As has been posted so many times, I agree. The prices are brutal. The service isn't the fastest, and there's room for improvement. The prices of the soft drinks aren't listed on the menu, so you might be surprised if you don't ask. Draft Heineken isn't on the menu either. If you don't ask, you'll feel dizzy... The location, setting, and seating are very cool. So everything still has room for improvement.

A truly fantastic "café" (more like a beach bar). The staff is the best on Ameland and creates the fantastic atmosphere you always experience here.

Great service. We were recognized upon our return, and even the order from the day before was remembered (yes, just by heart ;D). The staff certainly don't lack a sense of humor. We rarely encounter that! Furthermore, the place looks good and well-maintained, with a real beach club vibe in the heart of Nes. The food is delicious and a feast for the eyes. With Friday and Saturday vinyl nights, where the DJ spins the chosen records, it makes for a fun, musical summer evening. The details, such as a fireplace at the table, games to play, and free peanuts to shell and popcorn to pop, make your evening here complete!

We had a great time, the bingo was well-organized, and it was a lot of fun. Even when there's less activity on the patio, it's still a pleasant atmosphere.

We were helped immediately upon arrival and to our surprise there was already a game ready on the table - super fun! We asked if the fireplace could be lit, and that was no problem at all; it was arranged immediately and placed at the table. The staff was very friendly and had a nice sense of humor. The lounge sofas were wonderful and invited you to linger for a long time. Definitely recommended!

The setting is undoubtedly promising. A unique place, tastefully decorated – you expect a special experience. Unfortunately, that only turned out to be the case on the outside. The prices are downright absurd: €8.25 for a bottle of sparkling water, €5.75 for a simple tea. And the “Haute Frituur” platter for two people at €28? Fourteen snacks, four of which were mini-frikandels. It felt like more attention had been paid to the name than to the content of the platter. But what really was the low point: a boy from the service who, without any reason, addressed us about alleged drug use in the toilet. Such accusations, especially when they are unfounded, simply do not belong in a catering establishment. It felt disrespectful and completely out of place. As a guest, you want to feel welcome – that was anything but the case here. And then there are the details, such as the soap in the toilet that has been diluted with water so often that it is hardly recognisable as soap. Small, but telling. A waste of such a beautiful place. There is potential here, but if you treat guests this way and charge such prices for such a mediocre experience, then things go wrong. Hopefully there will be self-reflection, because this can really be much better.

A very nice café/restaurant in the middle of Kirchenplatz. The food is good and the service is friendly. The drinks are VERY expensive—57% more expensive than in Germany.

Great service and a friendly atmosphere! Very beachy with cheap deals! Only tip: The cheese bitterballs on the online menu do not indicate that they also contain chorizo... That is useful to know if you are a vegetarian! Thanks for everything!!

Super cozy place. Friendly staff and our son loved the popcorn popping. You were really treated here as you should be. The host Sanel does what a host should do. Make the customer feel at home.

For the impersonal service such as ordering via a QR code (which later caused problems when paying), leaving dirty glasses from previous guests, half of the staff wearing casual clothes and the other half in company clothes, limited options for paying and parasols that needed some attention, we found the prices disproportionately high.

The Heeckeren pizza was delicious

We had a limoncello, an Amelands Beetje Blond, and nachos. The café is centrally located in Nes and has a lounge feel. Overall, it's a nice café. They also host events like bingo and record wishes night (vinyl records).

Waited half an hour before I was served. Glass of iced tea turns out to cost 5.85 euros. Absurd price supposedly on the menu, but there was no menu with prices for soft drinks on the table. Nice business model if there are new tourists next week anyway...

Last weekend we had a great time at this beautiful spot in Nes. The heathers were on, which made it wonderful to stay despite the rain. We also got 2 free drinks due to a mistake by the staff, which was not necessary but was very much appreciated. We will definitely come here more often when we come to Ameland!

Had to wait a very long time before anyone even came while it was almost empty. But the service had more eye for ladies. Probably not enough money spent, because we didn't get a nobeltje when paying while they did at other tables. The food was good but price and quantity are poor. In short, a one-off for us.

Looks cozy and modern. Interesting concept also with the fire at the tables. Regarding food: our group (4 people) would not sit here again. Not even for a drink. It is very expensive and not worth it. The pizzas burrata (a margeritha with a ball of burrata on it and one with ham on it) were 21 euros per pizza. As far as we were concerned very overpriced. Large parts of the pizzas were tough, the cheese was not very smooth and there was some green on it, but no idea if this was the basil. You would expect fresh basil for 21 euros. Furthermore, it turned out that the first employee had not transferred our order, so we had to do it again with another employee. When the employee came to bring our order, he put the plates down randomly and said that he "doesn't know which one is whose" and walked away again. He already seemed uninterested, that was now confirmed. Finally, I had a chai latte and that should be XL. It was even less than if you were to order a regular one somewhere. It brings tears to your eyes when you have to pay 6.30 for it. I would give the employee who helped us and who was also very good at handling the feedback 5 stars. She also offered us a drink on the house.

We were there for bingo evening, having easily reserved online beforehand. Bingo was fun, the host was funny, and overall, we have no complaints about the young and friendly staff. Orders were taken and brought promptly, and empty glasses were cleared promptly. The atmosphere was good. But – the drink prices are completely unreasonable and outrageous! The same goes for the food prices. At the end of the evening, we paid over €100 for two people just for drinks, which is pretty steep. Overall, the numerous van Heeckeren restaurants on Ameland are really bad and a total tourist rip-off!

