With a group of 10 people, we enjoyed a three-course meal on a beautiful summer evening. We started with a starter of carpaccio, followed by the main course of duck breast, and finally the dessert, tiramisu. The service from both the serving staff and the preparation from the kitchen was of an excellent standard. I can sincerely recommend everyone make a reservation here for an excellent evening meal!

We had a very unpleasant experience today at this otherwise lovely restaurant. Families with small children are treated extremely rudely here. Our children and our friends' children were playing quietly with toy cars on the floor next to our table. The various guests at the neighboring tables didn't seem bothered at all; in fact, they even showed friendly interest. But even then, we were met with unfriendly stares from the owner and staff. When we paid, the owner threw a rag at us and told us to clean the floor—not even under our table! Apparently, a child at the next table had accidentally dropped a piece of cake. I'm all for keeping things quiet and clean when you have children, but here, families with children are treated extremely rudely by default. I definitely wouldn't recommend this place.

Just like every previous time, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves again. The welcome at Martine and Rik's is always familiar and relaxed. The surprise menu was delicious. Thank you.

We were actually too early for lunch (from 12 pm), but since we had to catch the ferry, we were served quickly. A very tasty lunch (midday snack and omelet). Relaxed setting, but highly recommended. It's nice to go for a walk or bike ride in the area afterwards.

We visited twice – once in the afternoon for coffee and once in the evening for dinner – and both times we had a wonderful experience. The staff was exceptionally friendly and attentive, even taking the time for brief, personal conversations with the guests – this made our visit particularly pleasant. The food was of very high quality and prepared with regional products. The portions are rather small, and the prices are on the higher end of what we personally are willing to spend on a restaurant meal. It was somewhat disappointing that we were offered bread with dips before our meal, which we had taken as a complimentary gesture. In the end, we were charged almost €10 for it. This was not reasonable for the quantity or the taste. However, the ambiance more than makes up for it: a historic, quaint, and very cozy building, lovingly decorated inside and out with art objects, some of which are also available for purchase. Overall, a special place with a great atmosphere. Tip: Be sure to make a reservation in advance for dinner!

The service was unfortunately disappointing: We were told quite frankly that we hadn't ordered enough and that they would have preferred more profitable customers. Unbelievable, but we stayed anyway. Luckily, the food was very good! There were four of us, and we ate there: three main courses and one soup with a bread platter. Each of us paid between €40 and €50.

Nice place, but not great service. We asked if we could have brown bread with the croquettes. "No," said the waitress curtly. We sensed she said that purely out of unwillingness, as brown bread was on the menu. Later, we spoke to the chef, who confirmed that he simply had all kinds of bread in stock. If you aren't hospitable, don't work in the hospitality industry...

One of the better restaurants on Ameland, both for the food and the service. We will definitely come back.

We celebrated our eighty-year-old grandparents' birthday at the restaurant. We ordered a five-course surprise dinner with wine pairings. The wines are delicious, and the owner, Martine, knows a great deal about them and has a nice story to tell about them. The atmosphere in the restaurant is very cozy and pleasant. Unfortunately, we found the food a little disappointing; it was quite simple. For the price of €75 for five courses, you would expect a bit more.

This restaurant truly belongs among the best on Ameland. Beautiful and delicious food. Highly recommended.

The food (tuna fillet) was very good, and the combination with rhubarb puree was also excellent. The only downside was the somewhat meager side dishes; there was only one small pot of fried potatoes for three main courses, but perhaps we could have ordered more. However, the service needs improvement – ​​even our request for a drinks menu before ordering (which should be a given) was met with displeasure, and one (!) menu was simply thrown onto the table without a word. When my wife wanted only soup as a main course, she was rudely told that this wasn't possible, and the dishes were immediately cleared away in front of her. The three of us other guests each ordered a rather expensive main course. Whether such a policy makes sense for the owner is debatable, but it certainly wasn't hospitable and could have been communicated much better. It seems that basic courtesy is unknown here. The restaurant's response unfortunately confirms our suspicions regarding their attitude towards guests. Furthermore, it's (deliberately?) incorrect – we only asked for the menu when we were asked what we wanted to drink, by which time we were already seated. And our friends weren't late; they arrived precisely at the time we booked the table. We were just a little earlier. A reasonable response to my wife's order would have been something like, "Unfortunately, that's not possible," but not this curt refusal, which you don't deny. That's "unsociable behavior," which I don't see in our case.

