It's a small Surinamese restaurant. I ordered the shrimp bami and found it absolutely spectacular. The flavors were noticeable, different, and the bami wasn't greasy like stir-fry dishes sometimes are. The service was very fast, and you can tell the locals really appreciate it. Good prices and excellent food. I would return.

Normally the food is delicious, but it's a shame the website isn't updated when the restaurant is closed for holidays. I checked the website beforehand, but now I'm driving across Amsterdam for nothing. I'm going home with an empty stomach😖

What surprised me the most was how quickly the food came out. It arrived less than 5 minutes after I ordered, and it was absolutely delicious. I ordered soup, and it came with rice, which was impressive and delicious, so I was doubly impressed. 🥰 It's a bit saltier than Southeast Asian rice noodles, but the chicken flavor is strong. I personally recommend it! 🙏 The accompanying sauce is spicy and even more satisfying! I can't remember the last time I drank all the soup. I highly recommend it.

Today I ordered three portions of bami with vegetables and chicken, and saoto soup, expecting a nice meal. When I got home, I quickly noticed that the bami was overcooked and had a strange raw and sour smell. Saoto also lacked flavor and the fries were missing. So, I won't be ordering again. A no. No.

Everything was delicious here. I had the Saoto chicken soup, chicken and plantain satay. Owners were very kind. Grateful I had time to stop by and try this restaurant.

Ordered via thuisbezorgd. Didn't have to wait long for delivery. The bami is tasty. Only the meat is way too cooked.

Nice little shop with friendly and fast employees. Add some flavor to the bami and cucumber and it will be a hotspot.

If you are looking for authentic Surinamese food this is the place. The Saoto is simply amazing and the bami and nasi are also delicious. We also had the baka bana, loempia, and satay and had no complaints. We came back two days later because we liked it so much.

My first time having Surinamese food (and hearing about Suriname itself). I was very very impressed. The tempeh roti was delicious. Great flavours and texture even in takeaway. The Soto was also delicious though difficult to assemble takeaway. The Soto reminded me of a pho with a rich delicious broth. Highly recommend !

Based on reviews, I picked up Sauto from another store... I don't understand what these fantastic reviews are based on. As a Surinamese, I have eaten a lot of sauto in my life, but wow, I have never had such a salty sauto that my tongue hurt. What a pity…. I called twice at 7:30 PM to share this, but no response. Hence this review as feedback.

First time I ordered here paid nearly 50 euro for two meals..Extremely disappointed my chicken tikka was seriously not done with love. Also no Tandoori oven cooked this chicken. Extras such as sauce was terribly fit for one person not two. Rice is Rice.I really do not understand why any this is rated by others as a great retaurant. They are stingy, with food

If you like Unox soup, you've come to the right place. The Roti is literally water and starch with spices. Do people really have no idea what real food is anymore?

Still one of the very best roti makers we know. We came there a lot years ago and today we know it for the first time. For us it is worth driving from The Hague to Amsterdam. Top quality roti, this time with chicken, fantastic portions. Saoto was eaten around us, sandwiches and telo. Everyone was enjoying themselves! Just as a small, simple shop can excel!

Always come here to get food during work. Affordable prices for large portions and nice staff. It is also always ready quickly. There is literally nothing I can think of that could be better.

If you want to eat the shredded chicken noodles online, just order Saoto soup with noodle. The soup noodles are added with pepper and green onions, which is very suitable for Asian tastes🤤

The best Surinamese food so far. We are critical because we only go for the best food, traditionally and prepared with love, both at home when I cook myself, and from restaurants and takeaway. The food at Surinamese restaurants is often weak and watery, downright bad. The food here is full of flavor, matched with the right spices. The moksi meti sausage was super soft and not normally so well seasoned. A big 10. Some downsides: The rice for the nasi was cooked a little too hard and the meat for the moksi meti was sloppily prepared and not enough with only a few small pieces of pork and sausage. We prefer to pay a little more for more meat, as befits moksi meti. We will definitely come back.

I had no idea what Surinam food was, but it was fantastic. I had trouble ordering but was recommended the saotoh soup (reminded me of a tasty Vietnamese pho), chicken sate, and tempeh roti. No regrets except for the fact that I overate. :)

Really nice noodle soup. Loved it. The portion size is good as well! One of the best food we’ve had in Amsterdam and very well priced. Tips: the restaurant only allow take away after 1830 and all the tables and chairs would be collected away. The first day we went we didn’t get to sit down so we came the next day.