Nice place to put in the evening. Atmosphere is very nice with the (gas) fires. This also makes it nice and warm on a cooler evening. Places are shared when it is busier, so you end up sitting opposite other people. The sound of the music is quite loud, making it very difficult to talk to the people opposite. Food and drinks are quite pricey, but the atmosphere makes it reasonable. Tip: ask for a popcorn pan when you sit by the fire

Looks nice but that's about it. It's a pity that there are arrogant chefs in the kitchen who provide no service at all and even make it difficult for service. That ruins the matter. We don't come here anymore when we are on Ameland. Chefs didn't feel like remaking a sandwich we wanted to wait for and were told they were too busy. No service at all and that was visible in the open kitchen. For these high prices you expect at least the minimum service.

We had a nice spot in the early spring sunshine, ordered some drinks and lunch. The tosti's we got were tasteless with cheese that was barely melted. No sauces either. Food was quite expensive, so we expected more.

Weekend help Tom is a legend. After a very successful Vinyl Friday from Ryan, we returned on Saturday evening. And once again a very successful evening. Definitely recommended on the island

It's a nice place to sit, they have heaters and a gas fire, but it is very expensive, the only thing you pay for lunch is a sandwich and the rest is closer to a price you pay for dinner. The sandwich itself was also underprepared and very bare. The wait is also very long, but you can make your own popcorn over the fire for free

On a cold and late arrival on Ameland, you can enjoy a warm and cozy meal here. Nice atmosphere and enthusiastic service. If we are on Ameland again, we will definitely come back here

A nice place to enjoy outside even in winter! The outdoor heaters provide sufficient heat, although in some places they could be set a little lower - it sometimes felt like I was almost being roasted. But the hot chocolate with whipped cream made up for everything: really great! Definitely recommended for a winter stopover.

You can really enjoy yourself here on the terrace. Food is always good and delicious and they are always super friendly. Dogs are also more than welcome and water is always available for them. However, prices are skyrocketing. A mocktail is just as expensive as a cocktail. Not in proportion. If prices were lower we would also consume and eat more. (Would also increase sales)

The service leaves much to be desired. Even though it was certainly not busy, we had to wait a very long time for our drinks. If you make a comment about this, you will receive the answer: "it is sometimes difficult to find a colleague" while the person we placed the order with simply arrives with the bottle of Nobel. Unfortunately, this is now the case for the second evening. I don't understand why this terrace has won the prize for most beautiful/best terrace.

It used to be great, but now they save a lot on alcohol. Both Gin Tonic and Aperol Spritz were almost alcohol-free. It was always expensive, but now the quality is no longer up to par... Ps. Large terrace with heaters. Great that this can be done all year round! It did smell of gas occasionally, but that was normal according to the staff. It's quite expensive, not in relation to what you get, I thought, but I noticed that all over the island. Few herbs are used, but that is a matter of taste. Fresh tea is with pieces of ginger, pieces of fruit in hot water. It was a special day for us, and that doesn't change that.

Drink cocktails on this very attractive terrace. The atmosphere couldn't be better, beach through and through. Warm fires that make it lovely even in autumn. Good atmosphere, nice music and great service. Cocktails were delicious, including the virgin varieties for our teenagers. The price is indeed a shame, because it is really too high, which means that the overall experience is slightly deducted.

The atmosphere is nice. Cozy on a drizzly day like today. Staff some nice but generally slow. The price-quality ratio is scandalous. Vending chocolate milk for €5.50…. The lunch was not bad but very mediocre in all respects and ridiculously expensive. Totally out of proportion. But there's plenty of money around here so yeah…. They can ask...

You can supposedly request music, but they don't play any of it. Not even after asking twice. And we ask for nice songs.

My, my, this is bad. Yesterday I ordered 2 cappuccinos and 2 pastries. So the cappuccino came, but the pastries did not, and many more people complained about this. Walk to the cash register to pay 20.60, they say, to my great surprise, I say I never received any pastries, he says yes, strawberry pastries are gone. Do not inform about this but leave the bill. No, I won't come here again and I don't think many others will. Get Jessica back quickly with her in the business, the organization would be much better, it is now chaos.

Had lunch here with a group of 11 people. Received an email afterwards that they appreciated feedback, so here it is. We had made a reservation but they had not taken us into account. Fortunately, they resolved this well and we were still able to sit comfortably inside. Why 3 stars? Especially because of the price/quality ratio. The lunch was really outrageously expensive for what you get. Example: 22 euros for a Thai chicken salad. Then I expect a top salad. However, it was a plate of limp mesclun lettuce, with a few pieces of smoked chicken and a much too sweet dressing that seems to have come from the supermarket. I'm not exaggerating. Nachos looked good and you had a big plate full of them. I just grabbed some from my neighbor. As for me: nice for a beer on the terrace (because they do have a nice terrace) but I wouldn't have lunch here again anytime soon.

The food was very expensive and the food was cold and not tasty. Little choice in pizza and it arrived cold. It had a bad cassis. I do not recommend this. No option to adjust a dish. Really disappointed.

Wannabe Schicki Micki Local The entire service team seemed annoyed, stressed and wasn't very friendly either. The tables were dirty, there were chips and limes on the floor. We had two drinks - beer and dirty chai latte. The beer was good and came quickly. The chai came 10 minutes later and tasted like nothing. Instead of hot milk, the chai consisted of HOT WATER and milk with minimal spice or coffee. I've never had such bad chai. Not recommended.
