By far the best Italian restaurant I've ever visited. I had the Mezzi Rigatoni. It was simply delicious. Every forkful was a delight, perfectly seasoned and freshly prepared. The service was also very friendly and attentive. The cozy, intimate ambiance rounded off the evening perfectly. Highly recommended!

We tried the menu and everything was really delicious. They bring an unique flavour to the classic italian cuisine. Service was great as well. But it is not a cheap restaurant.

I am writing while I am ordering the 2nd round of dessert for our group , we had 4 course meal , each and every course was carefully done starting from Bruschetta to pasta to the meat main course made to perfection and the dessert was mind blowing. ☺️

For a few hours, we truly felt like we were in Italy! Not only were the dishes incredibly authentic, but the warm-hearted and professional Italian gentlemen took the whole experience to another level. If you’re looking for that genuine Italian charm, this is the place to be. Lots of love from us!

Fantastic little Italian restaurant! The setting is perfect for a date, romantic but relaxed. Special shootout to the staff that is (Italian) very kind and helpful. They speak perfectly Dutch and English too. The food is excellent and tasty. We started with the veal that is served in an original “bone”. The acciughe were also flavorful. Excellent pasta with abundant portions.

Steak tartare worth the trip. Thick cuts of beef with bone marrow on toast, clean, buttery, and boldly satisfying. The octopus was tender with just the right kick, and the potatoes were crispy outside with buttery creaminess inside. Cozy neighborhood spot; the terrace was comfy, but inside was far too warm and steamy. Service was friendly and attentive. Skipped dessert as there were only three options and passed on the extensive wines by the glass that night. 👉 Would I go back? Absolutely, even just for the tartare.

My husband and I went to Testamatta to celebrate my birthday, and it was one of those places where you walk in and feel instantly at home. For an upscale casual spot, the vibe is super relaxed and friendly; it wasn’t pretentious at all, but the food was just the best part. Truly well done. You can tell they put a lot of love and skill into every dish. Chef Roberto takes classic Italian dishes and elevates them without overdoing it. We opted for the four-course Chef Recommendation menu to be surprised, and honestly, each course was a highlight in its own right. The scallop was incredibly fresh, and the meat was cooked to perfection. The seasonal vegetables added a nice touch of crunch and lightness (who knew leek and lettuce could taste like that!). The flavors were so well balanced. When you combine all the elements on your plate and eat them together, you'll realize that each ingredient, along with how it's cooked and seasoned, was made to complement one another. The plating was beautiful, but not fussy. The portions are just right—enough to satisfy and fill us, but not too heavy. This is the restaurant where you want to take your time, savor your wine (Francesco, the co-owner and sommelier, paired the perfect wine for every course—we felt like we were in good hands), chat, and relax with your dining companion! You won’t feel rushed at all! It's one of those special spots in Amsterdam that makes you want to come back, simply because of the great food, great vibe, and how genuinely kind and attentive everyone is. P.S.: They also added a little candle to my delicious tiramisu at the end—such a sweet, personal touch, especially since we had just mentioned in passing that we were there to celebrate my birthday!

Testamatta Ristorante Enoteca is hands down the best place I’ve ever been to. The food is incredible, the wine selection is top-notch, and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. I know the owner personally, and their passion truly shines through. A must-visit!

We eat here frequently and the food is always outstanding. It’s a small place that cooks everything fresh when ordered, so yes, it may take time between courses but you wouldn’t want to rush in and out of a beautiful meal and excellent wine.

The spaghetti was fantastic, and the bread was great too — I loved the olive oil! I was too hungry to take any photos, but I’ll definitely come back next time I’m in Amsterdam!

Rude and €13 for 2 coffees. There are 2 of us, we go in to ask for 2 coffees, after being told that we can't sit down since we didn't order enough, we take them to take away. After that I am refused to go to the bathroom because we only had 2 coffees. Unless I pay €3 more. In the end the bill comes to €13 for 2 coffees and without being able to go to the bathroom. Super rude tone.

