De beste restaurants in Amsterdam

Haven't had lunch in such a beautiful setting in a long time. With the €9.50 Social Deal, it was absolutely AMAZING. Oh, they do speak English in 'Ons Huis'... well, Amsterdam, right?

People inside were super polite and sweet. And i can say the same about the food! Especially the wings were fabulous!!! Highly recommended!

We followed my iPhone directions exactly and could not find any restaurant in that immediate area serving Chinese cuisine. There was one drink and snack place in the building, so I can only surmise that the Dim Sum listing refers to a district where that type of cuisine is served. Very unhappy and found a Thai restaurant serveral blocks away. We were exhausted walking!

Recently we went to Amsterdam as a group of friends and went to this restaurant for dinner one night. Upon entering the restaurant, we were immediately hit with a wonderful aroma. We were given menus, explaining the origin of the name of the restaurant - an empire that used to rule Ethiopia years back. We were taken to a table by a wonderful, friendly gentleman. We ordered two bottles of tej (honey beer), with each bottle having a capacity of 1L (enough for four bottles). I would highly recommend trying the tej. Five of us ordered the Axum special (pictured) and one of us ordered the vegetarian special. The five Axum specials were served on a single plate for us to share (although don’t worry, the plate was split into sections so it was clear what belonged to who!). The food was absolutely amazing!! The meats came in a diverse selection, were perfectly seasoned, and the texture was fabulous. The side dishes that came with our meal were equally impressive, most notably the Ethiopian cottage cheese and green herbs. The gentleman who served us also gave us some extra injera pancakes. All in all, this was a wonderful introduction to Ethiopian food, and I would highly recommend coming to Axum if you have the time! (P.S. for those interested in prices - we paid €19 for a bottle (fles) of tej; €23.50 for a single Axum special; €20.50 for a vegetarian special)

We walked in hoping to enjoy some good Indonesian-Chinese food, but unfortunately, this was one of the most disappointing meals of our entire trip, from Germany all the way to Amsterdam. The staff were not helpful when we asked for recommendations or for their best dishes. We had been sightseeing and walking for a long time, looking forward to a good Asian meal, only to end up extremely disappointed. The fried rice had a very strong pork smell, and the overall taste was far below what we expected. As Malaysians, we are very familiar with Asian flavours, satay, noodles, and fried rice, so this was especially disappointing for us. What made the experience even worse was our interaction with the lady at the counter. When we tried to give honest feedback about the food, she was very rude, defensive, and unwilling to listen to our comments. Instead of acknowledging our concerns or trying to understand our experience, she simply dismissed the feedback. In our opinion, she seriously needs better customer-service training. And then came the very expensive bill more than RM300. We paid that much for food that we simply could not enjoy. After walking and sightseeing for so long, we were hungry and had hoped for a good meal, but unfortunately, we ended up extremely disappointed. Sadly, this was the worst food experience of our entire trip. We came expecting a satisfying Indonesian-Chinese meal and left feeling very disappointed. Highly not recommended, especially for Asian diners who are familiar with authentic Asian flavours.

This was a terrifying experience. I'm pretty sure I had carbon monoxide poisoning while eating in this restaurant. TLDR: Overall the food was tasty but this restaurant has so many red flags that the building isn't maintained and there are corners being cut on safety and cleanliness. Detail: Initially, I had some cleanliness concerns: The soap dispenser didn't work at the only sink in the bathroom and there was no other soap. Also the women's bathroom light was broken so you had to use the men's or lock yourself in a pitch black bathroom. But, the chicken was moist and delicious. While eating I suddenly got extremely nauseous and lightheaded. I was extremely confused and out of it. I fainted at least once, maybe twice (my husband caught me) in my seat. Then the fire alarm went off and I stumbled out of the restaurant. In the fresh air I quickly started feeling better. There was smoke coming from the back of the restaurant and the alarm kept going off.

The place was closed while stated to be open and it looked really not in use for a while, but next to the Mosk os a nice lunchroom with great coffee and matcha and great lunch menu. Great find.

It's a shame this bakery went bankrupt because it was the best. "Bread factory" was a forbidden word there, but in reality, it was. I was fortunate enough to work there for 10 years as a weekend driver and substitute driver, much to their and my satisfaction. It also helped me build my nest egg for 10 years, which came in very handy a few years later when the banking crisis hit in 2008 and my business practically ground to a halt. The bankruptcy of Bartels Bakery is deeply saddening to me.

We order our cakes from Kaandorp Bakery. And year after year, they turn the cake into beautiful works of art. Anything is possible; they think along with you to find solutions—what sweethearts. Our compliments to Marcel and Anja; what fantastic pastry chefs.

Alright wine but the guy serving had a face like a slapped arse on a cold day. Honestly made me feel like a slapped arse on a cold day. Best part of the visit was there was a little dog outside and I sat looking at it and we proper locked eyes for absolutely ages, it was pretty weird.

Highly recommended Genever hideout.

Had a beer and a cocktail. Staff is fast and nice. Next time I will eat here too.
