Rabaab Indian Restaurant in Nieuwmarkt/Lastage

Great Indian Gugrati and Punjabi food, confirmed by Indian cuisine lovers directly from India. All additional requests fulfilled with grace and kindness. I recommend to try paneer palak/ spinach with cheese medium spicy<3 If you like more spicy take chana dhal. Most of tables are for maximum 4 peoples, but the owner has managed to join tables for 6 without any inconvenience to other guests. Walls are covered with beautifull paintings, but toilets could be renovated. An advantage is close do distance to the Centraal Station 3-4 min walk.

Unassuming restaurant in the center, but very good food, great value for money, we were very satisfied!

The wait for food was very long - we also got small portions. The food, however, when we got it was amazing.

Terrible Service! We waited 35 Minutes for our drinks, Food has not been served for 70 Minutes, despite there being no more than 10 customers. No apologies, Staff is just standing in the kitchen door frame. Food ok but small portion size. Avoid!

Unethical behavior by the staff I wanted to have dinner here on my first visit to Amsterdam. When I went to the restaurant they told me no tables are available for the next 2 hours without prior reservation. This was fine and understandable. As we were leaving I saw a couple enter the restaurant. They also didn't have a reservation but they had no issues in accomodating them immediately. This behavior is unacceptable and downright unethical. Beware of this place

We had a wonderful time at this restaurant. The welcome was warm and the service excellent. The food is excellent, and served in generous portions! We highly recommend it.

I had a reservation, but the restaurant was closed, and I was looking forward to trying it.

I ordered chicken and yogurt biryani (lassi), it was very delicious but unfortunately half of the rice was left because the chicken pieces were few and I don't eat rice without anything

🍽️ REVIEW – RABAAB INDIAN RESTAURANT, AMSTERDAM “Bacon in my spekkoek soul… and beats in the background as if I was in a Bollywood video clip” ⭐️⭐️⭐️☆☆ (3/5 – spicy, but spiritually damaged) As an Indo Muslim I know: spekkoek does not contain bacon. Period. So you can imagine how I stood there, with my mouth full of teeth and my brain confused, when the waiter seriously came to tell me that it does contain pork. Because yes, that’s where the name ‘bacon’ comes from. Seriously? I thought he was joking, but no. I suddenly doubted my entire family who have been baking and eating it for years. When I told them at home, my entire Indo family was laughing their heads off. Since then, it has been the joke of the year: “Spekkoek met spek, specially for Tafels & Tories.” The atmosphere? Actually quite nice. There was music playing in the background that made me feel like I had to do a little dance at any moment. A kind of mellow Bollywood meets lounge café vibe. I was almost in the mood for it, until the waiter started looking at me as if I were his ex. That look followed me until my kulfi arrived. And that kulfi? It was great. Creamy, sweet, cold… exactly what I needed after all the inner stress. But that look from the waiter lingered. As if he knew what I had just eaten. The price was on the high side, especially considering that I had put my faith and my wallet to the test. 📍 Conclusion: Nice vibes, good kulfi, spicy chicken. But I was spiritually betrayed by a dish I couldn't say goodbye to... and stared at by a waiter who felt my halal trauma live. Until the next bite of Tafels&Tories 🤙

I do not recommend visiting. I followed the evaluation and ordered chicken biryani. The taste was good, the yogurt was good, and the presentation was not good. The bread was as if it had nothing to do with the biryani. The picture is in front of you. It cost 20 euros. I do not recommend it and the smell of the floor was not satisfactory.

The food was not at all worth what they charged us for. The food felt like it was from one of those ready to eat meals and not freshly made. The dal makhani was not at all what a dal makhani is supposed to be but simply a normal dal. The paneer was also very average and was sweet when we had explicitly asked for a spicy version. The tables and restaurant were also dirty and had a weird smell. They took 20+ minutes to serve sub par food. Not worth it.

The butter chicken is too sweet. The portion size is small for the price but maybe that’s just dutch food.

Lovely little restaurant on a side street. Atmosphere is quiet and authentic. Service is friendly and attentive, highly recommend

Small place by the canal serving Indian and Indonesian cuisine. Food was good, but Bhindi consisted by two thirds of onion.

My husband and I went there for dinner, we are Indian American, the reason I mention this is because we were given the worst sitting choice, compared to the white customers dinning. We didn’t realize it earlier but when we settled down, we saw how we had been discriminated against, not surprised though, most of these restaurants run by brown people always discriminate against brown people. Not going back ever. Food was alright though.

Food was delicious, presentation can be better. Waiter was polite but we could never find him when needed. He was on his own in the restaurant.

Delicious food.. both days we tried their Rabaab Thali which really shows our traditional taste. And their karak tea was also very good. Especially, the service of Haris was too good.

