Top location. You won't find a better one in Almelo. Perfect location. Across from where the flower stall of the now legendary (sadly deceased) Ruud Sinnema used to be. Had to leave because the fire department couldn't get through. I was very surprised that the Wetshuus did get a permit for the covered patio. That's why I always avoided this beautiful historic building. My son and daughter-in-law invited me for a nice dinner. Nice, certainly. But that wasn't because of the food. The service was excellent. The atmosphere was also a big plus. Beautifully decorated with historical photos and paintings. A step back in time, you rarely find such a beautifully decorated interior. But the food. I ordered schnitzel and fries. For a cafeteria, I'd give it a 5, and then only for the fries, which they call fries in the Wetshuus. We're in Twente, my boy, anyway. Back to the food, I really don't understand how they manage to do this in the kitchen. You really have to work hard to get it to this point. I wonder what kind of magician was in that kitchen. Fried in? I don't know. It wasn't butter, not even oil. Praise be to God, it wasn't fried either. One side was browned, the other clearly undercooked. See the photo. It just didn't taste good. It certainly wasn't a traditional schnitzel like in Pruus. Or was the chef out? After three bites, I was done. And I only managed to eat it because I still had beer and could wash it down. A personal best! I was really disappointed; I had hoped to give it more stars. There won't be a second chance.

Had a delicious lunch. The hot chicken sandwich was sublime. Large portion and well-priced. Excellent!

I love coming here, but what puts me off is drinking from the glasses. I don't understand why the glasses aren't replaced, especially the iced tea glasses. They don't look good and are full of streaks; I don't enjoy drinking from them. I hope this changes so I can replace my review with a positive one.

Located in Almelo's downtown pedestrian zone. Easy to reach from the parking garage. The food was delicious and the portions were large. The prices are perfectly reasonable.

Fantastic! We had a wonderful meal. Of course, I didn't take any pictures (soon everyone would want one and we wouldn't be able to get in because it was full).

The service was bad, they forgot half of it. We told her the waiter would get it, and we saw her walk outside and smoke. We ended up waiting 15 minutes, and the food was cold. Never again.

Great location but no tasty rosé, and the drinks board was not what I am used to from you. Lots of sauces and appetizers. The cheese and sausage were unappetizing. Sorry, use it to your advantage.

We went to this place on Saturday. It's basically cozy inside. The renovation looks fresh, the cafe was clean. My friend ordered a gin tonic and I ordered a matcha with oat milk. It's always very sad to write negative reviews, but for a place it's always an opportunity to improve. Matcha was absolutely terrible. It tasted and looked as if the barista had scooped a mug from a swamp. 🥺 Photo attached. Very tart taste, you can feel it absolutely like the mixed matcha powder. The tea powder itself seems to me to be of very low quality. I didn’t drink the drink, it was impossible. It’s better to just buy a ready-made drink and heat it before serving. Let’s say “Natrue Barista matcha haver” a pack of this drink can be bought in a regular grocery store, order it for yourself. And don't torment the baristas and visitors. A friend drank gin tonic and it tasted delicious. But on the other hand, cutting a cucumber and mixing the ingredients doesn’t require much skill. The presentation is strange. The jar of tonic floated in the glass with the neck down, I hope the jar is washed before serving. Otherwise, there is a high probability of drinking a drink with notes of dust, dirt or hair. I hope you do something with your matcha 🍵

Affordable, beautiful old location with atmosphere, friendly service

Have been coming to Almelo regularly for a day trip in and around the city for several years. I have now also done the 4 city walks there on my own (maps at TouristInfo). Guided walks can also be booked!! A pleasant city, where industrial heritage has been integrated into the present day in a beautiful way with respectful historical awareness and a smart manner. A very nice combination of then and now. A big compliment is due here. Gray industrial city? Forget it!! Not for a long time! But now Taveerne Het Wetshuys in the center (Grotestraat 80). The name says enough about what it once was. Now catering. Very well adapted to these times. Fantastic modern flexible terrace for all seasons. And time has not stood still inside and there is a good mix of then and now. Good clear menu with a wide choice. Always enjoy my lunch here. My favorites: Carpaccio/brown bread and the Wetshuys Burger (2 burgers). Both great! In short...a visit to Almelo is worthwhile and a visit to Het Wetshuys is just part of it. A nice starting and resting point. You won't be disappointed!! Just do it once. Ed Jansen

The terrace is nice for a cup of coffee with something. For example, pancakes. Enjoy the open air in summer and under the heaters in winter. Inside it looks nice for a bite to eat. The service is smooth and friendly. That button system on the tables really works.

We ordered drinks again, but never received them again When we stood outside, we checked the bill to see if it was not there, but it turned out that the wrong table had been paid for, the amount must have been approximately correct, we had no need to go back inside again. Staff was ok, I've seen them friendlier.

The food was delicious, but I thought the appendices were very sparse, there were 4 people and we received 1 small bowl of salad and 1 bowl of fries, while if you look at the menu online it comes with each dish, so that was not the case with us. Shame.

A friend treated me to a delicious lunch here. As women often do, we were quite engaged in a conversation and no one came to us at that time and asked if we wanted to order something. Enjoy your meal . The schnitzels were delicious, and I think it's great that the sauces are served in separate bowls and not poured directly over the schnitzels! The fried potatoes were too rosemary heavy and not my thing when prepared this way.

Delicious food in the nicest restaurant in Almelo

We ended up here spontaneously during a stopover in Almelo and were really satisfied. The food (bowl, soup, children's meal) was delicious and the service was very friendly and helpful, as we couldn't fully understand the menu despite Google due to our lack of Dutch knowledge. The ambience is good but nothing extraordinary. But the restaurant still gets 5 stars overall.

Once in a lifetime experience... What a store this is! There are only a few guests. Are you waiting more than 1.5 hours for your main course... If you order a Skuumkoppe, they first row to Texel and back and then forget about you.

It looks beautiful. The vegetables and fries were also very tasty. I only ordered a rare steak (i.e. rare) and unfortunately I received a well-done piece of meat. I thought this was a shame! Especially because the rest was tasty. The red wine sauce is highly recommended! I would love to come back again. Beautiful terrace with heating and modular walls (this is a very nice extension), good staff, delicious food from the restaurant, but also tasty snacks available for the terrace. Good measures taken regarding Covid19. Not the cheapest terrace/restaurant, but there is luxury and quality in return.

Today we sat on the terrace in nice weather. Unfortunately no non-smoking areas so I think the food was better than my experience. The tables are close together, so the smoke from the neighbors drifted straight into my nose and into my daughter's. Glad that she thinks it smells as bad as I do, but it's a pity that it diminishes the experience of eating. Would you like to eat inside? Can't I sit outside too? At Nielz they now have smoke-free outdoor terraces. Everyone happy. It's also downright antisocial to blow your nasty smoker smell in my direction while eating. And although t wetshuys cannot control customer behavior, a smoke-free area is very desirable. Shame. The service was excellent, as were the prices.
