Very slowly service. We waited almost one hour for a pizza. The taste is good and price is reasonable but long waiting is unacceptable

Food was very tasty but the waiter was so so unfriendly. Made such a bad impression with his hole in his shirt. He immediately picked up the plates right after the last forkful while we still had food in our mouths. He simply threw the glasses and the bill onto the table - for no reason. Was very funny.

20 euro pasta that was not worth 20 euro. Definitely a tourist trap.

The food was below average and certainly not worth what we paid. To be honest, I'd not eat there even if it was cheaper. The general atmosphere was lacking and for some reason, heavy metal was being played from the TV - in a restaurant that was trying to achieve an Italian restaurant feel this just didn't set the right mood. In addition to this, the attitude of the servers made us feel like they were just trying to turn tables with no regard for the general experience.

Food was okey, but risotto was wrongly cooked, don’t order it if you hope for the authentic taste

We made a reservation for 2 on 1/1/25 however when we arrived the staff had no record of this. We seen this happen with another group of 6 who were then asked to wait 45 minutes for a table that they had already booked. 4 people walked into the restaurant however there was no space, the waitress went over to a table of 2 that were already eating and asked them to move to a smaller table in order to fit the bigger table in. Didn’t seem very professional asking paying customers move mid meal. A group sat at the window were rushed out as they wanted the table free for a different group that had just walked in. I was aware of this even though I was sat at the opposite side of the restaurant. A couple sat next to us and they got the order wrong which resulted in the man waiting on his order and his wife was finished by the time his came. No apology from waiter that served them. My partner and I love Italian and were pretty disappointed. We ordered bruschetta which was fine and then the tenderloin starter which wasn’t so fine and was barely eaten. When starters were cleared waiter didn’t ask if everything was okay just picked up the plates and left. For mains we had pizza and spaghetti, spaghetti didn’t have much flavour however a different man came to clear our table (bald man with glasses) he asked if it was okay and I explained this to him, he kindly removed this item from the bill. The man stated above was the only attentive member of staff who seemed to have a bit of control of what was going on, I assume he was maybe the manager? From working in hospitality myself this was a disappointing experience and just seemed like a poorly run restaurant unfortunately, it felt like the staff didn’t really know what was going on and didn’t really care either. This seemed to be clear to everyone in the restaurant at the time. Memebers of staff were also shouting across the restaurant to eachother 🤦🏼‍♀️ Our bill came to be more expensive than the steakhouse we had been to the night previously which we were shocked at also. Overall I wouldn’t recommend, which is a pity as i thought we were in for a good experience based on the reviews.

Waiters weren’t kind at all and it felt like my boyfriend and I were treated completely different if to compare to other guests. We had the reservation but the table wasn’t ready in time, so we had to wait for it. The price for a meal doesn’t worth it at all and if they put the numbers in the menu, would be not bad if they know them. My pasta wasn’t salted and I had to salt by myself a lot because it was tasteless. When we ask to take away the rest, the waiter put a used paper on a top of it just in front of us. In the end, when my boyfriend paid, we didn’t get candy like others. Of course it’s not about me wanting this candy so badly, but the whole experience in this place gave me the feeling that we were treated different. Can’t recommend this restaurant.

We had a reservation and called 10 minutes before our scheduled time to inform them we would be running 10 minutes late because we got lost. Initially, they claimed we didn’t have a reservation, but after checking, they confirmed it was fine. When we arrived 12 minutes late, they told us our table had been given away and that we would have to wait. After waiting for about 10 minutes, we were finally seated. We sat down around 8:25 PM, ordered our dishes promptly, and then were told we only had 30–35 minutes before we would need to leave. This was extremely disappointing, as they didn’t inform us of this time constraint beforehand. To make matters worse, the waitstaff took our plates immediately after we finished our last bites and kept checking our wine bottle, seemingly eager to remove it as soon as it was empty. This made us feel rushed and uncomfortable. In total, we were there for just 35 minutes, and the overall experience left us feeling pressured and unwelcome.

Terrible service. The waiter was crazy and gave us a dish that we didn't order and refused to charge us for it.

The pizza was OK, and we got enough. Unfortunately, the service was very bad and disorganized. Despite having a reservation, we were told several times that we only had one hour, then the next people would come. We had barely eaten the pizza when the bill was brought and the half-full glasses were taken away.

Restaurant on December 31, arrival 6 minutes early, we had reserved for 8 p.m., the manager welcomed us "the appointment is 8 p.m. not before", not very cool. He still brought the women inside and the men stayed outside, well why not? We see that he asks a table to finish their dessert and quickly dispatches them by bringing the bill at the same time as the desserts and cleaning the table where they were, really borderline behavior. The waiter then tried to be humorous, but you get used to it. Small words are taped to the candles (which are difficult to stick and risk of fire) "if you can pay cash, yes ☺️" The ordering went well, we re-validated the order for 8 people. The plates were served quickly and everything was very well arranged on the plate, impeccable A waiter returns with another plate not ordered, we send it back, stipulate that we did not order this dish, the waiter leaves. The person who took the order comes to see us to say that we ordered this dish. There are 8 of us who said no and validated the order with him. He takes responsibility for the error After a somewhat complicated start, things are going well. The pizzas were good The Bolognese pasta: I found it good but there were a lot of details to improve, the minced meat, there was almost none The tomato sauce 🍅 clear, Presence of bacon, why not but it's not the traditional recipe. Where I find it to be excessive is for the extra "3 euro" parmesan for the small ramekin. Come the time to ask for the dessert menu Are we left with the bill!!!!!! An error? Well he came back with the dessert menu, but he had the impression that the deserts were served quickly (frozen) while some tables had received homemade desserts. Following all the Alèa of the meal, we decide to stop the costs and we pay the bill. The prices of the dishes are correct but the extras they add can increase the bill

