I'm giving it 5 stars because we went to see the World Cup match and our team won, plus the atmosphere was great fun, the waiters were very attentive and the food was delicious, overall we left very satisfied.
We had a wonderful evening at Tante Roosje with my father and sister. The staff was friendly and pleasant, and the atmosphere was great. That is precisely why we find it so unfortunate that our evening ended so unpleasantly because of the restroom attendant.
I gave her a €2 coin and asked if she could give me change. She indicated that the change was on top of the saucer, while she was sitting downstairs due to the heat. However, after my visit to the restroom, it turned out there was no change at all. When I pointed this out, she suddenly said that “a whole evening costs €5”. When I pointed out that I had only been to the restroom once (at €0.50), she subsequently claimed that I had only given her €0.50.
I was truly stunned and even started to doubt myself. Fortunately, my sister was standing right there and could confirm that I had indeed given €2, because she only had €2 coins in her bag. Eventually, with a lot of effort and a rather arrogant attitude, we got our €1.50 back. What makes it even stranger is that my father had already given €2 just before that and said that change wasn't needed. It felt to us as if there was a deliberate attempt to withhold €1.50. Moreover, we were among the first guests of the evening, so there was no rush or confusion.
Once again: we are very enthusiastic about the café itself and the rest of the staff. But this experience with the restroom attendant has unfortunately left a bad taste in our mouths. We hope the owner takes this seriously, because this is no way to treat guests.
If you are looking for one of the best places for real Turkish kebab in Amsterdam, Kebapci Amsterdam is highly recommended. From the moment you enter, you are welcomed warmly and can taste the authentic Turkish atmosphere.
The kebab is deliciously prepared, perfectly seasoned, and grilled the way it should be. What makes this place extra special are the complimentary appetizers you receive beforehand. The fresh çiğköfte, salad, and warm bread ensure the meal gets off to a great start immediately. Everything tastes fresh and is prepared with care.
The portions are generous, the quality of the meat is excellent, and the service is fast and welcoming. The restaurant is known for its Turkish grilled dishes and is appreciated by many visitors for its authentic flavors and good service.
In short: delicious food, generous service, and a warm atmosphere. A perfect place for anyone who loves real Turkish kebab. I love coming back here again and again and definitely recommend it to friends and family!
The only place that puts pumpkin in that thing. Nowhere else in Amsterdam does it like Sem does!!! Don't sleep on that bomba pumpkin. Furthermore, the two secret ingredients are top-notch, and Sem rolls his roti "envelope" with military precision. Definitely coming back here again.
I was determined to visit Reggae Rita's on our trip to Amsterdam from the UK - I was not disappointed! The food was top quality. I had the curry goat meal and my partner had the brown stew chicken meal - authentic jamaican cooking at its finest. Rita and her son are just lovely people. The whole experience was fantastic.
The cocktails at the Labyrinth bar were delicious too! Great atmosphere, reminds me of a jazz club.
Highly recommend that if you are in Amsterdam you visit. Hidden gem! Thank you.
Central location near the palace. The restaurant is worn out. The food is not bad, but they put too much cheese on the pizza in my opinion. The price is unjustifiably high.
Absolute banger!!!
Best authentic, original Moroccan Mint Tea in Amsterdam. Beef Tagine was full of flavour and the beef was so tender.
Tagine Kefta was sensational as well.
Their Mesamn with Honey and cheese? No words could describe it.. Will be back soon no doubt
