We love Ron’s Oriental- it’s our favorite go to when we are in Amsterdam. The food, the atmosphere, the service - are all wonderful. We love the variety and the flavors - just good comfort food that soothes the soul and nourishes the body. We had multiple food experiences and relived lots of our memories from various countries in Asia thanks to Ron’s oriental food. Very recommended if you fancy a good meal, and good service while in Amsterdam.

The food is truly fantastic without being pretentious. Service is great and the staff is knowledgeable. 2nd time we ate here and although on first glance it appears to be expensive, it really isn't if you compare the quality to similar or even higher-priced restaurants.

Weirdly they first hand out the drinks & starters menu before showing you the full one, so you may want to ask for the full menu before making your order. I recommend the Peking duck special and the spinach salad.

Price-quality ratio not in balance. Very pricey for simple snacks. Almost all snacks had the same garnish and you can go for these prices expect more interesting dishes. Cocktails otherwise top notch. I wouldn't go back for the food and ambiance.

DO NOT skip, amazing food, perfectly well balanced and combined flavors and textures. True gastronomic experience. 10/10

Again ,eating here at Ron Gastro Bar never dissapoint us ,the Rice table is yum. But the only missing here is the Sambal from the Ouderkerk ( 3 types of sambal in the Ouderkerk are phenomenal-:) Ohhhh the dessert “ KACANG BESAR” is adorable and tasty

Had dinner here tonight, unfortunately it was disappointing on several levels. First the food. The flavors of the dishes were very flat. The Satay Ayam had a somewhat sweet taste which I did not like and the whole thing just had little taste. The cod in coconut sauce was a bit more surprising because I discovered a smoky flavor that was tasty. The dessert, peanut salted caramel and chocolate, was disappointing. A bit of ice cream with caramel and chocolate mousse in the shape of a peanut. I missed some texture in the mouse. Secondly, why scented sticks in a restaurant?! It smelled very perfumey! This affects the taste of the food! Smell and taste are connected. Thirdly, the service, very friendly, felt rather rehearsed and sincere. Except for the waiter who served the dishes, he explained well what everything was and also made eye contact and smiled friendly. The fourth and final point is the price-quality ratio. As far as I'm concerned, it's missing, I'm not a big eater, but the portions are very small. Overall a disappointing experience. No idea what the experience would have been like at one of the other Ron Blauw restaurants??

We recently booked this location with a group. We had an excellent meal. The Dim Sum variation in particular was fantastic.

Wir waren zum zweiten mal da und haben dieses mal als Paar dieses mal das Menü mit der Peking Ente gewählt. Die Dim Sums als Vorspeise waren sehr lecker und originell. Die Ente war zwar sehr gut gegart, aber nicht wirklich spektakulär, sodass es einem länger in Erinnerung bleibt. Bei unserem ersten Besuch vor ein paar Jahren hatten wir Fisch, der mich nachhaltiger beeindruckt hat. Der Service war freundlich und zuvorkommend, die Lautstärke der Musik für meinen Geschmack etwas laut, da es nicht nur eine Bar beherbergt, sondern eben auch gehobene Küche serviert. Es passt aber auf der anderen Seite schon zum eher trendigen Ambiente. Insgesamt sicherlich einen Besuch wert, aber wir werden beim nächsten mal etwas anderes ausprobieren, dass geschmacklich vielleicht mehr überrascht in dieser Preiskategorie, die Auswahl ist in Amsterdam ja groß genug.

We visited this restaurant for a birthday meal. We had a lovely time the quality of the food was great and the atmosphere was great. Worth a visit.

Enjoyed the menu rouge (Chinese touch): delicious, 3 different dim sum, then excellent crispy Beijing duck with excellent side dishes. Desert okay. The white wines served were ideal, and generously poured! Service fine. Price acceptable.

As an Asian, At first I was having doubt since I was a bit skeptical about it, but it turned out that the food they make is very inspiring and creative! The taste and texture are one of the best comparing to other Asian restaurants. The atmosphere portrays some sort of old Shanghai vibe to me…😂

Aziatische smaken met top producten. Alle gerechtjes worden op een originele manier gebracht. Zaten aan de toog wat wel een extra pluspunt is qua ervaring.

