Nice Irish pub, attentive staff with a nice menu and drinks menu.

Yesterday, I ate at Shamrock with a group of 11 people. Not our first time. We do this often for work. I'm really considering not going back. The food is perfectly fine. Good, even. But the service is terrible. It simply takes too long to get served. It doesn't have to be 5 minutes, but after half an hour, something should be done. And what really irritates me is that when I ask, I get a disdainful look. It's really not okay. I'm like, if you don't like this job, go do something else.

Beautiful and welcoming Irish restaurant/café. Friendly staff, delicious food, and especially good beer. A lovely atmosphere with the bar in the center of the restaurant.

Irish mussels and Kilkenny. And service with a smile. I'll be back!

Too bad the new owner (2025) is letting the place deteriorate so much. The step from employee to owner has proven to be too big. Too bad.

Our local pub is always fun. The food is great and it's always nice. This time we went for a beer tasting. Yummy! After dinner we often have a nice whiskey.

After we had been to some great suits for the groom and guests, we wanted to have something to eat. The bar was noisy and looked like a brown café. Not my first choice for food, but what can I do in return? I ate the best sirloin steak there that I can remember. Everything was slightly different and even the fries were delicious. The desserts were all surprising too. Friendly service. I took the noise around us for granted, that's part of a pub. The delicious food was the mega surprise here! If you don't come for the food, you are in a super cozy, atmospheric pub.

Had a fantastic evening. I accidentally ended up at the Special Beer Evening, which was excellently organized and had a good selection.

This Place is very consistent in what they do. Excellentie food, combined with really bad waiters. How difficult can it be to take the order for some 10 drinks for people seated at a long table and deliver them in the sequence that you took the order? You can work clockwise or counterclockwise, take your pick. Every time an order is recorded there is a 5 minutes ask and tell scenario of who ordered what. same story for the food, just like the previous occasion I visited this place. A real shame, else the place would have got a 5* note. Timing of the side dishes could be better as well.

I've been to the Shamrock several times and it's almost as nice as Dublin. Especially with music from the fiddleheads.

A delicious dinner. We ate with a large group, and also with a number of dietary requirements. This did mean that we received a slightly limited menu due to the kitchen (1 or 2 dishes less per category). Everything went excellent and we had a great time! I had the Irish Tasting with a friend; this is actually 3 meals for 2 enthusiasts, and took away the stress of choosing. The tasting consists of the shepherds pie, the steak & Guinness stew and the veggie stew. All three are full of savory and beautiful complex flavors. Of the three, I liked the steak & Guinness the best, but all three are recommended. The tasting certainly also, it is a nice shared dining with quite a few different flavors, but it keeps it nice and simple in shared dining terms. Service was also great, and the whiskey list is well priced! Definitely worth repeating!

Top place! Super atmosphere, very friendly service and super cuisine! I can understand the "negative" reviews about the slow/poor service, but let me put this into context. We went by on a busy Thursday evening, when the place was almost packed. It was very clear to me as a guest (with catering experience) that there was a good system in place to make everything run as smoothly as possible. Part of the team took orders, another part looked after serving drinks and food. What a less trained eye might not notice is the fact that there was also someone walking around looking to assist where necessary AND to direct the rest of the team. Okay, I had to wait a while before the order was taken and it took a while again before the drinks were served, but when everyone is busy and the place is full, you just have to be a little patient. The speed with which the kitchen serves the SUPER dishes more than compensates for the minimal delays for me. Big compliments to the entire team ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I ate my plate here tasty and mouth-watering!

Atmosphere and food are very good. Only the service you have to wait quite a long time for your order when it is busy. Furthermore, the staff does do their best.

After all these years it is still fun, cozy and good. And good to see that the permanent staff from the past are still having a good time!

what a nice place. good atmosphere. top service. delicious steak and guinnes stew and a good pint of guinnes. in short, highly recommended! My last good Irish pub was in Galway and now also in Almelo. now some Irish music and then it's finished. we will definitely come back!

Was there Sunday December 22nd. Was part of a party of 12 people. Service was substandard. Apparently inexperienced wait staff. Additional fries were ordered but did not arrive. Payment was difficult because it was not possible to pay separately. After a long discussion about this, payment was eventually made separately. Even though it was busy, this is no excuse to treat customers this way. Not good hosting. Shame!

Tolles Lokal, viele spezielle Biere vom Fass oder auch aus der Flasche. Einrichtung, wie man es sich in einem Pub vorstellt. Gegessen haben wir nicht, aber auch da wäre die Auswahl sehr gut gewesen

Delicious evening meal, Great setting, Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Had a special for 2 people. (Entrecote from the grill 500 gr 2 pers) Highly recommended.

Four of us spontaneously went there for dinner in the early evening. The service is attentive and quick, the range of drinks on offer is convincing and served perfectly. The food was simply terrific. The ambience suits the restaurant. The prices are okay. The restaurant is highly recommended.

Delicious entrecote from Mander, served with a delicious glass of wine. A sandwich and bodies in advance. Very nice service, nice and fast. And did I already mention it? Delicious food! Recommended.

Recently had dinner here with 3 people. Food for 2 people was fine, unfortunately the vegetarian spinach was not tasty. The spinach was floating on the plate in the water, so it was very tasteless. Apologies were made but that was it. No price reduction, also a cup of coffee etc was not offered for light compensation. Sadly a very missed opportunity.

