Cheese fondue was absolutely legit and prices surprisingly reasonable for the location. Bigger inside than I expected, warm and friendly.

Casual atmosphere, very attentive service, delicious food and drinks. Generous portions! Very happy with this "living room" close to home.

Stopped in 2 or 3 times for a few pints during a short break away to Amsterdam. Can't comment on the food as we were only there for beer 🤣. Seating area is excellent just to sit and pass the time. Place was also very clean which is always important. Staff were great, really friendly and it was great having a chat with Ruben in particular whilst I waited for wifey. Already looking forward to going back 🤩

A small, typical bar and restaurant. Located right on the market square, the outdoor seating is like everywhere else: small but nice, and of course, as always, full. The food was delicious, good, and plentiful.

Only came here for a quick beer but enjoyed the experience and atmosphere on Villa Nieuwmarkt’s terrace so much! It’s a great place for people watching, facing a busy bike path and historical square. They have Heineken on tap and vaasjes are €4 each.

We actually wanted to go to Café Bern for cheese fondue, but it was full. So we went to Villa Nieuwmarkt because they also served cheese fondue. The waiter was rather unfriendly from the start. The cheese fondue was "okay," but the "fresh" vegetables had seen their best. Since we didn't tip due to the rather poor service, we didn't even get a "goodbye." Plus, it was totally overpriced!

The vibe is really good and the people who work here are really nice !!

It was a quick stop for us, and we only ordered one beer and fries each. The area and the view are very good, but they should plan on having more staff. I wanted to go in myself and ask if it's self-service, but you just wait a long time for the staff to make it outside, although I don't blame the staff for that... The beer was cold and good, and the fries were standard, not homemade but well-fried! We can't comment on the other food, but the menu was very appealing!

I was completely thrilled: the dishes were incredibly tasty, lovingly prepared and perfectly seasoned. The staff was attentive, friendly and always there with a smile. The ambience exudes elegance and coziness at the same time - ideal for a relaxed evening. Gladly again at any time!

We became aware of the shed through the good reviews and expectations were high. The menu promised, among other things, homemade pizza. We ordered pizzas, but they were anything but home-made and had at most been thawed in the house. The food from the others looked okay, but requests were not addressed. The drinks were put on the table with smacks and in general the waiters made a very drunk and stoned impression. The restaurant itself did not create a clean and tidy atmosphere and overall we were very disappointed and will not be returning. too bad.

Excellent location, in that you can even catch the LAST rays of the sun on the terrace directly at the corner of Nieuwemarkt. LOVE the heater on the terrace.. However .. staff could do well with customer interfacing training. Currently, “the serving staff does what they feel like..” Tip: get your own drinks at the bar if you are visiting the terrace

The restaurant is good and the Kipsade is definitely a memorable dish you won’t forget. It may confuse you at first but it will really open your eyes to a unique culinary experience you won’t find anywhere else. A true signature dish.

Amazing! Food was great in a great location. Thin crust pizza but with loads of toppings. Our server Tarik was so lovely and friendly too.

Friendly service, a bit of a drab, dark atmosphere and lighting.

The food is super reasonably priced and fresh. We had soup of the day and fish of the day along with fondue. The portions were very generous and filling. Loads of fresh bread, vegetables were clearly all fresh and nicely mixed. The bar person was very polite and the chef was so considerate and friendly. No one rushed us out even though we were the only customers in the place for nearly 1hr at the end of the night. A great discovery right by the Nieumarkt metro station. Clean, cosy and overall a quality surprise in a tourist area.

I was there with my children expecting our food, which was late over 1 hour. But the peak of disappointment was when we saw a mouse running from downstairs (where the kitchen was) towards the tables! We immediately cancelled the order and left. If you care about you and your family’s health, please don’t visit this place.

I have been going here for about 3 years now and they have recently hired new staff. The man came out barely speaking English with a heavy Indian accent and was being generally rude. He then asked multiple customers sitting outside including me and my wife for cigarettes. I refused and he asked the people sitting next to us who gave him one he then proceeded to smoke this cigarette outside next to the entrance of the cafe, blocking the entrance while on the phone when i wanted to pay. Normally they come outside and you can pay outside, but he said this was not possible. Bad new staff i wont be coming back again.

Es un pequeño restaurante genial con una sensación cálida y amable. Visitamos este lugar hace unos años en una antigua visita a Amsterdam y tuvimos que volver. En esa ocasión, visitamos por la noche, pero esta vez fue una parada para almorzar. Nuestra atracción principal era la fondue que descubrimos que está solo en el menú de la noche, pero el camarero amablemente preguntó a la cocina si prepararían uno, lo que hicieron - y chico era bueno! Tienen un gato encantador que ha sido bien cuidado por todos los clientes y ama un alboroto si vas a él, pero no hace ningún intento de interrumpir o molestar. La comida era genial, y el precio era muy razonable. Vale la pena visitarlo. Estoy seguro de que volveremos de nuevo cuando vayamos a Dam.

effectivement, ça peut être long pour manger (pas pour boire). dans notre cas, installés immédiatement un samedi soir, mais pas moins d’une heure d’attente après la commande, ça use… les burgers sont quelconques mais pas graillonneux,c’est déjà ça… 17,50€ quand-même, et aucun changement de garniture (patates douce, salade) possible. dommage car les frites ne sont pas bonnes (genre MacDo). le service est nul, on finit par aller chercher nos couverts, puis sel et poivre nous-mêmes. il y avait du monde mais ce n’était pas salle comble, pourtant. non, ça ne vaut vraiment pas le détour.

