The Harbour Ameland in Wijk 00

The place was nice and the interior too, but the service and the food, on the other hand... at a harbour club we certainly expected something with fish, but unfortunately the only fish they had was not fresh. The rest of the food was tasteless, very disappointing. The nachos seem like a pretty simple dish to make, but unfortunately they were burnt too. The price you pay isn't cheap either. We are fed up with our experience. We will definitely never come back here again. And we advise everyone against eating here. P.S. We are now feeling sick from the food.

It was a bit of a disappointing experience. The service was good. But the kitchen seemed to be run by an amateur. What we were served didn't resemble Mexican food in the slightest. I had beef fajitas. I got ground meat tacos. Everything was only moderately warm. With a slice of melted cheese on top. Admittedly, the fried ground meat was quite tasty. But beef fajitas are really a completely different product. Moreover, we were suddenly served an unordered glass of rosé. My wife was even worse off for her enchilada. Far too many spices. Turmeric and coriander powder. It is a lovely place to sit, the atmosphere is good, and the ambiance is relaxed. But the kitchen needs a major upgrade.

Way too many spices in the food. Doesn't taste Mexican anymore. The enchilada was not an enchilada but 2 hard, flat tacos with the vegetables in between.

You're forced to communicate with the staff in English instead of Dutch or German, and then instead of a coffee with a little milk, you get a cappuccino?? Food prices are okay, portions are rather small, €7 for 0.5l of mineral water is very steep, as is €5.90 for coffee.

Almost exclusively English-speaking staff. The apple pie felt like factory quality to me, and that for €6. The view is nice, though.

The ambiance is great. The place was empty when it should have been busy. We looked for a table inside and were ignored by the staff. It smelled unpleasant, so we sat outside and studied the menu. Prices were quite high, and you have to place orders via your phone. Well, it's spacious outside, and staff cost money. So far, so good. It also started to smell awful outside. We went to the restroom to wash our hands because we'd been at the beach. We couldn't find anything to wash our hands with or dry them with. We left. That was enough for us. There were maybe six guests in the restaurant. I think I know why now. And it used to be really great here, my wife says. What a shame.

The food and drinks are fine, the view and seating are nice. The staff could be a bit friendlier.

Had a very pleasant time sitting and enjoyed a delicious meal! The staff is also very friendly. There were quite a few whiny people sitting behind us, but we were able to laugh about it with everyone afterwards!

What a disgrace. We’ve been coming here for years, what happened? Pale slices of white bread (King Corn?) and for a tostada a wafer-thin sheet with homemade tuna salad from Albert Heijn... and all that for the same price as before when it was actually good.

What a shame. Terrible place in a beautiful location. The Dutch language is simply being ruined here! 1. It is quite pricey (you can get over that). But when you order (Dutch menu, yeah right) They only speak English there????? And when I wanted to pay, I asked if anyone spoke Dutch. Of all the staff, not a single one understands Dutch or tries their best. After I explained that my English is bad... and expressed my displeasure (because I wanted to pay), the manager became threateningly angry. Well, it has to get ridiculous that I have to speak English over a Dutch menu in my own backyard??? We aren't at KFC, are we? Next time I'd rather drink something from the Wadden Sea than sit there to eat or drink. It's a real shame because it is a nice location. Perhaps hire 1 or 2 Dutch-speaking people. Not everyone has a knack for English. I am in my own country, after all. So why? The cola was good, by the way, and someone else made the payment for me.

Dry fajitas and a soaking wet burger, not real value for money, fresh mint tea with one pathetic sprig of mint, but good service that is considerate regarding departure times. The only advantage is that you can leave on time for the boat.

Very poor service; I clearly indicated beforehand that I do not eat gluten. This was supposed to be passed on to the kitchen. I was told that I could only not eat the ‘buns’. Upon ordering, it turned out that much more of the menu contained gluten, leaving only a small selection. I ordered stuffed jalapeños, among other things. Upon receiving the order, this also turned out not to be gluten-free. When my husband mentioned this, he was met with a retort; we should have known ourselves that this contains gluten because they don't make it themselves and it has a coating of flour around it... according to the gentleman who had indicated that everything except the buns was gluten-free.