This afternoon I had a large soato soup, the broth tasted like a dissolved Maggi block with white or black pepper for some spiciness. Fresh herbs such as: salem leaf, lemongrass and galangal are also used in broth. If you don't have a good cook, you better close the place. The fact that there are customers who like it, they don't know any better. Never again for me.😬

Ordered friday evening noodles with lamb nasi chicken satay with vegetables.. everything was so bland and no taste and as if it was yesterday's food.. never again.. satay looked so light and everything was tasteless.. v3rw1cht your quality for what j3 paid anyway...no rubbish, each x the taste is different, just note...only the chicken pie was edible...it's a shame

ok guys review time - cheap! - really solid Indonesian food - lots of food for what you pay i hadn't had Indonesian food in a long time, and this was a great way to come back to it. there's not much of a way to describe it, it's just really good. the saté was a bit heavier than what I would've liked, but I think that ended up making the meal better.

Echt echt top. Oeeee ik had van de week bruine bonen met rijst. Echt niet normaal! Ook de saté, en roti waren echt goed. Ik ga nu weer heen even wat anders proberen. Super mooi terras. Een parel.

Small Surinamese joint with a nice and kind service. Very affordable and tasty food, one of the best meal I had in Amsterdam. The meals are tasty, flavourful with nice quantities. You don't have to spend much to have more than a decent meal. It was the first time we were trying Suriname cuisine, and it's a banger! A nice fusion between South American and Indonesian food.

The saoto soup was amazing and full of flavor. I also really enjoyed the fried plantain with peanut sauce. I was not super familiar with Surinamese food but the staff was super friendly and helped me navigate the menu.

Fresh, fast, affordable, and incredibly tasty. A server recommended the spicy tempeh roti and it is mindblowingly flavorful, texturally nice, and with generously seasoned veggies. Friendly service and straight forward menu. Both the roti and bami are very fresh and lekker!! I ordered takeout and plan to return to chill on the patio in such a quaint area. Cheers.

Tien jaar lang heb ik als bewoner van de Albert Cuyp straat minstens 1 keer per week een soato gehaald van Warung Swietie, ofwel voor de lunch of als avondeten. Nu ik al drie jaar in Utrecht woon gaat er geen trip naar Amsterdam zonder een bezoekje aan deze plek om iets af te halen. De roti is heerlijk, de mensen super vriendelijk en de soato is de beste die ik ooit gegeten heb!

Best food I had in Amsterdam. They were so friendly and recommended we get Rames (noodle dish) and the mixed meat rice dish. Saoto was extremely good. Memorable first experience with Surinamese food! Definitely recommend for anyone visiting the Netherlands!

Hun baka bana is lekker, maar ze maken helaas geen traditionele Javaanse bami. Het proeft niet naar bami zoals het hoort te zijn. Ik heb precies 1 hap bami gegeten. Ik ben na de 1ste keer nog een keer geweest en zag dat op een aantal tafels waarvan de bezoekers waren vertrokken ook veel bami op het bord lag. Dwz dat niet ik alleen de bami niks vind. De saoto was de 1ste keer lekker, maar daarna niet meer. Ik kreeg ook nog een verkeerde bestelling mee. Denk dat ik misschien nog een baka bana zal kopen, maar niks meer

Heerlijke plek om af te halen of om ter plaatse te eten. Mijn favorieten zijn Bami met groenten en kipfilet of een lekkere Saoto! Goed geprijsd en mooie porties.

Authentieke Javaanse gerechten. Klein en dat maakt dat de aandacht heerlijk persoonlijk is. Je bent geen nummer. Men weet wat je lust en hoe je het wilt. Het eten is lekker en ook de bediening. Absoluut niet duur.

Nasi met tempeh was heerlijk, alles smaakte heel verfijnd, met roergebakken spitskool en kousenband, reepjes omelet en heerlijke sambal. De bakanana met satesaus kon niet beter; knapperig, niet te vet. Ook de vegetarische roti smaakte erg goed. Kan niet beter dan dit.

Persoonlijk vond ik de bami iets te gaar en te vet. De smaak was goed en de kipfilet was uitstekend. Zeer vriendelijke mensen.

Ik heb er in Amsterdam heel erg veel geprobeerd, maar Swietie heeft de allerbeste Saoto soep van Amsterdam. Snel, goedkoop, heerlijk van smaak en een mooie portie. De madam Jeanette die ze erbij geven is ook precies goed en alle mensen die er werken zijn super aardig. Pretentieloos en onopvallend maar erg goed, zeker in de Pijp is dat echt iets om te koesteren. De sateetjes zijn ook heerlijk.
