McDonald's Groningen Sontplein in Zuidoost

Very bad, inedible, tastes so chemical... and the coffee with caramel is rubbish... water-based.... we threw everything away. A staff member grabs the food with his bare hands. And throws it on the bun..... I maintain that a menu is a menu, and mayonnaise belongs with it.... and paying 0.85 cents more. We will never come here again.

Great McDonald's restaurant with a drive-thru, coffee corner, and seating. Very clean, including the restroom. Friendly and good service. I was there on Thursday afternoon.

McDonald's Groningen Sontplein is a very well-known spot on the shopping boulevard, but unfortunately, the quality of the visit is often disappointing. Hygiene is a real problem there during busy times: dirty, sticky tables, stains on the floor, and trash cans that are so full that waste is scattered around them. The restrooms could also really use better maintenance. Furthermore, the staff regularly falls short. They give a rather uninterested impression, and it happens very often that items are missing (such as sauces or fries) at the McDrive or when picking up, or that the food is lukewarm. The grounds are fine and parking is good, but in terms of cleanliness and service, they really need to step up their game.

The milkshake was melted and not stirred properly, and we had to wait so long that the burger and fries were cold by then too. A shame.

Leftover fries and straw wrappers on tables/floor were not cleaned up, wiping down the table(s) was not done either, not a fresh environment, has been better in the past.

I find the food fine as long as it's hot, but unfortunately, 7 out of 10 times there they forget something or it's cold. The restaurant itself isn't clean either; the entire floor is sticky right from the start. It's as if the staff are too lazy to put one foot in front of the other.

Why to mention that you are open until 3AM if you are only open for drive through. Mention that explicitly in schedule .

Tasty food and good and fast service

I called this evening to ask if there was still room and if I could order something online, but I got no answer. She hung up immediately! I went there that evening and it was very busy.

I called this McDonald's to order something and the person who answered hung up after 2 seconds! Then I called again and that person didn't answer at all after 10 minutes! Really bad service! Definitely not recommended!

I was on the toilet at home within half an hour.

I have been to many McDonald's in my life. But I have never had a McDonald's with such good music. Think of songs like "Outside." Real bangers!

It's so bad when you get a milkshake that's so poorly filled. Seriously, it's expensive enough, so why put so little in it? And it's also a hassle to just go back when you're at the McDonald's drive-thru.

I don't know what has changed, but today this establishment pleasantly surprised me. We had to wait a long time, but the staff acted exactly as good service should. They kept us informed, took the time for a friendly chat, and really managed to pleasantly surprise us. Compliments to the team! The staff on the evening shift on July 25 at 9:30 PM deserve an extra thank you. This was the best service I have experienced here!

The only inconvenience is that the sauce is served in sticks, there is nowhere to put it. The entrance to the interior is equipped for disabled people

Excellent staff. Made a mistake in my order, but no problem with sorting and refund. A great example of customer service.

Terrible. Come in, order isn't going well. So you start a conversation with an employee. But then she says "please in English." I say, "No, we are in the Netherlands." It is getting crazier and crazier. And automatically you switch to English. It really shouldn't get any crazier. But apparently anything is possible in the Netherlands. And we, as Dutch people, are just supposed to let it happen and accept it. It is too ridiculous for words.

We come there regularly for the kids.

There was more than fifteen minutes between placing the order and the food being delivered, without an apology.

Ample parking. Waiting times are never long. The food is also always warm and hot. The staff are friendly and provide good service.

Fantastic campsite to stay at and also very good as a stopover. Very child-friendly and spacious pitches. Service was excellent, including at 9:30 PM during check-in and at the restaurant.

A much too long line for the McDrive!

We wanted a free McFlurry with our QR codes and one discounted one, but she said you can only scan one. We asked if we could scan the other QR code instead, but that wasn't possible because it had already been forwarded. So we lost points and paid a lot, and then I got a soupy McFlurry. I won't be coming back here.

8 euros and something for 2 small milkshakes that are barely three-quarters full? Are they even completely crazy🤣

The bathrooms here are available and clean, and they offer complimentary tart with coffee; their service is pleasant.

Third time when my order is wrong for take away

There was only 1 burger at the Bic Mac instead of 2, this is really pathetic.

Both McDonalds in Groningen manage every time to give you the orders wrong and the staff have no interest on being there .Horrible service!!!

The service was terrible. We waited an hour for our order. I asked three times when the order would be ready, and each time they answered rudely. There was a lot of food that hadn't been put away. And at the end they gave us a Coke with melted ice and no gas.

We've been waiting 40 minutes for our order, there are trays with leftovers on the table next to us and no one is clearing it up.