Great location in the Waddenhaven of Ameland. On my first visit, I had a delicious sangria. Today I ordered a Nobels Pink Gin and Tonic, unfortunately with lemon! ☹️ It just doesn't taste right! It should have either cranberries or pink grapefruit in it! What a shame! ☹️

We only had a drink there before we had to go to the boat. So I don't know what the food is like. The service is not quick and no one spoke Dutch. It does have a nice terrace with comfortable benches.

We wanted to have a drink before the boat departed. First of all, the wait staff spoke only English. NO Dutch, but also NO French. The drinks are insanely expensive... unbelievable. And then the music blasting from the speakers... you couldn't understand each other at all while trying to enjoy the mega-expensive drink... So, not accessible to normal people with a normal or thin wallet.

Such unfriendly waitresses that we just left. We sat down at a table with a reservation for another 2 hours, but we couldn't just have a drink, even though we indicated we would be leaving in 15 minutes. And we were very rudely asked by two employees to take a seat at the bar, where there were hardly any chairs.

We ate here as part of a deal from the hotel where we stayed. We found the food tasty, but nothing special. It's really for those who like a chilled atmosphere and street food, but not for a fancy dinner. The location, however, is beautiful.

I always come here when the weather is nice to play with the kids and mom on the terrace. There is a new young man working here who speaks English. I placed my order with him. Subsequently, I received an order that I did not order. And then to insist that I did, while he and the waitress who helped him sighed, groaned, and were angry at me. How unprofessional! I ordered a kids' menu with a frikandel and a separate croquette to divide between my two kids. I received three menus, Then there was a discussion about how I had to pay for everything and that a croquette on its own isn't allowed. Sorry, but this is going too far.

The restaurant is nicely decorated and the English-speaking staff was friendly, but the price-quality ratio is completely off. Unfortunately, we hadn't checked the reviews beforehand, otherwise we definitely would have eaten elsewhere.

We had a delicious meal, but it took an incredibly long time (more than an hour) before we received our food, partly because people had to catch a boat. It is also a nice restaurant for children. There are play areas and a children's menu.

The meal was okay. But... the staff's stubborn attitude regarding at least giving back some euro coins for the harbor showers was a bad experience. The instruction to the staff is not to do this. Because of this, no tip was given. Later, the next morning when the harbor office reopened, it turned out that the restaurant there can exchange as many coins as they want. Very stupid of the restaurant owner not to do this. It costs them a lot of customers, and we won't be going there again.

Nice restaurant, service was just okay. I think the waitress was working alone at the time; the outdoor area is simply too large for that.

Because we had to stay in the area, we ended up stranded here. In the morning, we went looking for coffee, which turned out to be coffee with the Nobel experience. We sat comfortably on the bench in the sun by the harbor. We ordered via QR code, which was ideal! It's just a shame that you can't pay immediately. That would have been even easier, considering there were two of us. One of the ladies didn't speak a word of Dutch. In the evening, we decided to go back there for dinner. Luckily, we ate at 4 o'clock, so there was no one there yet. Since things got a bit chaotic later on, people had to wait a long time because there were two of them. We regularly heard people complaining about this. We did have a delicious meal, except for the chicken/aubergine with the spareribs, which were actually cold. On Wednesday afternoon, we were thinking of possibly coming back for drinks, but unfortunately, they were closed, even though the website stated they were open daily from 11:00.

I'm skipping this place. The location is good, but the rest involved a long wait. The food was bad. We arrived at 16:45 and still had to rush to catch the 18:30 boat.

The food was very tasty, but the service was not good. They rarely came out onto the terrace; you could order via a QR code. However, you could not choose everything from the menu via the QR code. Due to a lack of staff, we just chose from that limited selection. (Which ultimately turned out to be far too much, as it seemed more like bar snacks for a group than a meal for one person). It took a long time for the food to arrive, and upon leaving, there were 10 people in line to pay. As we cycled away, we saw a sign stating that the children's menu was free between 5:00 PM and 6:00 PM. We didn't notice any of that... we happily paid for two children's menus. Once again, the food itself was very good. Feel free to go there if you have the time to wait for the service, your food, and settling the bill.

