The food was fine, but the service was terrible. The staff looked grumpy and were unfriendly.

We luckily came across this restaurant late at night. Our feet were sore, my pregnant daughter couldn’t walk any further. We went in with no booking, and were met with a friendly waiter, who gave us a table straight away. The service was friendly, attentive and quick. Food looked and tasted amazing. Beautiful, authentic decor in a lovely water front setting.

Everything I had was so incredibly delicious, even down to the side salad. Service was wonderful as well.

Unfortunately, something went wrong in the kitchen, which meant we had to wait an extremely long time for our food. Communication about this was inadequate. However, the solution was very good, so we'll be back. Tip: the Caesar salad is way too small for this price.

The staff wasn't nice, we ordered one cappuccino and two cocktails and it took them 20 minutes to make it, even though it wasn't full. When it arrived the waitress gave us one cappuccino and only one cocktail and then said in a very raw tone "oh, we don't have the other cocktail anymore" she could've said that before.

I am here right now. All bautiful, the leal is great , the Service is so kind. Correct. A great stop in my way. I recomend a lot . Croque madame! And croqueta shrimp.

This bar man is amazing, I don’t know where he came from or how he does it but it is simply extraordinary. Usually there is a guy called Tim who is great but this new guy is out this world. Before I left I had to ask his name, his name was Luc, not Lucas but simply Luc. This gentleman deserves the world knowledge about beer, social skills all unmatched. Deserves the world + a rise.

We had beer and bitterballen on a sunny day. We sat out front, enjoyed the canal, and soaked up the sunshine. The service was wonderful—everything was top-notch. The bitterballen were absolutely delicious. Full praise for the service, the beer, and the entire experience!

After my husband enjoyed a great dinner here, he convinced me to come join him to check out the place. The ambiance is very nice and the service was wonderful! The vibe is comfortable and casual. We enjoyed Tim's bar service so much that we came back the next night for drinks.

Disappointed in this experience. I booked a table with a request to be outside or as close to the window as possible -the location close to the canal was the reason we picked it-. Upon arrival (terasse full, inside almost empty), I inquired on this. The waitress ignored it and put us at the table the further away from the windows -to be clear, there were a lot of empty tables closer to the windows-, next to the kitchen door in the passage of people, on a very wobbly table. We asked her for something to block it a bit she said she would bring some coasters (never did), asked another waiter after a bit (never came back), asked a 3rd one (great waiter, came back 10sec after and fixed it in 2secs, he was very friendly too, great service from him only!). The food was a miss. The fish was nice but the mash potato served with it was cold (not luck warm, plain cold) and in too much oil. The positive: The interior of the restaurant is beautiful!

A detail that is not minor, they offered us water at the entrance and we accepted, but the surprise when paying was that they charged us €12 for 2 3/4 bottles and it was free for the rest of the customers. (They saw us looking like strangers and we paid for the hazing for not asking).

Very good and attentive service. Drinks came fast , starter took a little long, the scallops could have benefited from a slightly longer time in the pan, they were also somewhat small. Wine came fast and was good but the ribeye took forever. When it got there it was bloody but warm enough to eat, just how I like it. Nice desert , thank you for it. If you like to visit this place you should go an hour before you are hungry so you can have some drinks as it has a nice wine selection. Enjoy.

I visited this place on saturday. The snacks and cocktails were really nice, we were also lucky to have an amazing waiter who spoke 5-6 languages with us and other guests. He also shared some funny facts about the city, and gave us some advice which places to see. Greetings Martin🇭🇷

Just an okay dining experience. Luckily the ambiance was nice and service was friendly. Although they didn’t have a bunch of dishes on their menus and the ones substituted for them did not have any descriptions anywhere, so had no idea what one was ordering until it appeared. Decided to go for one of their “substitution dishes” to find out after it was served that it was made w a sauce someone in our party was allergic to (there was confusion on what was in it exactly and that eventually got cleared up). Instead of suggesting for the dish to be remade w a different sauce or substitute it all together, the waitstaff kept insisting on whether we should order more food in addition to what we had. Meaning we would have to order and pay for more food rather than just fix the situation. It was already bad enough they were out of a few items, then deal w this unexpected surprise. There went 50+ euros down the toilet for a meal we didn’t even enjoy and left hungry afterwards. Won’t return and cannot recommend this establishment to others.

