I've found my happy place: good beer, perfect atmosphere, and wonderful music. The lady is very kind and friendly.

The owner was extremely rude and aggressive, even with a group of women aged 18 to 56. It seems he hates Italians, even reading other reviews. He treated us really badly, yelling at us in the bar, and he charged us for 6 drinks and only gave us 5, thus stealing our money without giving us a receipt, like a dishonest person. He was so "overexcited" that we finished our drinks and left immediately without saying anything to him. He would yell and attack us if we didn't speak perfect German or English, unlike him, who was now slurring his words! He has to thank the large number of tourists and the cafes across the street, which are very nice and honest, unlike him!

The owner was really rude and aggressive, he treated us really badly by shouting in the bar, he made us pay for 6 drinks and gave us only 5 but he was so upset that we finished consuming and left without telling him anything because he shouted and attacked us for everything we asked him.

Visited this bar pretty much everyday of our trip. Friendly bartenders! Coffee shops don’t serve alcohol so it was a great set up to have this bar across from the coffeeshop- literally walked 10 feet from purchasing my preroll to entering the bar and getting a beer. I didn’t find any other bars that allowed smoking (prerolls only) inside- truly a treat. I saw some other reviews complaining about the rules they set. Understandably, everyone that enters must get some kind of drink. Otherwise they’d have high people sitting around and smoking for free all day- just get a drink and chill y’all lol.

The staff was very rude. I asked about the bathroom, and they responded in a very impolite manner, treat tourists badly.

there is a rule that everybody on the table has to drink even if there are a few tables unavailable, the price is also more expensive than average and the bathroom is not good

My fiance and I visited Amsterdam from the US with 2 friends of ours for my fiances birthday week. We visited De Kroon bar everyday, sometimes we would swing in more than once a day. We love dive bars and this place has that great dive bar feeling so we felt right at home here. FERRY & ROSE were our favorite bartenders! They were so welcoming and friendly and helpful with local information and directing us to good places to eat. Football was on some of the we visited & we love how everyone gets into the games. The beers on tap offer a nice range to choose from & the cocktails were great as well. You are able to smoke here, but it's still a bar so as a customer, you do need to buy a drink while you hang out. Whether it's alcohol or a soda. This is how the bartenders make their money, just like any other bar you would visit. We appreciated the fact that Rose wouldn't let groups of people just take up space for long periods of time if they weren't drinking. It's a small place so in order to keep business going & give others seeking a place to drink and smoke somewhere to sit and relax, they have to be able to turn the tables. We understood this as we owned a small restaurant ourselves. They do have two tables outside with seating as well. Although they dont serve food here (its a drinking bar afterall), there is a plethora of food options all around it. Just ask which ones are the good ones. We definitely will be back to Amsterdam and back here to what became our favorite bar while on vacation. We hope to see Rose & Ferry again when we do! Cheers!

Absolutely rude. I get that there is a policy to buy something to sit at an establishment. My husband wanted a beer and sit outside to smoke. That's was fine. I wanted something hot as it's 33° out. This place only served cold drinks. I said no thank you. I was told I couldn't be there even though he got a beer. This place was empty inside and out. Watched multiple people go in and then immediately leave. Now what if I decided after his beer came that I did want something, there went a sale. So instead I went across the way and got a hot coffee and sat there. We talked to each other across the ally. I recommend avoiding business with this place. See rude sign attached.

I don't highly recommend it, the prices are excessive and as soon as we arrived they demanded mandatory consumption of each one, something that didn't happen in other places like the cafeteria next door and I mean 5 euros for natural water? It's too much, the cafeteria on the other side is better, better in everything

Better go to the bar on one side, better atmosphere, better prices and better treatment, I did not feel comfortable as soon as I arrived that they demanded consumption from each of us, I have gone to other places like the one on one side and I have spent better time with friends without them demanding anything from us and the prices are excessive, better look for another place

Lovely vibe and can smoke roll ups

This is a great place to grab a drink and have a smoke. The bartender is super helpful and friendly. Ignore the negative reviews. Definitely saw people trying to take up seats without paying for anything which is just plain rude. Be polite and spend some money.

They often get bad reviews about the bartender's service and I experienced that once, luckily I was in a calm mood,,, just watch out, you will soon be hit hard if your fake tough behavior doesn't change. There are very strange people walking around!!!!!!

Edited review: This other prick has kicked me out and flat out refused service for the second time now. I don't know how you can say you work as someone who provides services and goods if you will refuse to sell them to me. Does my money not spend? I have Euro currency that I would like to exchange for an ice tea, why can I not have it? Just because I was not ready to get it at your convenience? Who is the customer here? Clearly not me because I was not allowed to be a cusotomer twice now. I hope the tip I left here the other night does not even exist in the same room as this prick. If you let me in tonight I can buy you an ice tea and you can sit on it. Another edit: So as I walked through that place again I stepped in to tell him that I gave a 5 star review and that he should read it and I left. When I was at the exit, the guy shouts to me "Do I look I care?". By the time he said it, I was already outside and still heard him shout it very loudly. Now I can only imagine how loud it was for the customers inside - many of whom were sitting at the bar, directly across from him. So these customers who just wanted to enjoy their drink had to have their ears blasted because I told the guy I gave the bar 5 stars. To answer your question, I think perhaps you should care. I think your boss and your colleagues and your customers might care. My only suggestion is to do what I will do from now on; only come in when this prick is not working. Ferri is still the best bartender in the house ! ❤️

Good place for drink a beer and smoke a joint

As soon as we sat at the bar, the bar staff's speech and behavior was very rude. The same attitude continued in the following hours. I think he acted this way because we were foreigners. There was a fly in my beer, it couldn't be eaten. If you're not a local, I wouldn't recommend you go. We literally felt left out.