The duck breast was unappetizing. Didn't eat it. Owner's response: "You're the first one this year." ??? The tournedos wasn't very good either. The "sauce"... well, oh well. Perhaps the food was a bit stale, since we ate there two days after Christmas. You could always order the Christmas menu. I think that speaks volumes. Paid a lot for less than mediocre food. Tip: The email you receive when you make a reservation could be a bit friendlier. "If you don't show up, you have to pay €35 per person." It would be better if it said: "If you are unexpectedly unable to come..."

Last night, on Christmas Eve, we had another delicious meal and thoroughly enjoyed the hospitality! The service was friendly, and as always, there was time for a chat, which gave it that little bit extra. Thanks for a lovely evening everyone! The portions were excellent, and even vegetarians and vegans are welcome here. The food is prepared with care and imagination, not the usual standard fare. Beautifully presented, a feast on your plate! Don't forget to try the rhubarb, it's so delicious... We'll have some to take home to savor! The location remains beautiful, both inside and out, with a charming atmosphere, featuring art here and there to enjoy while dining, and also for sale. It's a bit at the end of the world, not in the village, but that's precisely what makes it magical when you drive there in the dark, and after dinner, walk outside and look at the stars. I love it. It's easy to drive to, and there's plenty of parking. You'll also pass by it on your walk, so you can enjoy coffee or lunch here too. I say go and experience it for yourself; we'll definitely be back!

Top spot for a good coffee and cake

We were looking for "French-inspired cuisine"! The food was good, but not particularly outstanding, and the prices were quite high for what it offered. The location is beautiful, of course, and the old building is lovely too. It's certainly nice to stop here for a cup of coffee after a long hike, but that's about it. The staff is very nice and friendly!

The bacon and cheese pancake I had really gets the wow factor from me. It was incredibly delicious. I felt a little bit like I was transported back to my childhood; it was so good. I didn't know pancakes like this still existed. I've had pancakes a few times in recent years, but nowhere near as good as these. The restaurant is also nice and small and atmospheric. The owners are also incredibly hospitable. I definitely felt like I was in the family. I'll definitely be back next year. See you next year, everyone! Thanks for the wonderful experience ♥️

We come back every year. We had a wonderful dinner here again. Even the appetizers were a dream. Attentive service in a pleasant atmosphere. Not much space, but it was fine with a dog. Stay as you are. Tip: The homemade rhubarb is also available in a jar to take home.

Very good, delicious food. You can taste the high-quality ingredients, and the lovingly creative interpretations on the plate are a feast for the eyes. We thoroughly enjoyed the quiet lunch on the terrace in the nature reserve, as well as the evening inside with subtly pleasant music. Vegan/vegetarian options are regularly included on the menu.

Delicious food and a good menu, but be careful with reservations!! Cancellations after 4:00 PM are subject to a €35 charge per person (!!). Because of the beautiful weather, we decided to eat closer to the beach at the last minute and canceled our reservation. Understandably, this was frustrating. But besides the complete lack of flexibility, the communication from the owner (?) Martine was especially unfriendly and surly. Upon arrival, she lectured us about her situation: the overcrowded reservation schedule and her "discussions" with other guests. It was a very negative reception, and we felt unwelcome. Cancellations are understandably frustrating, but it's a shame that this comes at the expense of hospitality. The food was otherwise excellent, and thankfully, the waitress was friendly.

A small, cozy restaurant with excellent food. We discovered the restaurant by chance last year and visited it a second time. So, it was a must this year and we'll be going again. The food has nothing to do with Holland and is simply special. For the price, you should know that a bottle of wine is included. We were there for the second time now and can only confirm what was written above. It was once again absolutely delicious.

We were too early because of the rain, didn't feel very welcome (were there at 17:00, were told that they would open at 18:00 and could not do much for us until then), were allowed to sit down but preferred to walk a bit more. Also when we returned (17:45) we didn't feel very welcome... A nice restaurant with good food but for what you get quite expensive and not quite in proportion.

I saw that there were plenty of wines, so there was plenty of choice for wine lovers. We had the surprise menu and it was delicious. Other guests at the table ate halibut (sublime) or tournedos (great). The desserts were also delicious. Are you on Ameland? Take the time to go here and be surprised.

I was able to spend a lovely evening in the 'KoaikersHuus' restaurant today. The table reservation in advance via the homepage went smoothly. I was greeted and served by a very friendly and always attentive lady from the service department. You can see what I ate in the pictures. I was very impressed with the quality and preparation of the food and everything tasted really wonderful. A rather inconspicuous side dish was also impressive - the homemade rhubarb compote. The atmosphere is really very cozy and you really feel at home from the first moment. The price/performance ratio is really reasonable. I would be happy to come back on my next visit to Ameland and can also recommend a visit to other visitors. The question as to why I didn't give the full number of stars: "Exceptionally good" is always a final rating and takes away the opportunity to be even more enthusiastic on the next visit 😉

Apparently a Burgundian and attractive restaurant. During a walk we were surprised by a heavy shower in the adjacent dunes. We were happy to have somewhere to warm up and have a drink. An employee (behaved like the owner (?)) was not very hospitable and was mainly concerned with selling expensive art. We therefore did not feel very welcome as walkers. Fortunately, the emergency services were friendlier.

