AMAZING restaurant! My wife booked it for my birthday and they were super kind to bring us courtesy ice cream and take a Polaroid picture 💕 the food is amazing, every single course was mouthwatering and perfectly cooked, the wine pairings were awesome, and the waitresses were super knowledgeable and friendly. We’ll definitely be back.

This is a wonderful restaurant with a wide selection of dishes, all of which are delicious and fresh. The ambiance is beautiful, and the service is excellent.

I went there thinking it was going to be an amazing experience. Unfortunately, I left the restaraunt very displeased. Having ordered one Gastronomique menu and also one custom social dining menu. I had the chance to heavily assess a lot of dishes on the menu. The first course was pretty disappointing. The tuna and eel had a very strange taste, and had me second guessing whether I was eating Tuna or a pork cold cut, The veal entrecôte had a color of pink and white which is very strange. Only the mango prawns were very nice. Second course with the dim sum and the dumplings were nice. Third course, the orange duck was decent, but the final course truly disappointed me. The teriyaki chicken had an awful texture, completely rubber. The meat had a really strange taste, and the curry prawns had a really unpleasant smell. I would heavily advise to have the dishes reassessed, especially the ingredients. The staff were super friendly, and I felt genuinely guilty not finishing my food. This is my first time in my life, leaving a review and leaving a bad one. But I love the concept and would love for the restaurant to take on my advice, because I still believe with some adjustments in the food. This could be an absolute gem in the city.

We had the most expensive menu; the 58 euro seafood menu. Portions were incredibly small for the price, we left still hungry. The taste wasn’t exceptional and did NOT make up for the small portions. The waitress tried to make us get expensive drinks too. Felt scammed at the end. We basically spent 60 each for mid food and left hungry. I want my money back.

Excellent from welcome to paying the bill. Loads of choice: street food, gourmet menus, and a la carte choice. We had the menu choice explained by our waiter Cosmo (very enthusiastic, clear and eloquent). Ordered a mix of street food and enjoyed every bite. Will come back to try the social menu!! I was pleasantly surprised by how flexible they were with menu choices. All of our orders arrived on time without any confusion. They also offer great non-alcoholic cocktail options. We really enjoyed the food, and the explanations from the staff were clear and helpful

Wow!!!! Truly a beautiful, well-kept, and welcoming place. We had lunch with the family. We shared vegetable gyoza and a fish menu for two (there were three of us)...amazing. Then we had two fish ramen noodles and a rice dish with fish and vegetables. I can say that the lobster broth for the ramen was fantastic, and the quantity and quality of the fish was excellent, including salmon, shrimp, and prawns. A spritz and beer accompanied everything. The service was attentive and friendly. The bill was reasonable for the quality and quantity of the food. We left feeling very full and satisfied. We'll be back to try other dishes. Highly recommended!

Great place to relax with family and enjoy a delicious dinner. Many options to choose from, with the chance to taste different cuisines in smaller portions (up to 8 per person), including seafood, vegan, and meat dishes. Excellent service from Charlotte, who made us feel very welcome.

Seating way too crowded, was basically on top of the next table. Food was pretty good but not amazing. We had the 5 course menu (including dessert for around 60€) Clear problem was the waiting time: 15 mins to get the menus and 20 minutes between courses. A 4 course meal took 2 hours to be served throughout, really really slow.

We came to Han Umami for the first time, and our hostess, Charlotte, explained everything clearly. Thanks in part to the delicious food, we had a wonderful evening.

Such a hidden gem! Good portion with best quality of good. Beautiful interior design. Perfect place for first date or big groups. I had dinner alone but I fir perfectly in the atmosphere!! Cannot miss this one!!

Very nice Asian Fusion Restaurant that will give you what you expect. I was alone there, didn't have a reservation but got seated immediatelly. Staff was very friendly and took time to explain everything in detail. Service was great, it went very smooth and with no long waitings since I had a 3-course dinner, the timing for each course was perfect. The food itself was also amazing. Tasty, perfect size of portions.

We enjoyed the 3 course plus mid course extra plus a tea and wine pairing. Everything was absolutely worth it.

At first, I wouldn't have immediately fallen for Umami! I'd rather go for the standard pasta/pizza restaurants! We went for dinner anyway! And my girlfriend and I were truly amazed! We chose the Social Dining option and were allowed to choose three courses, each with four dishes! And, honestly, every course surprised us with a taste sensation! It's fusion cooking, so you get the most bizarre and incredibly delicious flavor combinations! If you're looking for a different and surprisingly flavorful evening, I can 100% recommend Umami! I'll definitely be back!