A very special place with absolutely delicious crafted asian meals! For 50€ per person we got an apetizer, 2 kinds of dim sum (that was our favourite), 2 mains and 2 drinks. We enjoyed our food and great service, highly recommend this place for all asian cousine lovers!

Enjoyed a delicious Indian rice table at this place. The edamame beans in chili and garlic were a personal favorite. Into bubbles? I can highly recommend Emily in Bangkok.

For a one star Michelin restaurant, it was utterly disappointing. Food was missing a wow factor at best and were poorly executed, at worst ( the beef wellington had salad in the wrap, making the outside dough to become soggy) Overall very expensive and not worth it Giving it two stars only thanks to the rice pudding

What a nice experience! We had reserved a spot at the bar, so we could get an overview of the whole place and enjoy the bartender's skills. The food is very good, we started with a number of starters and everything was equally tasty and tasty. Then tried some other dishes and we were not disappointed. The alcohol-free cocktails are incredibly tasty and look beautiful. The service is nice, attentive and helpful. We will definitely come back, highly recommended!

really good service, cannot say the same for the food

On Christmas Day 2023 we celebrated our son's birthday here. After waiting some time at the entrance, our coats, soaking wet from the rain, were hung up on top of each other. Handy, then they are also wet on the inside. The cocktails were fine. The wine we selected turned out to be the highlight of the evening, which mainly consisted of waiting. After receiving a few dishes belonging to the main course, we were asked if we wanted to see the dessert menu. We would first like to see the ordered dishes on the table. By the way, they weren't that bad at all. Most of it arrived on the table barely or not at all warm. The satay on an ice-cold grill (meant to 'smoke' the meat a bit, if the coals weren't working) was almost laughable with that cold meat. When we needed desserts it was not easy to get the dessert menu. A big stroke of luck, however, was that a singer, who was amplified quite loudly and sang several ABBA songs quite out of tune (to the surprise and amusement of all the guests on the first floor) did not return after one intermezzo. At the request of Ron Gastrobar, I shared this experience with them. The response: "It's a pity that things did not meet expectations. We hope to see you again soon." Mind blow.

Great restaurant. Was recommended to us by a friend. The food was delicious (especially the shrimp curry) and service was fab. The only minor comment would be the music was a little too loud. We are in our early 30’s, but even for us we felt it was a little loud. Other than that, top marks.

Toprestaurant, top bediening en super sfeervol. Eten echt goddelijk. Tafel geboekt in de shift van 18.00 uur. Mochten eigenlijk maar 2,5 uur blijven (tot 20.30 uur), maar uiteindelijk met cocktails tot laat op de avond kunnen blijven zitten. Echt niets dan lof.

Eten echt heel erg goed! Maar matig dat er niet bij de gerechten en dim sums werd verteld wat het was. Werd bij een aantal gangen neergezet zonder wat te zeggen (voor en nagerecht niet, hoofdgerecht was goed). Verder rook het alsof de afzuiging stuk was.

Overall good but for the price, 150euro, missing the wow factor. Was not just us but many tables the same , service of the food was slow which meant we did not have time for dessert . We had two bites , and 4 dishes. Nothing really bad with the food but we were expecting something special , for the price, what saved the food was the sauces, but it was missing the wow factor . Service, atmosphere and decor were good.

Visited this place 3-d time during last several years an this guys keep they bar on highest level. Since my last visit I've converted to vegan and was surprised that here I can have really interesting vegan option too. Even ice-cream was there for me.

Heerlijk gegeten. Niet echt Indisch, wel verrassend. Bleek dat je twee uur de tijd kreeg, vandaar het behoorlijke tempo van opdienen.

