We ordered two drinks, and the lull one was so watered down that it tasted more like water with a hint of juice. We sent it back and ordered another. To our dismay, they insisted on charging us for both drinks. I complained that I wasn't going to pay for something I sent back, so he brought it back to the table! It was terrible service, and it left us feeling ripped off. The food was ok but very pricey. The Peruvian ceviche has a good taste and was acceptable. The Ecuadorian was not near the real thing. It had no taste and was not close to what an Ecuadorian ceviche looks like. Overall the whole experience was not ok, and we won't visit this place again.
I've been to this place a few times already. The last time I went, I asked about the free prawn crackers. They only give them for orders over 35.00EUR and I had spent 34.50EUR. The man at the counter said this with a straight face. I left without free prawn crackers.
Horrible bartender last night. You don't yell at guests/customers when they accidentally put their hat on. And if you, as a guest/customer, try to explain it, you get yelled at even more. Horrible person. I'm a bartender myself, and that's no way to treat guests/customers. If you can't handle the hospitality industry anymore, quit.
I waited around 15 minutes even though clearly signaled to the waiter that I wanted to order. He completely ignored me and didn't say a word. The place wasn't busy at all, just a few people inside. It also looked a bit sketchy, just some tables here and there with no counter (Another reason why attending to customers should be prioritised)
I simply left because the way was treated felt really disrespectful!
An Indonesian restaurant serving halal meals.
Same concept as the Indonesian restaurants we have in Saudi Arabia… many dishes and you choose the items.
I'd give it 3.9 stars. I've been coming here almost weekly since it opened, so I thought it was time for a comprehensive review. Initially, it was extremely good. A very friendly, hardworking Indonesian family ran the place, and the food was of excellent quality. I think 10 euros for a meal with quality meat is a good price, considering you'd easily pay more than 5 euros for a container of meat in the supermarket, and even then, it's full of water and you have to prepare it yourself. I find other reviews here about it not being truly Indonesian a bit weak. I'm no expert, but I think; you don't get "real Chinese" at a Chinese restaurant either. What matters most to me is that the food is tasty and high-quality, and that's what it is. I also think the food could be a bit spicier, but most Dutch people can't handle that, so I completely understand why they do it that way. Perhaps it's an idea to choose one dish and make it really spicy?
Now for my drawbacks, which are why I'm not giving it 5 stars.
Unfortunately, the quality has declined over the past year. It feels a bit like once the good reviews came in, everything was replaced with a cheaper alternative. That's understandable, but a shame. The container the food came in has been replaced by a more awkward and cheaper one, the hardworking, friendly family has been replaced by cheap students, and the food itself is also of lower quality. For example: the rendang used to be tender and cut into small pieces. Now, it's large, hard chunks. Leaves that are added during cooking for flavor but aren't pleasant to eat used to be expertly fished out. These days, they're simply left in.
All in all, it's still a very good meal for a reasonable price, but I do hope the good quality is maintained and doesn't deteriorate much further.
Disappointing Tourist Trap
Unfortunately, this establishment is a definite tourist trap.
From the moment we arrived, the experience was frustrating. We had to wait at least 25 minutes just to receive our food.
When the meal finally arrived, the quality was shockingly poor and cheap. The soup was served so hot that it actually burnt our tongues, making it impossible to enjoy. The accompanying bread was stale and over-toasted, offering nothing good to the plate. In fact, nothing about the food we received was remotely good.
If you are looking for a meal, you might try it once out of curiosity, but rest assured, this is a truly poor-quality experience, and we will never return.
Scammers. they cancelled my order without letting me know, didn’t return my money, and the woman on the phone claiming to be the owner blocked my number:)
I popped in for some ice cream last night. The lady behind the counter was very helpful, very friendly and professional, and the ice cream is delicious too! I highly recommend coming back.
