The service was excellent, and the restaurant is really nice, but ultimately, you come for the food, and in my case, it wasn't good. I ordered a burger (perhaps not a good idea in a fish restaurant, but I think everything on the menu should be good). The meat was very dry and flavorless. There was hardly any sauce on the burger, and besides some lettuce and pickles, there wasn't much else on it. I had to wash down every bite with a beer 😅🫢. Such a shame!

I had two portions of kibbeling today. I've been coming to the island for many, many years, but I'd never had kibbeling here. I regret it now, because the kibbeling was so delicious and the containers were full. I've never had it this good on the island. From now on, they'll see me here for a portion of kibbeling. A cheerful singing man in the kitchen. Absolutely fantastic.

Very tasty food and good drinks, and the playground in the garden is perfect for the kids. The service was busy and not particularly attentive, but overall it was (once again) a great experience! We'll be back...

Very tasty fish dishes and friendly service!

We found the food and drinks to be way too expensive. We've never had such expensive Aperol anywhere, not even in the Randstad. The hamburger tasted mediocre and came without any toppings, cheese, pickles, or anything else. The fish and chips were very tasty, but along with the small portion of fries, they were also very expensive. The food arrived very (too) quickly.

If the breaded fried fish is still full of bones, something's wrong. And I don't mean one or two... all of them. The sea bass was also very bland; without the sauce, it would have had no flavor at all. On top of that, the menu said it was served with seafood. The only side dish was fries, cabbage, and baby asparagus. They seem to be having problems in the kitchen, too, because we waited a very long time for our food, and then only half a dish, the rest arrived 10 minutes later. €4 for a 0.2L ginger ale (lemonade) is also seriously overpriced. Oh yeah, and our table was extremely sticky. Edit: Reply to the owner: This will be the only reply I write, so I don't see any point in making personal contact. I'm not sure what these little green plants are called. My companion called it "baby asparagus," and I couldn't quite identify the accompanying herb. It could have been fennel, but the lemon sauce was more noticeable than the rest of the dish. We used Google Translate for the menu. There may have been a translation error with the sea bass, and it didn't say "seafood." However, my companion had ordered a brook trout, which was served breaded, as it should be. He had ordered it because the bones are already removed from fried fish. But they weren't. When both dishes were served, I received the sea bass without the fries, as they were given to my companion with the excuse that "there was a problem in the kitchen" and his dish and my fries would arrive later. I didn't have the desire or energy to make a scene there; we just wanted to finish our meals and go home.

It was nice to be recognized by the owner after not having been there for a few years. The food was delicious, with a wide selection, and the dessert was fantastic.

We ate here around 5:30 PM on Wednesday, August 6, 2025. What a relief this was, after having eaten at several restaurants on the island (Rixt, meh). Delicious food, excellent and attentive service, perfect value for money. We were warmly welcomed by the staff upon arrival (as is customary), and then served excellently. And everything was, without exception, delicious and well-prepared. We are quite critical, having a background in hospitality and service, but we found nothing to complain about here. Compliments to the staff in both the front desk and kitchen. And to the gentleman who greeted us and the young blonde woman who took the orders outside: you were attentive, friendly, and genuine. We would love to come back on our next visit to Ameland. We felt more than welcome.

Ate another fish platter, very good quality and taste. Portions are getting smaller and smaller, but not, or only slightly, more expensive. It's just the balancing act you probably have to strike. The service was, as always, very friendly and helpful.

We had the house-smoked salmon, oysters, shrimp croquettes, and prawns. Delicious bites, well-prepared. Highly recommended.

Amazing place for seafood, recommended!

The food truck at the Midsummer Festival was a real disappointment. The Pokébowls made you expect something fresh, but they weren't at all (they were pre-made and had been sitting around for a long time, probably made the day before). No sauce, no flavor. Definitely not recommended.

We had a wonderful meal in a lovely atmosphere. We were able to sit outside in the beautiful weather. The service was friendly and very smooth. They really nailed it. We had sea bass with fennel, lemon, and samphire, and extra-large prawns with garlic, pepper, and samphire, along with razor clams as a starter. Everything was equally delicious. Fantastic! And a nice, refreshing beer from the Amelander brewery.

After a wonderful mudflat hike, three friends and I spent the entire evening here enjoying fresh fish, delicious wine, and a great atmosphere! Highly recommended!

A must for every visit to Ameland. For us, it's always at the beginning and end. Very nice atmosphere, all very friendly service. The food is very good. However, the prices are a bit high. I think it's absolutely justified compared to other restaurants.

Seven of us had dinner there. All the starters and main courses were delicious. The mussels are especially recommended, as are the fish platter and the fried fish. Absolutely delicious.

Really great spot for a nice summer dinner. Ordered the fish plate and the flatiron steak, well cooked and very tasty 👌🏻 🥩🐟 lots of indoor and outdoor seating. There was a bbq party going on at the back which made for a lively atmosphere. Server forgot a bowl for bones but otherwise kind and good timing overall. Enjoyed our night ☀️

Today was our last evening on Ameland and we ordered food at 17:45 which we could pick up at 18:45. I ordered the kibbeling and the lekkerbek because I had heard good stories about it and I was really looking forward to it. My wife and son had fries and a frikandelletje. I wish I had ordered this too, because what a disappointment. Both the kibbeling and the lekkerbek were so greasy that I threw away more than half of both and ended up having a sandwich. The boys behind the fryer were shit before and after which I did not find very professional. Unfortunately I did not have time left because our son had to go to bed because otherwise I would have gone back with him and asked for my money back. Too bad! Update: called today by the owner. Politely apologized and offered to refund the amount and have now received it. the boy behind the counter in question had just failed his re-exam. All understanding then. Well resolved by the restaurant and next year we will come back to try it again!