To start with the good part: the service was impeccable. Very friendly and charming. But they can‘t fix the problem in the kitchen respectively the pricing. Since four days we (3 adults) have been eating in a Michelin star decorated restaurant or in restaurants recommended by Michelin. Very much to our satisfaction. The food served at Ron‘s Oriental Gastrobar was average at best, based on my experience with (pan)Asian cuisine. I have had far better hoisin sauces in cheaper places. The dim sums didn’t have a great taste at all. The (starters) aubergine was rather dry. No extraordinary taste. But the negative highlight was the Peking duck for 99€. They serve two little duck breasts with some additional skin and (for two, and to be fair they said from the start that those aren‘t big portions). No comparison neither in taste nor volume of the whole dish with Peking duck I had in Taipeh or Berlin. Normally I trust Michelin suggestions but this is the first time I was really disappointed that they selected this place at all. Again: the service was lovely and the exotic ambience might please the international crowd. But I cannot recommend the food with its poor cost/performance ratio. Simply overhyped.

We got a table for 10 person very last minute for a team dinner and had the best time! Beautiful atmosphere and the staff was so attentive and friendly. Our menu for the whole table was AMAZING - truly just delicious. Thanks for the lovely time. Will definitely be back.

🍽️Ресторан, в который давно хотел прийти и попробовать, ожидания оправдались, ничего особенного, ресторан в который не хочется вернуться. Цена не соответствует качеству. Шумно. Персонал старается, но не справляется, забывая некоторые позиции. Лучшие dim sum в Амстердаме? Спасибо, но точно нет. Пробуйте и делайте свои выводы, потому что у ресторана есть фанаты и те, кому всё нравится

Heerlijke avond, eten was geweldig, dankzij het keukenteam ook met Eva dank je wel voor alle goede zorgen. Zonder jou zou het geen succes zijn. Met jou erbij halen we het uiterste uit onszelf. Dank je wel om een vriend te zien, dank je wel voor jouw vriendschap.

Heerlijk eten (met name de peking eend en spinazie salade) en geweldige service. Vriendelijke dame :)

לקחנו ארוחה מובנית בסגנון סיני,הדים סאם היה מעולה,הירקות בטמפורה נהדרים ועדינים,אדממה עם רוטב נהדר,ברווז קריספי משגע בקיצור היה מושלם!

Been twice - both times extremely slow service and forgotten or incorrect dishes. Food is good but for the price the experience is not great.

Via restaurantweek hebben wij vanuit het menu als voorgerecht: aubergine en enoki beef geprobeerd. Aubergine was lekker knapperig van buiten en zacht van binnen. De crust was vol van verschillende kruiden. Enoki beef had lekkere saus, maar de beef werd daardoor iets aan de zoutige kant en was beetje doorgebakken. Hoofdgerecht was dorade filet met Hongkong saus. Saus was voor mij te overheersend waardoor de dorade filet, wat licht gefrituurd was, minder goed te proeven was. Als afsluiter kregen wij supersoft (-ijs) met bananen smaak. Textuur was goed, anders dan wat je gewend bent van een softijs en banaan smaak was goed aanwezig. Karamel maakte het wat extra zoet, maar qua hoeveelheid goed gedoseerd. Menu van 3 gangen voor €45 per persoon. Cocktail die ik genomen had was melon madness van €14,50. Daarnaast nog flesje plat water erbij.

Overall it’s good for an interesting oriental food experience with nice environment and service. I ordered Waugh Siu Mai, shrimp dumpling and fried rice with shrimp paste. The Siu Mai and dumpling were traditional in the format but the inside was a bit modified, they tasted good but the Mayonnaise was absolutely not necessary in the dish, they hid the flavor of the dish itself, so I’ll ask to not add it next time. The service was absolutely nice, I had a warm talk with the crew, hope I’ll see u next time.

Veel geld voor heel weinig.... 100% overpriced! Muziek genre paste beter bij een restaurant ergens in de Caraïben.. Lang wachten, herhaaldelijk om chopsticks moeten vragen. Wijn prijzen sky high!! Goedkoopste wit op de kaart €50 (gemiddelde prijs voor dit flesje €8,50) Deze werd overigens ook nog voor een hogere prijs in rekening gebracht... Wij verheugde ons op een heerlijk avondje... Helaas

Very kind service, ambient too noisy, music too loud, difficult to have a normal conversation, which is what you normally do in a restaurant. They ask an amount in advance just to reserve a table. I find that honestly not appropriate.