What a great place this is in Almelo!! A real Irish pub with a whiskey society on the top floor. The staff is friendly and pleasant. The place is a real Irish pub with a nice bar, cozy tables and delicious food. We had a shamrock burger, a mixed grill and a shepards pie, all three of which really deserve a big 10. Everything was prepared with fresh ingredients and very tasty, you could taste the fresh herbs and the freshness of the meat. We really haven't had such good food in a long time. Price-quality ratio is perfectly fine. This is a great asset for Almelo on all fronts, even though we come from far away, this is certainly a reason to choose Almelo again.

Ate here twice during the Ascension weekend. First time with the luxury snack board, because we weren't that hungry. Good extensive board with snacks, was an excellent replacement, if you don't want an extensive dinner, no. Went back second evening for a 'normal' dinner. Together we had a combo with the vegetable stew and the sheperds pie. We went home with stumps on our arms, because we ate the fingers ;) Still had some fooling around with the service at checkout. Shamrock left us a very good impression.

Dropped in randomly after passing by. Nice atmosphere and good space outdoor. Ordered Fish & Chips and a Grolsch. Quick service and food served perfectly. Fish, fries, majo, dip and a tasty salad on the side. Very good and highly recommended. Tuesday evening, warm weather and overall a good experience.

Pub Irlandese in centro ad Almelo atmosfera accogliente, personale molto disponibile. Buone zuppe, buona birra. Ho preso la Sheperd's pie, una specie di terrina con carne trita, patate e una abbondantistima gratinatura di formaggio. Buona, ma bella pesante. Consigliato sicuramente.

Irish pub in the center of Almelo welcoming atmosphere, very helpful staff. Good soups, good beer. I took the Shepherd's pie, a kind of terrine with minced meat, potatoes and a generous gratin of cheese. Good, but pretty heavy. Definitely recommended.

Leuke kerstmiddag gehad, alleen weer kommer en kwel met de jassen ophangen, opzoeken , net als vorig jaar. Verder 15 munten voor 50 euro, is gemiddeld 3,33 euro Bij inlevering van de munten die over waren, kreeg ik 3 euro per stuk terug…..jammer dit.

Very nice expérience in this restaurant. They were very friendly and food was delightful. I took the ribs and was nicely surprised of the Asian style flavor. It was the most original ribs I ever eat and I loved it!

Heel gezellige plek om aperitief te nemen maar zeker om te dineren... Heel vriendelijke bediening en gezellig interieur om van het lekker eten nog te zwijgen..Als je in Almelo bent moet je hier zeker komen eten!

The Shamrock could use a little more maintenance. I'm afraid it will sink otherwise. By the way, the staff is fine, I don't know about the food, the atmosphere is mediocre. The fact that I am a bit disappointed may also have to do with cultivated expectations. I have to give it another chance.

22-07-2023 and had a delicious meal at The Shamrock in Almelo. The food, service, ambiance and staff is a 9+. If you are ever in Almelo, eating with these people is a must, don't skip it because you are really missing something. Greeting, Roger and Kim

Ate with five of us. 2 of us have cow's milk protein intolerance. Then you would expect that their card is correct with their listing of the allergens, right? Then it is quite special that we get a hot dog with a white bun that contains milk protein. And a vegan! avocado dish with melted cheese on top 🙈😱. The manager wanted to make up for it and we indicated that a strip of spare ribs would be sufficient; We were allowed to pay an extra 4.5 euros for this 😅. We kindly said thank you and left. I also asked if Karin could contact us; heard nothing more. Very unfortunate, never eating at The Shamrock again.

After the cinema, have a drink and chat at the Shamrock. Forget it! At half past 11 the kitchen is closed and the coffee machines are clean. A glass of wine is just fine. Apparently there is a person walking around (inside and outside) who bothers you on the terrace. A waiter comes with an ATM (around 11 o'clock). You want to pay. Er, sorry, we didn't say anything. You didn't want to drink anymore. You want to close? So yes! A bad review no problem! Ruud and Karin, give your staff a hospitality/friendliness course. You will never see me here again!!

Very rude, you (at least 4 of the staff present, half drunk yourself at the bar) ruined it. Hypocritical comments and gestures (supposedly sneaky) behind our backs. They didn't realize we were getting it. Disgusting!

The menu is much better than in the past. We don't come here anymore, but we finally took a look inside after a while. The food was very tasty, but the staff could be a bit more proactive. The table was not cleared after dinner ... drinks arrived too late. There is still some room for improvement here.

Sometimes pubfood is great and in this pub for sure . I ordered tunafish and was positively surprised. I recommend this place for ppl who are not only thirsty but also hungry.

I ate the STEAK AND GUINNESS (beef stew with fries and small salad) here on July 31, 2022. It was warm enough to sit outside and because there are more cafes and the like around it, the atmosphere was super nice and cozy. The service was fast and by very friendly staff, we hardly had to wait and they kept a close eye on the tables to see if anyone needed more. The stew is also definitely recommended. The meat was wonderfully tender with an undertone of the Guinness in it and the mushrooms and cherry tomatoes enhanced the taste. Fries were also nice and crispy and salty. If I had lived nearby, I would definitely have gone there more often to try out the other dishes! :)

Nice Irish cafe/restaurant. Tables sometimes too much in the dark so that you have to use a flashlight to read the menu. You can't create conviviality by leaving the tables in the dark. Small menu, stew resembles a goulash soup where the meat is hard to find. 4 people for 2 fries? Beer (pint) is served in different glasses (small/large, price remains the same)
