Nela Restaurant in Zuidas

We sat at the chef's table and it was a fantastic experience. The staff was very friendly, professional, and informative, and we had a great time watching the chefs on the grill and preparing the desserts! Our dinner was a big highlight of our trip to Amsterdam.

The food, vibe, and staff are amazing, but +45€ bill only on the water, amid a heat wave, without any disclosure of the price (nowhere to be found in the menu), and being served plenty of times without asking is just nuts. There were 4 of us, and plenty of other drinks were ordered. Reading other reviews now I see it’s a pattern.

NELA is a stylish and atmospheric restaurant with a modern look. The shared dining concept is nicely set up and invites you to sample various dishes together. The dishes were flavorful and clearly prepared with care. The ribeye was very tender and is definitely recommended. The staff was friendly, welcoming, and helpful. However, we found the prices to be on the high side for what you get. The music was sometimes quite loud, making it harder to understand each other clearly. Also, the entrance was not immediately easy to find, so we had to search for a bit. All in all, a nice experience and definitely recommended if you enjoy shared dining in a stylish setting.

Perfect! We had a delicious meal, top-notch service, and a lovely ambiance!

We made reservation for a special occasion but the overall experience was disappointing. Dinner took nearly 2.5 hours, with over 1hour spent simply waiting. Service was frustratingly slow throughout the evening but it was not a busy night at all. We had to repeatedly wait to order drinks, desserts, and eventually the bill, while staff often walked past despite our attempts to get their attention. One particularly annoying issue was that staff kept asking us to get more water even though we still already had water and cocktails, which felt unnecessary and disruptive. The table setup was also poor — two tables had been pushed together but were not properly aligned, with one noticeably slanted. The receptionist was friendly and welcoming, but unfortunately that was the only positive service interaction we experienced. The food itself was just average and didn’t come close to justifying the price. For €100 per person, I expected a much higher standard of food, service, and a good vibe. Overall, poor value for money and not somewhere I would recommend .

Came here with friends and it's genuinely one of the best dining experiences I've had. Warm atmosphere, attentive staff, and food that does all the talking. The beef ribeye was flawless, the ginger lemon chicken was fresh and perfectly balanced, and the tiramisu was unlike anything I've tried — they serve the coffee on top as little spheres that look exactly like caviar. Stunning presentation, even better flavour. Will 100% be coming back.

Rarely have I left hungry, but can you manage on just one shrimp as a main course? The okra also considered the 4 broccoli sprouts a full-fledged dish. My main course arrived 15 minutes early and was already finished by the time my girlfriend had to start on her single shrimp; what a fake place! Good chairs from Artisan though!

Nela surprised me with the food: really delicious, and it's nice that you can still order late. The lobster and the yellowtail were absolutely top-notch; a 10/10 as far as I'm concerned. Unfortunately, the service was a bit disappointing. The staff didn't come across as very friendly and didn't check if everything was to our liking at the table. Additionally, the music was quite loud and it was pretty dark inside, which made the experience slightly less pleasant. All in all, highly recommended, especially for the culinary aspect, but there is still room for improvement regarding the service and atmosphere.

Delicious food. Amazing innovative dishes and beautiful presentation. Chef Sachin knows what he’s doing with every dish celebrating the flavour of its components but beautifully enhanced with spice and component ingredients. Highly recommend. Have been once for dinner and lunch. Leave room for dessert as this is also brilliant.

My fourth time at Nela and it didn't disappoint! The service and food are outstanding, the wine and cocktails are great as well. I'll definitely keep coming back to Nela. Highly recommended

Wow a really fantastic find. This Resturant has a very inviting vibe; vegetation dishes constitute a whole page on the menu with a wide variety of unique preparations. One of the most unique pizza preparations - crispy thin with a very different flavor profile vs other pizzas. We ordered too much food and everything was really fresh and tasty. Guido was really a great host who took care of us for the entire evening supported by a whole team of very responsive serving team. We will definitely go back again.

A truly fantastic restaurant! The ambiance is beautiful, and the view of the open-fire grill makes the visit particularly special. We had Chateaubriand and various appetizers – the meat was absolutely superb, perfectly cooked, and bursting with flavor. The tiramisu for dessert was also a highlight and definitely highly recommended. Overall, a wonderful culinary experience – we'll gladly return!

