Ate here on the way home and really enjoyed it. We opted for the 4-course surprise menu. The food is excellent / creative and the price-quality ratio is good. Great atmosphere too. A minor downside was that we had to wait a bit long between courses.

Had a really delicious lunch. Compliments to the chef(s). The service was also very good. We would love to come back here soon

Sukade is a fantastic place to enjoy a culinary treat, Meppel's hidden wealth. Chic? Yes. With Drenthe sobriety. Affordable if you compare it with another concept? Yes. (took the test today) For every kind of person? Yes. Last year I was able to experience dinner, dinner. A ditch of corridors, the Parisian underground corridor system is nothing compared to that. Yet you will not get lost in this, you will be guided down to the last detail. Upon entering you will be warmly welcomed by a professional family atmosphere. You sit comfortably, can talk to each other and there is a beautiful terrace outside. I had to be invited to enjoy this experience, before I thought it was 'too fancy'. I hear that from more people. In retrospect, I think it's a shame to have that wrong prejudice, because I now have a beautiful and fine restaurant in my dining repertoire. You don't know what you are experiencing in terms of food, how much love and preparation has gone into it. There are recipes that will tickle your tongue. They even know how to refine the fries and I say that as a fan of that type. Cappuccino? The milk collar still keeps the totality of the whole hidden (in a positive sense). I could go on and on. I would like to do that again when it comes to dining out at Sukade. Top!

Wij zijn last minute een weekend weg in Sint Jansklooster. De eigenaar adviseerde de stad Meppel. Eenmaal aangekomen aangekomen een rondje door de stad gelopen en via Google gezocht naar een restaurant. Mijn oog viel op sukade, via Google Maps werden we erheen gebracht. Bij aankomst werden we vriendelijk welkom geheten en hadden de keuze om binnen of buiten plaats te nemen. Wij kozen voor buiten, mooi binnenterrein aan de gracht met mooie olijfbomen en fijne tafels. Mooi ruim opgezet. Wij zijn begonnen met een fles bruisende Meppel en daarbij 6 oesters. Wat waren de oesters goed schoon gemaakt zeg. Als lunch hebben wij gekozen voor een steak tartaar eggs royal. Wat was het brood heerlijk vers en werd het leuk gepresenteerd bij mijn voorgerecht in een broodzakje. De steaktaraar was heel goed op smaak, alles wat je wil hierbij was aanwezig. De eggs royal voor mijn man was zeker royaal, qua beleg en smaken. Als afsluiting hebben wij ons door de chef laten verrassen met een dessert met bijpassende dessertwijn.

Prima en zeer smakelijk 4-gangen diner genuttigd. Zeer vriendelijke, attente en kundige medewerk(st)ers. Mooie en niet al te prijzige wijnen. Bij binnenkomst aangegeven dat wij naar een voorstelling gingen en daar werd met het serveren van de diverse gangen zeer goed rekening mee gehouden. Kortom: Een restaurant wat tijdens een bezoek aan Meppel niet mag worden overgeslagen!

Goede verhalen over gehoord, dus hoog tijd om eens te proberen. Schitterend pand, mooie aankleding en de ontvangst is zeer vriendelijk. Men kookt hier met een vleugje oosters accent an dat doet de gerechten goed…t is allemaal net een tikje anders , maar niet te overdreven…de vijf gangen gaan er prima in en de wijn is ook geen straf. Het is allemaal niet spectaculair, maar prima en origineel zijn de woorden die te binnen schieten. Prijs is prima, t was een fijne avond.

Surprising dishes, well flavoured. Nice wines and friendly and knowledgeable staff. Location is good and well furnished. We ate a 6 course menu of which I thought in advance that the 6th course was cheese. However, it also turned out to be possible to get two desserts and then cheese. Some started with oysters, the rest ate canned sardine with bread and black garlic cream. Very tasty. After 2 small amuse-bouche we enjoyed menu 148 which included a number of very nice dishes. Dorade's sashimi was fresh and nice and light. Followed by a beautifully prepared piece of Pieterman on bacon. The veal cheek ravioli with black mushrooms and olive is also delicious. Followed by Rib-Eye with beurre café de Paris. Really good, although the cooking differed slightly for different people at the table. Completely concluded with delicious cheeses, beautiful and fresh dessert and coffee, tea with some friandises. Full evening program and apart from the different cooking of the Rib-Eye and chairs that in our opinion need better to sit at the table for so long, a wonderful experience. They can learn something from this in Randstad. Especially in terms of price-quality ratio.

Food and wine excellent, combination certainly good. Operation is a bit stiff. Table layout is too tight, especially the 2 person tables. Almost feels like a cafeteria. Number of stars review because of the hefty price tag, the balance is difficult to find.

Heerlijk gastvrij geluncht hier. Fijne gastvrouw, hele leuke en frisse inrichting en open keuken. Boven ook nog een prachtig restaurantgedeelte. WC's blinkend schoon en ook hier weer de mooie inrichting. Het eten was voortreffelijk en de porties waren meer dan voldoende! Voor mij persoonlijk had de kip in mijn naan wat warmer gemogen maar de smaak was perfect. Het restaurant zit op een ontzettend leuke locatie aan het water in Meppel met het pannenkoekenschip voor de deur. Parkeren kan pal voor de deur en zelfs op zaterdagmiddag was hier meer dan voldoende ruimte.