Expensive, filthy food. You get the local fatbike clan and nuisance thrown in for free, filthy place....but anyway, we’ll skip McDonald’s for some really good food at these prices. If the hygiene is this substandard, you can just keep your filthy hands off my meat and whatever else is edible.

I enjoy coming in to get a Coke or Frappe in the evening; however, they have made it a habit to turn off the Frappe machine after midnight. When you order a Coke without ice cubes, you get a half-filled cup, well below the line indicating 0.4L. The price-quality ratio is severely substandard, if you ask me.

You get told by the cashier that this is normal....lol

As is often the case at this location, the fast service isn't very good. It's as if the McDrive always has to take priority. Consequently, the food wasn't really warm anymore.

The burgers and coffee caramel frappuccino were very tasty. Good amount of sauce. (That is not the case at every McDonald's) Nice restaurant with clean toilets. Easily accessible.

The restaurant was downright filthy, and the toilet was an absolute farce. The staff clearly had little desire to make an effort. They walked past mess on the floor multiple times without even bothering to clean it up. Almost all the tables were dirty, and the floor wasn't any better. The kitchen staff were mainly occupied with each other rather than with the guests. I stood at the counter for at least three minutes without anyone looking at me, because they were too busy chatting amongst themselves.

You got my order right 49 out of 50 times. Very sweet lady at the counter. However, I had ordered a Big Mac, but it was missing. Order 2792 around 23:50 April 30. It can happen once, please pay attention.

A prison mess hall is probably more pleasant than this squalid shack. You enter a busy and soulless building and then have to type in your desired food at a pole. After a while, a grumpy teenager comes and slumps the food onto your table. I get that you don't go to a fast-food restaurant for a culinary experience, but this McDonald's is truly terrible. If it were actually cheap, you might consider it. But you easily pay €15 for a hamburger with some fries and a drink.

The food was cold and we had to wait fifteen minutes for it, even though it was quiet. I didn't find the staff particularly friendly, and they offered no apologies for the long wait.

Upon entering, we looked for a spot. The first place we came to was very dirty. I was with two children, and we saw that there was no one to clear the table; there was little to no staff in the early evening. We found another spot, which was also dirty. The children were tired, so we stayed seated. After the cashier hadn't taken our order correctly, I saw on the receipt that I went over there. Even then, I saw no one who could clean the table. We went back and waited a long time for our order. Eventually, I saw a girl. I called her over because she was just standing there doing nothing except staring ahead and asked politely if she could clear the table. She looked at me in surprise. I asked the same thing again and pointed to the table. I said, "Look." Then she looked at me strangely again and said, "What do you say? I don't speak Dutch." My 7-year-old son said, "Wow, unbelievable, Mom. So she doesn't even understand simple things like 'table' or 'clearing'?" I didn't know what to say because my jaw dropped in amazement. She clearly wasn't in the mood and apparently didn't think it was necessary. Nevertheless, she walked away sulking, only to grab a damp cloth that was still dripping. I got a completely wet table back; my mobile phone and my arms were lying on it, and my children were going to eat on it. I took my hands away, thinking she would come back to dry the table, but she didn't. I then went to look in my bag for tissues myself and dried the table. I think it is a real disgrace that someone like this walks around here and treats customers like this. Furthermore, the incorrect order was corrected without extra charge; that was the only thing that was resolved properly. I think it must have been the manager, but this girl needs to take an integration course and be properly trained before she starts working. Seriously, this is unacceptable.

Worthless service. Ordered 1 cappuccino. Had to wait 10 minutes for it. After 10 minutes, the girl puts it under the machine and walks away. Forgets to come back. Eventually, another boy with black curly hair picks it up. He tries to run off with my coffee, whereupon I say it's mine. He gives it to me with an angry look and without saying anything. It doesn't get much worse than this. And you pay 4.50 for that too.

Thought I'd give McDonald's a chance after years, but the burger was dry. The nuggets were good, but I wouldn't wish the rest on my worst enemy 😆

I ordered but never received my food. 12 euros I won't see back. Thanks a lot! Don't eat here unless you want to get scammed.

Just a regular mcdonalds for when you crave a mc burger

Ridiculous. I paid 32 euros for a tiny bit of food of the worst quality I have ever eaten. Hygiene was also nowhere to be found. The whole toilet stinks of piss, as do the doors and handles, which are filthy. It's not normal. They should be utterly ashamed that they dare to offer food in a place like that for these kinds of prices.

Got a cappuccino, which was okay. More expensive than, say, Veendam.