From Nijmegen to Amsterdam: I’m more than happy to drive a little out of my way for @nela.restaurant! There is no place where you receive such a warm welcome. Whether it’s the owner, the manager, or the team behind the bar, you feel right at home here immediately. Add the amazing food to that, and you’ll understand why this is my absolute favorite. Truly the place to be in town!

Unfortunately, the experience did not meet expectations. The restaurant looks luxurious and the prices are on the high side, but the food was very disappointing and even a bit tasteless. The service was friendly but lacked professionalism. The place is overrated and, given the price-quality ratio, not recommended.

I used to love this restaurant, but one staff member has completely ruined it. He lies about being the owner. I’ve been here enough times to know this isn’t true. His behavior is disrespectful, unprofessional, and unacceptable. I’ve never been treated this badly in any restaurant. Replace him.

Only half of the food is good. Service is ok (for the level too many fauxpas). The interior is extraordinary though. Really beatiful place. All in all the delivery doesn’t live up to the expectations. The verdict I would tell my friends: Come here for drinks not the food.

Absolutely stunning experience! Top quality ingredients , meticulous cooking , superb service! Starters and especially vegetable dishes to die for. Main courses were equally great but guys…those desserts…mamma Mia! I would come back for everything aforementioned but I would come again and again for those desserts! (Unbeatable Pavlova, the most airy tiramisu ever and a chocolate bar to lick your fingers) . Congratulations to the entire team!

An interesting dining experience. The place is a bit fancy, but the food is really enjoyable. We ordered different cuts of meat, a pizza starter, and a unique dessert I had never tried before.

We’re lucky to live in The Valley, which means Nela is practically in our backyard, and because of that we visit quite regularly. And honestly, every single time it’s a 10 out of 10 experience. From the moment you walk in, everything just feels right. The atmosphere, the attention to detail, the warmth of the staff, the service is on another level. It’s the kind of place where hospitality feels effortless but incredibly refined at the same time.The food is simply outstanding. What makes Nela special is how pure and high-quality the dishes are. Ingredients are respected, flavors are clean and balanced, and the quality is remarkably consistent every time we visit. That consistency is rare, and Nela absolutely nails it. A huge compliment also goes to the chefs Ori and Hari. What they are doing in the kitchen is truly impressive. Their teamwork, creativity, and precision result in dishes that are both elegant and deeply satisfying. You can feel that there is an incredible team behind the scenes, and it shows in every plate that leaves the kitchen. Nela is not just a great restaurant, it’s a place that consistently delivers an exceptional dining experience. We feel genuinely fortunate to have it in our building, and we look forward to many more evenings there.

We were really looking forward to our dinner at Nela, but unfortunately, it was a huge disappointment. The atmosphere was very chaotic: it was too crowded and the music was blaring, making it impossible to have a normal conversation. The service was also subpar. The staff were clearly too busy, so we constantly had to find or call them. On top of that, orders were forgotten and mixed up at our table. For this price and reputation, you simply expect much more.

This place looks very luxurious and the atmosphere is nice, but unfortunately the food does not match the appearance. The dishes lacked flavor and could really use better seasoning. For a restaurant with this kind of image, I expected much more in terms of taste and quality. It has potential, but the flavor just wasn’t there.

The restaurant is modern, spacious, welcoming, and beautifully decorated, with a fantastic open kitchen. The menu offers something for every taste. The wine and champagne list is excellent.

On a Friday night, we ventured a little south to try Nela, feeling both curious and cautiously optimistic. Some dishes were genuinely fantastic - surprisingly, the carrots completely stole the show, and the yellowtail was excellent. The rest was good, just not quite as memorable. The wine list is strong, and our bottle was great quality and beautifully balanced. It did feel like our table was chosen for waiter training night. Our server was practicing the basics (including leaving the cork and opener on the table as a souvenir), and while we fully support learning on the job, the supervisor standing quietly behind me for most of the evening felt slightly intense. A small heads-up would have been appreciated — we’re very understanding people! Lastly, once dinner was over, there wasn’t much happening in the area, so we headed back to the city centre. In the end, while there were highlights, the trip south didn’t quite feel worth the detour.

Last visited January 2026 Visited Nela a number of times now, usually at bar dining with a few drinks. Good recommendations by the bar staff on what to order. Check the pic out. DJ on the decks after 9pm..... great atmosphere. Planning on visiting again so will update the review and pictures. Pricey but expect it with the high standards of the food and drinks. The food was delicious, but the reception was terrible. Two arrogant ladies explained to me in English that if I didn't know exactly who had booked under what name, I wouldn't be allowed in the restaurant. It's the tone that makes the music. For a restaurant with this allure, it was a huge letdown...

