Not customer-friendly, they are laughing with colleagues, and when you ask for ice cream, it's sold out. When you ask for a different kind of ice cream, it's sold out too. Never again.

The ice cream is very good, at a reasonable price and the place has that old-school Italian gelateria vibe! Also the lady at the counter is lovely!!

I’ve been coming to Venetië every summer for 16 years to get ice cream. Childhood memories in South Amsterdam. Since the new owner took over, that’s completely gone... such a shame. I walked in, no warm atmosphere, no Italian/Amsterdam vibe. It was cool... empty... uncomfortable. I looked at the flavors... yes, dead flavors. I asked for the well-known Tutti Frutti ice cream and the lady indicated that the new owner hadn't kept any of the old flavors. Why??? Bring back the old ice cream flavors/brands. In the end, I got a banana ice cream; wow, that was such cheap milk ice cream. Poor quality. You could taste that no real banana was used in it. Unfortunately, I won't be coming back. Had some great years at Venetië, good memories 💖

This was once the best ice cream parlor in Amsterdam, but since there has been a new owner, the quality of the ice cream has deteriorated dramatically. It is a real shame.

I became an habitue of the place since moved to the neighborhood and enjoyed the service and products. Until one day I showed up with my 4 years old toddler because he just wanted a couple of plastic disposable spoons. That's when the person on the other side of the counter snapped at us over the spoons complaining that I had taken one already. I felt super embarrassed and left. A few minutes later, I went back, left 10 euros on the counter as kind of protest for the mistreatment, and left to never return.

The ice is great Nicely newly refurbished Just remove the icebreaker in the evening and put the ice back in a clean container in the morning. This hadn't been done before and it looked very messy.

We arrived at 22:54. And they cheerfully told us we were closed. Even though they are open until 23:00. Absolutely no service, and on these summer evenings too. We won't be coming back. I understand there's no line here. Because there's no warm welcome either. Shout out to Pizza Ice Cream 100m down the road.

I only had cash. No, only debit card, so no ice cream. Money is a means of payment too, after all.

The new owner is a complete failure. So unfriendly to customers, just chatting with his acquaintances while we stood waiting to order. He looked at us multiple times without asking if he could help us. Only when we asked to be helped did he come over to us, while he was still talking to his friends... and then he gave us a weird look for saying something about it... what a nasty man, we will never be seen here again (after all these years).

The new owner really doesn't have the place under control. He made us wait 15 minutes unnecessarily because he was just busy chatting. He looked me in the eye multiple times and just kept bluntly brushing me off. Then I approached the man myself with "hi, can I order?", because apparently we were invisible in the place or something. Next, I asked to take an ice cream sundae to go, which is actually on the menu, only to get a really hard "no" in my face. Even though it's literally on the menu?! Then I pointed out that this still belongs to the old owner -.- Just take it off the menu then? Really rude, unfriendly place. I used to go there often enough, but now you won't see me there anymore! Bye bye.

The number 1 ice cream parlor in the Netherlands. The Quiliy Time is an act of exceptional craftsmanship to enjoy. My favorite is the double mocha sundae with Amaretti and double whipped cream. I have been coming here for 35 years, since I was a little boy, and before that my father and grandfather, so I can certainly say about this ice cream parlor that you go back in your mind to the most beautiful moments you share with family.

Delicious ice cream 'come a Gamba e Cipriano' (Reguliersbree/Kalverstraat). Can the cassata come back? And it would be nice if all the staff spoke some Italian, especially the flavors.

I have been a regular customer for 21 years, but as of today, that is over. The ice cream from the past is gone; it is now tasteless. The atmosphere in the shop has also disappeared. As a little girl, I remember Venice always being packed with people. The business has been taken over, and that is clearly noticeable. This is a perfect example of how a company sometimes revolves around one person, and when that person leaves, the soul disappears from the business as well. As far as I'm concerned, this place can close. I recommend going to Pisa, just a five-meter walk away. At least there you won't get hazelnut ice cream that tastes like milk. Cheap junk, with an expensive price tag. And a new owner who reacts way too harshly to reviews. Ridiculous.

Always good, of course. Even better back when Father was the boss. He made Casata ice cream. Junior doesn't feel like doing too much work. A shame, it was a great product.

