Nona - Italian enthusiasm and love
After more than a year of waiting, we finally succeeded, a reservation at Nona in The Hague! Nona is a Sicilian restaurant and it has almost become a sport to reserve a table. There are 12 spots available per evening and new dates are released once every few months. I have sat behind the laptop and app several times when I knew that spots would become available again. Not yet possible for 4 people, but finally possible for 2! Sorry Vic and Vin.
We managed to get a bar table and I was still unsure whether that was the right spot or whether we should try again at another time, but I really wanted to after all the stories I had heard and reviews. that I had read! I also read that the bar table would actually be the best place. That was certainly the case for us! It's so nice to have a look behind the scenes at Julia's kitchen! The restaurant is attractive with a personal touch.
She and her partner organized the evening and it was a party from start to finish! You will be received with great pleasure, you will feel like you are visiting loving family! Every plate is a pleasure for the eyes and the stomach. Love ultimately passes through the stomach. The matching Italian wines complete the festive evening.
We started with a glass of prosecco, accompanied by green olives, capers, pecorino and salty snacks with, we think, anise.
The first dish is artichokes with cockles, oh my goodness, so delicious!
The second dish, a pasta so creamy and delicious, with a hint of salt from the anchovies.
We were allowed to choose the third dish, Tim had the veal cheek that had been sitting all day and I had the squid. Of course we tasted each other and both were tasty and tender. With a sandwich we could eat the sauce even further by dipping.
The fourth course, the dessert to share. Sweets and pistachio were central, delicious!
If we can get a spot again next year, we will definitely come back and hopefully get a table for 4.
Our expectations were high and we were afraid they were too high, but nothing could be further from the truth, our expectations were more than exceeded! 6 out of 5 stars as far as we are concerned!
We paid €250.40 excluding tip for a 4-course menu with matching wines, sparkling water and coffee.
I visited the restaurant for lunch and was pleasantly surprised by the excellent quality and service. Two points of concern: my patio chair seemed dry, but after lunch my pants were very wet. The restrooms are really too dark. Black toilet paper is a matter of taste, but too little light is definitely not okay.
I loved every single minute I’ve spent in this place. Amazing views, lovely staff and delicious food.
I absolutely loved the oyster mushoom with aubergine and zucchini and the last desert kind lf sorbete.
What delicious and honest dishes Abbas puts on the table! Leave the menu alone, chef. Everything is fresh and the flavors are balanced. The portions are generous (another feast at home tomorrow). Thank you very much and see you next time. Greetings “Sister”.
A beautiful, pleasant, informal spot. Delicious lunch dishes with bread from the bakery and tasty cheeses or other toppings. I had homemade hummus with roasted vegetables, and my parents had scrambled eggs with salmon and the tasting menu. All three of us enjoyed a delicious meal. You have to order inside, but it's brought to your table. There's a lovely flower and vegetable garden nearby that you can stroll through. Lovely spot.
