I am very disappointed with my experience at this restaurant. I ordered Chicken Tikka Masala expecting authentic Indian flavors, but the portion did not meet my expectations. The chicken seemed like regular boiled chicken and not real tikka chicken, which should be marinated and grilled. There was little meat in the portion and there was a disproportionate amount of sauce. I told the staff about it, but the chef only replied that he has been working as a chef for 22 years. However, I think that the amount of work experience alone does not automatically mean that the food is of good quality. Customer feedback should be listened to and taken seriously. I came to the restaurant to get authentic Indian flavor, but unfortunately the food did not meet my expectations. I did not think the price-quality ratio was right, and the portion did not meet my expectations. If you are looking for authentic Indian flavors, based on my own experience, I cannot recommend this restaurant.

I came here to eat chicken for the first time after being a vegetarian for 22 years. The chicken was dry and disappointing and the sauce (I ordered butter chicken) was too sweet. The lassi was unsalted at the start and really salty at the end. When we complained about the dry chicken, we didn’t get a response from the staff. Not only was my first bite of chicken ruined, we also spent a lot of money on this. Severely disappointed in this tourist trap.

Went there yesterday and boy this is the worst Indian Restaurant in AMS to me. The food was low to mediocre and the prices insane! That's what makes this a 1 star to me (or lower). The chicken dishes were cooked beyond dryness - good for safety, rubbish for taste! They clearly have a tandoor, but the chef doesn't seem to know what to do with it. Avoid the tomato naan which at best tasfes like a naan with ketchup on it for an obscene price. They, on their fine dining side, have a rule to purchase at least a starter and a main, purely a money making play. Fine dining is not what i would call this - robbery yes. Its a shame, I've been here before when this was much better a place and not trying to be so pretentious. Never again for me

Visited last night !! What an experience we had. We felt like being in another world after entering this establishment. We had heard a lot about it. We loved it. Service was beyond you can expect. Food was delicious. The Butter chicken was so creamy and made with love. The lamb chops were juicy. It’s definitely a fine dining restaurant! Keep it up. See you again.

It’s a pitty that we lost years to finally have found a fine dining restaurant where the staff makes sure that everything is taken care of Food is impeccable. Service was great. We were contemplating to pick a restaurant for nice dinner & great family experience. That’s where my better half came across Mayur & I was not sure how the experience will be given we have been to many restaurants in Amsterdam. Moment we walked in (bit late from our booking & thanks to Amsterdam charm, walk in evening can make you stop at many places ), we were greeted with a broad smile & despite our booking cancellation, we were accommodated. Given two type of choices & warm welcome, we opted for fine dining. I think we made the right decision as person who received us, guided us to our seats & offered how fine dining experience works; we didn’t even had a look at the menu. Right from starters suiting our taste & mood at that time, main course with blend of their speciality as well as given our vivid family taste; we were served with balanced choices making our experience amazing. My curiosity trigger conversation with the server & it was delightful to hear that “Prashant” who was serving us turned out to be the owner. In his words, he is still working for his dad who unfortunately is no more still inspires Prashant & as a result, passion with which one is treated to have the best of experience while at Mayur was a great discovery for me. Food is great, experience is awesome & ambience is well suited for a nice evening. Deserts are yet to come & my better half reminded about the long monologue about this experience. But very seldom I come across people like Prashant who drives each moment with passion, must visit & a great conversation to have with him.

We got a very bad experience with this restaurant. Our Biriyani was lack of salt and requested salt never arrived. We Butter Chicken feels like looked two days begore and made warm for us. Rice potion wastoo small and it was not enough even for one person. It is too expensive for little food and less service by the service staff. "I do not recommend this restaurant."

went for a lunch without reservation , the staff informed without reservation they can only serve food in the bar area , despite no customers in the main restaurant . totally inappropriate attitude and approach of the staff member - who dint come and serve whilst we had a lunch . now the food - the starters had uncooked prawns , the tandoori roti was charred at the edges , the black dal had a superfluous dose of turmeric and dint taste properly cooked . apart form these we ordered parathas , mutton and chicken dish which were all perfect . sum up as poor experience for a lunch bill of > 200 euros . will not recommend this place

A timeless classic! It doesn't get any better than this! My parents took me here in the late 80s, and now, almost 40 years later, I do them a great favor by pampering them on special occasions. It is wonderful to see that the wine list is now perfectly aligned with the cuisine.

