and took advantage of the situation by ordering a curry. And in a word: fantastic!!! I've eaten many curries in Amsterdam, and this one stands out. Top notch!

Raming cats and dogs and my pregnant friend was hiding under their terrace roof. Instead of offering her a restroom, they contracted the terrace so we were standing in the pouring rain. Absolutely disgusting.

Nice atmosphere and that’s it. Food is average to slightly above average. Service is below average. When we were there, waiter was rude and took out starter plates when my younger son was still eating pappadams. When I asked he said, main course or ready and he needs to serve it!!!! Then came all dishes at once and drinks were pushed to the edge of the table even for kids. When asked, response was we had said bring whatever food is ready. This just continued. Provide proper service and make food more authentic as food is mostly bland and Indian food is not bland.

Please don’t go here, As American living in New York City for 20+ years and person who loves food. This was beyond money grabbing restaurant. Tell why is roti almost €7 ? When in New York is $1.50 ? And naan is $2.00 ? Chicken dish €36 really wow 🤯, i can get 3 dishes for that price. Please go somewhere else it’s not I don’t have money but this very bad pricing seriously save your money: I been all over United States and euro I never seen such prices. Maybe the owner will see this lower the prices and not be to greedy “.

Indian food is always a treat. Especially if the people in the kitchen know and love what they are doing. We ordered several dishes and genuinely enjoyed everything. The Murgh Malai Kebab was incredible. Never has flavor been incorporated into a more tender piece of chicken. We sat outside and enjoyed the nice weather but the atmosphere inside is perfect for a typical cool wet night in Amsterdam.

I love Mayur! I was there yesterday and enjoyed a fantastic Indian meal. We sat in the fine dining section. The food was great, the service was top class and they even had a good red wine menu, which is rare for most Indian places. This restaurant cannot be recommended enough!

Visited last week randomly - by searching Indian restaurants near me. The experience was probably the best I’ve had in Europe.

I can't say anything else than top!! Staff is super friendly, service always really top!! The atmosphere and the ambiance! Been coming here for years and still with great pleasure. The food is really delicious. I really recommend everyone who wants to eat delicious Indian food in Amsterdam to visit. It's really worth it!

Day 6 of my trip and by now craving my Indian food, first place we went to said it opened at 5pm but when we got there they were still closed, a 5min walk in a straight line and we ended up at Mayur, it’s a fine/casual dining restaurant so make sure you know that with regards pricing, however the staff were amazing the food was superb and you know what, how can you put a price on good food and what your stomach craves?? A defo recommend if you want quality halal food!! Thank you to the Mayur Team for a great experience.

Went in without a reservation on Saturday evening, which is quite special. I thought the place would be packed. Friendly staff and a cozy atmosphere. For 150 euros we got three drinks, two very small starters and two curries that reminded us of chicken tonight. There's no way that this is a tourist trap. It's nice that others give five stars here, but the prices are really excessive and can even be called a bit ridiculous. We are also very familiar with curries (India/Sri Lanka) and these two come somewhere at the bottom of the ranking. Update: the 'professional' response from the owner below says it all :-)

Came here a few weeks ago on a trip to Amsterdam with my mom. I am a huge foodie and have tried dozens of indian restaurants across europe and this one takes the cake. The staff is extremely attentive, the food is very flavorful (not just spicy but truly tasty, with a variety of flavour combinations), and the ambiance is peaceful but beautiful crafted. We both took the tasting menu and cannot recommend it enough. The value for money is phenomenal, the range of options is amazing and the deserts are comforting but not overly sweet. I cannot wait to come back to amsterdam just to check this place out again!!

Customer service was good. Food was mediocre for the price! Butter chicken was terrible - the worst I've ever tasted. Lamb curry was good but too much garam masala. Garlic naan was drenched in garlic. Even after brushing my teeth later on, it didn't shift the strong garlic taste from the back of my mouth. My biggest criticism is that they verbally tell you that it's Halal but there is no sign/sticker on the window/door or even on the menu so I did feel uncertain if this establishment genuienly was halal. Overpriced for the small portion sizes and would therefore not recommend unless you want to be ripped off!

