The food, as you might expect in the Netherlands, is expensive and mediocre, with the risk of giving you a stomach ache. The atmosphere is okay. The music is fun.
A tip for customer service: don't make people feel like complete idiots because they can't figure out from a vacuum that you're not being served here, but have to place orders via QR codes. When I ask, "Do I need an app for that?", it's not an answer but an insult to say, "Yes, you need an app for that." I understand you need an app. I ask if I need to download a specific app. I won't be back.
Aired here this afternoon. Let's get straight to the point... I got really sick from this. I had a club sandwich fish, but the fish was no longer good. I have been unwell all afternoon and I still don't feel 100%.
The club sandwich was already served on very warm toast, which ruined the freshness of the lettuce and fish. I understand that you are struggling with start-up problems, but this really isn't on guys. The other dishes were good.
And for the staff. Be a bit more active, more attentive, and don't take a waiting attitude. It comes across as if you are not interested in your customers and you don't want to make a name for yourself and go for it.
Come on, change course and who knows, I might come back again.
We've been waiting for our order for over an hour and a half! We've tried calling five times, but no answer...no service. Now let's hope the food is hot and tasty...
Strange incident: an older saleswoman, at her age, could use a customer service course. Customers are surprised by her responses to complaints. Her employer probably doesn't know what's happening in this store. People are returning with burnt snacks. It's not being resolved properly, or even not at all. I've lost my customer service as well.
I have to edit my review. Since today you have to pay 50 cents if you take your food with you? And it is a paper bag, how strange. Several businesses charge extra for plastic but not for paper? Eating it right away is free (is a plastic container). Never heard of it. The person behind me also preferred a plastic container. This was never the case before. Very strange. I am not too bad to ask for a little more but this is not okay
The food is getting worse every time; the quality is poor, it's poorly prepared, and the hygiene could be improved. A few years ago, it was much better, I have to say.
Informing beforehand helps, we arrived simply and hungry. When we entered the "actual" restaurant 1619 we asked for a table, unfortunately this was not possible with 3 people. Apparently only menu was offered. We were kindly recommended to go to the “next room” to eat a burger. For us, the atmosphere that was conveyed there was like being on the sidelines, the bar was deserted, no extra service for this "compartment", a few guests were sipping on their drinks and our table gave an idea of what the previous guests might have consumed. Who else should notice this? The very nice service lady who directed us to the Buurtjes room did not accompany us into it. The main focus of operations was obviously concentrated on the food menu in Restaurant 1619. So we continued our journey disappointedly and ate 900m further in the "Restaurant & Cafeteria 't S Kaffie". This means that I am unable to rate the cuisine of the menu and burger restaurant, which is a shame🤷🏻♂️
With my partner, sister, brother-in-law, and my 90-year-old father, who was eager to return to Bad Noord in Castricum aan Zee (because he regularly had coffee there with his late wife), we set off on foot from Camping Bakkum. It was a bit too far for him, but luckily, if he could still make it down the steep dune to the beach, he could relax downstairs with a cup of coffee and cake. Arriving on the terrace, the five of us sat down at a large table, looking forward to it. Because we were looking straight into the toilet with the door open, my partner pulled it closed a bit. After a few minutes (we hadn't gotten anything yet), my father started to feel cold and wanted to move to another table, which we did. Someone who later turned out to be the owner spoke to my partner, lacking any communication skills and even appearing somewhat threatening. He complained about the chairs he hadn't neatly put back at the table and the toilet door we'd pulled closed a bit. According to him, we had changed everything, and he clearly disagreed, saying, "You can put that back properly now." Because we were completely unaware of any wrongdoing and felt very offended by this, as if we were teenagers again, we ignored this request. This person then told us he was the owner and that we would no longer be served. He angrily walked over to his staff and ordered them not to serve us. All that was left was for my now exhausted and devastated 90-year-old father to resume his journey back to the campsite. What should have been a pleasant family outing had ended very unpleasantly for my father, among others. He actually only had fond memories of the place he loved to visit with my mother, but the feeling wasn't mutual.
The "hot" chocolate had little flavor and was lukewarm.
The croquettes were also, unfortunately, very lukewarm. The carrot cake tasted mostly sweet: not much flavor.
A shame, because the restaurant looks very cozy.
We were passing through on 26/12/25 at around 7 p.m. We were treated rudely at the first window. I will never go there again, nor will any of my friends.