Visiting Amsterdam and because of an IG review I had chosen this as our “extra nice dinner”. I cannot express how disappointed I am with the service. We had reservations for 7:30 pm and arrived at 7:10, seated immediately. Great. Restaurant wasn’t busy. We waited 5-10 mins for someone to speak with us. The waiter took my boyfriend’s drink order and said he’d be back with the menus. Another 10 mins pass before a waitress came with the menus and explained to us what to do. After we gave our orders, there was a lot of wait time. I ordered the 3 course seafood meal & bf ordered the 4 course gastronomique meal. This. Took. Forever. We were there until 9:40 pm. The wait between courses was anywhere between 10-20 mins. No one came to check in between them. When I had the lobster, I needed to ask for wipes because no one was paying attention. We also had a stack of empty plates with lobster shells and a waitress came to remove the water bottle but left everything else. The bill also took a long time. We had to ask twice and while we were waiting the waitress cleared another full table, went to the back kitchen, and then back to the bar and socialized with another staff before finally bringing us the bill. I could see how this place has potential but the service was such a disappointment, that it’s upsetting I wasted the effort to trek it here on vacation, when stroopwaffles would have made me happier.

I visited this place last week and tried out the Seafood Menu. It has an appetizer and 3 courses with different seafood dishes. I really enjoyed it, the star of the show for me was the seabass. The place is beautiful and the service was good.

It wasn't too full, which didn't help the atmosphere, but other than that the atmosphere was fine. The staff could have spoken a bit louder, but otherwise it was a nice experience and the food was very tasty.

If you want to umami-max, come here. Get the seafood menu dinner. Oysters, Scallops, Cod fish. Lobster. Shrimp. Mussels. All set in tasteful broths. Yea we umami -maxxxed lol. Highly recommended.

I had a seafood clay pot rice and it has nothing to do with clay pot rice.. all the ingredients in the bowl are pre-prepared. the coconut curry sauce tastes the same as the soup base of my friend’s chicken ramen, just saltier. Pan-Asian style, sure, but come on guys.. we can do better than this

Really incredible tapas style Asian food. I really enjoyed the Umami Duck as well as ginger chicken. Ask for tap in case you don't want to pay for still/sparkling.

The atmosphere in the inner part of the restaurant is cool. We were seated at the front (bar side) and it was a little less cozy but still nice. The staff is really nice and friendly. The food was amazing. The bao buns, sandwiches, the japanese curry and ramen were all amazing. Just to take into account, the access to the toilets is a bit complicated if you go with anyone with mobility issues or older. The stairs are super steep.

We enjoyed the Seafood Menu at Umami yesterday. It was a three-course meal with two dishes in each course—beautifully presented and prepared with great care. First course: The oysters looked magnificent, though they're not my absolute favorite. The smoked wild salmon, on the other hand, was fantastic: a beautiful red color, probably pickled in beetroot juice, with a delicious soy sauce and mustard dressing. Second course: The braised scallops were delicious, with a spicy soy sauce so good we spooned the shells out. 😄 The sablefish with chili pepper and soy sauce was the absolute highlight of the evening—perfectly prepared and with the most delicious sauce I've ever tasted. Third course: The half lobster with shrimp in spicy tomato sauce was juicy and flavorful, though I found the sauce a bit overpowering. The prawns with sweet chili dressing, chili powder, and mango gel were a surprising combination; I would have preferred them served warm, so the flavor would have come out even better. By the end of the meal, we were quite full, so dessert wasn't an option. We'll definitely be back—for the delicious food and the incredibly friendly service.

Tonight was honestly one of the best dining experiences I’ve had here in Amsterdam! The food at Umami was absolutely delicious — every dish was full of flavor and beautifully presented. The service was top-notch too! Our server, Denisz, was super friendly, attentive, and really made us feel welcome. You can tell he enjoys what he does! I went here with my friend, and we both left happy and satisfied. If you’re ever in Amsterdam and looking for a restaurant that serves delicious food, has excellent service, and gives you an overall unforgettable experience, Umami is definitely the place to go! 😇

Came here on our last night of being in Amsterdam for a high class dinner and that’s exactly what was delivered. The food was amazing! We loved the concept and a great way to experience fine dining. Nice atmosphere, felt intimate even though the place is big. All the staff were very friendly and happy to explain the menu.