The 4-course chef's menu was very good. Especially with the recommended wines, which really added something. The dishes were nicely balanced and the service was very friendly and helpful. It feels very casual, but the food and service are of a high standard. We will definitely come back!

10/10, this was by far the best lamb ragu ever. Cleaned the bowl. Waiter was very informative talking about where they source the lamb or about their choice of olive oil. Sat at the counter-top looking out the window for some very nice people watching. Would highly recommend.

The first time we went to this place we loved it and it was really good. The second time we went back, the menu options were too limited and the service was very slow. There was a new waiter with less attention than the owner itself. If I was new in the city, I would definitely try it.

We had high hopes for this restaurant, but unfortunately, it was a disappointing experience, especially as we were dining with two young kids. The service was painfully slow and inattentive — we had to wait far too long just to place our order, and getting anyone’s attention throughout the meal felt like an uphill battle. With little ones at the table, this made the experience particularly frustrating. On top of that, the prices are simply unjustifiable given the portion sizes. We ordered a basic pasta with tomatoes, and the portion was so small it could barely qualify as a starter — yet it was priced at an outrageous €18. To make matters worse, even tap water was charged, which just feels petty when you’re already paying premium prices for mediocre value. Overall, not worth the time or money. Definitely not a place I’d recommend for families — or anyone expecting decent service and fair pricing.

Francesco and Roberto are super hospitable. Fantastic food and delicious wines. New dishes regularly. And seafood Wednesday is also recommended! Deserved newcomer in Gault&Millau with 12.5 points!

This place is a gem! If I lived in Amsterdam, I would be a regular :) Relaxing atmosphere with nice mix of italian tunes, soft light and tasteful decor. The service is warm and friendly, both owners really care about you as the customer and the food that they deliver to your table. I had cod with mussles and olives in tomato sauce with the side of fresh bread. It was absolutely deliscious and I am fussy about my food. Make no mistake- stop by this place if in the area or even if you're not :) Impressive wine selection if you're into wine. The restaurant is all about passion, style and fantastic experience!

Very very good and original plates. The only downside: the service. My pasta arrived lukewarm, there was a long wait, my husband had a dessert other than the one ordered, and he spent his meal waiting for his glasses of wine (and me for my water). But everything is managed with a smile :) maybe just a server was missing this evening!

The food is absolutely delicious, but it’s the cozy environment and friendly service that make Testamatta stand out. You can taste the freshness of the ingredients, from the focaccia to the ragout sauces to the homemade limoncello. The portions are well served and everything arrives at the table with a huge smile from the team who take pride in bringing a taste of northern Italy to grey Amsterdam. We were there for an intimate dinner for two, but there was also a big table of over 10-12 people and the restaurant is equally suited for both. This will definitely become one of my go-to restaurants in the city.

This is our 3rd time at the restaurant. The first time was cocktails and a small dish, the 2nd time we chose a meal, and tonight we had the taster menu with wine pairing. Everything was delicious, perfect size, great tastes, amazing service with every dish explained and paired with the best wine. And a lovely homemade limoncello to finish too. MOLTO BENE!! What a positive surprise this restaurant is!! We really enjoyed it and had a fantastic evening. What passion & pleasure the owners have here to really pamper you. Bruschetta's, pasta's, fresh fish and super tender meat. Delicious dishes, beautiful wines and a small gift here and there ''from the house'' ;-). Everything has a nice story and they like to tell it at the table. Felt like eating very good food and drinking very well in the living room with Italian friends. A very nice trip through Italy. We will definitely come back!!

What a fantastic place! An evening spent at the beautiful window table. Wonderful people watching, good wine and pleasant conversations. The staff leaves nothing to be desired and from start to finish everything was tasteful and well taken care of, as you can only find with a real Italian. Definitely recommended!

After 4 days of visiting the city which I admit is beautiful and wonderful in many respects, but Italy, fashion, culture, cuisine, flavours, craftsmanship, in short I could add a thousand things... Then on the last day I find this restaurant, a true Sicilian owner, a super super fair environment, incredibly good cuisine, and feeling at home with Italian warmth and friendliness, in a city like Amsterdam which is beautiful to look at, but Italian hospitality... Become a plus for this city!! Super recommended!!!