Surprising culinary experience. Stopped by with my family for dinner. The pizza is very good and the dough is delicate and very very good. Another surprise was the lasagna Bolognese, tasty and abundant... as well as the penne all'arrabbiata... and to conclude a nice tiramisu, which, given how large it was, we split in two.... I forgot the coffee. ..this is also delicious. The staff is very friendly and fun. You immediately feel at ease. We ate really well. If you pass by here... I highly recommend it

I ate here with my mom, we had a delicious meal. Both the penne with chicken and the lasagna carne were amazing. The deserts, panna cotta and chocolate glace were also beautiful looking and delicious. All the staff were very friendly and welcoming too. Great experience & we'll be sure to come back during our next trip to Amsterdam!

Clearly not run by Italians. The food was of average quality and overpriced. We asked for a caffè macchiato, but she brought a latte macchiato instead. When we requested an espresso macchiato, she became rude and argumentative. I would definitely not recommend this place!

My husband and I recently dined at Ristorante, Papa Carlo. We were thoroughly impressed with the entire experience. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm welcomes and were seated promptly. The ambience is cozy and elegant, and perfect for a relaxing meal after a long day of work. The menu is very diverse and offers something for everyone. Our appetizer was bigger than anything we could have expected and so delicious! Our server was extremely friendly And attentive, and made excellent recommendations. They made sure our entire experience was smooth and enjoyable. On top of it all our dessert was delicious! The perfect ending to a fantastic meal. This restaurant exceeded my expectations and when I return to Amsterdam, I will definitely be going back!

Great Italian restaurant, truly authentic food, a party of 9, we made a reservation on open table 2 hours before on a Saturday night and were accommodated. The lasagna was delicious, their burrata and caprese were also very good.

Lovely and cozy restaurant. I ordered risotto, And it was incredibly delicious, the portion was huge, I had to take half of it with me! The staff is very attentive and friendly, despite my bad day, they melted my heart, I am very happy with this place. I advise everyone!

The restaurant is located in one of the most beautiful places in Amsterdam, is very nicely decorated, has very friendly and interested staff and the food is of very good quality and therefore very tasty!

Crappy food, not fresh, straight from the freezer. But worse still; no form of hospitality. Always ask if you have already been able to make a choice, starter and main course immediately on the table. We ordered the last drink and then told the staff to catch the train (at half past 11). This restaurant wants to earn a lot and give little. And the saying goes; that makes the fool live in joy. The fact that the atmosphere gets a slightly better rating is purely due to our own company. If you're considering Papa Carlo, don't! Go to the snack bar further away (better food and a lot cheaper) and have a few drinks in a cozy pub further away. Arrivederci!

We were hungry after a long day of sightseeing and we enjoyed ourselves in this restaurant. The pizzas were very good, the same for the wine. The only negative point is we felt a bit rushed to leave the table and leave it for the next customers. Other than that, great restaurant.

What a disappointment! It was bad from the getgo. I saw pasta carbonera, and I asked the waitress: it's not with cream, is it! She told me that usually to do use cream, and also garlic. Terrible. Then I oreder a salad, and got me something else. When I finally got my salad, it was depressing. A bit a lettuce with 1 quartered tomato and half a ball of mozzerella, not even cut, and also not real mozzerella. There was supposed to be some pestosauce but was missing. It all tasted pretty stale, I needed to add salt and pepper to get some taste. Then I had the lasagna with salmon. It was not fresh, blend, again an ingredient missing. When I told the waitress, instead an apology, I got a wisecrack! And the ice cream, or at least it was called ice cream. This was like frozen water, with a whif of banana. Again, terrible. And the service, then never asked us once of everything was okay, which it wasn't. Everything was shockinly bad! Don't go there, it's pretty expensive too but the food is terrible, and an insult to Italy.

The restaurant offers fair prices for Amsterdam, but the food was just average. Unfortunately, our experience was heavily influenced by inappropriate jokes from the waiter, which made us, as feminists, very uncomfortable. Rather than bringing joy, the call to smile increased our discomfort. The situation at the checkout was particularly problematic: the waiter urged the person paying by card to show their cell phone to ensure that the payment was deducted correctly. Despite repeated references to the need for discretion, he unabashedly looked at his cell phone. The female waitress also wanted to have access to it, which made it perfect for us. We decided to leave the restaurant. It's a shame because the service should be better.
