The pizzas aren't great, but the service is good, the atmosphere is good, and the cocktails are good.

A very disappointing visit! The service was poor and inattentive, and our group of 11 was ushered out of the restaurant after only 1.5 hours. There was plastic in the dessert, and the cheesecake was frozen solid. Furthermore, the waiter was very pushy.

Terrible service. We had to wait ages for the menu, and before we even received it, we were offered dessert. Appetizer cutlery was taken from the plate and then put back on the table by the waiter. The seafood spaghetti was of the lowest quality frozen product, yet it was priced like fresh. Wine glasses weren't replaced after we ordered a different wine. The bill was placed on the table without us asking, and two minutes later the waiter came back demanding payment. Unless you have absolutely no other option, I would avoid this restaurant.

We got 2 pasta one pizza and one soup everything was delicious, the place was really beautiful the service was nice!

Italian restaurant with very good food and service. The only downside was this: we asked the waiter who served us as soon as we entered if they spoke Spanish, and he started laughing and making fun of us for a while. Then another very nice waiter served us. When we finished, the first waiter asked if we wanted dessert; we said no, and he got angry. We asked for the bill, and when he brought it, he threw some candy on the table and demanded a tip. However, the food was very good, and the quality-price ratio was good; a good place to eat. Maybe he doesn't like Spaniards, I don't know.

Everything would have been fine if an extra item we didn’t order hadn’t been added to our bill — and it turned out to be the most expensive one. We were happy with both the food and the service, but having to pay an extra €23 really disappointed us.

If you know anything about Italian food, you would give this a 1 star. The pizzas are so average, the service is horrendous and the staff members try and make up for the poor food by giving you a disgusting shot. Ignore other reviews - not again.

Nice restaurant, good pizzas, and delicious lasagna. Friendly staff. Only the lasagna was a bit small. But with a starter and dessert, we were quite full. Teramisu is highly recommended!

my favourite restaurant in Amsterdam !

The staff were unbelievably rude snd impolite. When i arrived, there was sbsolutely no one in. I put my bag on the seat and went to wash hands, after i returned i sat on another table. The waiter came with an angry face saying " next time you should ask me when you want to change the table"! Hey there, you need to talk with your customer with more respect. I think it is the restaurant manager who needs to be blamed, as i noticed all other waiters were in same mood. The high rating is completely made up! Read other reviews you will find out

Besides buongiorno and buonasera, there were few Italians in sight. They were unfriendly and lacked tact. The food was okay, but the overall experience is more than just the food.

We had an amazing, fabulous time at Papa Carlos. Friendly staff, lovely vibes and atmosphere. We came from Scotland and will definitely come again.

Quite decent food. Nothing special. A little over the normal price for the quality of the food and experience. Feels more like a fast food Italian restaurant. Noise level is good even though there were a lot of people eating.

I honestly have never experienced anything like this in real life — only in movies. The waiter was shockingly rude from the moment we sat down. No greeting, no smile, just attitude for absolutely no reason. When we asked a simple question about the menu, he sighed loudly and acted like we were inconveniencing him. It was uncomfortable and honestly embarrassing. The food was actually good, just a bit overpriced — but even that couldn’t make up for how uncomfortable the service made the experience. I’ve eaten in plenty of places, good and bad, but this was on another level. I don’t know if he was having a bad day or if this is just how staff are trained here, but either way, it was unacceptable.

Very nice restaurant, delicious pizza's/pasta's for a reasonable price and most of all very friendly, hospitable and flexible staff! We came with a group of kids (rather noisy...) but nothing seemed to bother the staff, they were so polite and nice!

Kitchen apparently lost our order, so food took ages. When it arrived pizza was dry and the salad was plain. Maybe we were unlucky.

The food was okay. The service, unfortunately, was terrible. Some guests were moved three times because they hadn't planned the tables properly. We were then kicked out because the next people were already there, even though we hadn't finished our drinks.

The food was truly awful. And expensive too. Two pastas and one pizza cost almost 60 euros. I had penne with truffle. I think the truffle was forgotten; it was just covered in green goo. The pizza tasted old and cold. I say, go ahead!

