Absolutely loved the vibe of this place! The waitress with the bleached eyebrows was an absolute gem and gave us outstanding service (wish I remembered her name!). The food was delicious, the cocktails were top notch, and the whole place felt super welcoming and LGBTQ+ friendly. I’m definitely recommending this spot!

One of the best queer bars in Amsterdam🌈🌤 changing menu that is always so good🤤 amazing staff 🤩😍🤩 Things to consider if you want to go there: 1. accessibility: the toilet is downstairs. There are a couple of stairs to the bar. 2. have a 5 euro bill with you for the photographer that usually stops by and let him make a memorable photo of you'll. 3. Don't come by if ✊🏼🇵🇸🍉 "offends" you because you will be confronted with posters, stickers, and occasionally kuffiyeh. (I see the (isra..🤫) names of some of the bad reviewers 😉)

Sat outside at first, very cute looking. Something went wrong with the reservation unfortunately but mistakes happen. The people sitting inside seemed to all be having fun, athmosphere was cute. But unfortunately I am a little disappointed, staff was rude lol. I work in service and I’ve neverrr interrupted a guest while speaking saying “so what are you asking of me???”. It’s not that hard to be accommodating, I was being nice. I expect some more from a place like this as an afro-Arab trying to find a community in this city 😍 The hibiscus drink was barely hibiscus, I think it could be a really nice drink if you boil the hibiscus with the water and add a bit more sugar, mint with it is also nice. Anyways the concept is cute and your kitchen works hard, all the love xx

Lovely and cozy place. Staff is very friendly and attentive. The menu was Egyptian cuisine catered by @sanaa_kitchen and it was absolutely delicious! Rich in flavor and beautifully presented. Every dish was a delight. I definitely recommend it.

Incredible bar with extremely relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. I love the lack of music - allows for organic conversation and flow with other guests and patrons of the bar. Great staff. They have a lot on tap from the local Oedipus brewery which is cute. Amstel vaasjes are cold, crisp and priced at €3.90 which is fair. Really recommend. Thank you to the Pamela team for always making my night special.

Great cocktails and very friendly personnel! I just have one tip — the venue is clearly into making political statements about social issues, but we noticed that while, on top of the queer element, there was an overwhelming amount of one-sided political stickers, window art, and posters on a particular issue, there was not a single thing to be seen to fight antisemitism, racial/religious bias/hate, etc. I can totally understand a queer establishment being covered in queer art, ads, etc., and I 100% believe in free speech and expression, but the blatant pointedness of the political elements honestly made me feel very uncomfortable as a (queer) Jew in a public space that is (I assume) meant to be open to all races, orientations, religions, and genders. This isn’t meant to be a sensoring comment: just a tip that if it is part of your brand to openly display opinions on political issues that are not directly related to the core of your establishment, be more inclusive and all-encompassing, and promote positivity and peace across all demographics without generalizing. (Also I would like to close by saying please do not assume my own political opinions based on this comment; this is simply a suggestion to consider the wider population of your clientele and make everyone feel welcome and comfortable, and promote a positive and peaceful environment for all.)

I adore Pamela, when I have visitors (especially my queer pals) or I am meeting up with friends, it is the place I propose first. Great bar, great vibes, great location.

Disappointing Experience – Lack of Inclusivity I recently visited Pamela in Amsterdam, hoping for a fun, inclusive atmosphere, but unfortunately, my experience was far from that. Despite the venue being almost empty, the staff insisted that the place was "packed," which felt dishonest and unwelcoming. What was even more disheartening was the overall lack of inclusivity. As a lesbian bar, you would expect a space that embraces diversity and openness, but I didn't feel that vibe at all. It was clear that they were not as welcoming as I had hoped, which was a major letdown. In a city as open-minded as Amsterdam, I expected more from a venue that is supposed to represent and support the LGBTQ+ community. Sadly, I wouldn’t recommend this spot to anyone looking for an inclusive and genuinely welcoming environment. Edit after Pamela’s answer: So a queer female couple is a threat for the safety of your queer space? Are you completely ridiculous? Femmininities of all kind should be the first to be celebrated at a “queer” place.

