A really nice and actually quite a beautiful beach bar. The setting, both inside and out, is very nicely done and very atmospheric. A wonderful feeling here, that of a real beach bar. Lovely and fun music in the background. With a nice beer and the view of the dunes, beach, and sea, you really feel like you're in your element here. A couple of beers and you've got a great moment during your holiday on Ameland. The staff working here are also very friendly and not at all reluctant to have a chat. It probably happened because it's still nice and quiet around 10 in the morning, but I was lucky in the end. Thanks for this great experience. On leaving, I walked along the beach towards Buren for a bit and, to my great surprise, saw a seal on the beach trying to find its way back over a distance of about 50 meters. That was truly amazing. What an experience at beach bar Sjoerd and the surrounding area 👌😍

Had a delicious lunch at Strandhuis Sjoerd! ☀️ A very nice, relaxed atmosphere and a lovely place to quietly enjoy a moment. It felt relaxed and welcoming right away. We really enjoyed sitting there and had a great time at lunch. When we are back on Ameland, we will definitely come back here again! 🌊❤️

A pleasant spot on the beach, close to the sea. Probably the most beautiful place on the island to have a drink on a sunny day. The crispy shrimp were tasty. Service was prompt, but not everyone was equally friendly.

During our stay on Ameland, we visited the Sjoerd beach pavilion several times and were delighted every single time. The location right on the beach is, of course, a highlight, but the pavilion itself is the icing on the cake. Modern, stylish, yet cozy – exactly what I imagine a truly beautiful beach pavilion to be. We were particularly impressed by the incredibly friendly and welcoming staff. You receive a warm welcome and immediately feel at home. For us, Sjoerd is definitely one of the most beautiful beach pavilions on Ameland. ❤️ The combination of a fantastic location, modern ambiance, and excellent service makes every visit truly special. We will definitely be back on our next Ameland vacation. Highly recommended!

Nice beach bar and quick service. But we spent 30 euros for two cups of mint tea (5.20 each!), one apple juice, and two slices of cake, one of which had whipped cream (a dollop of whipped cream for 1.30!). The slices of cake were also cut very thinly. We were really shocked by this. We even said to each other, "These are Bloemendaal prices." But back home, the response we got was: not even that. And honestly, the apple pie tasted like factory-made cake too. In such moments, we don't leave a tip, even though the staff did a fine job. And we certainly didn't go back. Quite a shame, actually. The feeling we were left with was: they must be able to make it with all those tourists, so they ask for it. So, a bit ripped off.

Nice place, had a great lunch for the four of us with ever-radiant service in a beautiful location. A nice start to our weekend on Ameland!

Very disappointing experience. We had to wait a very long time, and the price-performance ratio was terrible. The “meat platter” was mostly bread, and we were not even informed that extra bread would cost more. Very overpriced and definitely not worth it.

Unfortunately, a huge disappointment. We ordered a so-called "meat platter" for €30, which ultimately consisted mainly of bread, salami, and ham. While it tasted good, it was completely overpriced. Since there wasn't enough bread, we had to order more – an additional €7.60 – without being informed beforehand that this would cost extra. We also had to wait about 20 minutes for the extra bread. In our opinion, almost €40 for a bread platter with cold cuts is absolutely unjustified. The atmosphere was nice, but the value for money and the service were disappointing.

Not great. We walked out after we were denied a simple request on our order. It's very overpriced and the tea we got was lukewarm and didn't even want to seep. The staff was uninterested and unpolite. Don't recommend it. Go to the Strandhuys instead, they are cheaper, the food is Great there and the staff so friendly!!

Nice beach bar. After an evening bike ride, we wanted to have a drink here. But a fresh mint tea costs €5.20. So we left after the tea, otherwise we would have ordered more. Not again for us, in any case.

Eating there if you are gluten-free is terrible. We ordered gluten-free rolls with herb butter, thinking we were just getting a gluten-free baguette. We received two normal rolls that were dry and hard. You could almost smash a window with them. If you can eat normally, it is highly recommended; the croquette rolls were delicious. But for people with celiac disease, it is definitely not recommended!