An exceptional evening at this delightful Italian resturant. As an Italian, I was truly impressed by the authenticity of the cuisine. The restaurant offers a diverse selection of exquisite and unique dishes, showcasing the best of Italian culinary tradition. I particularely appreciated the home made gnocchi with braised venison and the braised beef cheek.

Ate here back in december while on vacation with my family, to this day almost a year after, my mom still ask me about this restaurant and tells everybody how much she loved the food. The food wasa great, so were the drinks. It's really cozy and the owner clearly knows how to treat a custumer. The only downside I see it's that is small, so if there is a party that's big or loud, it becomes a bit too much. But def worth it!!!

Honestly very disappointed in the food, wasn’t expecting to be. The gnocchi with veal tasted like dog food and the ravioli was inedible and cold on the inside. We didn’t even finish our food and paid a lot just for these two items. Maybe we just had a bad experience but this was one of our worst dinners ever. They would probably execute you if you served this in Italy

We have been staying close by at the Conservatorium and were recommended Testamatta. Great vibe, excellent staff and the bowl of perfectly made pasta make for an lovely Amsterdam evening. We sat outside with our pup. Francesco is great!

The quality of the ingredients shines through in every dish, where even humble components are elevated to a new level. Chef Roberto's skill in combining flavors is outstanding, delivering traditional Italian dishes with a refined, modern twist. They also have an impressive wine selection, and Francesco, the resident wine connoisseur, offers great vino recommendations that pair nicely with the meals. Federico, with his super friendly and attentive service, ties the experience together beautifully. Testamatta is not to be missed, and we'll be going back! (Photos are from both visits.)

Testamatta is a HIDDEN GEM. Since we discovered it almost one year ago, we've been back many times and it has always been an exceptional experience (the menu changes every month!). Traditional Italian dishes and flavours are always taken to a higher level with unique twists - I'm still dreaming of the Genovese ragú made with lamb or of the variation of Nerano pasta with coconut milk and lemongrass. As if this was not already enough, Francesco and chef Roberto welcome you at Testamatta with a friendly and warm atmosphere.

What a winner this is, went for steak tartare, pasta with wild boar and the tastiest pavlova ever! Everything was so good. Service was also very good. Highly recommended if you like real Italian flavors!

The atmosphere of the restaurant is warm and welcoming, perfectly in line with the Italian authenticity that shines through in every detail. The dish that stole the show was undoubtedly the watermelon sashimi with yogurt and horseradish sauce, a true work of art created by the talented chef Roberto. The freshness of the watermelon, combined with the delicacy of the yogurt sauce with a hint of spiciness given by the horseradish, is a surprising and absolutely delicious combination. This dish demonstrates the mastery of combining innovative ingredients with traditional Italian flavors. The service was impeccable, with attentive and passionate staff. My second time at this beautiful and cozy Enoteca. Thoughtful and well balanced dishes. Small but changing menu. Beautiful antipasti. Fresh fish. I have had the polpo pasta twice and the polpo is beautifully executed. Small team of staff, more than hospitible, that asks for feedback. Diverse special wine selection, to where the staff knows an abundance about. Lemoncello is house made and super smooth. Grazie mille team, and we will definitely return. This place is unpretentious but also possesses an upscale Italian, but true Italian cuisine.

Food is ok, but for this price it needs to be more than just ok. Slow service, endless waiting between courses, there's so much noise inside it's pretty hard to have a normal conversation.

We had a great time here. I appreciate the delicious food, great vibe and also very helpful stuff. The waiter has been very careful, and explained promptly every dish we had. I love that they are supporting local business in Italy and giving the food a better back story to it. The overall experience was great!

If I could rate this place more than 5 stars I would. This is a must go for any Italian food fan! The pistachio tiramisu was incredible. Roberto was our server and he was so nice and gave wonderful wine pairing with dinner and dessert. We visited Italy last summer and this felt like we were back there!