My wife enjoyed her cocktail and the wine was poured regularly from the staff. I was disappointed with the Chicken Chat, it came in a tiny soup bowl and was literally chopped up chicken. The bowl needed to sit on a plate. Nice quantity and quality of Biryani and was presented well. The naan bread was very nice. I would definitely go back, I'm not sure how they would cope on a busy night as it is a big restaurant and there were only a few tables that night. All of the food tasted authentic.

I've eaten at better Indian restaurants for much less money. I will never go back or recommend that restaurant. However, the place is comfortable and the service is also good.

Interesting place, chique Indian food, quite expensive so be prepared to pay but yet I must say it was in a way worth the experience. Simply put very different experience from your everyday Indian restaurant. They know how to make a good Moscow mule :)

Beautiful restaurant, nicely decorated with simple but sophisticated vibe. The restaurant has its own tandoor oven (big plus) which makes excellent grilled meat and fresh naan bread, which is enough for me to come back. Unfortunately the curries don't deserve their price tag, a bit on average side.

My dinner yesterday at the Indian restaurant in Amsterdam was absolutely amazing! As an Italian, I really appreciated seeing so many international and Indian people in the restaurant, which shows how much their cuisine is appreciated worldwide. I was enchanted from the moment I walked in. To start, I tasted some delicious whiskeys, which kicked off a truly special evening. But the real surprise came when I tried one of their cocktails with Indian spices. It was a unique and delightful combination of flavors that really tantalized my palate. One of the highlights of the evening was when I had the pleasure of trying a mango lassi. I had never tasted this drink before, but it was a sensational experience. It was refreshing, creamy, and bursting with mango flavor. I immediately ordered another one! The standout of the dinner was the tandoor oven-cooked chicken. It was perfectly cooked and had an incredible flavor. I could see right into the kitchen, and I was fascinated by how the naan bread was installed inside the walls of the tandoor oven for baking. It was captivating to see how everything was prepared with skill. Overall, my experience at the Indian restaurant in Amsterdam was exceptional. The shop itself is beautiful. The service is also undoubtedly very good. Unfortunately, the food is anything but acceptable for the price (over 30 euros per main course, e.g. butter chicken...). Boring seasoning in the first place. Meat isn't particularly good either. Too expensive for what you get. Unfortunately not recommended.

Entered with a warm welcome. We sat by the lounge area and had cocktails. The Mayur classic was one of the cocktails that a staff recommended. It was a nice mango lassi mixed with some alcohol. Further, we ordered the tasting menu and it was outstanding. We could taste a variety of indian dishes and the staff made sure to check if our needs were met. We had a lovely evening!

Came by with my family to celebrate my birthday. Had a wonderful dining experience and the food was authentic and rich in taste. The service was friendly and got surprised with a lovely combination desert that made our evening more memorable.

We were greeted well by staff and entered into a beautifully decorated restaurant. Lovely ambience. Upon looking at the menu, we found that there was a policy that one main meal must be ordered per person. Average price for one meal was 32 Euros and above. I had high hopes that the food standard would be reflective of the price and that we would get a lovely fine dining experience. When our food arrived, the portions were incredibly small. As you can see in the picture despite one main meal per person policy they grouped together the food (potato curry and rice). I strongly feel the quantity didn’t reflect portion for two. As we dished out the food the potato curry was undercooked and inedible. We told this to staff and they came out with lentils as a replacement for the potato curry. I had to be very stern and request that a replacement of what I ordered would be the only fair option. The lamb chops were well flavoured but again the meat quality wasn’t great and half the chicken was dry and overcooked. Upon paying for the bill we received no apologies and the staff member did not appear to care for our poor experience. We left heavily disappointed. This establishment was a poor reflection of a fine dining restaurant.

Major disappointment compared to the last time. Kulfi seemed like something from the supermarket. Chai was not tasty. Crepes were not tasty. Main courses were okay. Music was not right for the setting, it was music you would hear more often in the mandir or a spa.

If you like Nepalese/Indian food, this is an absolute must! Okay, you have to dig deep into your pockets for it, but the food is truly fantastic. Very tasty and beautifully served by very friendly service.

Friendly and attentive staff. Room decorated tastefully to deliver a comfortable experience. Mango lassi, grilled / tandoori items, dal and saag paneer were on point. Many of the other items were prepared with a lot of oil like you find in most Indian restaurants.
