Great place for Korean fried chicken 🔥

My friend had told me a lot about this restaurant and its food, and took me there. Unfortunately, I did not have a good experience at all. The food was good, and I was very satisfied with the dishes and their flavors. However, my bad experience was entirely because of the way the staff treated us. They were extremely rude. The woman who came to take our order was so irritated and unpleasant that I wanted to leave the restaurant before even placing my order. The second employee who came to take our dessert order did not actually register our order at all. After 40 minutes had passed and our order still had not arrived, I asked another employee when our order would be ready. The woman who had completely failed to register our order simply gave us a mocking, sarcastic smile. She did not apologize at all or make any effort to correct her mistake. The food was good, but the staff's behavior was completely unacceptable. They have changed the menu and the names of the sushi dishes, and it is not clear to customers what dishes are actually available on the menu. While we were at the restaurant, I noticed that several people had ordered the wrong dishes because of the menu changes. They were also upset with the way the staff treated them. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Unfortunately, we had a very disappointing experience. We felt that there was a complete lack of respect and attention toward customers. We were kept waiting for a long time, only to find out that our order had never even been registered—they had simply forgotten about it. What made the situation even worse was how they handled the mistake afterward. There was no proper apology and no attempt to make up for the inconvenience. Mistakes can happen at any restaurant, but the way you treat your customers after making a mistake says a lot about the quality of your service. Unfortunately, our experience was extremely disappointing.

Title: Extremely disappointing service and total lack of basic professionalism! We visited the Sojubar Amsterdam De Pijp location on Ferdinand Bolstraat today, and unfortunately, it was one of the worst dining experiences we’ve had in Amsterdam.First, the physical and visual layout of the menu is completely messy and confusing—it's unnecessarily complicated to figure out what is what or where to look. After a long and unreasonable wait, a waiter finally came to take our order, showing an obvious bad attitude, rolling their eyes, and giving off a completely miserable, unwelcoming vibe. Zero energy, zero hospitality.Things got even worse after the main course. We ordered dessert and waited for a long time, but nothing arrived. When we finally asked another staff member about the delay, the waitress who had originally taken our dessert order just giggled quietly and realized—oops—she had completely forgotten to register it! To make matters worse, not a single person on the floor had the basic decency or professionalism to apologize for the mistake.Ignoring customers and treating them with such casual disrespect is unacceptable, especially considering the compensation these staff members earn. A nice vibe or good food means nothing if the service treats you like a burden. I genuinely hope the management reads this review, takes a serious look at their floor staff, and addresses this blatant lack of manners and respect toward paying customers. We will certainly not be coming back.

Unreal. Got a medium gangam chicken, was probably about 12-14 tenders. Unreal chicken and sauce was class, chillies were a tad too spicy tho. Ordered chips on the side as a sharer which was ideal. Not messy either as they give you gloves to get stuck in. Rice bowl my friend got was a little small but chicken dishes were great bang for your buck. Also get to add on a pint to your main for £5 if you get chicken. What a place.

The food was good, but a little bit too expensive. The service was really nice though, our server Ashley was always asking if we needed something and was very attentive and sweet in general.

This was my 1st experience with Korean food and I absolutely loved it. I highly recommend it. Ashley was serving me and she was amazing overall. Fun to talk to, funny, intelligent and beautiful. She helped me choose my dishes very easily. I'll become a regular customer that's for sure. It's a beautiful restaurant to take a date to. I had Kimchi, Bibimbap with Beef and Korean spicy sweet chicken, plus their fantastic home made Iced Tea! Everything tasted incredibly good, rich, fresh and unique.

They have delicious chicken and the portions are large. It's not perfect, but it's a good alternative to fast food. Chicken prices average between 16-20 Euros. Reservations are essential during peak hours. There's no air conditioning, so it gets very hot inside.

But it was okay, though. They had a few smiles and spoke a little quietly for the foreigners! Thank you very much, otherwise it was good and great!

This is a must-visit place in Amsterdam. The chicken was delicious, the atmosphere was lovely, and the staff were friendly. They've opened a branch in Istanbul too, and we go there regularly. You might need to make a reservation, otherwise you might have to wait a bit at the door.

It tastes similar to what I ate in Korea! The batter is a bit on the thick side, and the seasoned chicken has a strong cinnamon flavor.

I recommend the seasoned fried chicken. It tastes over 90% identical to authentic Korean-style seasoned fried chicken. It was the best seasoned fried chicken I've had abroad. There are a lot of locals there. As a Korean, it makes me happy to see Korean food doing well overseas 👍

I'm someone who travels all over the world visiting Korean restaurants. The chicken really seems even tastier than what I eat in Korea. First off, the speed is insane. It comes out within 5 minutes. It's incredible. The taste is also really good. Everyone eating here is a foreigner, but it really fills you with national pride lol. Thank you for selling such delicious Korean food in other countries.

Excellent restaurant in De Pijp, Amsterdam. This Korean restaurant has an extensive menu and a wide selection of drinks. This restaurant is known for its delicious Korean Fried Chicken. And that is certainly true! The various Fried Chicken options are highly recommended. Delicious! The staff is friendly and efficient in their service, and the busyness is well managed by a staff member who keeps a close eye on the dining area. We received our large order quickly, and the tables were cleared just as quickly. Excellent. I have been here several times and not once have I left disappointed. Well done, and keep it up, Team Soyu Bar! Thank you very much.

I’ve been coming here regularly for the past three years. I always order the mandu with the M Garlic Soy and a homemade iced tea. However, lately the staff have become quite pushy, constantly asking if I’d like to order something else or suggesting additional items. I’ve already ordered my meal and drink, so I’m not sure what more I’m expected to buy. It also feels like if you don’t order anything else, you’re being encouraged to leave your table. Unfortunately, the place doesn’t feel as warm and welcoming as it used to.