We would like to share a review of Mayur, our favorite Indian restaurant. We have been coming here for over 30 years and are always delighted. The food is exquisite, the service is meticulously taken care of, and the atmosphere has become even better—certainly now that the restaurant has received a fine dining upgrade—if that were even possible. We recently celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary with a dinner at Mayur, together with 26 guests. It was a great success and organized down to the last detail. As the icing on the cake, we even received a wedding cake as a gift, which made this special evening complete. We highly recommend Mayur to anyone looking for a culinary and hospitable experience!

I have been coming here myself since 1998. Back then, my father took me here to experience what it is like to enjoy top-quality food in a magnificent ambiance with the highest standard of service. At the time, the ashtray was emptied every time you tapped off your ash. Nowadays, I come here with my wife and children as often as possible (I know, far too little lately) to still experience the highest standard of service and quality in a renewed version with a new generation in a different time. Wishing nothing but love and prosperity for the Sharma family, who share their love, life, and passion with us at this special place.

A really impressive Indian restaurant and for a more special occasion I’d highly recommend. The decor is absolutely gorgeous and there’s a nice atmosphere despite the dining area remaining very quiet - a great place for actual conversation over a meal! We visited as a large group and the sharing set tasting menu worked really well. Every dish was presented well and the waiting staff did a great job of explaining what each dish was. Flavours were really good and there was plenty of food for the group size. A really enjoyable experience and I’ll be returning again next time I’m in the city.

We used to eat here often, but now it's a shadow of its former self. Indian cuisine is mediocre. The flavor is bland and lacking in aroma and spice. The service is correct but distant. The biggest drawback is the high prices. The wine is absurdly expensive. There's no reason for it. We won't be back.

Not what we expected. Service was extremely slow and most of the waiters had no experience whatsoever. We were seated in the fine dining area but none of the experience was fine dining. Way overpriced and the food is rather plain and in weird badly presented portions.

The best authentic Indian food in Amsterdam, from the start we open the front door the cleanest place with beautiful smell, we met the host and he is so kind, all staff is amazing, friendly helpful, the food is sooo heavenly. Relaxed atmosphere in the city center with almost excellent dishes

We loved the cozy and welcoming atmosphere of this restaurant/brunch spot, as well as the quality of the service. We were slightly disappointed with our dishes, especially considering the rather high price.

Restaurant located near the corner of the road intersection. The interior is beautifully decorated. They have a waiting table so you do not have to stand around while they get you settled in. A good couple of food options available, and it taste great. Good spot to dine with some family, or friends.

Overall, the experience was pleasant, though I did have to wait a while for my thali main course.

Upon entering, the restaurant made a good impression: the welcome was friendly, the service professional, and the decor atmospheric – exactly what you'd expect from a fine dining concept. Unfortunately, the positive experience largely ended there. The first thing I noticed was that the heating was very high, making it feel stuffy inside. Not pleasant when you're trying to enjoy a leisurely dinner. And then the most important thing: the food. That was downright disappointing. None of the dishes stood out in terms of taste or presentation. The quality was comparable to that of an average Indian restaurant on any street corner, and that's simply not good enough for the prices charged here. Some dishes were even bland or downright unpleasant. The quality of the ingredients was also disappointing. The average diner might not immediately notice it, but the foodie will immediately notice the difference. To make matters worse, I had an upset stomach the next day and had to visit the restroom several times – not exactly the kind of aftermath you want after a meal. All in all, this was a disappointing experience for me. The ambiance promises more than the kitchen delivers. Perhaps enjoyable for a one-time visit, but definitely not worth repeating – and certainly not at this price. Conclusion: a place with potential, with plenty of room for improvement in the kitchen. Three stars.

The butter chicken was incredibly tender and full of spicy flavor. The naan bread was served fresh from the tandoor, wonderfully fluffy. I did expect the service to be a bit faster, but the flavors more than made up for it. Definitely recommended for lovers of authentic Indian cuisine!
