I came here excited for their gluten free pasta based on the reviews, and I had to leave because I was told NO cannot make gluten free pasta. What??

Wow! This place was perfect, so good that we came back for a second time on our last night in Amsterdam. The pasta was fantastic, great portions and very tasty. The focaccia and bruschetta starters were superb too. Our highlight was getting to see the handmade pasta being made right in front of our eyes. 100% recommend 👌

We went in thinking it was a pastry shop. We had a coffee and a pastry.

Mamma Mia!! What a delicious lunch. We had the Cacio Pepe, and a courgette tomato and olive tagliatelle. Both freshly made pasta in front of you and amazingly tasty. Then we topped it off with a ricotta and chocolate torta, fresh cream and I think a frangipani and this was to die for, best dessert I've ever had. I would possibly go here just for the cake! The restaurant is small and funky, the server was a blonde lady who was fantastic and attentive, the chef really knows his food and curated a fantastic menu but I did here him snap at a customer which made a bit of an awkward atmosphere, but it didn't understate our experience. Would definitely go again.

When your daughter is watching the chef make the pasta behind your table, you know you're at a great spot. What a quaint, authentic, and charming spot in the heart of Amsterdam. Run, dont walk (but make sure to look both ways before getting hit by a bike)

I loved the food. Until I found a strand of hair. And the chef started going that it's not his. It's an open area where people are able to be near where the fresh pasta is made (next to the cashier area too) so there's many potential sources, but definitely a major let down he *only* went down the defensive route "it's definitely not mine". It is still your shop. I was halfway through my meal and it was stuck to the sauce. So what does saying it isn't yours do? It's reality that there's hair from an unknown source in the food. The server was lovely though. I don't really know how to rate because it would be unfair to give her a single star. It was clear she didn't know what to do because the chef was hostile. She did offer to change my plate but I declined - you don't know what you would get with an upset chef :) He did say he would also give a discount but did not. It's fine, the food is worth the amount. And then, ended off with "it's not my fault" 😂 I was going to do 4 stars cause the food is really good but when I heard that... 😂😂😂 So 5/5 food. 5/5 server. 0/5 responsibility. Edit: the negative would be the way the situation is handled. Food is great! but why would the discount come only with me spending more money at the place...? 😅 make it make sense. Once again, I don't need a discount. Just mentioning it because he said it. You all can read this whole thread and make the decision on your own :) Going down to 1 star from my initial 3. Food and server would have really deserve a 5, but it's unfortunate that the entire experience was marred by this unpleasant exchange. This place doesn’t take reservations, so it can get packed quickly, but it’s 100% worth the wait! If you’re in the area, definitely come here. The pasta is so authentic and delicious—it honestly felt like I was back in Italy. And if you’re a gluten-free , you’re in luck! They can make any of their dishes with gluten-free pasta, and their gluten-free pasta was SO good. I also got the torta caprese, a gluten-free dessert, and it was honestly one of the best desserts I’ve ever had. One of the best meals I’ve had in a long time. Definitely don’t skip this place!

The food is excellent, we loved the cache pepe, with home made pasta. The access to the toilette is horrible and very dangerous.

You could pass this little Amsterdam gem by without noticing. Don't. Not in the least glamorous but four tables outside on the pavement close to the canal and pasta to die for. You have to be patient at times because the pasta is made fresh as you wait. It's worth taking the time.

The perfect place for a coffee date with friends or a romantic dinner! I had a plum crostata which was warm and clearly freshly made (delicious!!) and a latte. A very cosy atmosphere and friendly and attentive staff.

All I can say is yum! The freshest pasta I have ever had in my entire life as you watch the man make it in front of you. It's absolutely delicious! I highly recommend. The waitress was very pleasant and friendly. Can't wait to come back!

We loved the freshly cut pasta and the meals tasted like we were dining in Italy. After the meal we were kinda full but we still decided to order dessert and that was a great choice because it tasted very good. We also liked the nice personel and great service. In my mind the whole restaurant brought me back to my vacation in Rome earlier this year. We will remember this place for when we come back to Amsterdam!