My order was missing all sorts of things. I called, and they offered to make it right by offering me a free menu. I received a letter about this in my email. When I tried to go to McDonald's again two months later, I apparently had to print out the letter and was refused entry. As if someone always carries a letter like that. A big "1" for the manager and the customer service.

Got 5 Chili Chickens in the McDrive instead of a Big Tasty and 6 spicy McGunnets. Not good. Unfortunately, I found out when I got home. Next time, please check before you order instead of blindly giving.

Nice cozy McDonald's we were there when it was very busy

Excellent service. Today (15-12-25) I received excellent service from a manager. First, he helped me scan the app, which I couldn't do at the terminal. I ordered a Friends menu (special offer item) and was asked which character I wanted, and he went to check if they had it for me. Previously, I was also helped well by a nice woman. I was missing an item (mini apple pies). She brought it to my table and included an extra! I'm very pleased with the service here!

Wow, what a terrible McDonald's. The staff is just standing around doing nothing, having the greatest laugh with each other. Your order is delivered cold. When you get your new order, it looks like everything has been thrown on it. The cheese is more on the side of the bun than on it. The sauce is more on the paper than on the burger. A bit of a shame. A quick bite quickly turned into an hour. And I don't think I'll be coming back here anytime soon.

First time here, lots of young people and it was a mess. Dirty tables, the floor was covered in trash.

After a visit to IKEA, we ate there in the car, through the MCdrive, and ordered a Meastro truffle and a Chicken Sensation menu with a small shake and fries sauce. All for €25. The food was cold, the Meastro didn't look like the pictures, and the Chicken Sensation was broken in the box. The fries were cold and chewy, and there was no fries sauce in the bag. The best part was the vanilla shake; it was a real shame. Never again.

Scammers! Compared to the recommended prices, Henk Sijtsma's prices are on average a whopping 50% more expensive. For example, small fries are recommended at €2.10, Henk's at €3.85. What a...

Change Bigmac to Smallmac. The pickles are now thicker than the burger.

That's also nice. If you order around 9:00 PM, your food never arrives, you check the app an hour later, and the order is pushed back to 10:30 AM the next day. Why are you still taking orders through Thuisbezorgd if you don't deliver after 10:00 PM? (Suddenly closed on the website.) By the way, your Google page says you're open until 1:00 AM...

The staff was very friendly and their behavior was excellent.

I was a bit early for an appointment so I thought I'd grab an iced coffee from the McDrive. It was 8pm and I had to wait almost 20 minutes, damn, not very 'fast food'.

Less quantity compared to the other McDonald’s for the same price!

The food was lukewarm. Young people (14-15 years old) were sitting there, rude to the staff and other customers. When they left, everything was thrown off the table and onto the floor. The staff didn't say anything and just cleaned everything up, seemingly trying to say something to the young people. A bit of a shame. Please provide staff who actually do something about it! I'll skip this McDonald's from now on.

The food tastes better and is cheaper than in Germany.

The food was delicious and hot. We ordered 8 chicken nuggets instead of the 9 we requested, and we received a whole 9 nuggets instead. The staff were friendly.

The quality of this McDonald's has really deteriorated. I've already received the wrong order at the drive-through three times in a short period.

I've had it delivered twice via Thuisbezorgd and ordered a Big Arch menu twice. And then they forgot to include fries twice. And then you have to deal with Thuisbezorgd yourself if you can't go there.

This is honestly the best mac and cheese I've ever had. The fries were hot and crispy, the wrap was generously filled, and there was a really sweet man cleaning the tables. 10/10

On Monday, October 13th, at 10:35 PM, I ordered a cheeseburger outside at table 701 via my order. Then a young man with glasses came and threw it right on the table. Unbelievable, never had such bad service!

It was busy, so we had to wait in line and drive. The food was delicious. The staff were friendly.

I often come here, waiting for my order while the staff stands around chatting and doing nothing in the kitchen. I saw my order, but nobody looked at it and it arrived 10 minutes later. Cold, disgusting food, and unfriendly staff. It wasn't even busy.

It's still an energy crisis at McDonald's. Tried to eat here again after a while, but it's the same as every other time. The fries are still limp and cold when they're served. The burger was also cold. At FEBO, the products are much hotter than they were at the store! The price is way too high for the quality.

The strawberry ice cream tasted like cream and jam, with a really nasty texture. We sat down at a table, and under it was a thick layer of grease and dust, and the benches were filthy too. Absolutely disgusting, I'll never go back. I didn't dare touch the handle of the trash can.

A very well-appointed McDonald's, simply fast, tasty, friendly service, and atmospheric. Clean, restrooms are okay. It's a pleasure to eat.
