Restaurant Visque in Museumkwartier

I regularly go there and this time I organized our annual Christmas dinner. It was amazing and all of my colleagues loved it - some will return for the Tuna Wellington :)

I arrived without a reservation, but they were able to seat me anyway. Appetizer was the prawn and scallop dumplings - fantastic, the mushrooms steal the show. Main course was cod, perfectly cooked. The service was friendly and prompt.

I would like to apologize sincerely for the review I gave this restaurant. That review was meant for another restaurant. To give the restaurant a proper review, i will visit in the next few days. My expectations are already high. Thank you to the owner for the calm and respectful reply to my wrong review!

A little Wednesday celebration at Visque — incredible food, beautiful wine, and the kindest people. Couldn’t have picked a better place.

Delicious food! Beautiful dishes and generous portions. The acoustics were a bit off, but not too bad. The open kitchen and relaxed atmosphere were also nice. Definitely worth a visit 👍

We had dinner at Visque, and everything was perfect: the food, the atmosphere, and the service. We sat outside on the terrace, which made the evening even more enjoyable. The fish, in particular, was incredibly fresh and perfectly prepared. The staff was friendly and offered excellent recommendations for choosing dishes and wines. Highly recommended in the city!

I spontaneously ended up here early (they open at 4:00 PM) and enjoyed oysters and wine on the terrace, followed by a delicious sole. What a lovely restaurant with excellent service and delicious food. I'll definitely be back!

We always have a delicious meal here! And it's just such a beautiful and cozy restaurant.

Visited this place and was extremely disappointed. When I arrived, there were only two free tables. I immediately pointed to one, but the waiter, with a smug attitude, deliberately stared at the seating chart for a long time. When I said I wanted that table, he cut me off with “wait, I’m looking.” Seating was unnecessarily delayed without any visible reason. I ordered mineral water, a ribeye steak, dessert, and tea. The serving sequence was completely wrong: first came the water, then tea (!), then the steak, and finally dessert — by which time the tea was already cold. The ribeye steak was suspiciously thin, far from the standard cut, which resulted in mediocre doneness. The dessert was a cheap chocolate mousse with vegetable fats and a strong margarine aftertaste. By the time I finished eating, the restaurant was almost empty — proving that in the beginning there was no objective reason for the delayed seating, other than the waiter showing off a false sense of “importance.” Overall, the place tries to appear like a proper restaurant, but in terms of service and food quality it’s just a diner with inflated prices thanks to a convenient location.

Visited Restaurant Visque and it was truly a remarkable culinary experience. The food was exceptional — beautifully presented, flavorful, and creatively prepared. The service was professional and attentive, with staff offering great recommendations and ensuring we felt welcome. The atmosphere was elegant and cozy, making the entire evening even more enjoyable. We spent around €90–100 per person, and it was absolutely worth every cent. Perfect spot for a special dinner or a refined dining experience. Highly recommended!

Great evening! Incredibly delicious food. The quality is good. Value for money. The service is excellent!

When we finished eating, the waiter asked us to pay the bill because the table was to be reserved in 5 minutes. This meant we had to leave the restaurant immediately. Perhaps we had ordered too little and had to vacate the table all at once for the other customers who were spending more. It was very unpleasant.

OK, when we left, our dog growled at one of the waiters (the animal was nervous/anxious). But that is no reason to say that we should put our dog down. Because of this incident, I don't think you will see us again, even though the food was quite tasty.

What a TOP tent this is! Delicious 3 course meal at this restaurant. Started with the oysters which were delicious. After this we ordered the tuna and monkfish (see photo). The sauce that came with the monkfish tasted delicious. The tuna was also great. When you took a bite it fell apart nicely. Finally we ate a chocolate mousse. That too was delicious. All in all a great experience. My compliments to the staff and especially the chefs who create these works of art.

If you are Americans, this is not the level of service for you.

Wow 10/10 to that place . One of the best meals I have in the city … I highly recommends. Impressed with the quality, tasty and service.

Visited your establishment today and were very disappointed with the attitude of the staff, first my family and I were seated at a table, drinks were brought, then they asked if we had reserved a table, we said no, and we were asked to leave! Is this a normal practice for you?

Had dinner at Visque last Friday. First in and last out! What a wonderful thing.

One of the best dinners we’ve ever had, with each of the five starters we had blowing our minds with every bite. We couldn’t pick a favorite out of the divine lobster bisque, the scallops with rendang, the langoustine with zucchini and hollandaise, and the hamachi crudo - they all provided an explosion of flavors. The tuna carpaccio was excellent as well, but we’d recommend picking one of the other more unique combinations. As mains, we tried the famous tuna wellington - it lived up to the hype! The service was friendly and the atmosphere great. Don’t miss this spot in Amsterdam!

We are now almost a part of the inventory of Visque, probably habitues and patrons, since we cannot resist coming back. Visque and its staff, menu and wine list have all saved our moments of celebration many times, as well as they save saved us during the boredom of Corona-lockdowns! Even if the menu requires one to be monetarily well-prepared, it's worth it over and over again, so don't miss!