A very nice and well-run restaurant. The service is experienced and very attentive, and the food is also beautifully presented. The sea bream was the best fish I've ever had. We would love to eat here again! One of the best restaurant visits we've ever had.

Enjoyed a fish dish, in itself a fine dish but ordered oysters separately. These should actually be included for the price. Service was a bit forced nice, the audience a bit whiny. Restaurant can't do much about it but it did cause some discomfort during dinner.

Excellent fish (and other dishes) restaurant on Ameland.

We spontaneously visited StrAnders in the evening and got a nice table by the window. Reservations are definitely recommended. The waiter said they're happy to make reservations all day. You can sit in the conservatory/terrace or inside. We started with bread with olive oil and butter. For the main course, we had the flat iron steak with fresh truffle and a goat cheese salad. Delicious cookies accompanied our espresso. The food here is upscale. And if you think it's just fish and oysters, you're wrong. We found some guests dressed too casually for the ambiance. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Unfortunately, our second drink order was forgotten due to the sudden rush. Nevertheless, a really good address on Ameland. We will definitely come back, this time with a reservation. The price-performance ratio is good.

We had a very good meal in the evening. Starter and main course! A bit expensive! What we didn't like...we were asked for the starter if we would like bread with it! We happily agreed, but we weren't aware that it would cost us almost 7 euros! It's probably a calculation, because it was asked at every table!

Nice restaurant and nice place but bad service. After waiting 1.5 hours for our food, 3/4 of the dishes were cold. Wine bottle without cooler on the table, lukewarm wine, why?

We ordered the fish flatter. Super deliciously prepared; various types of fish to taste and friendly service with an eye for a good customer experience.

Absolute recommendation! We were there with 15 people and had been given menu cards to pre-order the dishes the day before when we made the reservation. Everything worked out great, from the large to the smaller fish platter, to burgers and fried fish, everything came fresh and warm to the big table. What should be highlighted is the quality of the fish and the super friendly staff!!! Rarely have we eaten so well and been served so kindly and courteously, great restaurant! The waiters also had time for a group photo of our colorful group!

Last week we ate the fish platter together with the family (salmon, cod, brill, sole and shrimp) and was really surprised. We really enjoyed it and for the price of 26 p.p., not expensive. Thank you very much and we would love to come and eat with you again next year during the holidays

Not cheap but absolute top location for fish. Staff is very involved and driven in a good way. No wonder that the chef has been voted the best in Ameland. Also nice own cocktails

We ordered something from the take-away snack bar, which is also what the review refers to. We didn't visit the restaurant. We ate kibbeling, fries and a tasty menu. I was excited about the Kibbeling in advance, as we have always eaten it at the fishmonger in Nes. I was disappointed here, the pieces of fish were rather thin, but fried quite dark and therefore very dry. All the dishes were very carelessly prepared, yes, it's a snack, but it still looks a bit nice. The menu included a salad in a plastic cup, a lot of unnecessary garbage and then a salad that looked rotten, had brown spots and tasted of nothing. What was also rather unpleasant was that when you ordered it was on the counter empty cardboard packaging of frozen chicken nuggets, croquettes and all sorts of other things were piled up. Seemed very cheap and uninviting. Too bad!

Super delicious food. We had the fish platter for two people. The children Frikandel and Gambas. Everyone was very satisfied. The dessert was also very tasty. Very attentive service and nice ambience. We'll be back.

Cozy restaurant with good service

Rarely have I eaten such good fish. Everything freshly prepared and great service. Dogs are also allowed in the restaurant and there is a large outdoor playground for children.

Last week I enjoyed the delicious food, nice atmosphere and very attentive service 3 times. Definitely worth it.

Unfortunately I have to rate the service with 0 stars. Because we sat outside for 20 minutes and the lady didn't serve us. Although she was clearing two tables and saw us several times. Unfortunately I can't rate the food. We then got up and left. Too bad

Recommended for those who love fish! We had the Fish platter, and it was delicious. Delicious thick oysters with 3 sauces. Please note: they serve the fish with salsa verde, a delicious herb mixture including chervil from their own garden with roasted garlic. Enjoy 😊 We will definitely come back

Nice restaurant. But very expensive 😌 . We were 6 people with them. And we lost €70.

Very nice if you stay at the adjacent campsite where everything is quiet at 11:00 PM. But the staff of this restaurant continues to talk/shout and play music until after midnight. And yes it was hard! Normally we don't have any problems talking, but this was loud and people sang along with the music. You can simply listen to the conversations. I have two small children here, I can't get away to say anything about it and the phone wasn't answered...

Food was fair to fine. Kibbeling and fries is nothing special. Entrecote a bit tasteless. Mackerel salad recommended. Oysters and clams very tasty. Blonde beer from the local brewery was delicious! Very friendly and cordial service. Nice atmosphere. Very pricey.

Atmosphere is okay and the service was friendly. I do think that a fish restaurant should know how to cook mussels (they were undercooked). No apologies either, just 'I'll pass it on to the chef'. Furthermore, I think it is misleading to offer a 'large bottle' of mineral water on the menu for 6 (!) euros, if that is only 500ml. Conclusion: too expensive for what you get.