This is the place I go to first when I get off the boat. This has been my spot for ten years and I have been coming to the island for 45 years. The different types of coffee, the delicious pastries (apple cranberry is highly recommended), the lunch, whatever you choose, it tastes great. Add to that the unique location, the always friendly staff and you have a recipe for an unforgettable time!

We have always been here as regular guests. However, when we were greeted today with a sleeping child in the trailer, which we had often had with us in the restaurant, with the words that we had to get out and that it was not your problem that the child was sleeping in it, it was clear to us that unfortunately that was what we were here for were last time. It's a shame but you just can't beat the saying in terms of friendliness.

Recently came by with family to eat pancakes. That turned out to be expensive, so I had to ask for the bill, which had already been paid. This was only printed when the payment slip was printed. We were charged €2.00 for a jug of tap water and €1.50 for an extra plate to share pancakes. I asked several people what they thought about it and it was perceived as a money grab and certainly not a service. I experienced that too.

Very good restaurant. Fresh ingredients. Original dishes. We had a surprise menu with wine accompaniment. The menu consisted of warm goat cheese with figs, duck breast in cranberry sauce with roasted potatoes, pointed cabbage and rhubarb. For dessert there was a tart with forest fruit sauce. Very harmonious cuisine. Very good wines with great aromas. Very cozy atmosphere with lots of local art in a picturesque setting. Highly recommended. A good price/performance ratio.

Had a delicious soup and then had a nice drink. Super friendly lady who serves you. Toilets are neat What spoiled the fun a bit for us was the, I think, owner. People next to us were having lunch and had apparently also made reservations for dinner first. Apparently they had to cancel this due to personal circumstances. The owner(?) raged at the couple about this for 5 minutes. That they could have thought of that a little earlier and should also have thought about the restaurant staff. That this is very annoying for them and that they still had to pay reservation costs. We had vicarious shame for the owner. How dare you. They tried to explain that there really is no other way and that due to private circumstances a few boats had to go home early. But no, she didn't need an explanation. It is understandable that a cancellation is also annoying for the restaurant. But it seems to me that in these circumstances you can also say "oh, how annoying. Enjoy the rest of your day here". And since ma'am. I also stated very clearly that she has a long waiting list, so it doesn't seem to be a problem at all. It was around 12.30 that we were seated again. 1 call there your waiting list and it is solved EDIT: We have indeed not received the previous story. However, the conversation we heard was in the middle of the restaurant. So regardless of what came before this, this is how it came across to us and the vibe you left behind. And what was said in the presence of other customers.

The pastry and sandwich were delicious with coffee

We have been coming here regularly for many years. Great place after a walk or bike ride, friendly and adequate service and a beautiful terrace. Last week I was shocked by the croquette/cheese/healthy sandwich, etc. for €15, so I stuck to a soft drink.

Update '24: We really enjoyed our two dinners at KoaikersHuus this year too. The atmosphere with grandma (70), child (10) and dog (2.5) was again super relaxed. The service was top and the food was excellent. We ask that you make a reservation in advance for dinner, otherwise you will be left empty-handed. There is a café, cakes and snacks in the afternoon, which can also be enjoyed on the beautiful outdoor terrace. We will come back again in 2025. The anticipation is great! We had a wonderful evening, with great food, delicious wine, super nice service in a relaxed, cozy atmosphere. We find the prices to be absolutely reasonable for the services provided. Wonderful place to rest during your bike or walk and enjoy a delicious piece of cake or a delicious lunch/dinner! Martine always provides special art, this time photos of birds on Ameland and ceramic birds on a wooden pedestal. Behind the restaurant there is a fantastic nature reserve where you can enjoy walking. Our Dibbes enjoyed it. We were welcomed enthusiastically but also stately by a beautiful Frisian! Now a year later we had a nice and delicious lunch with son Sven!

We have been coming to Ameland for several years but had never eaten here. First of all, very friendly service. Very interested and correct. Secondly, the food. In a word; DELICIOUS. Everything tasted great, even the side dishes were excellent. Knowing this and knowing that we come to Ameland every year, we will definitely come back more often. Recommended!! We have now been here again during our annual holiday on Ameland and the food remains a feast. Every dish has a taste sensation.
