Very bad food. Not fresh. Fried banana dried out and gross. Noodles inedible. Slices of bacon with the tofu 🙁. Small bowls of satay 1 euro 😟. Has nothing to do with Surinamese cuisine. Go to Albina in De Pijp, that is truly Surinamese.

Horrible food, i got salted meat which was very greasy and the advertised "kousenband" where cheap dutch beans. Employees are uninterested and busy with eachother

Rude lady at Tokoman Waterlooplein. This is the second time already! I won't be going back!

- food is disgusting and not fresh at all, health authorities should have a closer look at this place… - they sell chewy fatty “meat” under the name of ‘beef rendang’ - they close much earlier then the official closing time says - the woman is grumpy as hell bon apetite!

After reading positive things about Tokoman in a travel guide I wanted to try it out - particularly the Broodje Pom, with chilli and pickles. The woman behind the counter was very kind and helpful, and the food was good - very reasonably priced too! If I had stayed in Amsterdam longer I would have made return visits!

Lots of choices of asian surinameese streetfood. Lots of choices for rice boxes, sandwiches, pastry and bao. We have been there several times. I liked the porc bao a lot. We will come back when in amsterdam.

Disgusting and expensive I paid 14 euro for a roti that tasted li,e it was rotten and also the tofu curry was tasting like its rotten the green beans were not well cooked waste of money and super scammer there was a lady from Singapore who did not even understand what she was selling. Worst and cheapest quality of food

Great food, but could you change the closing time to 6 p.m. instead of 7 p.m.? I regularly find the door closed after 6 p.m., and now again at 6:25 p.m.

Sandwiches are just...not special. But the staff is really unfriendly.

Pre-cooked meals can produce significant amounts of nitrites. Selling such less-than-fresh meals at regular restaurant prices is already absurd. Moreover, the meat quality is inconsistent, sometimes fresh and sometimes not, causing stomach pain and diarrhea. The quality drops while prices rise, which is a joke. Only people unfamiliar with true gastronomy, like the Dutch, would eat such things.

Staff were so rude (specially the lady). Not recommended

The lady was so kind, explaining to me everything I asked about the food patiently. She heated it up for me so I can eat it hot. The food is really good and you can feel that it's good quality. I don't know what they added to these noodles but they are so delicious 😋. Great prices and a good option for something healthy. I especially recommend the noodles and shrimp. Thanks Tokoman! *I got the wokbox with noodles, barbecue chicken and shrimp (extra) and plain sweet beans.

Everything you could expect from an easy takeout place. If you are complaining that things are in Dutch and thus giving a bad review you should really get over yourself and deal because it wasn't very hard to figure things out, but you are also in The Netherlands where people speak dutch (imagine that). There is a HUGE sign that tells you right away they do not take credit cards and so you just pay cash, easy peasy. Lady behind the counter was pleasant and helpful and we had a great quick lunch.

Great food but they charge you the disposable plastic tax on paper cartons and do not allow you to bring your own to avoid the tax.

My friends and I went in seeing the big selection of ready made food. Prices looked acceptable, they don’t accept credit card, only visa and debit. Everything was fine but the cook was rude to my friend as she didn’t know what to order since everything was in Dutch and there were no descriptions. My friend said “I’d like a sandwich but I don’t know what they are”. And the cook said in a rude tone “i don’t know what you want” and did a hand gesture and went on. Then after my friend just decided to eat a random item on the menu, she tries to tell the cook what she wants but gets a weird stare as if she was offended with being interrupted. The food tasted okay, a bit lacking in sauce and there’s no clear prices on the stuff in front of you. The 2 star is mostly from our experience. Really bad manners from the woman cook.

Very nice place , our friend enjoys everything there. The food was awesome, and the boss of the shop was very kindly and open minded. She also make good advice and recommendations for some different kinds of what to see in the inner city of Amsterdam. If we are back in this town we will definitely come back to your place ! 👍

Leckere Snack, auch zur späteren Stunde. Suriname Sandwich und Boxen zu überschaubaren Preisen. Es gibt eine sehr große Auswahl an Zutaten, die ganz nach Wunsch zusammengestellt werden. Die große Anzahl an Kunden zeugt von der guten Qualität.

Just not My favorourite. Hapsjeshoek accross the road is just better quality for less money. A no brainer for me

Hier haal je prima Surinaams eten (je stelt bijvoorbeeld je eigen lunchbox samen maar een complete maaltijd kan zeker ook, warm of koud om mee te nemen) en snacks, en ze verkopen ook nog potjes met heerlijke bijgerechten als picailly met madam-janetpepers en meer. Doen! Je blijft terugkomen...

Lekker broodje gekocht en wilde pinda's erbij als tussendoortje. Gatverrrrrrrrrr!!!! Die dingen zijn zo vreselijk zout dat ze bitter zijn. Ik kan helaas niet bellen om ze te waarschuwen dat dit levensgevaarlijk is voor mensen met een verhoogde bloeddruk. Dus bij deze; tokoman, hou het bij jou lekkere broodjes en gooi die pinda's alsjeblieft weg, dan blijf je de beste broodjeszaak

They've been here 20 years (or even longer but I've been coming here for 18 years out of convenience). Quality is consistent, taste is original and prices are reasonable. The service is not great, especially the guy when you're not Dutch (he has issues), but the lady is okay. It's not the best Surinam place, but this one is very conveniently located and worth a try.