On Christmas Eve, three of us and our golden retriever visited the restaurant and enjoyed a 7-course menu. The staff kindly collected our jackets at the entrance and escorted us to our tastefully decorated table. We were delighted to see that a drinking bowl was provided for our dog. Our table was thoughtfully placed in a quiet corner to ensure we did not disturb other guests. The gastronomic experience began with three amuse-bouches, accompanied by a glass of champagne. Describing the following seven courses in terms of cuisine and taste is difficult. Each course was presented beautifully and timed perfectly, creating anticipation for the next dish. The intervals between courses were just right, neither too long nor too short. The restaurant's vegetarian version of foie gras was impressive, featuring a peanut cream topped with a mild and sweet Pedro Ximinez, as well as various preparations of Jerusalem artichoke. All courses deserve praise. The restaurant's own version of Viennetta was the highlight of the menu. The service provided throughout the evening was attentive and courteous, contributing to a perfect dining experience. Thank you for having us as your guests!

We had a six-course meal here on Saturday evening, plus cheese. We were welcomed at the door. Because of the nice weather, we accepted the suggestion to have the aperitif on the terrace on the water. We started on the terrace with a cocktail and an aperitif from the menu (extra). As an appetizer we received a mini pumpkin madeleine, with pumpkin chutney and pumpkin seeds. Where many restaurants nowadays go all out with three or more appetizers, Sukade limits itself to 1 appetizer. In consultation we opted for the five courses from the meat/fish menu, supplemented with a course from the vegetable menu. All in all it was a pleasant experience. The dishes were beautiful to look at and tasted good. Often with Asian, especially Japanese influences. We found the portioning to be on the small side, especially for the dish that was supposed to act as a main course: Veal loin / silver onion / artichoke / ginger / carrot. A small sandwich from Bakker Bas was served with the first course. We were not asked if we wanted more bread with the meal. We did not ask for this either, because we felt that it did not fit into the concept. Accompanying wines are good, but not exceptional. The package price just matches the prices you would have to pay for the bottles. About the atmosphere: The open kitchen is very striking. You could see the team in the kitchen doing their work quietly and relaxed. The place where drinks are poured and coffee is prepared is also not separated from the area where the guests sit. Not disturbing, but rather beneficial for contact between service and guests. What can be experienced as disturbing is the level of the music, which is more appropriate for a trendy café. When we were there, all tables in the downstairs area of ​​Sukade were occupied. There were still free tables upstairs. The atmosphere downstairs tends towards a cafe or lunch shop. Some long benches and tables without table linen. The distance to other guests is fairly small there. You wouldn't expect this in this price range. Not a place for an intimate dinner. In that case, it is advisable to ask for a spot in the upper section. Crockery is neat, mostly neutral white. The cutlery is very standard. Boring and dull. Cloth napkins, straight from the laundry, not neatly folded. Real flowers on the table. Service is knowledgeable and friendly. Pace is fine. The kitchen is demand-driven. When the table is ready (wine poured and cutlery laid out), the waiter indicates that a dish can be served. No free table water, but only Marie Stella Maris, with which you support the goal of achieving clean drinking water for everyone worldwide. It's a shame that you have to transport water from the Eifel in bottles in a less sustainable way, while you can also have it flow from the tap into a carafe in Meppel. Organic coffee from Frans de Grebber, fairly smooth in taste. Toilets are neat. The downside is the disposable towels.

The restaurant has a nice atmosphere. It's cozy, clean and the staff is friendly. The price-quality ratio is good! The dishes look chic, but if you want to go for fine dining, it is better to go somewhere else and pay a little more. Don't expect dishes that 'melt in your tongue'. This is perfect for those who want to dine for a long time without paying the top price. Personally, I thought an average waiting time of half an hour for 5 courses was too long. I don't regret my visit, but I don't know if I would go back anytime soon.

One point of attention is the acoustics. It was completely full and for my mother (90) a conversation was almost impossible. But this restaurant is 100% recommended and we will definitely come back!!

Fantastic restaurant in the heart of Meppel. Nice location on the water, a historic building that has been made contemporary without losing its soul. We chose the Sukades Smaeckfestival XL for lunch and it was an absolute winner: original and refreshing. The highlight were the vegetarian dishes, which were a real hit. In other restaurants they are often treated step-motherly, but in Sukade they really stand out. Good looking. The sweet course was also neat and creative. We were more than satisfied after the 9 plates. The fact that the bill was completely in proportion, including for drinks, made this an absolute hit. The service was friendly, but not pushy and very spontaneous. Sukade is therefore highly recommended!

Tasty and good vegetarian food...in my area (Heerenveen) there are few restaurants where that is possible. Eating out is often a disappointment. I am served something that I can make myself or it is even less tasty than what I eat at home. This is not the case at Sucade. We went for the 5 course surprise menu. Both completely vegetarian and my table companion also lactose free, so almost vegan. This turned out to be no problem for Sucade. With a lot of knowledge of vegetarian food and flavors, we were pleasantly surprised with every course. The food looked beautiful and most importantly, it tasted great! A great choice if you want surprising and excellent vegetarian food.