Super friendly staff and picked up nachos for the boat. They were outstanding, a good portion and generously topped. A perfect end to a week on Ameland!

Probably the biggest culinary disappointment we've had on Ameland in the last 15 years. Cold, mushy, inedible food that was supposed to be "Mexican." Tacos that were made from fajitas. A 90-minute wait, even though the place was almost empty. Untrained staff who were clearly trying, but completely overwhelmed. 180 euros for four people was unreasonable. We received no response to our written complaint sent directly to the owner, "van Heeckeren." The only redeeming feature was the ambiance, but that alone isn't enough.

Yes! Delicious food and pleasant service. You step into a beautiful ambiance. And also try the Amelanders Beetje Blond.

Like many others, I escaped to this cozy spot between the showers for a delicious lunch. The service is very friendly, and the menu is extensive. It's a shame we arrived too early for the pizzas (from 1 p.m.). We had a nice appetizer platter, a sandwich, and a hamburger with fries. Everything was fresh and well-prepared, and it was on the table in no time. It's a great place; I'd love to come back.

The name "Harbour Club" lives up to its name! Hot chocolate: €6 Double of whipped cream: €1 Coke: €3.90 The food was reasonably priced according to the menu, but we didn't eat there because the staff only spoke English. A language barrier is so difficult!

We recently made a reservation at this restaurant. After ordering and receiving drinks, we were told they wouldn't be serving any more food. We had to rush to find an alternative place to eat around 8 p.m. The server wasn't entirely responsible for this. After all, food that isn't there can't be served. I do hold the restaurant responsible for this. TLDR: Despite having a reservation, we were told 30 minutes after arriving that they couldn't/wouldn't be serving us any more food.

Apparently, even a ship can sink in the harbor. We experienced such appallingly poor service at the harbor. After a long wait, the waiter came to take our drinks orders, which arrived more than fifteen minutes later. We then asked for the menu. Unfortunately, the waiters were nowhere to be seen, so we ordered our food at the bar and told them we had to leave in 45 minutes to catch the last boat. Forty minutes after ordering, we went to the bar to cancel our food order and paid for our drinks (a beer and rosé were €15.40). When we complained, there was no empathy or courtesy. We waited a total of an hour and fifteen minutes. What should have been a pleasant end to a beautiful summer day on Ameland ended in a disappointment we've never experienced before. Incidentally, several tables that evening were completely disastrous. Orders weren't taken, the wrong food was served, or nothing was served at all. The location is beautiful, as is the restaurant's decor, but the service is severely lacking. The staff clearly lacks experience, and seniority is completely absent. Our advice: skip this place!

Beautiful location, but disappointing service The location is beautiful and the interior is cozy, but unfortunately, the service seriously ruined our experience. We were served by a young man with dark blond, shoulder-length hair. He was downright rude and curt. The menu only listed "cappuccino XL." My friend ordered a cappuccino but indicated he'd prefer not to have a large. When his order was taken, I reminded him to mention this. Before I could even finish my sentence, we were rudely interrupted with: "It's a bit strange that I'd offer the large if he didn't ask for an XL!" I tried to explain that we didn't know if a smaller cappuccino was possible, precisely because it wasn't on the menu. We thought it would be logical to offer the XL if that's the only option listed. Instead of showing understanding, he kept repeating himself with the same unpleasant attitude. I had already seen him react unfriendlyly to his colleague behind the bar, and later he also snapped at the table next to us. It's a shame, because the place itself is beautiful - but with this kind of service we wouldn't recommend it.

First, we were served a beer that was too warm. Our drinks order was taken via text message, but unfortunately, the drinks didn't match the order. Four main courses were ordered, one of which arrived without cutlery. We asked for it, and another 15 minutes later, after another request, the dishes were served. However, again, without cutlery... apparently, they don't need it. We did. The food was tasty and good, but unfortunately, the service ruined the overall rating. We can't recommend it.