The service was impeccable, with attentive staff who made us feel welcome and recommended some dishes and drinks that turned out to be amazing. The food was delicious; we ordered a variety of options, including the kipsaté, which was absolutely spectacular. The ingredients were fresh, and every dish was beautifully presented. The selection of beers and alcoholic beverages was excellent, perfect to accompany the meal or simply enjoy with good company. Definitely a great spot to spend a pleasant evening with friends. Two correct things in the dish: the meat and the potatoes, the broccoli not cooked “cold” as well as the carrots. Cat walking around the restaurant lacks hygiene... 30 minutes for entrees served, 15 minutes to get a bottle of water which arrives with soap still on it, shameful... Unprofessional server etc etc Don't come

Service to be deplored in terms of the kitchen I could have done it myself at least the raw vegetables would have been cooked because the broccoli was as hard as the table the same for the carrots and the three potatoes in the middle of the plate made me pity 25€ per dish a shame

A long time to pick up our order. The server does not take the cards back from the table. The cutlery was not even placed on the table. Once served everything was way overcooked. Supplement there is a cat in a restaurant, hygiene level I find it rather average. DON’T COME AND EAT

Staff pays no attention to the guests... you have to ask for everything. The famous chicken satay is very basic. After the long wait everything tastes good. The homemade pizza also had a slightly frozen taste. After eating (where you indicate that you are not very satisfied with the quality) you are never asked again if you want coffee or anything else.... Whereby if you ask for the bill you are ordered to walk to the bar. Fortunately my company was great and the wine was delicious. That saved the evening. Next time we will definitely go somewhere else.

The food was good. The capucino was perfect . The service is average...

I'm not used to give a bad advice, but the dinner was terrible. I ordered a pizza and I can be sure it was frozen, and not even a good frozen pizza, waiters tried to be accommodating but I don't recommend this "restaurant" at all. At least not until they cook real menus.

Nice place, especially if you want tapenade and beer poured over you, otherwise nice and quiet (it's a gamble whether you get your food). When ordering beer you have to wait because the glasses were empty until you give them back. Nice with friends

A spacious and beautiful place where we had our drinks in the square.

All was good with the service and atmosphere until after midnight when the owner arrived and charged us an extra €72. The bill was for drinks our group had either already paid for or hadn’t even ordered. Despite showing our debits from online banking and even her own barstaff telling her we’d been paying per round the whole evening, she persisted with her ridiculous claim that implied two people had downed 14 beers in their first round. Utter nonsense. We paid under duress as we are not going to be the crooks in this story. After many enjoyable visits to the pub over the years this experience has made it our last.

Personally, I didn't like the food, but the atmosphere was okay. It's okay to sit outside and have a quick glass of Heineken before entering the accommodation.

Service was good, but food was unacceptable and expensive.

This place is fine if you want to grab some drinks, but the food is far from good, especially for a place with such positive reviews. I ordered a crispy chicken burger, but the chicken was not crispy at all. There was no bacon, no fresh avocado, no chili sauce or caramelized union on it. The food was not served at the same time, so we could not start eating all at once. The burger was not really warm either and the bun was not soft, but dense and chewy. To make it worse, the fries tasted oily and stale. My friend ordered the cheese fondue and the amount of vegetables was really sparse. There was also raw onion in the mix. The servers were not really polite and were rather annoyed by our presence. I definitely do not recommend this place if you care about food quality.

We were with a large group (13 people), but the kitchen was able to respond well to this with a varied starter 'dish'.

Gisteren weer voor het eerst na jaren weer geweest. Mijn eten was koud (kipsate). Van mijn vriendinnen ging het wel goed. Mijn eten teruggegeven. Na een halfuur kwam het opgewarmd terug. Dan denk je…. Dat is wel heel lang… dat klopte ook, want de satehsaus was wat harder geworden dan normaal en plakte aan de kip vast. Dus zonder eten weg. Jammer! Het is een leuke plek. Maar ik kom hier niet snel weer terug!

Main server was not attentive from start to finish. 2 tables in the restraunt and 15 minutes waiting to order. Server did not ask if we would like any drinks did not give any cutlery. When I made a request to alter my food he cursed at me and asked “why” I wanted my burger changed a little. Waiting 25 minutes for food to be served. Overall bad experience.

We drank some good beers there, a bit too expensive. The pizzas, served until late in the evening, are only frozen pizzas. It helps, but don't expect great cuisine.

The mood is relaxed even though it's pretty busy on a Friday night, their "Famous Villa Satake" is wickedly good and the staff attentive. Well worth the visit!

50 minutes d'attente pour être servi... nous étions 6 et les plats sont arrivés au compte-gouttes...sauf le 2nd que le serveur a fait tomber par terre avant d'atteindre notre table..

Het eten was matig. De kipsaté was veel te droog. De was geen enkele glimlach op de bediening. Vaak eerst een zucht. Ook waren wij nog niet klaar met eten en de borden werden al weggehaald. Niet voor herhaling vatbaar.

Can't say food is bad. Entrecôte had a perfect cooking. The pepper sauce was really bad. Too much gelatinous!

Great spot not far from a market and Centraal. Calm location, wonderful service, and a cat to give pets if you're missing your furry friends from home. Steak with veggies and potatoes was wonderful! Will definitely bookmark for next time. Clean bathroom as well, which is delightful compared to some in the city center... :)
