Ordered two poke bowls and a bubble tea. It arrived 40 minutes later than the maximum delivery time indicated on Thuisbezorgd.
The rice had turned into rice porridge and was soaked in soy sauce. The containers were also very greasy on the outside and smelled strongly of fish. Almost as if they did this on purpose? The wrong bubble tea was delivered, and the tapioca was a large block instead of individual balls.
Upon arrival, we immediately thought: what a beautiful location! We received a friendly welcome and started the evening on a positive note. We were quickly given drinks, the menu, and a bread board. Because we only had an hour and a half for the starter and main course, we asked if this was feasible. This was confirmed.
Shortly after ordering, the chef arrived at the table: two of the four dishes we chose were unavailable. A shame, but okay. We replaced one dish with something else from the menu, and for the other, the chef suggested creating something new—fine.
After a good 30 minutes, the starters arrived. Due to the time constraints, we immediately asked if the main courses could be served immediately afterward. I had the steak tartare: well-balanced in terms of taste and price, and generously served. My partner had a vegetarian goat cheese salad, which was very disappointing: mainly lettuce with a few pieces of tomato and goat cheese, lacking inspiration, and absolutely not worth the price. Especially compared to the generous steak tartare, which cost the same. The chef politely apologized. Because my partner had barely eaten anything, we asked if the dish could be taken off the bill—in the end, we were given two drinks on the house.
The main courses didn't arrive for another 40 minutes. Once again, the difference in portions for the same price was immediately noticeable. My partner had the pea burger, I had the osso buco. The osso buco was ample in quantity, but it wasn't osso buco at all: it was lamb shank with two oven-baked tomatoes in a regular jus, undercooked baby potatoes, and overcooked vegetable garnish. The burger was even more disappointing: very fatty, browned to black, very crispy on the outside, and mealy on the inside. The fries, which were listed on the menu, turned out to be missing.
During the entire evening, no one came by to ask if everything was to our liking. We were practically alone and felt a bit lost.
When we saw the €100 bill, we were shocked. It was completely disproportionate to what we had received. We indicated that we didn't want to pay this amount. The chef came back and removed one starter and one main course from the bill. This felt like a reasonable compromise, but we still found the price-quality ratio very poor.
Overall, it was a disappointing experience. The location and atmosphere are beautiful, but the price, taste, portions, and service were completely out of balance. A shame, because the potential is definitely there.
My order was never delivered! After over an hour, I called and the delivery driver was supposedly on his way. After calling again after 15 minutes, they didn't answer. So they stole my money. Disgraceful people who work there.
Upon entering, it was clear they'd spent a lot of time creating a Christmassy atmosphere, but that's about it.
First, they asked if they wanted water (still or sparkling). Bottles were on the table. If you declined, the bottles were thrown away.
We came for the cheese fondue (which they boasted was from the best cheesemonger (apparently a cheese jeweler).
But it was lukewarm, insipid, and the size of a starter.
And when we complained, the response was that no one had complained about the product, and if I wanted more, I'd have to pay for it. There was no room for discussion. Besides the young waitstaff, I think the young woman in charge was incapable of making an acceptable decision on her own, other than simply coming over with a pen and paper to get a phone number.
Apparently, whoever put cheese fondue on the menu had never tasted the cheese fondue where it originated.
Ordered, only to be called to say it would be delayed because the delivery driver had an accident. Shouldn't 16-year-olds be allowed on e-bikes? The order arrived a little late, and part of it was missing. I tried calling, but they were suddenly unavailable. A terrible place.
Very aggressive owner of this business because wheelchair was in his parking space for less than 5 minutes staff too disgusting for words how they behave food is also very disgusting I would not let my dog eat it really heavy asso people would not eat or order from there
Recently we ordered a 4-course menu for 5 people via for over €150,=.
The first thing we noticed was that we did not get a description of how to heat everything.
In addition, we got a 'strip' of potato gratin or something like that, which did not have anything on it, but which was completely cold and therefore probably had to be heated up? And it was also not clear which dish it belonged to.
We also missed the prawn crackers with the satay and the spring vegetables, which belonged with the pork tenderloin and the salmon.
We did get a container of 'Beurre Blanc', which according to the menu on the website belonged to the sea bass, but we had not ordered sea bass.
Finally, we had heated the main courses in a preheated oven for 10 minutes at 180 degrees, as described on the lid.
Unfortunately, it turned out that when we were eating it, the salmon, the satay and the Villa burger were not cooked: see photos.
After we had passed on our complaints to the restaurant, it seemed that we would be compensated very nicely. We would be allowed to place another order and everything would then be taken care of down to the last detail. Nice and very neat, we thought.
But unfortunately: Only after passing on our new order, we were suddenly told that we still had to pay €12.50 per person when picking up the order. Strange course of events...
This was really the last time for us that we ever ate at Villa Velperweg.
We'd had a long day and still needed to order €40 worth of food. She initially wanted to charge €46, but I told her that wasn't right, and she said, "Sorry, you're right." We ordered a bowl of noodles with chicken (which was billed as a bowl of bami), but it ended up being just noodles. Incidentally, none of it was edible (I finished the bara-stuffed chicken because I was really hungry and ate as much as I could). We threw away almost everything else. I don't recommend eating here. The woman looked like a ghost/junkie, by the way.
We had a delicious meal, but what struck us most was the staff hovering behind the buffet while many tables were covered in dirty dishes from guests who had already left. They also made no effort to clear and clean those tables. There's a clear lack of direction from management and/or self-awareness from the staff. It certainly doesn't make a good impression.