This review refers only to the soft-serve ice cream, which completely melted within two minutes at 21 degrees Celsius. We've never experienced anything like this at higher temperatures. Unfortunately, I saw other children crying with their parents because their ice cream melted immediately. This is something that needs to be considered.

I received pleasant service, but I was shocked by the price of a soft serve ice cream... it starts at 3.15, which I think is very high and doesn't feel right. Suppose you want to buy an ice cream for your family, you'll be spending almost 13 euros for four people... ridiculous.

Although recommended as a breakfast spot opening at 10 am, there was nothing to get. The kitchen opens at 11 am for lunch, according to a grumpy waiter. We didn't wait for that after a cup of coffee.

I find it a shame that no nuts are served with the drinks. The prices for a selection of savory snacks are also very high: 17.50 for 10 bitterballen. The service is generally friendly, not all of it, but in the hospitality industry, a friendly face works wonders where many tourists come. So start the day with a smile, and you will notice it in the tips.

I ordered a chicken burger for 24 euros. It is without a doubt the most worthless chicken burger I have ever eaten for this astronomical amount. It is shameless how you can charge this much. Tip: have a drink here and don't eat here!

A beach bar just as you would expect. Food okay, but straight from the wholesaler onto the plate without much creativity. It is a shame, though, that the prices are so high that the hospitality industry is mainly for the elite. Actually unacceptable for a hospitality establishment like this, which has a monopoly position at this location. The staff were not very attentive this afternoon. The atmosphere they created is great, though.

We just had a drink there and enjoyed the view. Everything was very nicely done. A visit is worthwhile.

Beach bar on stilts, so no feet in the sand. Not very massive and friendly service. The food was fine, and the prices, driven by the location, were quite steep, especially for drinks. What was really a shame was that the menu on Google Maps did not match the actual menu.

Very mass-oriented. Impersonal. Indecisive staff. They let other guests cut in line; that does something to you as a guest when you politely ask for a table. Additionally, the menu gets boring quickly. Shady spots are scarce, so overall I find it mediocre.

The staff was good. We were served quickly. It was busy though, so we were lucky with the seating, but a lot of people couldn't get a spot. The food was good and I would definitely come back here. Oh yeah, the logo looks a bit like the Ajax logo!

I gave it another try during the rugby weekend. Unfortunately, it was hugely disappointing. The Warp arrived cold, and the plate and cutlery were dirty. Drinks arrived after a half-hour wait, and food after 45 minutes. I complained to the manager, who clearly wasn't interested. He just shrugged his shoulders; that was all I got. He clearly radiated no ambition whatsoever. He was on his way to retirement. The waitress did her very best to keep things pleasant.

3 coffees with apple pie 36 euros. I am happy to pay that.

Those wanting to eat on the beach in Ameland usually have limited options, especially in May/during the off-season. But that's not really a problem, as all the restaurants are fairly similar in price. That being said, you should expect to pay at least 30 to 50 euros per person. However, you can't really go wrong here. The staff is very young, friendly, attentive, and quick, the food arrives promptly, and it's really very good. At least our burgers and pizza were. All our special requests (different sauce, no tomatoes) were handled without any problems. However, I did find the portion of fries rather small. Regarding the drinks menu, I have to mention the lack of price transparency. For example, beer: there's no indication of the quantity. I ordered a Hertog Jan on tap. The menu only listed it as 3.70 euros. When ordering, I was asked whether I wanted a large or small one. I ordered a large, but it arrived in a 0.5-liter glass and cost over 7 euros. But, different strokes for different folks. Anyway, the food was good, the location was great, and the price/performance ratio was reasonable.

A nice beach bar in a fantastic location right on the beach. The view is really top-notch. The food was fine, although I had hoped for some extra service: I had asked for two slices of cucumber for my baby, but unfortunately, I didn't get them. Thanks for your response! I may not have been entirely clear: the staff member told me that you don't do this. ‘If we start doing that, there will be no end to it, ma'am.’ I even suggested paying for it, but that was absolutely not possible either.