We had dinner with our new neighbors at our Voogd Makelaardij office. The food was very good and the service very friendly. Highly recommended! We will certainly come and eat with our neighbors more often.

Yesterday we had dinner with friends with whom we dine out regularly at Visque. At first glance the menu had changed and we missed one of our favourites. Looking further and with advice from Staff we decided on a few of the new dishes. What a feast. They all were incredible good. So we forgive the change of the menu and will soon be back

Excellent food. We arrived quite late for the Netherlands (20h30) and they still accepted us even without a reservation. We recommend.

Some dishes can change your life. Sometimes it's the lukewarm 3am kebab that sobers you up just enough to question whether necking 6 pints on a Wednesday is really sustainable this deep into your 30s. But other times it's the first bite of a delightfully tender tuna wellington wrapped in a light, crispy pastry that makes you realise that fish can never be your friends if they taste this good as food. Visque takes some classics and elevates them. The scallops with rendang are perhaps the best dish this side of the Serengeti, and nothing is quite as joyful as getting a Cornetto served to you on a plate as a dessert. 5 stars, will be coming again and again.

Together with friends we enjoyed dinner at Visque in Amsterdam. We received a friendly welcome and were a bit early so we had to wait for our friends. Once we arrived we opted for a number of sharing appetizers. I chose the mussels as a starter, which unfortunately were served as a main course with fries. Then I enjoyed a perfectly cooked sole, just the right size at 250/300 grams. The ending with warm madeleines from the oven and chocolate truffles was delicious. The staff were polite and attentive, but perhaps a little lacking in the extra 'wow' factor that would make the experience truly memorable. Still, we enjoyed the cozy atmosphere and the company of our friends. All in all an excellent experience.

The sister restaurant to the nearby fishmonger is a gem! Perfectly sized venue with an open kitchen, a concise menu, and a selection of good wines. The staff is knowledgeable and attentive. The innovative Tuna Wellington is a mouthwatering experience, and the sole is equally fantastic. If you appreciate Anthony Bourdain's vibe, this place adds an extra layer of enjoyment to your dining experience. A must-try for food enthusiasts!

Gisterenmiddag binnen gelopen om iets te eten ,keuken nog niet open reservering gemaakt . Bij binnenkomst goed en vriendelijk ontvangen. Wij hebben de chef alle voorgerechten laten maken ,want we konden niet kiezen. Alles was echt Super. Later toch nog een hoofdgerecht besteld (favoriet gerecht van de chef) ook deze was super. Zalige wijnen. We hebben een super avond gehad. En komen zeker vaker eten en drinken

The menu on their site isn’t up-to-date so we ended up being caught off guard by the new, higher pricing of the food. Nearly 40€ for a piece of fish and some salad? Come on. We had the oysters & fried calamari as starters- calamari was tasty. We also ordered the vongole & felt disappointed. When you hear vongole the first thing that comes to the lay person’s mind is pasta with clams & beurre blanc. Even though the sauce was tasty, there was no pasta, but more disappointingly half the clams we were served were empty - not ok for that price. The staff were also not the most hospitable. There are many seafood restaurants in Amsterdam that outperform this spot in terms of price-quality. Not enough flair in the food to match the price tag. I wouldn’t return.

This was our first trip to Amsterdam and a short walk from the Hilton Amsterdam. Our waiter, David, listened carefully to our many questions and responded professionally and appropriately. My husband had the Cod and I had the ribeye, both cooked perfectly. The finest beef I've had in years. Make reservations as seating is limited and it was full when we left at 7:15 pm on a rainy Oct Friday. Highly recommend.

Gisteren voor het eerst hier gegeten 🍽 en wat een heerlijke avond hebben we gehad het eten was heerlijk 👌 en de bediening was ook heel attent en vriendelijk 🤩 super leuke ambiance en heerlijke muziek op de achtergrond 🎶 we komen zeker terug en zou iedereen aanraden om hier te gaan eten!

Leuk restaurant op een fijne locatie. Mooie gerechten op de kaart. Het eten was onwijs goed en we werden vriendelijk bediend. Tuna wellington en de zeetong zijn aan te raden, desserts overigens ook. Wij komen zeker nog een keer terug.

Always feels like coming home! Great service, the food is delicious as well. Try the Tuna Wellington, of course the oysters and any other fish. They've got a nice bar and some extra seating in the basement as well which is great and cosy. The terrace is sweet too. Also, the fact that they have a huge portrait of Anthony Bourdain is a huge bonus.

Wat een fantastisch restaurant. Kreeg spontaan kippenvel van de ravioli met kreeft. Bijpassende wijn perfect in balans. Ook hoofdgerecht was top. Echt een verassing en genot om hier te eten.

Our friends took us here for dinner. Great service and great food. We got raw oysters to start, and they were absolutely delicious. For our mains, my hubby got the tuna wellington, and I got the dover Sole. Both dishes tasted fresh and were perfectly cooked. The sole was light and tender. A dinner reservation is recommended!