Waited over 25 minutes for 3 radlers and a cappuccino, bizarre. While waiting, I wanted to order an extra children's ice cream inside. Oddly enough, this wasn't possible at the counter, but only with a staff member outside. However, the boy had an attitude that wasn't exactly customer-friendly. We had to cancel the children's ice cream after 15 minutes or we would have missed the boat.

A great place. Plenty of seating, and the food is truly delicious. The staff is super friendly. When I got the extra-large Cajun grilled cheese sandwich in the afternoon, I didn't expect it to be so much! We went back the next day!

Many reserved seats arrived 1.5 minutes later, resulting in limited seating. We ordered drinks and food, but had to wait 45 minutes. It only arrived after we asked where it was. The people next to us had ordered earlier but hadn't received their food by the time we'd finished. They had to cancel their food to catch the boat. Young staff, understaffed... I didn't get a good impression of this restaurant. It's a shame, as it has such a good reputation. The nachos were good, though.

Food was really nice as well as the environment and the sights. However, the curly-hair guy was a bit rude with us. He threw the wipe to us to clean the table. Everything else was fantastic, we will return.

Thursday, July 31st, we dined with 4 people. If you order a starter and a snack platter for 2 people and four of you eat from it, you'll be charged 4 x 11 euros. We were treated leniently, only having to pay for 2 because there was a piece of plastic in the burrito. At 7 p.m., we were at the table, the snack platter, and at 8:30 we asked where our main course was. When it arrived, it was lukewarm. We asked for a carafe of tap water; a bottle (8.25) was immediately brought to the table. We refused, but it was included on the bill. We were corrected when we noticed. Expensive and not good.

Staff were completely disinterested in the guests, orders were incorrect and incomplete. When the food arrived, there was no cutlery on the table. I had to eat my fajita WITHOUT a plate—no one came, even after asking. The drink I ordered never arrived either. The waiter came several times, but nothing happened. The prices were exorbitant. Worst service ever!

A true gem in the island's service desert. Even at 8 p.m., you still feel good sitting down at one of the beautifully decorated tables to enjoy a delicious meal...in our case, the beef fajitas. All side dishes were refilled upon request at no extra charge...we've never experienced anything like that in other restaurants on the island. For us, it's an absolutely comfortable place with a stunning view of the harbor...the name "Habour" is aptly named =)

Had a delicious lunch. Fantastic location. Friendly service, nice atmosphere with Mediterranean music and cozy cushions. Very fresh and delicious dishes. It's great how the Mediterranean dishes get a local twist by using fresh, local ingredients. We had the beef croquettes and tostada pollo advocado (evocado toast with pulled chicken). Everything was super fresh: the vegetables, salad, and guacamole. Highly recommended!

Too few staff and too little stock, even though it's not even peak season. The food is average. Portions are generous, but the flavors aren't convincing. The big question remains: why a Mexican restaurant? Why not a good seafood restaurant?

The kitchen was understaffed, so we couldn't eat. The location was great! Spacious terrace with a beautiful sunset. Ample parking, and a bouncy castle for the kids.

The "Tostada Chicken Avocado" is a must-try for lunch. Delicious!

Delicious food, but a bit pricey. We had the Mexican tasting, which was very tasty, with two Cokes and two bottles of water. We spent €200 there, including the tip.

Fantastic really big portions so big we couldn't finish them and super nice people we were there on a Friday while on vacation really recommended but tip don't order the nachos xl on your own you won't finish them we went back the next day wow!

What a perfect place to eat!! We went there in the evening. The decor alone looked very nice, not too overly Mexican and cozy. The service (2 ladies when we were there) were super nice and constantly walked around so that no one was short of anything. The food was excellent. From starter to main course to dessert. Everything was fresh and deliciously tasty and in our opinion prepared with love. What a difference from the restaurant we had been to the day before! We highly recommend it and hope to be able to go back there again.