We’ve been coming to Quattro Gatti for years, and it’s hands-down the best pasta in Amsterdam…honestly better than pasta I’ve had in Italy. Milos makes everything freshly handmade with the best ingredients, and you can taste that with every bite. You can also watch him in action in the open kitchen. It’s not just the pasta, the baked goods and desserts are absolutely divine. Even if you just want a cake and coffee, this is the place to go. What keeps us coming back is the whole experience: the staff is attentive and genuinely happy to chat, and Milos greets all the regulars personally. It makes the place feel warm and homey, like a second home rather than just another restaurant.

Best pasta I’ve ever had! For a moment, I forgot I was in Amsterdam and felt like I was in Florence, Italy. Every dish is made fresh to order, using incredibly high-quality ingredients, and you can truly taste the difference. The menu is small and precise. It is clear that every dish has been thoughtfully crafted. You can feel the chef’s passion and attention to detail in every bite. The rest of the team is just as wonderful. They’re genuinely welcoming and they add so much to the warm atmosphere.They deserve every single one of these five stars. Thank you for an incredible meal!

Quattro Gatti serves the best pasta we’ve ever had — and we got to watch it being made from our seats right by the kitchen! There’s something special about seeing the care that goes into your meal before it even hits the table. Portions are generous, and while the atmosphere is relaxed and unpretentious, the food is absolutely first class. Don’t let the casual vibe fool you — this place is a gem!

Friendly service and a pleasant atmosphere. The homemade fettuccine was tasty and clearly freshly prepared. However, the fettuccine all’amatriciana did not meet my expectations. In hindsight, I perhaps should have looked more closely at the ingredient description, but I was surprised by a number of choices that deviate considerably from a traditional amatriciana. For instance, the dish was served with fettuccine, parsley, and Parmesan cheese, whereas a classic amatriciana is made with a different type of pasta, no parsley, and with Pecorino Romano. Unfortunately, the guanciale also resembled very thinly sliced ​​pancetta: it lacked the right crispy texture and was quite mild in flavor. When I specifically asked why fettuccine was used for the amatriciana, I was told that this had to do with the thickness, consistency, and refinement of the sauce. I understand that from the perspective of Italian pasta cuisine, but a traditional amatriciana is normally served with bucatini, rigatoni, or spaghetti. The combination of fettuccine, parsley, and Parmesan made the dish feel to me more like a personal interpretation than a classic amatriciana. To be honest, I perhaps should have inquired further with the chef about this, but I didn't have the time or inclination to do so at that moment. For a restaurant with an Italian chef, I had expected more attention to authenticity and ingredients. When a dish deviates so clearly from a traditional amatriciana, in my opinion, there should be an exceptional taste experience to match. Unfortunately, that was lacking. All in all, not a bad meal and not a bad experience. The service was friendly and the fresh pasta itself was tasty. But given the price, I had expected a more authentic and flavorful dish. As a result, the price-quality ratio didn't feel quite balanced to me. If you are specifically looking for a traditional amatriciana, this is probably not the version you will get.

We ate here and the food was fantastic. You can experience the real taste of Italian food here and the portions are really big. The staff is so friendly and really do their best to make you feel at home. As Italians it makes us really proud to have our tradition honored with this much passion. The food was absolutely fantastic! The staff and chef were incredibly friendly; I felt genuinely welcomed. Although I accidentally ordered a Cornucopie instead of the cannoli I expected, everything was still wonderful—the cream wasn't too sweet, and it was packed with pistachios! The Carbonara di Lusso with truffle and Spaghettoni with Shrimps were both superb! The pasta was perfectly springy and fragrant. Thank you to the chef for insisting on cutting and cooking everything to order; I didn't give up on his choice. The perfectly balanced combination of ingredients, not too rich, allowed us to finish it in no time. The Spaghettoni's aroma, slight spiciness, and umami were also excellent! The coffee after the meal was a delightful treat!

The pastas were delicious; I tasted each one individually, and they all had different flavors. They were completely handmade, but I can't say the same for the desserts; they weren't as satisfying, but they're worth trying. The atmosphere is nice, it's a pleasant shop.

