Restaurant La Cantina in Burgwallen-Nieuwe Zijde

Good food but ordered dessert at about 10pm and they came back and told us they couldn’t do it as the chef had gone home and we had to leave as they were shutting up. All a bit weird on a Friday night in a capital city.

We made a reservation at Gio Cusina, but the table and behavior were so bad that we left, of course we didn't sit down and we accidentally went into La Cantina Rest. We were prejudiced, but it was great, everything was delicious, it was given 4.2, but I think it should have a score above 4.8, you should definitely try it.

Very good pizza and pasta inside the city center. Stuff was polite and fast. Definetly would recommend.

A truly delicious restaurant! We happened upon it by chance, and the food was a truly pleasant surprise. The fish soup, in particular, was amazing!

The meat lasagna was delicious! The mixed salad with chicken was so fresh! We came here twice and it was fantastic! We recommend it! Super nice place!

If you're in Amsterdam and want delicious Italian food, La Cantina is the place to be. The food is served quickly and tastes delicious. The Cantina pizza and Penne all'arrabiata pasta are highly recommended.

If you are looking for a place to eat with your kids this is not the place. I went in looking for comfort food as it was 12 degrees and raining outside. My baby is non walking age, so he was in his stroller. After one step in, a lady comes and tells me I can’t sit even tho she has plenty of empty tables. I asked why? She said she has no space for me and my baby. Not even “sorry”. So here I was, freezing, raining and hungry with a baby cuz of your kindness.

Disgusting!! The worst Italian restaurant we've ever been to. The food was of very poor quality. We ordered mushroom risotto and spaghetti carbonara, along with two glasses of white wine. We also had to buy water because they wouldn't serve us tap water. The risotto was flavorless. The pasta carbonara was awful and undercooked. The wine was watered down and bad. They discounted one of our dishes because they saw we couldn't even finish it, and it's not cheap. When we left the restaurant, I had a stomach ache and wanted to return it. I would never go back.

A really lovely place, cozy inside and outside on the terrace in a street near the church. The staff is super friendly and welcoming. The food is delicious, the pasta was also gluten-free, and my steak was cooked perfectly medium rare. I had a Pornstar Martini sorbet, which was also very tasty, and my mother had the Teramisu. I ended up ordering another Teramisu because it was the best I'd ever had, haha. Thanks and see you next time! Ginger and Mama Mia!

Topped with fresh basil and absolutely delicious. We ended with a chocolate cake that was rich but not too sweet, served with dark chocolate sauce and whipped cream on the side. 12/10 meal! Highly recommend—can’t wait to go again!

The only thing Italian about it is the name, nothing exceptional, but not even disgusting, however the price is high for what they offer, and they should explain to the waiters that paying a tip is absolutely not obligatory, especially if the service was nothing exceptional.

lovely pizza and friendly service! when we arrived, the restaurant was quite full, but there were still a couple of free spots. my boyfriend and i were just walking around amsterdam when we found this place by chance. che bella sorpresa! we went in february, it was cold outside, so only indoor seating was available. they offer different food options, but we went for the good old pizza, it was delicious! crispy crust, fresh ingredients, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. the staff was very kind and attentive. definitely worth a stop if you’re in the area!

We have been going to La Cantina for a number of years. We return multiple times during each of our Amsterdam visits. The service is friendly, fun and quick. Whether it’s pizza, pasta or dessert the food comes fast and is always delicious. We will definitely return next time we are in Amsterdam.

The restaurant is situated in a busy square and has a large outdoor seating area. We enjoyed the starters, which were fresh and simple Italian dishes. We felt the main courses were less successful. The calzone was good. Perhaps the pizzas are the dishes to select here.

The location is quiet in the center. The atmosphere is very good. But I'm not sure if the spaghetti was cooked properly.

