What a great restaurant! The flavors are pure and authentic – every bite feels like a taste of Thailand. The curry was perfectly balanced, spicy but not too heavy, and the fresh ingredients really stood out. The staff is friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere is cozy. Absolutely recommended for anyone who loves authentic Thai cuisine!

Rakang and Rakang To Go is one of my favorite restaurants in Amsterdam. The food is always delicious, and everyone is super friendly and kind :) I was lucky to find the place!

Excellent food, we booked with only a few hours' notice and had no problems. A nice change from the usual potatoes.

Despite the service was incredibly nice, all the items on the menu labelled as “vegetarian” were not vegetarian at all. They use a fish sauce in every meal and therefore it’s impossible to eat there as vegetarian and vegan, despite the menu reports the label

Food was one of the best Thai I had in Amsterdam, but unfortunately if you have allergies or food restrictions, it is quite hard to discuss easily with the staff. We had some communication issue but the food paid it back :) - for a proper meal you are gonna spend more than 30€

What a wonderful and lovely restaurant! The staff is so friendly and welcoming. It's been a long time since I felt so comfortable and welcome. The food was delicious; I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I went there twice in 5 days because they have great food, its a shame though because their waiter and manager are unprofessional. I have a medical condition with my ear and on our first visit i got super dizzy because the tables are on a floor with a steep slope, we changed our tables and got seated at a table by the kitchen which is was on a flat floor. So next time we booked and i asked to have the same table, we went there and found our table reserved for us and the waiter asked us to park the stroller and be seated at the same table. By the time we parked the stroller and took out the kids, a rude waiter gave the table to someone else, and when i told him i have a medical condition and i want the table wr were told is reserved for us or we’ll have to leave he told me “LEAVE”. I asked for the manager who told me am sorry but i can’t help you, so we just had to leave in the middle of the night with hungry children!!! I have never seen a worse customer experience!

The food was super tasty, fresh, and full of flavor. Service was fast, friendly, and we didn’t have to wait long at all. Really impressed with both the quality and speed. Definitely recommend and would love to come back!

One of the best meals ever!! From the maitais to the food, everything was perfect

My first experience to to eat Thai foods is one of my order “Papaya salad with shrimp” the chief for put lemon and even I asked to add lemon the flavor is not taste as real authentic taste. Somehow, the chef comes to apologize and ask to remake it again but I say no because I don’t have enough time to wait. However, for the service is very good and friendly.

It was a rainy day, and after a period of continuous cold wind, it was great to have a hot rice with their beef here. Everything was good and everything was delicious.

A truly fantastic Thai restaurant with a lovely terrace on the Elandsgracht canal, bathed in the evening sun, while watching all the people and tourists stroll by. My wife and I were lucky; even at 5:30 a.m., we managed to snag a free table outside without a reservation. The staff was very attentive; a dropped fork was quickly replaced with a clean one. We started with two delicious Tom Kha Kai/Jae soups (around 10 euros each), the signature one with lemongrass, and quite filling. Just be careful not to accidentally swallow the lemongrass sticks. The main course was jasmine rice, each with a different sauce. It seemed a bit small, but it was definitely enough and exceptionally delicious. I'll definitely be back for it the next time I stroll along the Elandsgracht canal.

Forget all the bad reviews you have seen here… Late Sunday me and my friends looking for a place to eat, they were closing the terrace and we turned around thinking they were closed as one beautiful smile wave to us and brought us in which I will be forever thankful. What a great place!!! Super friendly and warm service and the food is literally one of the best I had in Amsterdam. Fresh ingredients, super balanced flavours and down to earth (no BS). Will definitely be a regular there now and I’m super sad that I didn’t get to find this place sooner. khàawp khun khráp

My favorite Thai restaurant in Amsterdam! I have tried alot of Thai restaurants in Amsterdam, but this my all time favorite. Staff is very very very friendly, but the food is all on point! Every dish is always perfect, each time I go there there is never a flaw in the dishes. I never get bored of going to Rakang!

Unfortunately I was racially profiled and told I smell. Didn't get to try the food by the asian waitress with short hair. The most offensive thing I have been through in Amsterdam! Disappointing indeed.

When we travel through Europe, we usually avoid cuisine we can get back home—but after a long walk through Amsterdam on our first day, we were starving. We stumbled upon this small, charming Thai restaurant, and it did not disappoint. The food was incredibly flavorful and tasted truly authentic, and the service was fast and friendly. Honestly, it was some of the best Thai food we’ve ever had!

