I secretly hope that not all of Amsterdam discovers this because it is such an incredibly nice place with delicious food and fantastic wines ♥️

Very talented female chef who offers seasonal set menus that provide traditional flavors and elevated presentation. The price is extremely affordable and the staff are kind. Definitely recommend ! Update 2025: Still mindblowingly creative and delicious dishes. I am such a huge fan of their approach to food and wine. A favorite in Amsterdam, and I absolutely cannot wait to go back!

A five-course surprise menu, where classic Italian cuisine was given a modern, fresh twist. The wine pairing was also a surprising choice, featuring original small producers. The owner was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. We had a wonderful evening outside on the sidewalk.

Food was delicious again, it remains a bit of an uncomfortable restaurant. The 2 owners do not have Italian flair but are more the type of stiff Groningers. That makes the experience a bit so so. But the lady in the kitchen can cook that is beyond doubt.

Tremendous food and amazing experience. Server was incredibly thorough and knowledgeable in their craft and the good was both creative and delicious. Highly recommend the wine paring along with the courses for an immersive dining experience.

Un restaurante muy pequeño y acogedor con unas 10 mesas, donde la comida era fabulosa al igual que el servicio. Un menú de chef de 3 a 5 servicios donde la pasión y la ejecución es el objetivo! Bien ejecutado y entregado! Una Gema. Hasta que aparezca una pareja con un perro de 40 kg. . Estamos hablando de un perro GRANDE aquí! ¡Prácticamente lo mataste por nosotros! Con la mayoría de los clientes obviamente no se sienten cómodos con la presencia de perros. El lugar es muy pequeño .. la relación de volumen del animal es sustancial! Finalmente tumbado en la puerta del WC obstruyendo el acceso. Todo el tiempo que estuvimos allí, nadie fue... No tengo suerte, supongo. ¡La gerencia podría haber manejado mejor! ¿He mencionado, que fue por el pan en la mesa de al lado! LOL Lo siento, pero no conseguir 5 estrellas esa noche!

Wonderful little restaurant, cozy atmosphere, beautiful dishes with the right amount of flavor, deliciousy rich red wines and so much more. We had a wonderful date night, would highly recommend.

Had a truly spectacular dinner here. Went with the five course surprise tasting menu which was simply stunning. The stand out dish was the tagliatelle pasta which had a beautiful Bolognese sauce as well as a contrasting carrot puree and a parmesan crisp. This is a real 'wow' venue, the culinary construction of the various taste profiles of the dishes I had were so well considered and balanced, beautiful sublime. Can't recommend highly enough. Will visit next time I am in Amsterdam for sure.

Delicious food and good service!

On Sunday afternoon, I was walking around in the southwest district of Amsterdam, which is less touristy. After drinking a cup of refreshing mint tea, I was curious about what other special shops there were in this district, so I saw this small blackboard. The first victim of war is the truth, please peace, the sign says. I couldn't help but look up into the restaurant, and I happened to meet his eyes. I saw a waiter who was setting tableware. I nodded slightly in greeting, and he responded with a shy smile. I went back to the hotel and checked out the restaurant. It turned out that it was selling Italian food. The person who nodded to me was an Italian sommelier who had lived in Asia. Okay, that’s what I’ll have for dinner, and I made a reservation right away. It's better to choose a restaurant than to choose one. This dinner really didn't cut corners. Dinner only offers the chef's special selection. Guests have three, four, or five options to choose from. Usually when you eat the tasting menu, which is the chef's speciality, you always want to eat too much, so naturally you choose five dishes, two appetizers, two main dishes, and one dessert. I thought that the portions of each dish were small, but I already knew my mistake when the appetizer was served. Each dish is a normal portion, and the accompanying wine is a large glass. Even the desserts are served without ceremony and generousness. But strangely enough, the dishes are served at an appropriate speed, just when you feel that you are full. After waiting for a while, you will be accompanied by a competent red wine. The next dish is fragrant on the table, and it seems that there is room for preparation.

Excellent experience at Osteria Moderna. The food was delicious and beautiful prepared and served. We had the one 3 course meal and one 4 course meal and shared. Loved the food and the atmosphere. This is a special place. Highly recommended.

We chose the 4 course menu and what a great choice it was! Every dish was delicious and perfectly balanced. We were even called in advance by the owner to check whether we had any dietary requirements or allergies—you don't often see such a personal service. Definitely recommended for a fantastic culinary experience!