It's nice to sit here and not have that pushy "eat and go" thing going on. The ice cream tastes great; you don't need to be a rocket scientist to understand it. I think that's great ;)

Do you eat ice cream 🍨 in winter ☃️? You know I do. 😋 But, for some reason, there are so many people who don't 🤷. In fact, most 🇮🇹 Italian gelato parlors close during the coldest months (which can last as long as 8 months, apparently 😅). In Amsterdam 🇳🇱, one of our friends took us to a parlor he used to go to when he was a child. On our way there, he told us he didn't know if the place was open because the owners tend to close in winter... or when they feel like doing it! 🤣 The place is called Venetië Ijs and... it was open! 🥳 Apparently the place is quite famous cause we had to queue. It looks almost vintage. And the ice cream itself is vintage... I can understand why somebody who ate there as a child likes it. But I've tried so much better ice cream in Amsterdam... sorry, I've liked better other ice creams: in the end, it's all a matter of taste. 😇 I had hazelnut, which was pretty good, and pistachio, which I didn't like much cause it tasted a lot like cream and not so much like pistachio. 😔 And the pistachio cream melted quite fast. 👎 The cone was good though. The service was ok and the prices were reasonable for today's standards and the quantities (which were ok, sufficient): €3.25 for 2 scoops, €4.9 for 3 (and they offer a 1-scoop kid format 👏). Another good thing is that you can sit inside and outside: I always find it better when I can relax and enjoy my cream instead of just standing outside or walking. 👍 I wouldn't mind having ice cream there again, but I wouldn't go there on purpose. 🤷 . . . Quality & taste: 5/10 Quantities: 7/10 Atmosphere: 6/10 Originality: 6/10 Ratio price / quality: 8/10 Service: 9/10 How I felt afterwards: 6/10

From being a regular for 20 years, I've never seen them again. Since the new owner, this place has been horribly bad. If that guy with a cropped hairline and earbuds blasting music is behind the counter, you'd better walk away. I've been incredibly rude, disinterested, and received terrible quality from him four times in a row. He also always plays antisocial music in the store. If I want to get a milkshake or a tub of ice cream and relax, I'd rather not hear music about drugs, gangs, murder, etc. His ice cream seems to be pre-melted. Today I had a milkshake with only one meager scoop of ice cream (I normally get 2 or 3) and lukewarm, sour milk in it, and he got a big mouthful when I said something about it. €7 for an "XXL" tub of ice cream (which used to be more than twice as big and were now only €5.50) and terribly presented with more air in the tub than ice cream. You can also get a lukewarm, tasteless milkshake for €4.50 that tastes like sewage with just a hint of ice cream. If the tall guy with shoulder-length hair is there, you can still give it a try. He makes the best of it, and his quality is really good. That's also the only reason this place still gets a star. All in all... if that nice guy is there, I might come back... but otherwise, I'm not going to see him again after 20 years. I'm really bummed about this.

Walking back to our hotel after dinner we happened upon this gelato place and decided to take a look. So glad we did! It’s a highlight of our stay here! I can’t eat dairy and I was surprised and pleased to have so many vegan choices. The chocolate was so rich and delicious. The passion fruit was perfect, blood orange was really delicious as well. Took me right back to Italy. Highly recommend!

Absolutely love this place. No frills espresso, exactly the way I like it. The new interior kept the Italian vibe. Morning sun on the terrace, cozy inside & if you like it quiet, there's space in the back. Also my favorite neighborhood place for after dinner ice cream.

The ice cream is delicious, I can't say anything bad about it. But there's really very little ice cream in the container. The bottom of the container is already halfway down. I eat ice cream often, but I've never had containers like this. And then the ice cream is smoothed out on top because that's how it's taught, I heard from the student working there.

The ice cream is of excellent quality, and the cups are filled in the traditional way with a spatula. However, the quantity is truly minimal; the cup with three flavors was gone with three A4-sized pieces of each flavor. The cookies that were on top were still under the rim! This wasn't the case in the past, but I'm really disappointed.

June 2024: I've been coming here since I was a little girl and the nocciola still tastes the same! Edit June 2025: I grew up with Venice Ice Cream. All it took was someone at the table to say Venice after dinner and we were already in the car. Double-parked, the line was outside and everyone was sitting on the benches. Today I walk in and the first thing I ask is: 'has it been sold?', because you can feel it right away. The iconic cups with prints are gone, the upholstery has been replaced by cheap fabric that is sloppy and there is now an IKEA-like photo of gondola men on the wall. As if that brings back the atmosphere. You can think you can buy a business, put some TikTok-style videos online and then hope that people keep coming back, but without soul it is just empty decor. I came here to cheer myself up but walked out the door rather disappointed. Happy for Roberto that he is now enjoying Italy, he deserves it, but what a loss for Amsterdam. It used to be a good ice cream shop, but it isn't anymore and then add that they are also the owner of the Gamba ice cream parlor, which has not existed in Amsterdam for at least 25 years.

Felt like being in Italy, great selection and flavour and very reasonable price. High recommend the venue is also very cool!