Rakang Thai is a beautiful restaurant with delicious food and fantastic drinks! I ordered the chicken pad Thai, and it was absolutely amazing—full of flavor and perfectly balanced. The star of the night was the Mai Tai; it was so good, I could drink it every day! Highly recommend for an authentic and delightful Thai dining experience.

I used AI (again) to find a Thai restaurant where they are not adapting the spices to tourist standards. And I got what I wanted: Rakang is located in the Jordaan in a nice street where previously there was a canal. Shops and restaurants at both sides of the street. Nice weather, so I got a seat half on the resto, half on the terrace, cosy. I indulged and had a starter, chicken with peanut sauce, followed by a Tom Yung Kung soup - and that one was really spicy, burned my mouth but it was also tasty. As main course I had the chicken with red curry and at first sight I was afraid it would equal the soup in spicyness but luckily, less hot but still spicy. All courses were very good quality, I would not know what to complain about. And, the service was very friendly! Arrive early or make a reservation, this place is busy! Recommended!

Ordered via uber eats based on the good reviews, but I’m very disappointed. Chicken sate was very dry and blend. The same for the beef dish Neua Krapaw which was very salty and tough to chew. As if both dishes had been heated before.

Had a great meal here. A super good Thai with a wide range of typical Thai dishes. A wide selection of both winged (chicken and duck) and fish and beef. It could have been a bit spicier for us (as we are used to from Thai cuisine). The prices are a bit on the high side. Furthermore, we had a wonderful evening, sitting on the lovely terrace. Recommended!

Had pad Thai and red Thai curry. Excellent. Water was $5! Ridiculous! That was the only downfall. No one else charged us fr water on our trip to Amsterdam.

Very nice Thai restaurant . I loved the food and the friendly staff . We shared a very nice mix platter, then we took 2 very delicious Tom kha kai soups and we ended with a nice dessert . Definetely I can recommend this place !

Such rude and mean waitresses, they basically kicked us out of the restaurant and yelled at us that there is no drink without ordering food. If you hate people that much find another job man!

What a wonderfully relaxed, casual Thai spot in a nice, cozy street. The food was delicious, and yay, being able to dine outside in the sunshine in mid-April is a treat. Service was super attentive, cooperative and simply pleasant. Highly recommended, especially the terrace👌🏽

Reserved a table, came all the way from Brabant to eat here and we were 15 minutes late due to parking problems. Then the service is rejected and the table is given away in front of us, really super arrogant... very unfortunate. Apparently a place for only people who live around the corner.

Nice little Thai restaurant in the Jordaan. The service is very friendly and very attentive. A table without reservation. Starter to share was fine and varied, the Tom Kha Kai was fantastic. This famous soup is not necessarily tasty everywhere, it takes a lot of experience to get this soup perfect. This was so delicious that I even wanted to order a second cup, but I had already ordered a main course. Tender beef in a delicious mild spicy sauce. Delicious food and the price/quality ratio is excellent.

My place to go when I have friends or family visiting. The food is delicious, the atmosphere is great, very cozy and the staff is very friendly. I simply love this restaurant.

Terrible food- we had the vegetable pad thai and crispy chicken in sweet and sour sauce. The chicken was neither crispy but dry, and the sauce tasted like ketchup. The pad thai was presented beautifully, yet lacked in flavor and vegetables. The pad thai also had potato in it- which was slightly off-putting. The actual restaurant is pretty but very crowded, and the service was very friendly.

i love this restaurant, it’s really small but it’s cute! i definitely recommend unless your allergic to nuts because that’s a lot of pad thai dishes! the staff are really friendly but the service is a bit slow since it’s so packed!! there is also some nice art on their walls.

We ordered mix starters , very good , chicken green curry & stir fry beef very good. Great food , not spicy but we asked for more spicy and we got it , we asked for extra chili and we got it , we asked for minced garlic and we got it. Great service and great Thai. Rude waiter, charged us for tap water and the takeout container, very bad service

We had a delicious and tasty meal here. As an appetizer we had the spring rolls. All flavors really came to the fore. And our main course was with chicken and some beef. We had not made a reservation. But they still had a small spot by the window. Where we had a nice heater at our feet. They also often came to ask if everything was okay. Very sweet

Un pequeño lugar acogedor con un personal encantador y atento y deliciosa comida. Recomiendo encarecidamente el sampler de aperitivos con los sabores favoritos del personal. El curry Massaman con carne de res estaba delicioso. El postre de coco brûlée era maravilloso. Todo el menú se ve muy bien.