Stunning restaurant with an open kitchen with food cooked over goals. The sea bass and core de boeuf were just stunning and the leaks a must. Beautiful inside and great service. Pricey but worth it.

My new favorite restaurant in the Netherlands. We have been here before, and once again the experience was superb. Sitting at the chef’s counter creates a great atmosphere, and the menu offers beautifully prepared dishes with great flavors and well-balanced combinations. In addition to excellent seafood and meat dishes, there is also a wide selection of outstanding vegetable dishes. The ingredients are clearly of top quality, and the wine list pairs beautifully with the food. What truly completes the evening is the staff: the chefs, host, and waiter are all incredibly attentive, welcoming, and happy to engage in conversation. We felt genuinely welcome and will definitely return. Compliments to the entire team!

Finally made it made back to Nela! We have a party of 10, birthday night with friends…. Nela was exceptional! The sharing menu concept for a large group was perfect, we were spoiled with one dish after the other, the timing was perfect between “rounds” of food… perfectly balanced with cocktails, champagne and wine throughout the mean … everyone had a wonderful time! The music creates a real buzz throughout the meal… loved it .. a special mention to who took care of us on the night, world class service all night for a large group! Sorry no photos … we were having too much fun

Went to bring New Years Eve in with my partner and honestly couldn’t believe how average the food was. The building was lovely and service was quite good however the dishes were average at best. Ribeye was poor, the leeks with hollandaise and caviar was bland, the dessert was like a cheap choc ice. Honestly couldn’t believe the poor standard being sent out by the kitchen. I definitely would not recommend and left Amsterdam disappointed after looking forward to bringing the new year in, in what I thought would be a lovely meal for us.

Nela is a beautiful restaurant with an appealing concept: good food and delicious drinks, prepared primarily over an open fire. Our initial enthusiasm for a promising local restaurant turned to disappointment, as Nela ultimately felt overpriced. Portions are tiny, there's a lot of showmanship, and everything happens at a remarkably fast pace. You easily pay hundreds of euros per person, while sitting in the din and having to make room within a few hours. A relaxed, high-quality meal, with room for dessert and a glass of wine to relax afterward, is usually not an option, although this was less of a problem during our last visit. Moreover, during one of our visits, some of the wait staff, and sometimes guests as well in the summer, were visibly smoking a few meters away in/near the doorway, right in front of the large window on the terrace. This shows a distinct lack of class. To be fair, when the maître d' realized we were noticing this, he intervened and the matter was resolved. From 10:00 PM onwards, the music, which has been too loud all evening, is cranked up another notch or two. A heavy, nightclub-like bass thump then dominates the space. And then you think you're dining out in style. Meanwhile, the ladies around the bar are happily sipping their cocktails, which, in my opinion, makes the nightclub atmosphere too dominant. Many local residents won't consider Nela a positive experience, as in the past the establishment has regularly caused considerable noise pollution late into the night, sometimes until 2:30 AM, literally affecting around 200 apartments. Fortunately, the noise has decreased recently, except on holidays like King's Night and New Year's Eve, but that's perhaps just part of the experience. In short, I have mixed feelings about this place. You can have a lovely evening there and enjoy top-notch food, but bring your wallet and, in some cases, your earplugs 😏.

i could say that the restaurant is likely a bit to much focussed on their regular clients. however we felt quite welcome and the restaurant looks amazing, however the lighting could be better to bring out the nice vibe. the drinks from the bar (cocktails) where great. the food on christmas day (2nd christmas) was boring and tasteless. you see the quality of the meat and products however the food did not taste very well as it should do. perhaps the chef could taste its own food instead of making insta pictures with their regulars. i would not recommend this restaurant for these price/quality ratio to my friends.

We went there on our wedding anniversary and they made it a great experience. Guido and Jessica were a great crew who were very friendly and attentive. Our 8 year old son was very happy with the pizza. He was curious towards and cooking and was taken to chefs table where he was talking to the chefs and had a great experience. I will highly recommend it and will definitely visit again.