Great restaurant with a subdued and warm atmosphere. We were there on a weekday so not many people, which is ideal for a dinner in complete privacy. The dishes are very good, I loved the salmon, very tender. The salad was also very good, well seasoned. They offer good cocktails, we tried the classic bloody mary: quite special but could please fans of salty cocktails. The servers take great care, at the top! I recommend 100%.

Located in the northern part of the city, a vintage space, somewhat well decorated and welcoming, but in my opinion it needs equipment that allows air circulation, the service is slow although the employees are friendly, the quality of preparation as well as the elements that compose it is of good quality.

Myself and my dad went to Van Puffelen this past weekend - we were fortunate for the kindness of the owner and the chef to allow us in for a late seating. We had a really lovely time! The food was great! Atmosphere was lovely and the music was a great addition and really added character and ambiance ❤️ I would definitely return and encourage friends and family to do the same 🥰

Van Puffelen in Amsterdam is een absolute aanrader! De sfeer is warm en sfeervol, en het eten is fantastisch. Ik genoot van een romige burrata als voorgerecht, gevolgd door een perfect gebakken ossenhaas met rodewijnsaus en seizoensgroenten. Het dessert, een zijdezachte crème brûlée, was de perfecte afsluiter. De bediening was vriendelijk en attent, en de locatie aan de Prinsengracht maakt het helemaal af. Een topavond!

Van Puffelen in Amsterdam is highly recommended! The atmosphere is super cozy and the food was great. I started with a delicious burrata, then a perfectly cooked tenderloin with red wine sauce and seasonal vegetables, and for dessert a creamy crème brûlée, really enjoyable. The service was super friendly and the location on the Prinsengracht makes it perfect. Had a great evening!

Delicious croquette sandwiches!

Cozy little spot perfect for brunch near the Anne Frank museum. Service was great and fast, lots of nice beers on tap. Pastrami open face sandwich was great, the mustard sauce and pickles 🤤 the croque monsieur was also really great, enjoyed in thoroughly.

I was in Van Puffelen for a group dinner, and as someone that is vegan it’s often hard to be accommodated at restaurants. However, the lovely hardworking waitress Mila, made sure I got my dietary restrictions right and asked the chef to prepare me a special meal, she deserves a raise, very professional, very accommodating, very friendly, and hardworking…not many people understand how hard it is to work in hospitality and for her to take care of an entire group and remember their orders was honestly very impressive. Other than that…the food was phenomenal! Would definitely visit again.

Sometimes you don't need anywhere grand or sophisticated to eat. Van Puffelen looks and feels like a British pub on the inside, and there is a bar with beer on tap. It's bigger than it looks at first glance, with a second room on the other side of the wall, and more space at the back. The food was fine. Nothing exceptional, but tasted good. It's a fair option if you're in the area. The fries were the star of the show - crispy on the outside, just soft enough on the inside and lots of flavour.

Had a fabulous meal here last night with my mother and friends! Highly recommends great wine list. Alllllll the food was delicious and a great ambiance. Props to the TWO, only two, chefs in the kitchen pumping out quality dishes.

Called in for a drink, had a drink it was nice ordered a second it never came, asked again it never came, so I left. Cool spot nice drink forgetful staff.

We went for brunch on Saturday 2/11 around 12:30, it was empty when we arrived. The disastrous and unpleasant terrace service. An hour of waiting for them to bring us a sandwich and some scrambled eggs. I don't recommend it to anyone.

The place is very nice, the food is good and the staff are very kind. The only downside is the wait, the cooking is a bit slow.

