Restaurant Sequenza in Wijk 28 Centrum

Last night we celebrated our wedding anniversary in the restaurant with the children. The service is very good, attentive, hospitable. The food is excellent, good portions, served at a good pace, incl. excellent wine advice. In terms of location, Sequenza is a bit of an outlier, you don't just walk past by chance, like on the Denneweg. You consciously go here if you want to eat delicious food and be surrounded by service and dedication.

We were presented with a wonderful menu, including salmon trout, skate and lamb. What fantastic cooking! Refined, and taken care of down to the last detail. It was somewhat noticeable that there were two substitutes in the service. When choosing the wine, one table companion in particular was looked at, the expensive bottle of wine was served a bit warm, and with the cheeses it was said that it was three goat cheeses and two cow's milk - without further explanation. But they are forgiven, they were otherwise friendly and if you normally stand elsewhere, it is also understandable. The chairs are not super comfortable. But the reasonable bill more than made up for it and we will come back again!

Absolutely amazing experience. Really creative, interesting, delicious dishes accompanied by friendly, informative service.

Small and super cozy restaurant. We had the 6 course menu but with sweetbreads. Each course was a great combination of different flavors - sometimes a real taste explosion. Simply great. Service very customer-oriented but also not too formal. We had a great evening!

It is located on that part of the Spui where it is not yet rancid. In terms of approach and location, it deserves more, because the man cooking there, Thales Wolters, really deserves more attention. Born in Groningen who took over the restaurant. Beautiful dishes, well balanced, even better thought out. Super friendly and ask questions carefully about what fits and what doesn't. There are good restaurants in the capital that can improve on this!

We had a great meal (6 courses including sweetbreads, foie gras and duck) and the Sommelier also did his best by occasionally serving 2 choices. Everything tasty and good portions. Full evening programme.

Last Friday evening the three of us had dinner at Sequenza. Haute cuisine and lovely staff. The wine pairing with the various dishes (we had the bob version) is highly recommended.

What a beautiful hidden gem on the Spui. Before you know it you'll walk past it. Make sure you make a reservation because the restaurant is small and the quality of the dishes is sublime. 1 of my guests has a lactose and gluten allergy combined with the fact that he cannot tolerate shellfish. The menu was adjusted perfectly and he was also very satisfied. The restaurant really has a living room atmosphere, so don't expect everything to look slick, but the dishes and wines are excellent.

Total shocker. We had a very good time and were impressed by the quality of the menu and wine. We took the 6 course meal and every single dish was delicious. The attention to detail from the ingredients, to the presentation, wine recommendations and service were top notch! Some of the dishes were in 1 Michelin star territory and perfectly adequate for the season. The room the restaurant is in is nice and cozy and very well isolated for noise. We also received a great service throughout the night, a bit slower than expected for the Netherlands, but still very enjoyable and attentive to us

Price-quality ratio is not in balance. Entry resembled a popup restaurant (wooden chairs, peeling paint and broken toilet seat). Friendly staff but did not notice that we were sitting with empty glasses (8 tables max 16 people). Food was good but very spicy here and there. If you like that, that's fine. Overall a delicious meal, but the price tag was too high for the entire evening.

A wonderful culinary experience! Chef Thales explains his dishes with so much passion for flavors and products used that you will become enthusiastic! Moreover, allergies are handled respectfully and creatively, for which we thank you very much!! With the all-in formula, not only the appropriate good wines are taken into account, but also the aperitif and coffee! Talking about price-quality! More than highly recommended!

What an experience. Enjoyed delicious dishes and delicious wines for 5 hours. The food was worth more than in a star restaurant. Friendly staff . Delicious dishes can be reserved for a normal price. Definitely recommended. We will definitely come back.

Delicious food, what a great restaurant 👌👌

Nouvelle Cuisine, as I would describe it, is, ironically, new to me, although the concept is 40+ years old. And this is how a philistine such as myself would describe the food here. The food is minute in proportion, delivered over many courses with matched wines (should you choose them), but ultimately skillfully crafted and very delicious. The waiters are friendly and knowledgable and really add to the sense of the experience being special without being overly pretentious. The restaurant is small but I enjoyed my evening there and for the special occasion that it was, delivered superlatively. Thank you.

An intimate atmosphere is created in this centrally-located restaurant, and the hosts (especially Koen) are extremely welcoming and attentive. The food is excellent - well-cooked, not too heavy, with intense flavours and attention to detail. The wine pairings are also thoughtfully considered and well-explained, and served generously. You are taken with the wine flight on a voyage through a range of places and grape varieties, from Spain and Portugal to Japan. Some courses are especially memorable, including the amuse-bouches, which surprise and delight. We will definitely be back. So many thanks for making our evening special!

My main dish was customized as fish for my health issue and the restaurant was very considerate and thoughtful! An incredible experience for our group!