STAY AWAY from this bar! The bartender exploded at me and it was definitely unwarranted. Bad customer service. I was high but meek, I was not demanding or mean I most definitely do not recommend this bar, especially to tourists.

Good bar to watch football (was here for Euro 24). You can smoke weed here, just can't roll your own. You can buy, and roll up, in the coffeeshop opposite, though.

We stopped in after seeing that the last three reviews were negative because we felt the reviews were unfair and we’re glad we did! The bar has been rebranded to De Kroon Bar and Rose was absolutely excellent behind the bar!

The bartender was very rude. He yelled at us because my friends and I sat for 10 mins without ordering drinks. One friend went to the bar to order so the bartender refused to serve and kept giving us hard time because he wanted everyone to order at the same time. He basically kicked us out. We were all tourists and we couldn’t believe his attitude.

Absolutely appalled by the treatment we received from the bartender at this place. He was not just rude, but outright hostile, eventually kicking us out without any valid reason. This kind of behavior is unacceptable and completely unprofessional. It's pathetic to see someone so bitter and miserable, lashing out at customers just because they don't have a life. I genuinely feel sorry for anyone who has to interact with this person regularly. Do yourself a favor and stay far away from this Bar if you don't want your night ruined by a toxic, unpleasant bartender.

Was in Amsterdam for a football match between Netherlands and Scotland, and met up with friends here for a few beers. Good laid back mellow bar, and the prices were not all that bad, so happy enough with my visit here,

After seeing some other reviews. I can only say that I had a great experience here. Had a couple pints of good, fresh Heineken and enjoyed the rest of my day!

This is by far the worst bar in Amsterdam, do yourself a favor and don't come here if you have any self respect. The bartender appears to be an alcoholic who has no class whatsoever, never encountered someone so rude in any establishment. Reading through some of the other reviews, I can see many others had a similar experience, some even worse. How he treats other people is a reflection on who he is as a person, so I'm glad to be avoiding this place like cancer in the future. Not to mention the place is dirty and has a really ugly atmosphere.

Come on in! Drink beer. Relax. Have fun! Found in one of those interesting, narrow Amsterdam streets.

Super atmosphere in more ways than one. Came here in 2016 and came back for more. Super relaxed atmosphere and good beer. The bar guy’s been working here 18 years. Met lots of interesting people from all over the planet. Even if you’re not 420, the passive atmosphere will have you ultra mellow in no time.

One of Amsterdam's best bars! Friendly and genuine staff. The last time I was here, the owner treated the tourists as if they were locals. No fake staff here! A great (and well run bar) in the heart of Amsterdam.

Everything we want in a vacation to Europe is here. Fantastic drinks, customer service, good conversation with locals and other travelers. Could have spent all night here and come back again the next night, but we had a flight to catch. Every trip to Amsterdam will include at least a stop here. It’s a little divey, but perfect.

Gezellige bar in Amsterdam, was als een van de weinige nog open na 01:30. Toen de klok een uur terug ging was de bar ook gewoon open tot 3:00.

The owner gave me a beer when i said my Mum had just died. He's rude to all the customers that arrive feeling entitled and his mate came in with some beautiful Moonrock. Not as cheap as park benches or supermarkets but you get what you pay for. Highly recommended.

Really cool little bar, Rose the barmaid is very direct and to the point and seemingly some people take that the wrong way, but that is the Dutch way. Really nice atmosphere, friendly people and a decent pint of Heineken. Bonus that you're allowed to smoke your pre rolls in the bar, just ask for an ashtray. When I come back to Amsterdam in a few months I'll be sure to make this my local.

I haven't had any food, but I really appreciate the service and the atmosphere.

This place wasn't too far from our hotel and is near a few coffee shops as well. We used this place a meeting place once while we wanted some drinks and waited for our friends. The staff are friendly, reading through the comments here I think people may misunderstand a strong personality running a bar, the lady behind the bar did tell another group of people if you want to wait around and sit down outside you need to buy a drink which is completely fair in my opinion as there aren't many seats and is down a very busy ally way. She also told people you can smoke but you have to roll in the coffee shop next door which is literally right opposite a step away from the bar. If the house rules are respected, which we did, this place is a great place to grab a drink, have a smoke and people watch walking by constantly. We would happily return here.

Nice chilled place to drink located on a small, busy alleyway off the main road. The owner is a happy guy who is always whistling. Havent tried food. Large pint 7.5 hineken.