Very unfriendly and incompetent staff. While changing my little daughter, she became very upset by the hand dryer. In my opinion, the room is not suitable for changing diapers at all. Small, in the ladies' restroom, and therefore in public. I asked at the bar if there was another spot. There was an upset girl with no clean diaper on. I was directed to the ladies' restroom, and when I explained why that wasn't working, I immediately received a sarcastic remark: "Well, we don't do that on tables here, you know." (I didn't ask for that either). They were uncooperative, and I eventually managed to get the key to the disabled toilet with great difficulty. Here, I had to continue changing her on the floor. None of this felt right, so I mentioned it to the same woman. And of course, they were only hearing this complaint for the first time now and subsequently got into an argument. She claimed she hadn't seen an upset girl who didn't have a clean diaper on yet. And after the words: "How unfortunate for you," she walked away. I really don't understand how you can treat people like that. And none of that when it comes to a little girl..

Very friendly service, tasty food but quite pricey (the fish was small and cost no less than 32 euros). The atmosphere is lovely, and if you eat a bit later, you get a beautiful sunset as a bonus.

My first impression of Ameland. Sjoerd, a nice place by the sea, what more could you want? We had a nice meal a few days ago. A beer, a bitterball. A tasty panini… Today, that €11.50 panini wasn't that good. Both were burnt, and we requested another one. Although the young man looked at the panini with a questioning expression before taking it back, he did come back to indicate that the new one was on its way. And it certainly was. Brought by the somewhat older man behind the counter. The bread wasn't burnt this time. Thank goodness. However, the filling—the cheese and ham—was cold. And that person must have known. Apparently, they can't make a simple panini. We just left most of it and left. We didn't feel like getting into any kind of argument. When paying, we did indicate that we weren't satisfied. We did receive an apology. I had the croquettes with white bread myself. The bread could have been a bit fresher. Anyway, put a croquette over it and you won't taste it anymore. I read various positive as well as negative things about Sjoerd. For me, it is equally negative. That is a shame. Fortunately, there are other options, such as De Boerderij in Hollum.

Our first dining experience in Ameland, afternoon snacks and Amelander beer! Food was standard but the ambience was just great, soft music in the background with a direct view to the beach and sea.

Great place for a drink after a bike ride. Aperol a bit watery, but friendly staff. Unfortunately, the mustard doesn't stick to the bitterball.

Lunch lasted an hour. The wraps were cold and the chicken pieces were nowhere to be found. We actually wanted to send it back, but by then we were so hungry that we just left it. Too little staff. The staff were friendly, though, but then having to pay €74 for 2 pizzas, 2 wraps, and 3 non-alcoholic drinks is bizarre.

Everything is perfectly fine. It is not without reason that Sjoerd is known as excellent on Ameland.

Too little staff, waited 45 minutes for a few wraps and 2 croquettes with bread. Wraps cold, though the croquettes were still warm. On the Tuesday after Easter, nice weather and therefore many German tourists, who have a longer holiday. They were not well prepared for this! I had expected a bit more, considering the awards they have won.

If you still don't have plant-based milk options as a beach bar in 2026, something is going wrong. For us, that is a reason not to come back.

Unfortunately, tourists are often ignored or not served for too long, unlike local visitors. The view is beautiful and the selection is great. I can't recommend the shrimp pizza, but I would recommend the prosciutto pizza; it was delicious.

It is wonderful to spend time at Sjoerd's. Whether it is in the morning after your first beach walk with a cup of coffee and a treat, or for a delicious dinner, you have come to the right place. Super friendly staff, nice atmosphere; in short, highly recommended.

Ordered a large beer and two times I needed to ask for more beer instead of foam. The beer level was way below the indicator mark. Then ordered two rum cola and what we received was two shots and a separate cola which we had to mix by ourselves.

Sjoerd's claims to be one of the best beach bars, although I personally have some reservations about that. It was quite noisy and restless, which detracted from the overall experience. The food wasn't great, but certainly not bad either—just fine. What definitely stood out was the service: very friendly and attentive. As a nice bonus, we even received a cup to search for shells, which was a charming touch and definitely a plus. All in all, we will definitely be back.