Nach vorheriger Reservierung waren wir mit 8 Personen zum Abendessen hier. Wegen des schönen Wetters nahmen wir gerne den angebotenen Aussentisch, direkt an einer Gracht gelegen. Mehr Amsterdam kann nicht sein. Bei 8 verschiedenen Gerichten konnten wir uns einen guten Überblick über das Angebot und die Qualität der Küche machen. Die Gerichte waren alle geschmacklich gut, frisch zubereitet mit ausreichenden Portionen. Der jungen Servicemitarbeiter/ -innen waren freundlich und aufmerksam. Wir fühlten uns als Gäste wohl und werden gerne wiederkommen.

I was there for a drink and was awful. They put in the menu that you can order homemade lemonade but they bring a cheap soda instead of real lemonade.

Can be better. Pepsi-Cola from a large bottle with no injection instead of your own bottle of Coca-Cola. Holtkamp bitterballs that are really delicious, but here they were fried too long and they exploded. And the service was not very fast.

It was a while ago, but the bitterballen still taste just as good. Especially with an IJwit!

Love Love Love! Went here for dinner after looking at three or four other restaurants around the 9 streets, and they did not disappoint! Beautiful inside, with outdoor tables overlooking the Canal with a view of 3 Bridges that light up at night. As a vegetarian, it’s been hard to find food in Amsterdam, but this restaurant had many great options. The Green Pea soup and Truffle Sweet Potato Fries were some of the best food I’ve had all trip. Everyone else in my party also enjoyed their food. Would definitely recommend, and would come back if my trip were longer.

Gorgeous spot, beautiful ambience. Some of the best vegetarian food I’ve had in a sixteen day trip in Europe. The staff was attentive and kind, and the beer selection was great. Definitely recommend the Witbier if that’s your jam!! We had the cauliflower steak and the lemon ricotta ravioli and it was superb!

A typical cracking café right on the water and (unfortunately) also on the street, where in places people, especially locals, rush past at murderous speeds. But: the café itself is a dream. The strawberry cheesecake is particularly impressive thanks to the Muso Chocolat as a topper.

We attended a rehearsal dinner here, and the food was excellent! The couple booked the upstairs portion of the restaurant, and it was very nice. We enjoyed it a lot!

Overall, our experience at Van Puffelen was pleasant. The food was delicious and reasonably priced at around 100 euros for two people. However, there was a significant delay between our starter and main course, which was disappointing. On the bright side, the staff were friendly and attentive, and the drinks arrived promptly. Despite the delay, we enjoyed our meal.

We had a very pleasant meal here, the service and food were all good. The place had a lot of character and a nice atmosphere.

My experience was disappointing. I ordered pasta with prawns, but unfortunately I was only told later that this was not available. That wasn't a problem, because I was also curious about the risotto with wild mushrooms. However, what I got was more of a soupy risotto with chestnut mushrooms, without any wild mushrooms in sight. The service was friendly, but it was disappointing that our food was on the table within 5 minutes of ordering. In addition, we were constantly asked if we wanted to order dessert, while we were still at the table for 30 minutes. This made us feel like we had to leave. It's a shame, because the atmosphere was nice and cozy. For next time we will probably only order a drink as the food wasn't worth it.

Booked in advance as thought it would be busy but surprised to see it wasn't. It's a very beautiful impressive venue. Nice ambience and friendly staff. Not particularly attentive but it was fine. The food was absolutely incredible though. We had the fish /mushroom risotto and both were fantastic. Quite expensive but food was worth it. Not huge portions. Would recommend!

A more or less democratic restaurant. The place seemed quite noisy. The portions for their price seemed very small, and so that you don’t feel like they didn’t give you enough of the main dish, they put on all sorts of different side dishes, for example, I took sea bass, so there was 70 grams of it, and 70 grams of gratin, and some herbs for extras, tasteless mussels, baked peppers, as if they put in everything that would be a pity to throw away (((. The scallop and cheeks for the appetizer were not bad, but again, very little... I wouldn’t recommend it, but everyone has different tastes...
