It took 95 mins to get a simple burger menu which is insane and I needed to heat it as it was already very cold.
Burger-pretty average, not the worst I have eaten but not a good burger as well as I would like to order again
Fries-not crispy
Overall, dont recommend to order from this place at all
As a university food court, De Refter is frankly good; ample indoor seating always available; a notable variety of food items to choose from; quick service; neat and tidy at all times; friendly, helpful personnel in all food stations; lively vibe during lunchtime and cozy feel in the afternoons and around evenings; nice atmosphere overall; also has a cafe for warm drinks and coffee. However, prices could be regarded as a tiny bit steep; you'd expect lower prices for a student dining sevice; also, some of the dishes are either rather bland or a bit small in size compared to their price. Nonetheless, it's a great place overall to hang out, have a bit to eat, or even get some light work done.
We had made delicious stew at home, and of course, that calls for real fries. Fries for the second time this week, but oh well, it's vacation. The second time you become a kidney patient on the spot due to the amount of salt on the fries. I decided to give the cafeteria a call anyway. They weren't going to do anything about it; that's how the fries were always made. We never had complaints before, but because they don't have anything gluten-free either, we have now said goodbye to this cafeteria for good.
We went here because there wasn’t much around the area and it was near where we were staying. Upon arrival we were told it was buffet that night and we couldn’t order a la carte. We probably should have checked the buffet before agreeing but we were hungry and tired and there wasn’t much else nearby.
The buffet was expensive, €25 a person. For what we paid it was pathetic. Here were the options:
- buns with butter
- small, relatively basic salad bar with a pasta salad, what looked like Greek salad, maybe egg salad, a few other things I couldn’t tell what they were, maybe salmon salad?, and then greens/veg with some dressing options
- a vegetable soup of some kind
- fried potato/tater tot things with no ketchup or mayo to be seen
- steamed/boiled carrots and peas, tasted like what happens when you steam/boil a bag of frozen veggies and do nothing else with them
- steamed broccoli, also without seasoning
- plain white rice
- some sort of fish steamed or baked in a whitish/yellow sauce (I don’t eat fish so I didn’t try it)
- meatballs
We were told everything would have labels to tell us what it was. That was not the case.
The meatball tray had like 3 meatballs left on it when we got there. My husband took them. There were not too many people in the restaurant. The tray was not replenished for at least 15 minutes after it was emptied. It must have been low for at least a little while before we got there. Considering how few options they had it was rather surprising they weren’t more on top of replenishing the meatballs. Particularly since they were the only non-seafood protein option. There were several people asking for them and waiting for them to come out by the time they were brought out. I have no doubt the tray was empty again within a few minutes.
The dessert options were fine. There was some fruit salad, yogurt, a cake and some whipped cream-thing. But I didn’t exactly feel satisfied when we left.
The cocktails were good but expensive. €14.50 for a mojito.
I wouldn’t go back to eat a la carte because I don’t have high hopes for the food based on what we got at the buffet.
It was so crowded that you couldn't even sit inside. There was also a long line at the drive-through. We ordered our food inside and ate it in the car.
Ordered take away from this place before their closing time and they rang me back after their closing time, stating that the order "came in late" (after their closing time).
Was really looking forward to some good Chinese food this, just dissapointed that it never got delivered.
Other restaurants are closed by now, so thanks for nothing.