Wir hatten aus Versehen im falschen Ron Gastrobar reserviert. Wie das Personal reagierte war wirklich außergewöhnlich. Wir bekamen trotzdem sofort Sitzmöglichkeiten im ausgebuchten Restaurant an der Bar, um dort zu essen. Der Restaurantmanager kümmerte sich sofort um die Stornierung der geleisteten Reservierungsgebühr und wir hatten einen wirklich großartigen kulinarischen Abend mit tollem Service und Cocktails u.a. von einem wirklich aufmerksamen und zuvorkommenden Barkeeper.

My husband and I recently embarked on a delightful culinary adventure at Ron Gastrobar Oriental Downtown in Amsterdam, and it turned out to be a memorable experience that exceeded our expectations. After days of indulging in Dutch and other European cuisines, we sought something more exotic and were drawn to this restaurant based on its Michelin guide recommendation. From the moment we stepped inside, we knew we were in for a treat. The dim sum tasting menu was an excellent choice to kickstart our meal. Offering a selection of 6 chicken, shrimp, pork, and beef dim sums, each bite was a burst of flavors that left us wanting more. It was a delightful dilemma trying to decide which dim sum was the best, as they were all exquisitely crafted. For the main course, we opted to share our dishes family-style, a decision we did not regret. The first dish, the lemon chicken, was perfectly cooked, and the lemony tang added a refreshing twist. The spare ribs with leeks, cumin, and sweet chili were an explosion of taste that left our taste buds dancing in delight. To complement the meats, we ordered roasted broccoli with ponzu sauce and macadamia nuts, a unique and flavorful side dish that perfectly balanced the meal. Additionally, we savored the nasi goreng, a delicious Indonesian fried rice that further expanded our gastronomic horizons. When it came to drinks, our waiter, Thomas, proved to be a gem. His recommendation of the Palomita was spot-on, offering a refreshing blend of tequila, lime, grapefruit soda, and tajin spice that perfectly complemented the meal. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his gimlet with 5 spices and lime, so much so that he ordered a second one. The attentiveness and knowledge displayed by Thomas were truly commendable and added an extra layer of enjoyment to our dining experience. Aside from the culinary delights, we also had the pleasure of interacting with the hostess, who was warm and welcoming. Her friendly demeanor set the tone for the rest of the evening, making us feel like valued guests throughout our visit. In summary, Ron Gastrobar Oriental Downtown proved to be a hidden gem in Amsterdam's culinary scene. The diverse and flavorful dishes showcased their chefs' talent and passion for creating authentic Asian flavors. Lekker gegeten maar wel over-priced. Voor deze prijzen mag je meer verwachten. Saté viel tegen, te droog en wat flauw. Spare ribs en garnalen erg lekker. Peking eend ook lekker maar € 95 echt te veel dat is het niet waard. Zo lekker was het ook weer niet. Nog een tip. We hadden tafel van 17 tot 19. Doordat de dim Sums pas na drie kwartier kwamen was er verder weinig tijd. Dessert moesten we aan de bar eten. Met een gratis koffie prima opgelost maar bij Max 2 uur moet het eten wel sneller komen

Expensive for what you get, extremely slow service (1.5 hours to get the appetizers served). The experience is not living up to the brand name. Some of the food items are tasty, but the Peking Duck is not worth 95 euros. They need to up their game if they want to be at that price point.

De zomer special genomen en deze was heerlijk! We kregen twee voorafjes, de uitgebreide rijsttafel en een dessert. We hadden gereserveerd maar bij aankomst was onze tafel nog niet klaar. Dit werd snel opgelost en we kregen een glaasje bubbels van het huis.

Unfortunately not the best food. Chicken sate was dry, overall in shrimps and nasi goreng the tamarind was overpowering. Wouldn’t recommend for this price class. Service nevertheless was really good.

Heerlijk gegeten wel was de tweede friet ronde wat laat waardoor andere eten koud werd. Bediening was erg vriendelijk