Sequenza = Haute Cuisine in 2024. Beautifully laid out plates full of flavour, such as the appetizer, a shooter glass with a strong mushroom broth (warm) with a spoon of lovage ice cream. To be enjoyed in one go. What a taste sensation that was. Delicious and surprising. This applies to everything that is on the table. If you think you know what you have ordered then your basic assumption of what it could be like will be more than surpassed in the taste of the dish. Easily in the top 3 in The Hague.

Beautiful restaurant with beautiful classics based on French cuisine. Nice accompanying wines and fantastic service.

Excellent food, service and cozy atmosphere. There were only 7 tables, with two additional tables that were not used to serve. The wines and food were excellent. The services were also good, with explanation of each dish. They were kind enough to replace pheasant with another dish, as I can't eat poultry.

We had a very lovely and delicious experience. The chef and service deserve all the praise. You should treat yourself. Bravo!.

We took the 6 courses all incl. And it was superb from the amuses, appetizer until dessert, and the wine. The fazant was the winner dish! Highly recommended!!!

I strongly recommend this restaurant! The food was amazing, starting with the appetisers. We had the 3 course surprise menu, with a delicious fish plate, a meat plate with a combination of different flavours and a sweet dessert to finish off. Besides, the waiter was very nice and the atmosphere was also quite agreeable.

Heerlijk gegeten. Verschillende amuses, 6 gangen met bijpassende wijnen. 2 chefs in een kleine keukentje die prachtige gerechten bereiden.

I really enjoyed my dinner here. Usually I like big portions, but this place is about small but very tasty items. We had a 4 course meal with paired wines. Starting with 3 little "things" filled with fish. These were really tasty. The Mackerel one was amazing. Paired with a rose wine Then we had tuna on Mellon which was good Then fish and mussels which was also really good. Paired with a white wine. Then beef 3 ways which was great paired with a full bodied red Then ending with a sweet treat and a desert wine. What I found a little odd is that we sat in the garden at the back, but above the resultant is a flat and the person living there had hung out thier washing which was a little odd. This said when it whent dark the tables were lit by candlelight and it was really nice and to be honest the washing didn't distract too much. Overall it was a really good meal, I really enjoyed it. Things to be aware of. 1. If you don't drink then I think you will miss out a bit on the experience. 2. If you don't like fish/shellfish then again I think you will miss out. 3. I can't comment on what the vegetarian options would be, may be they are great but I advise you to call and check first.

Sequenza is voor onze kleine familie al lang een verrukkelijke plaats om moois te vieren. Dat kan een verjaardag zijn, of zoals gisteren, een diploma-uitreiking....... Dat vieren is altoos een extra feest door de intieme rustige sfeer...(Geen muziek!!!) en het ronduit superieure eten. Wijnen die perfect passen bij de spannende en originele gerechten die vakkundig en met geestdrift worden toegelicht door de gastheer. De opvolgers van het fijne stel mannen die ons zo hechtten aan dit bijzondere plekje in Den Haag, zijn de "grote schoenen" die ze moesten vullen meer dan waardig gebleken. DANK voor volmaakte avond!!!

Gezellige sfeer en fantastisch eten.

Super avond gehad bij restaurant Sequenza. Heerlijke gerechten, die allemaal goed in balans zijn. Daarbij goede bijpassende wijnen. Goede service heel persoonlijk. Tijd tussen de gerechten is erg goed, de hele avond heerlijk getafeld. Komen graag weer terug!

Unscheinbares restaurant von außen, einfacher Style innen. Service sehr locker. Bei der Menüauswahl wird lediglich nach der Menge der Gänge und Unverträglichkeiten gefragt und ob Weinbegleitung oder nicht. Ansonsten lässt man sich überraschen, was durchaus gelungen ist.

Geweldig gegeten met zijn vijven. Gerechten en wijnen zijn perfect op elkaar afgestemd. Daarnaast een hele fijne sfeer en ook niet onbelangrijk: de akoestiek is erg goed. Wij komen zeker terug. Echt een aanrader!

Geweldige belevenis is dineren bij Sequenza. Dit onopvallend intiem huiskamerrestaurant aan het Spui verdient meer dan 5 sterren! Toen ik nog in Den Haag woonde kwam ik hier al en dat is inmiddels meer dan 20 jaar geleden. Dus het feit dat ze nog bestaan zegt genoeg. Het 5-gangen verrassingsmenu was met één woord geweldig te noemen! De tijden tussen de gangen door waren perfect getimed. Goede en vriendelijke gastheer. Mijn vriendin en ik hebben een top avond gehad.

In jaren hebben we niet zó fantastisch gegeten. Wat een prachtige samenstellingen van smaken. Rijk, rijk, rijk! Plus te gekke bijzondere wijnen. Ik zeg: als t even kan, DOEN! dr. Maarten Kansen en Marie-Marth

Jammer met de nieuwe eigenaar is de vertrouwde kwaliteit er op achteruit gegaan. De gerechten missen de finesse, de geselecteerde wijnen zijn niet afgestemd op het gerecht. We komen hier niet meer terug.