Hidden in the Helmersbuurt of Amsterdam, you'll discover the culinary treasure Osteria Moderna. From the outside, it looks like many other restaurants... but once inside and after your first bite, you're hooked! My wife and I had a fantastic 4-course surprise dinner, everything freshly made from natural ingredients, and you can taste it! What a creative mind the chef has! A stuffed pasta garnished with hazelnut and ground coffee (what culinary creativity, it delighted our taste buds). The waiter is knowledgeable and has a selection of beautiful local Italian wines. In short, the taste of the food and wines was amazing; even last summer in Italy, I didn't eat this well! We will be coming back, that is for sure!!

I just had dinner yesterday at this beautiful place, and it was marvellous from the food to the service and wine, I thanked the chef personally because she knows exactly what she is doing, I enjoyed every bite, keep it going.

I took a 4 course menu and every each one was amazing. The interior very cozy a great place to visit.

Overpriced food, terrible service and very poor customer experience overall. Food portions were extremely modest, even for a tasting menu, and the owner who was waiting the table was never attentive to any of our needs. Very poor communication and made us feel unwelcome. He topped it off with charging 20 euros extra deposit for one person that could not make it, despite a bill of over 450 euros, and despite us telling him well on time. Will not be going back.

Osteria Moderna is a cozy little restaurant with only about 5 tables making it essential to book. The owner will call a couple of days ahead of the reservation to check on allergies and diet restrictions as they have a set menu per evening cooked in their tiny kitchen by just one chef. The meals that come out are just remarkable. Great place to go for a relaxing dinner. We went with my child (3yrs) and they created a simple pasta for him as well. I would highly recommend this restaurant

This place offers chef's dinner of 3/4/5 courses and wine pairing. We tried 3 courses, good was great, not heavy, tasty. Meat with side potato and cheese pie was delicious. And want to recognize God wine selection by bottle. Wines are mainly Italians, well, what world you expect in Italian place 😉 in the range of 35-45 eur you can find good wines. Place is not big bit cozy, by end of the evening it gets a bit too noisy, so I'd say it's a place for dinner with family and friends. Though outside area is nice and romantic. Service was great, and dishes went pretty fast. All in all I enjoyed the experience.

Op een rustige plek gelegen in het midden van Amsterdam, net achter het drukke Leidseplein ligt dit knusse, sfeervolle Italiaanse restaurant. Het straalt een warm welkom uit door de kleuren en kunst die zijn gebruikt. Het heeft een half open keuken, waardoor je in direct contact bent met de Chef. Wij kozen een degustatie menu wat betekent dat we een grote diversiteit aan kleine gerechten kregen binnen de 3 gangen waar wij voor hadden gekozen. Het leverde verbazingwekkende grote smaaksensaties op.

Love, absolutely! It's a small Italian restaurant run by Georgia & Michele with delicious Italian fare. Though they offer a la carte dining, the set menus (3/4/5 courses) make for a great dining experience. Wine pairings are optional. I recommend reservations, and when doing so, expect a call the day of to confirm your reservation and have Michele enquire about dietary restrictions. We opted for the 4-courses and enjoyed a delicious tartare with basil & tomato, followed by a pasta stuffed with cod and mashed potatoes (don't recall whether it was agnolotti or pansotti), chicken rollade with stuffed anchovies salad, and a dessert of two mousses (pear & chocolate + gorgonzola) to finish of. We did enjoy a great evening here and the food was exquisite.

Had a delicious meal at this restaurant. We ate the three-course menu with wine and were surprised. We received 2 delicious Sicilian wines. As a starter tartare with burrata. Very tasty and refined. The main course was chicken with a delicious filling of raisins and anchovies, a puree with radish (I think) and breaded fennel. To finish off, we enjoyed a chocolate lava cake, with many goodies of which I have forgotten the name. Michele is a relaxed host and has selected excellent wines. Georgia cooks delicious and honest. The closing limoncello was also nice. A beautiful Italian evening.

Walking back to our hotel from the Anne Frank museum, we found this local restaurant. It was excellent! No menu, just a choice of their 3, 4 or 5 course meal. We were not disappointed. Delicious. Picked a Sardinia beer and sparkling wine to go with the dinner. Add this one to your list!!

One of the best restaurants in Amsterdam. Refined Italian cuisine and wine.

If you have any food allergies, I do not recommend this place. I visited this restaurant with my colleagues and 2 of us have food allergies (gluten and nut allergies). The restaurant manager confirmed that it is not a problem they can serve us food without gluten and / or nuts. We have ordered the 5 course menu and unfortunately, the restaurant disregarded our allergy requests. They served me the cheese plate with a non-gluten free biscuit and served the dessert with chestnut ice-cream for my colleague who has nut allergy. :(

My girlfriend and I went there for a cozy dinner and… what a nice surprise! We went for the 5 courses with half-glasses wine pairing (two wines). I can’t say much about the menu because it’s “surprise menu” and don’t intend to spoiler. Honestly, it’s true that prices are on the high end and it’s the transparent reflection of what you eat. Truly deserved. Very kind personnel, cozy and intimate atmosphere, ideal for a romantic date. Highly recommended.