Very good Indonesian place, delicious food here. We sat here on a Saturday evening, and they were very busy. We had to wait about fifteen minutes for the bill. Apart from that, this is definitely recommended!

One of the best Indian restaurants we have been to in a while. Asked for extra spicy and they delivered. Food was excellent.

You can order both Indian and Indonesian food here. The waiter was very nice. Location-wise, it's near central station, but located a tiny bit outside of the touristy streets. This caused a more calm atmosphere. We went there on a Sunday evening, I felt like the atmosphere was a little to quiet for my taste. The food was very good, and great portions.

Goed Indiaans restaurant, mango lassi was echt goed en de papadunn ook. Lekkere sauzen, lekkere chicken pakora. Het is wel een beetje duur.

No more than average. I've had much better Indian food. The ambience of the restaurant seems cramped and small. There is also a strong kitchen smell in the dining room. Unfortunately toilets are not clean.

Went here two nights in a row and had great indian food, very authentic and very reasonably priced for the euro zone. Highly recommend this restuarant. Many local residents dined here. The host is a likeable character.

Ordered food from this restaurant for the first time and was so positively surprised! Everything tasted perfectly, the delivery went very smoothly and above all quickly, and the assistance was very good and friendly when something went wrong. But especially that taste!! We will definitely be back!

What a gem of a restaurant ! The food was delicious and fresh. The service was quite attentive. Ignore the street construction...you will be rewarded with marvelous food, attentive service and a relaxing atmosphere away from the chaotic street scene of a block away. Kudos to the owners. Will definitely return soon.

Unfortunately, the Rabaab India Restaurant was disappointing across the board. The food was dry and not very tasty, which significantly reduced the enjoyment. The service took extremely long, so you should bring plenty of time. Given the mediocre quality, the prices were also unreasonably high. Overall, not a recommended experience.

Yo, hit up this spot last night and it was lit! Indian cuisine that's got some serious flavor. Honestly, not bad at all. The spices hit just right, and the vibes are chill. But, the service? Kinda meh. Took a minute to get our food and the staff wasn't really on top of things. Still, the food made up for it. Solid 4 outta 5 stars. Worth a visit if you're down for some good eats!

An excellent meal and this smallish and off the beaten track Restaurant. We opted for the 2 x Special Indian Meals for 2 (4 people in all) and a bottle of Chardonnay House Wine. All excellent. Friendly staff, excellent and plentiful food. Total came to €101.40, which we thought as excellent value for money. Highly recommended.

Big selection of menu items, a friendly waiter who patiently answers all your questions about ingredients and spiciness, good Indian and Indonesian food and a reasonable price. We came back the next day!

Très bon service, serveur souriant au petit soin pour être sûr que nous ne manquions de rien. La nourriture était très bonne. Le point négatif était que la carte était trop grande, donc difficile de choisir. Cependant nous y avons très bien mangé et les quantités sont conséquentes.

Oof! My favorite Indian restaurant in Amsterdam 🩷 mmmhh, definitely order there a few times a month. The best naan, you can taste that it is freshly prepared! Amazing saag paneer and lamb vindaloo, deliciously spicy and hot, the right spices. Staff are so friendly! Delivery on time and so friendly! Only plus! Atmosphere, 3 stars, because I did not eat in the restaurant itself, but it will probably be exactly the same or perhaps better. Toppers for me!!

We paid for two trays, they brought us only one tray (with a small quantity added) making us pay as if they were 2 trays

we went as a couple in December 2023, we were disappointed mainly by the price. I asked for additional sauce (without asking the price, I trusted). As a result, the sauce cost €18 more. really disappointed that we are taking advantage of tourists. The food was average, I wouldn't go back

I am sure the food would have been great but after 3 hours we still have no food. Not sure what went wrong tonight? We tried to call you multiple times. Could we please resolve this and get our money back?

Today I had dinner at Guru Restaurant in Amsterdam on my birthday. Supper delicious food! I recommend everyone to try The seekh Kebab as a starter, and Hari chicken tikka. With the main course we ate Daal tadka, Butter Chicken, Paneer kadai. I definitely recommend trying this too! Thank you for the delicious food!

The place is small, but being just outside the crowded central area it is easier to find a seat. Very good food and friendly, fast service.

The staff are super helpful and really try to make your experience great. The mixed kebab was really good. The tandoori lamb is the same as masala lamb, pretty salty but everything else was good.

Decor felt tired and gave the restaurant the ambience of a student venue. Food was passable but very overpriced (€22 for a madras, not including rice). Service was charmless. Regrettably, a disappointing experience overall.

Came here for dinner and decided to select from the Indonesian menu. Had the Ayam Malaka - chicken peanut curry - and Nasi Goreng. Good service, great food and will try some of the Indian options next time.