Got an ice cream in Venice today... "Was" the better ice cream shop, what a disappointment... A tiny container with 2 flavors "together" 1 old-fashioned bun" with a dollop of whipped cream. Yogurt & chocolate...my eye already said this looks different... And it turned out that the flavors were far from ok! Seemed like cheap ready-made ice cream from a mediocre snack bar... Not to mention the price. I have the feeling that the business has been sold, otherwise it will go bankrupt. No more Venice for me, that's over 🤷

Jaren terug kwamen wij regelmatig een ijsje halen bij deze ijssalon. Vroeger was het the place to be! Helaas is er nog maar weinig overgebleven van deze zaak. De eigenaar een stuk ouder geworden, de charme van de oude inrichting is onveranderd. Echter het ijs is zo enorm achteruit gegaan, niet te geloven. Mango en Malaga smaakten werkelijk nergens naar. Geen smaak of kraak. Structuur van het ijs ook niet oké. Verder relatief weinig keus in de vitrine. Daarnaast was het op de zondag, ondanks het mooie weer, opvallend rustig. Vroeger was het terras afgeladen en stond men tot buiten in de rij. Hoe schrijnend kan het zijn, dat bij de concurrent zo’n 100 meter verderop wel een flinke rij met mensen, dit zegt m.i. alles…

Good ice cream, had the pistachio flavour which was very good, not too sweet. Used to go to Pisa ijs around the corner but might just switch to Venetië ijs!

5 star from me.I've had a cone, pistachio and coffee -it was really really tasty. The price was really reasonable, it was just 4 e. Amazing.

Last time I was there was 2018. I was there very often as a child in the 90s. Never for cones then, but always for cuts. Now that I think about it, I don't think I've ever eaten a cone here, always sat inside for coupes. Simply the best.

I was in Amsterdam for work and on the advice of a colleague I wanted to try the ice cream from the oldest ice cream shop in Amsterdam, the same family has existed since 1939, I must say that the ice cream is really excellent, better than in Italy, they produce it on site daily!

The ice cream is absolutely the best ice cream in Amsterdam. There are several ice cream parlors these days. But here the ice cream is the tastiest. I used to visit my grandmother and often get an ice cream there about 50/55 years ago

This business has been around for more than 20 years and still delivers good ice cream.

I came to Venice as a twelve-year-old schoolboy in 1973. Back then, the father, or perhaps grandfather, of the current owner already made delicious ice cream there. Now, half a century later, I still visit there regularly. The quality is unchanged. You have to taste it to understand it. Natural flavors and also fresh in a way. Not as lumpy and cloyingly sweet as the nearby competition. With great understanding for the personnel issues, it is a pity that the opening schedule is not always followed in practice. I'll definitely come back, but people are still standing in front of a roller shutter. And will the left side of the store ever open again? It is such a festive setting with all that marble and brass. Eating an ice cream sundae or sorbet there, also called "sit ice cream" in our family, was always the ultimate treat for me.

Charming old-fashioned ice cream parlor. My father has been coming here since he was a child. He takes me here every now and then and we share their specialty: spaghetti ice cream (5 coconut ice cream scoops pressed through a sort of spaghetti making device, with sweet sauce and toppings). I have not tried the other flavours (you can also get regular scoops and milkshakes) but we always enjoy this one.

Venetië is er al van voor dat ik er was, en dat is best lang. Nog steeds de heerlijkste ijssalon ever. Kan geen Massimo Gelato of Pisa tegenop. Probeer het en je wilt niets anders meer..dus ik geef eigenlijk 10 sterren . Wat ook leuk is dat ze er nog steeds OOK Nederlands spreken...en dat is mooi.

Very good classic Italian gelato. One of the better places to get icecream in Amsterdam. The flavours are rich and heavy. The structure is amazing and there a lot of favours to choose from. 7.3/10

Simply amazing On a warm afternoon I felt like having some ice cream. I remembered walking by Venetie about a week before so I thought I’d give it a try. I ordered what I usually order: one scoop of pistachio ice cream in a cone. Maybe it was the Italian atmosphere inside, or the beautiful day outside but this was by far the best scoop of ice cream I had in a long time. The ice has just the right texture and tasted great. Even the cone had a special after taste. I’ll be back!

God wat zal ik blij zijn als ze weer open zijn. IJs eten in Venetië is als thuiskomen en weten dat die ellendige winter voorbij is. En er is geen betere ijssalon in A'dam en omstreken, en ik kan t weten, want ik heb de meeste geprobeerd. Als je Venetië geproefd hebt ben je voorgoed verpest. Das t enige minpuntje.