Nice little Italian restaurant. The food is delicious for a reasonable price. The spaghetti bolognese was very tasty. The penne pollo and lasagna were delicious. A very fresh, large portion of tiramisu and a real Italian cappuccino. All four of us were pleasantly surprised.

Funny story actually. When I planned our trip I had bookmarked and actually made a reservation at the restaurant next door (Cafe Piazza). As it turns out, we were so tired from museums and walking that we actually walked into Papa Carlo thinking it was the other restaurant And what a great coincidence. The pizza and pasta dishes are large and flavorful. The staff was very appreciative and although we were dining early (about 6 PM), the restaurant only had a few other people. And that’s a shame. They served us an incredibly beautifully plated dessert that was awesome. I’d love to show you but my wife hates when I post her face and since it was our anniversary, I took the picture with her holding it up. But take my word for it. Excellent find and we’d even go back next year which says a lot given the thousands of dining choices in Amsterdam.

When we came in there was no waiter in sight, we heard people arguing, it took around 5 minutes for a waiter to appear, the staff wasnt really nice to us, the pizza had unchewable meat and wss really dry, the interior looked old (in a bad way), so please DO NOT go to this restaurant.

The food was delicious and authentic, and Nadia — our lovely Greek waitress — made everything even better with her warmth and charm. Highly recommended!

The chicken pasta was a 10. The pizza was thin and delicious.

The service was a terrible disappointment: after waiting a long time for our dishes, we started clearing the table before everyone else had finished. It was barely 10 p.m., and we felt pushed out, without being offered dessert. The server mocked us by categorically refusing to split the bill (at least in two) of almost 300 euros, even though he had agreed to do so for the previous table (locals?). Food: Expensive for the limited side dishes (the diavola is particularly light on top). Prices are high. In short, a dismal experience that leaves a bitter taste.

We had a good experience in terms of service and food quality. Good place for authentic casual Italian food with an Italian waiter who likes to joke around. All in all pleasant experience and would go back.

Highly recommended! Super delicious pizzas. We didn't have to wait long even though the place was packed. We were lucky to get a seat right away, but otherwise, reservations are required unless you don't mind waiting a bit for a table to become available. The restroom could use a refresh.

A very good Italian restaurant. Great, friendly service. Wishes are fulfilled. Excellent value for money. The food is of very good quality, the pizza base sags, as it should. The ingredients are very good. The homemade tiramisu is very, very good. The takeaway is also excellent. A clear recommendation.

The restaurant is nicely decorated. However, the pizzas are overpriced. Honestly, it tasted like frozen pizza... Unfortunately, the waiter wasn't able to write down the correct dishes and brought us too many. The highlight was a Coke we ordered, which tasted like water and was served in a beer glass to overcharge... Never again! Tourist trap! The waiter was quite pushy at a neighboring table, where two women were sitting. He kissed one of the women on the cheek and demanded good reviews.

It's obvious the food isn't fresh and is reheated. Plus, I asked the waiter for tap water, and he wouldn't give it to me. He charged me 6 euros for the bottle.

A bit disappointed, was expecting better based on the reviews ! I took scalopina Gorgonzola which came with salade and French fries ! I had never seen that in Italie! The French fries tested like old oil, and salade with corn and cucumber …

Not the best. Carbonara spaghetti was good, but the bread they served was dry, old and hard. Asked for some butter..nope. Just olive oil but did not bring any small plate to pour. Had my wine and once done no one cares to ask if I wanted more. Just had the waitress looking and not caring. Could be much better...

The pizza was delicious, but I've had better. The incredibly pushy staff is really annoying. Clearing the table and taking away plates while there are still 3 or 4 slices of pizza on them is ridiculous. They took away two almost half-sized pizzas while we were still eating.

The Bolognese pasta is very well done (good quantity and quality), the pizzas are delicious with a thin crust and not too greasy.

Very friendly staff, no doubt about that. The Pizza Vegetariana, however, felt more like a raw veggie platter on dough – the toppings seemed fresh from the chopping board. The mozzarella was more like a chewing gum, which doesn’t scream quality. And the tables are packed so tightly, you have to move furniture just to get off the bench.

We arrived early for dinner and enjoyed a quiet restaurant before the rush. Very kind service, food was so yummy! The carbonara was amazing, and they were able to accommodate my daughter who is a picky eater. Highly recommend!