Stopped here because we walked by and it smelled delicious. Ended up having a lovely dinner sitting outside in the shade of the nearby buildings. Each pizza is more than enough for one person, I recommend getting one to share

The waiter didn't want to give us any advice on the best pizza, and we understood when we received it. Everything was disgusting; he didn't want to get involved because he knew everything was bad. How can a restaurant be so highly rated? Do the Dutch have the palates of Dobermans?

We liked this place. The pizza was delicious, especially when they make their dough and pizza itself homemade, great pasta dishes, and comfortable seating indoors and outdoors. However, it somewhat expensive. The service was also mediocre, since a waiter told us that the pizza (picture below) was only for one person, even though it looked like and was able for 2 people to eat it. Overall, great pizza and pasta here too. Would recommend but I wished the service was better.

Friendly, polite and helpful staff. As an Italian, small precautions: I advise you not to put the balsamic vinegar on the mozzarella (at least ask if you want), not to put the garlic powder on the focaccia (or always ask before putting it if you want)

In short: A nice but expensive Italian restaurant. Positive: - a nice Italian waiter - Italian music was playing in the background. - The interior was decorated in a decent way. - They had good knives for pizza. You probably know the places where the pizza knives are so worn down, you have to get wrist surgery when done eating. It's not like this here. - The pizza is definitely good but not so superb that I would remember the place for longer. Negative: - It's very pricy, to the extent that this is a really crushing downside. This might be due to the costly location close to the center of Amsterdam but this doesn't make the pizza better. - There were only a few mushrooms on the pizza Funghi. In total: I'm tempted to give this place 4.5 stars but since this is not possible I have to go for either 4 or 5. Putting all the pieces of the puzzle together, tells me that a 4 is a bit closer to the truth than a 5. That's almost entirely due to the high prices and since value-for-money has to have an impact, my only possible choice is the 4 stars. I've simply eaten better pizza at a price of € 7.50 a piece. However, to set the record straight: You're not making a mistake when going here but you have to have deep pockets.

It was the first restaurant we visited as soon as we arrived in Amsterdam and it was wonderful. The treatment they gave us from the beginning was great because, despite arriving an hour before the reservation I made, they let us pass without problems. The food was delicious, we ordered two pizzas and we loved the flavor and quality of the dough, the truth is, the value for money was more than excellent. We will definitely return if we travel back. We came hungry, left very happy and would happily come back if we had the opportunity to visit Amsterdam again. First of all, looking at the menu and the visual image of the restaurant from the outside, everything made a solid impression. No, there were no special effects, no show, just self-confident, friendly and welcoming hospitality in the best sense and obviously passionate craftsmanship at completely reasonable prices, which were almost affordable given the central location in the middle of Amsterdam. Over the course of our stay, one positive impression followed another, absolutely unspectacular, but extremely convincing: It starts with the aesthetically beautiful guest room, but not overloaded with decorations, the simple friendliness of the smiling welcome, the natural willingness and ability to engage in a foreign language as a level of communication, the wine recommendations and the opportunity to try, no, not to order a bottle, but to order a glass, the practical support in sharing starters and desserts, the pleasantly present, but unobtrusive helpfulness, the reasonable speed of the service sequence. And then the food: Fried eggplants are not a culinary revolution, but they may or may not have a defined taste and drown in sauce. But they didn't, but were tender and soft, but with a noticeable consistency and their own taste harmoniously combined with their sauce. Spaghetti alla Carbonara and Ravioli Ricotta e Spinaci spoke of professionalism, skill and passion. They were beautiful to look at on the plates and tasted even better - and no one misses anything more complicated at this moment (at least we don't). And then there's a tiramisu, which, like all of its delicious previous speakers, knows what happens when a cook knows his or her craft, has the time, desire and good ingredients. We are very grateful.

An Italian restaurant that offers many typical dishes! We opted for small bruschettas as an aperitif, then salmon pasta and a pizza, everything was very good. The service was fast and the quality/price ratio was good! Small negative point on the presentation of the dishes, the pasta would be more appealing if it was presented in a deep plate for example 😉