Wonderful ! Not your regular Italian restaurant. No red sauce or spaghetti. We had the 5 course, each one was full of flavor and beautifully presented and explained. The chef is wonderful. The only way that I can explain it is fine Italian dining.

Authentic, Italian food and wine, served with friendliness in a cozy atmosphere. I went with my partner and enjoyed the 4-course meal along with the 3-glass wine pairing. In order, the courses were: - Deconstructed/upside-down bruschetta - Beet risotto with pecans and a gorgonzola sauce - Steak with truffle and foie gras with a red wine reduction sauce - Dessert of home made hazelnut gelato with meringue crumbs and coffee mousse It was a great reminder that Italian food isn't just pasta and pizza, and the wine pairing was truly excellent with an explanation about where the grapes are from, and where some ingredients were sourced. Will definitely return, especially since I live in the neighbourhood.

This little restaurant is a gem in a central area of Amsterdam: it is very authentic but it offers a creative approach to Italian cuisine. Great food tastings and great wine pairings. Já comi em muitos restaurantes italianos, inclusive na Itália. Esse foi um dos top 5. O jantar era um menu de 3 pratos selecionados pela chef. Tudo maravilhoso, mas destaco que a sobremesa me trouxe percepções sensoriais maravilhosas e inesperadas. Super recomendo. Brava!

It's a really chill place with good food, I highly recommend it! Our group had the 3-course & 4-course meals, and I had it with 3 glasses of wine pairing. Everything was a pleasant surprise because there's no food menu! Bonus point: They're dog-friendly!

Echt geweldige parel van oud-west! Geen ingewikkelde menu’s, gewoon doorgeven wat je niet wil eten en de fantastische Italiaanse kok in de keuken laat haar kookkunsten zien. Je kunt kiezen tussen 3,4 en 5 gangen. Wij hadden 3 gangen (geen dessert) en een fles wijn en water voor 135, niet goedkoop maar zoooooo lekker! Aanrader! En…. Je wordt niet weggestuurd voor de volgende shift 😀

Found this restaurant on google maps under the previous name. The link directed me to a website where I was able to make a reservation for the same day and received a confirmation. When we arrived it turned out that we had no reservation on record as this was not the current site. Even though the restaurant is small and they prepare the daily menu based on the expected diners they accomodated us and we had the best dinning experience in Amsterdam. The freshly made ravioli filled with liquid parmesan (yes, clear liquid) was out of this world. The food was spectacular. We did the 4-course dinner with 3 wine pairings. The somelier explained every detail of each wine and the waitress did the same with every dish. They did not rush anything. I give them a perfect score if I don’t consider the reservation system issue.

We dropped by on the strength of other reviews and from the moment we walked in had a dining experience of delight. Sensitive commentary on the chef’s menu- carefully chosen and curated courses including squid, fillet steak followed by beetroot and chocolate desert. Very good value too.

We ordered a lunch menu of 3 dishes. It's blind selection when the chef composes the menu. It was outstanding. Wine was also fitted for each dish. It wasn't cheap, but we enjoyed every moment of it. Highly recommended.

We didn’t like the experience. Everything was quite average for a place that is not cheap. It took more than 1 hour between the starter and the main dish and a total of 4 hours to go through the 4 dishes of the “surprise menu” because there was only one person in the kitchen. Food was average overall, but the most disappointing dish was the main dish (beef with vegetables and anchovies sauce) - I’m pretty sure I can cook vegetables that are more tasty at home. Also, the place is famous for the pasta it seems, but our menu didn’t had any.

My previous visit was at la cucina di Georgia in 2017 so 5 years had passed. The quality of the dishes and service is still of the same high level. Simple Italian food, with few ingredients, but it's the combination that creates a fantastic experience. An authentic Italian Osteria with rockstar Georgia in the kitchen and Michele as a master sommelier and excellent host. Thank you for the great evening and hope to be back soon!

Prima restaurant, een echte Italiaan met echt authentiek Italiaans eten. Heerlijk van begin tot eind, met leuke verassende wijnen en daarbij de optie om een half glas wijn arrangement te nemen. Wel zo gezond ;-)

Really good restaurant, very reserved and Cosy. We went there and they have options for many courses of food. The menu is surprise and really nice!!