Sojubar on Ferdinand Bolstraat offers great food and service. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, and the menu has a variety of Korean fried chicken options served with good side dishes. The chicken was crispy and well seasoned. I have tried Korean fried chicken in several locations in different countries, and this was my favorite. I highly recommend this restaurant if you’re looking for an affordable and tasty meal while visiting Amsterdam.

We came here for the second time this month; the first time we ignored the rude behavior of the staff, but this time it was just as bad. We rode and parked our bike outside in the corner, and the first time a Chinese or Nepalese boy came up to us to move the bike because it was blocking the view, but our bike was already parked on the edge of the restaurant car park... we parked there because we found their free space next to the window and it was good and safe to park our bike, but this man called another Chinese man and asked us to behave the same way.

Went to Sojubar yesterday for a fun girls' dinner and had a really great evening. The service was top-notch, the atmosphere was top-notch. Huge compliments to Joey; he made the evening so much more fun. This man deserves a raise! 🥳

The food is great here at sojubar. The portions were bigger than expected for this price. The staff was friendly, our waiter Justin was great. The gloves were also nice to prevent getting messy.

This is the first time I have been so disappointed with this restaurant. I have dined here with friends several times before and have also ordered takeaway on multiple occasions. Today, during a period when the restaurant was not even busy, I ordered a takeaway fried chicken meal. When I got home, I was shocked to see how little fried chicken size was actually in the box. It must be so hard to searched for the smallest chicken pieces delibrately they could find just to make up the original size, hoping customers either wouldn’t notice or wouldn’t complain. Unfortunately, we have eaten at this restaurant enough times to know what a normal portion looks like. After reading other reviews, I realized that this is far from an isolated incident. That suggests a clear lack of consistency in your portion control and ingredient management. If this is the standard your restaurant intends to maintain, I will no longer be dining here or ordering takeaway, and I certainly won’t be recommending this restaurant to anyone. P1 is today’s portion and P2 is the portion last time we went to the sojubar. Do I need to say more?

Wow. Went in for chicken, left with new memories. Highly recommend the honey butter chicken, and were helped really well by Justin! What a performer he is!

Left a little disappointed as there seems to be a lot of good reviews on this place. I asked the waiter what his favourite chicken was, he suggested the honey butter chicken which I got, I also decided to splurge on the cheesy fries. Chicken was crispy on the outside and juicy inside but was totally lacking any flavour at all. It seemed like only a very small amount of any butter or honey was on it. Fries were ok.. a bit soggy and the powdered cheese didn’t really hit the spot to be fair. In the end I left about 1/2 my chicken on the plate and hardly touched the fries. Atmosphere is great and the service as well. Just wish the food was better.

The food was okay, but service less so. My sister got a mocktail, really excited, but it had no fizz. I asked the staff if we could replace it as she wants to eat her chicken with a fizzy drink (and also it is expensive). She said she’d asked the bar when she came back. She told me it was not possible to change the recipe.?? Which is not what I asked I asked whether or not we could get what we ordered basically - a fizzy drink (it has 7Up in it??) This honestly ruined the whole experience for me because replacing a drink is really not that big of a deal. I also work at HORECA, I know it doesn’t cost much or takes much effort. Very disappointed, low-key wanted to leave after that.

Always been a fan for the past few years, but the last 2 orders have been off somehow. Did you change the recipe? In any case the OG chicken was more doughy than crispy, without any sauce is somehow spicy now, so our toddler couldn’t eat it. The Garlic soy used to be a glorious dark coating, now it seems like it was lightly brushed a few minutes before leaving the kitchen. Will try the new Amstelveen one to see if it matches the old taste, but this location is sadly now out of the running.

I went to this restaurant with a friend on a Saturday. We were excited and looking forward to it, yet we left disappointed. We had ordered a Spicy sweet fried chicken and the other cheese fried chicken. The name says fried, but there was nothing fried about it. As we ate, it became harder to finish. First, the Spicy sweet fried chicken was too sweet, in a way that you couldn't even taste the spice. Second, the portions were also a bit soggy. Finally, the fruity rainbow bingsu was a bit too sweet for the average customer. If you have a serious sweet tooth, then this is definitely for you! All in all, the atmosphere was nice and pleasant... but the food was disappointing.

Sweet and Spicy chicken and Beef Bulgogi Kimbap were both delicious. Apple mango soju was so tasty we had to get a second one! The Korean Screwdriver was a nice start. They know how to fry that chicken 🤤

The Korean food here is incredibly tasty, easily rivaling what you would find back in Asia! You can heat some Korean from nearby customers- even Korean visit here. The service was absolutely impeccable . Our waiter, Thu, provided outstanding service, and the manager was also very warm and friendly. I definitely recommend this place to anyone craving authentic Korean fried chicken and Soju. It is also highly family-friendly; kids will absolutely love the fried chicken and the rice rolls (kimbap). Yap, the evil level ice cream bawl is also served here. We will certainly be back!

I just love Soju Bar. It’s the best Korean fried chicken I’ve ever had in my life — hands down!! Whenever I have friends visiting Amsterdam, I make sure to bring them here to try it. The garlic soy flavour is my favorite, but honestly, they are all delicious. Last night, I came here with my family (a big group of 7) and we had fast and friendly service from Thu 🫶🏼 Besides the great service, the food, the vibes, the decor, everything is just wonderful here! I do recommend making a reservation in advance because it definitely gets packed on the weekends/in the evenings around dinner time.