Nela Amsterdam is truly a unique dining experience. Everything is cooked over charcoal, and the shared-dining concept works beautifully here. Every dish bursts with flavor—varied, bold, and genuinely surprising in the best way. The food is not only delicious but also well-priced for the quality you get. The wine list is good, but the pricing feels a bit steep. I missed a stronger mid-range selection—there aren’t many bottles around the €50 mark, which would nicely bridge the gap between the lower and higher tiers. The interior is stylish and warm, with plenty of cozy corners that offer a sense of privacy while still being part of the energetic buzz that fills the restaurant. If there’s one drawback, it’s the location on the Zuidas, where parking is notoriously expensive. Luckily, Amsterdam Zuid station is only a 5–10 minute walk away and makes a great alternative. Staff speaks mostly English (some Dutch). If you want to surprise someone with a memorable meal, Nela is absolutely the place to go!

We visited Nela Restaurant for our Christmas dinner with the team, and it was an absolutely wonderful experience. We chose the tasting menu, and every dish was truly exceptional: creative, beautifully presented, and full of amazing flavors. The service was excellent as well — attentive, friendly, and perfectly paced throughout the night. Overall, Nela delivered a memorable dining experience that exceeded our expectations. It’s a place where great food, atmosphere, and hospitality come together seamlessly. We will definitely be returning!

Came by for a late lunch on a Monday just before they took a break! They were very accommodating and seated me at the chef counter to watch my meal being prepared. It was recommended to try one each of the small plates from each page of the menu. Tried the Torched Toro (fatty tuna belly), baby leeks and flame grilled sea bream. The Torched Toro was one of the best I ever had especially with the turmeric butter from the complimentary bread and the smokiness of the sear. The baby leeks were revelatory. I didn't expect that much flavor and again the fire added so much umami to it. The sea bream was also fire grilled with some pesto type paste on it. Again the fire and smokiness complimented the fresh fish perfectly. The Saffron Heaven cocktail was very good. The service was exemplary.

Our evening at NELA was truly perfect. The staff were incredibly attentive and immediately recognized us, which made us feel so welcomed. We were treated to delicious small bites beyond our order, and they even prepared old favorites that are no longer on the menu. Every detail came together flawlessly.

The best restaurant I have dined in that has no Michelle stars. Super starter. I had the Coal Yuzu cocktail that was refreshing and well made. The waygu beef, oysters, deep fried mushrooms were outstanding. For mains we had the sirloin steak with 2 sauces Ginger extract and a spicy Jalapeño sauce. Also the Sea bream with green coating. Both were spectacular. The desserts were also very special. Hats off to the Chefs and owners for such a brilliant restaurant. By the way it's expensive but not exorbitantly pricy. Will surely recommend it to people with good taste and want an epicurean experience. Bravo. We'll done. I'll be back May be in London next. Who knows.

Building was lovely, chefs and food were incredible and service was good - a few things though, we waited a very long time between bites of food, at the end of the meal the ‘special’ which was a £140 CDB which we weren’t told about, when we couldn’t Finish the mammoth steak that came at the end, I asked if we could take it home along with some other bits and the answer was no… I spent as much on my hotel for 6 nights as that meal and I couldn’t take it home.. tainted our whole evening and was a real shame.

Upon arrival, we received a completely unwelcoming welcome. The woman at the entrance had a particularly nasty attitude, which made us feel completely unwelcome. Hopefully, something will be done about this, because first impressions are so important.

A night at Nela is simply the best night out, with amazing food, delicious drinks, excellent service and warm and welcome vibes all over.

One of the best meals I have had in 2025. The ribeye steak and Lamb were both very very good. A little bit loud and service was a tiny bit slow, but overall it was great.

We had a nice experience. The building itself is very luxurious. For the food, the short rib and lamb shank melted in your mouth, however the meat itself lacked more seasoning/flavour. The red wine jus/reduction really elevated the dish tho and gave it a ton of flavour. I did miss the “real” lavash bread, but I can appreciate the fine dining alternative. The cocktails were delicious as well. Our hostess was very sweet and attentive. The younger waiters could show a bit more enthusiasm however.. We will definitely be coming back, worth the trip to Amsterdam from the south! Overall the Netherlands has a shortage of restaurants like these. We understand why Lando Norris likes it😉

A wonderful lunch experience high above the busy Zuidas. Nela, located on the 2nd floor of The Valley building, is a beautiful mix of modern elegance and warm atmosphere. The sleek interior, soft lighting, and inviting ambiance make it a lovely place to relax and enjoy good food. We were greeted kindly and shown to our table, where the sharing menu took us on a delicious journey. A mix of vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes—all beautifully prepared and full of flavor. Each dish felt special. This is not the place for something simple, but rather for those who enjoy refined and creative food. Prices are a bit steep, yet the experience is well worth it. Desserts are charged separately, but make a perfect ending to the meal. It was a memorable visit, and we will definitely return.