My friends and I had a very disappointing experience at Pamela. We were a group of four lesbians, excited to support a queer-friendly space, but were rudely turned away at the door. The person working there mockingly asked someone else inside, "Do we have space for four?" The reply came back, "No, we’re full"—despite the bar being practically empty. It felt like we weren’t "queer enough" for them, judged on some outdated, small-minded stereotype of how someone from the LGBTQIA+ community should look. This gatekeeping and attitude towards diversity within the community is not only hurtful but goes against the very values that queer spaces should stand for. It’s sad when the very spaces that are supposed to be inclusive and welcoming act more exclusive than mainstream places. If you’re looking for a welcoming, respectful environment, this isn’t it.

As tourists visiting the city, we were advised to go to the food court nearby, but it was very noisy, crowded, and overpriced. Fortunately, we stumbled upon Pamela, which was precisely the opposite. We were warmly welcomed and ate and drank extremely well. We particularly enjoyed the asparagus with pesto, burrata, and hazelnuts... delicious!

What poverty. What used to be a great queer space has become an arrogant shitty place. Where the service in its semi-berlin style doesn't look at you, orders are half taken and you are literally snubbed if you stand a little too far from your table. You feel more of a burden than a catering guest. It's a shame how a place that should be "safe" completely misses its mark due to a "too cool for school" attitude of staff that actually makes you feel unwelcome. Food and drinks were great and the staff were very friendly and attentive. As a gay couple we love to support queer spaces when we travel and we felt right at home here! We ordered the whole shebang and it did not disappoint. Thanks guys!

It's a shame, but I'll never come here again. Not everyone is welcome here; you are only welcome if the staff decides that you are welcome, and people are indeed put into boxes here. I often came here with my Queer friends, but when I sat in the bar without them I was called a racist from all sides. It was decided for me that I was not part of the community and what happened next is absurd. The reality is that as I share this story with people I know, I hear about many other disrespectful actions. I felt very unsafe in this place that was supposed to be a safe heaven.

Not sure how I felt about the lecture from one of the employees as we entered the door though "This is a queer safe space, if you don't like it there's the door 👋", felt a bit unwelcome. Maybe we (or I?) didn't look queer enough? Never had that happen before in queer spaces. Either way glad for this place to be there, they do seem to take making it a safe-space serious, but please don't assume someone might not be in the right place straight away! EDIT 06-2023: Updated my score, not sure if they still do the "there's the door" speech, but I don't feel like going back since EDIT 04-2024: I see the owner responded, with "Niet raar genoeg? Hmmz", but this is due to google translating the sentence "Didn't look queer enough" to "Er niet raar genoeg uit zien" for whatever reason. Disable translation to see the real review and not whatever translation garbage it comes up with :)

Went here a couple of times now. Simply an amazing place with amazing vibes and delicious food. It's incredibly refreshing to see a bar that's unapologetically queer and not afraid to show it. Great drinks as well, and great food. The staff is amazing, the cook made amazing It's hard, maybe even impossible to think of any critiques for this establishment. Just simply stunning!

A very comfortable place. The waiters are super attentive and friendly. Cocktails are successful. The only negative point was that the place was a little too noisy. Other than that, you can go "safely". I don't remember the name of the waitress who took care of us, but I never forgot her beautiful and characteristic face and friendly attitude! I come here very often and I am always happily surprised by the quality of the food and drinks! Their cocktails really are amazing! The door policy has always been very welcoming and clear, asking people politely about their understanding of the place and the safe space that they aim to safeguard. Because of this, it has always felt nice to celebrate a long night at pamelas

Usually a fair place. But be wary, compared to neighborhood bars, they are having fun with their prices. A small beer from Oedipus like the mannen liefde went from 4.50 precovid to 6 euros in 2023, that's a 33% increase (check the menu photos for confirmation).

• Good menu of drinks • It took a while to get service, we needed to find someone in the end. • The seating arrangement was nice, communal in a way. But it was way to warm inside. No proper airflow on a hot day.

Great spot for a few drinks for friends. Amazing people work here!! So helpful when you get your pants stuck in your bike chain outside the place and then come out to help you! 💙

One of my personal favourite spots for a casual drink that is delicious and some good tunes! I went there multiple times on Saturday nights and the dj set in the basement has never disappointed, although be ready to shed some layers as it can get very hot down there! The staff is very lovely and contributes to the overall safety and quality of the space as a queer environment.