While searching for gluten free food in Amsterdam, we stumbled upon this lovely shop. The food and drinks were amazing with everything homemade even the gluten free pasta. Amazing, amazing food and would definitely recommend to anyone visiting!!

We randomly came across this place because the smells that wafted out of it was just divine. It's so easy to miss because of it's quaint size, but oh my gosh the fresh pasta so delicious. This was authentic italian pasta - fresh noodles and the sauce is simple! Not too heavy at all, which is exactly how it's done in Italy. Really really good food.

We ate here spontaneously yesterday and were absolutely delighted. The restaurant is quite small, but cozy. The service was good. The pasta is freshly prepared and the portions are generous. We had the Cacio e Pepe and a dish from the daily specials menu – both incredibly delicious. The latte macchiato and Americano were also excellent.

Homemade Pasta in the heart of Amsterdam. I had the ragù alla bolognese and it was amazing, the best I had in a long time, the fresh pasta with that very good cooked sauce was just so good. Maybe a little gem in Amsterdam. Also their deserts looked amazing, I was too full to try them, but maybe next time. (So good, that I forgot my umbrella there, haha)

We had Carbonara di Lusso and Pappardelle con Ragu di Salsiccia from the evening menu. We were more than thrilled.

Extremely good and sooo delicious! The best truffle carbonara I’ve ever had — incredibly creamy and full of flavor. The bruschetta with burrata was also an absolute dream. You can immediately tell that they use fresh ingredients and put a lot of love into every dish. The service was amazing as well — super friendly, attentive, and welcoming.

It is an amazing restaurant with delicious Italian food and a very friendly staff. The Chef prepares the fresh pasta in an open kitchen and my son was amazed and concentrated looking at the process. It is my second time in this restaurant and definitely we will come back another time.

Very authentic and fun watching the chef making it and serving it a few minutes later. Have already recommended this place to several others.

While searching for a place to have dinner, I stumbled upon this small but excellent restaurant and was lucky enough to get a table. The dishes "Tagliatelle al Ragù Bolognese" and "Tonnarelli Cacio e Pepe" were absolutely delicious. The "Ragù Bolognese," in particular, was the kind you rarely find served this way—not just a tomato sauce with meat, but a proper "ragù." The chocolate cake for dessert was also very tasty. The service was superb, very attentive, and very friendly. It was also quite impressive how the waitress switched seamlessly between fluent German, English, and Italian. Highly recommended for anyone who loves pasta, but especially for those who appreciate skilled craftsmanship and excellent taste in both pasta and sauces.

Sweet, authentic little Italian restaurant. They serve all homemade dishes and products. You can taste that it is made with love. I had a balletti pistachios with chocolate mousse.

We have randomly noticed the restaurant across the street and decided to come back. It happened to be a great idea because the restaurant is absolutely amazing. From the interior design of the restaurant, to paintings that were done by the chef himself, to the meals themselves you can notice a similar pattern. All of the tiny details were personally designed by the Italian chef and he doesn't compromise on anything. It is all done in the way he designed it to be, all the way down to the absolute minute detail and you love to see it. Let's start with the dishes. Absolute ten out of ten. Lemonade and ice tea are flavourful and very strong. The pasta... Oh my god. THE best pasta I've ever had in a restaurant outside of Italy. They home made it and cut it after ordering. Even without the sauce the pasta itself is second to none. I think it's safe to say that if you were in Italy you couldn't expect anything better. The sauce is wonderful and makes every dish so special. Moving on to the deserts, they are plenty to chose from and they taste amazing. Tase is strong and rich. Their pastries is out of this world. The daily meune changes often and there are plenty of meals to chose from. The prices are really justified and appropriate given the location of the restaurant and the large amount of food which the portions contain. Furthermore, there is full price transparency, so you won't find yourself paying extra fees for tap water etc. The waiters are very polite. The restaurant has been opened for 20 years, and I hope it stays in bussines for many more. I will definitely recommend this place to my friends and come back myself. Wonderful experience.