Incredible evening. Every dish, every interaction with the staff and the venue itself were all brilliant. Wouldn’t have wanted to spend our first wedding anniversary any differently. 100% going to go to the London restaurant now we’re back in London! Thanks to everyone at Nela for a great night.

Following Excellence: A Perfect Meal at Nela Amsterdam ​We loved Nela London so much (it's just 100 steps from our apartment!) that we immediately booked a reservation at Nela Amsterdam during our four-day getaway—a first for us to follow an international chef! ​The experience was simply incredible. We were honored that Chef Ori remembered us and was kind enough to stop by for a quick chat and a selfie. (Note to self: I need to work on my selfie skills—the photo was blurred, but the memory isn't! I'll let my husband take the photo next time we cross paths in London.) ​We had a fantastic view sitting at the Chef’s Kitchen Counter and watched in awe as the team moved in unison—it's truly a well-oiled machine. The live fire kitchen presents such excitement as steaks, vegetables, and seabass are cooked with flair on the grills and in the clay oven. It’s an art form. We even watched Chef Alberto and Chef Jasper perfectly execute our made-to-order ribeye. ​We felt like celebrities when Chef Ori sent over a complimentary caviar starter, followed by a freshly made dessert from Chef Julia. Our server, Matilda, was wonderfully attentive, and Florentene gave us a warm welcome upon arrival. ​Both Nela locations have definitely perfected the art of cooking seasonal ingredients that truly come to life through fire and modern techniques. We can't wait to return!

From the minute you walk into the restaurant there is a warm welcome and it carries on throughout your whole stay, so well looked after by everyone and attention to detail, now that’s what I call hospitality! The food amazing love the idea of the food comes out once ready no starters or mains and the desserts to die for so very special would highly recommend to go this new restaurant which has a lovely atmosphere

A great food experience with a good variety of combinations. The suttle taste of smoke from the charcoal grill blended in perfectly in every dish.

We had high expectations, but unfortunately, they were disappointing. The restaurant looks beautiful and has potential, but for a so-called high-end restaurant, the execution doesn't match the high prices. The portions in the shared dining concept were small (with 11 dishes for 4 people, we weren't full) and we ended up ordering a pizza and 3 desserts. The service was impersonal: dishes were brought out without a word, which felt a bit like an "all you can eat" restaurant. There was also no question about whether everything was to our liking. The food was inconsistent. The meat was good, but many dishes were unbalanced (wagyu too sour, steak tartare too salty). The desserts were also confusing: the "tiramisu" and "pavlova" looked nothing like their names suggest (which is fine, but I don't understand why they call it that) and they were brought back without mentioning which dessert it was and without a moment to ask a question. A beautiful restaurant, but especially for these prices, it's too cluttered and subpar.

What a wonderful evening at the Chef’s counter. Chef’s Alberto, Chris and the pastry chef made us feel so welcome and were just a delight. Albeit service being a little slow, the food is fantastic and it’s really vibrant in the evenings on a weekend. I highly recommend the vegetarian dish, king of which are the zucchini and the truffle cabbage. Scallops are just otherworldly.

Been here a few times, the ambiance is warm and high-end, with Balearic beats and relaxed staff who seem to enjoy working there, which is great to see, especially in Amsterdam. On a Saturday it can be quite a party, nice dj and we were happy with Vitaliy as bartender - customized drinks to our preference, great convo, friendly character and a very service oriented approach. Will definitely come back! 5 stars for professionalism.

Nela is one of those place we kept saying we must go to based on friend’s experiences. Last night we finally got there and it was incredible. The food was outstanding with inventive and such delicious dishes. Everything from beginning to end was so wonderful and the space and decor is so cozy and chic. Special thanks to our wonderful serving staff Pretty, David and the lovely guy from South Africa whose name we did not catch (maybe Alex?)Thank you for such a wonderful evening-we are already booking our next visit!

Beautiful restaurant with amazing staff, drinks and food! Came here for drinks on a Friday night and we sat by the bar. Didn’t have a full dinner, more small plates to share, but I’ll definitely be back to try more dishes!

Don't go here for the atmosphere. This is a restaurant that offers excellent food and great service. The staff here are examples of what many restaurants could learn from; they're highly trained and service-oriented. Hats off to the chefs. Top-notch food.
