Their kebabs make your mouth explode with favor. Perfect combination of meat and the spicy sauce brings it together so nicely. The kapsalon is almost as great.
On top of that the price does not get better in 2026’s economy.
The people there are great and nice with you whether it’s 1AM or 1PM.
I’ve been going there since October 2025 regularly and it never disappoints.
Miami Chicken, you’re the best.
We come here every few years. The whole park desperately needs a makeover.
The restaurant is awful. I ordered fish and chips. They used to serve a real fish fillet in batter, fried in the classic way. The other day, I got two frozen cubes, deep-fried to death, so the so-called fish in batter was incredibly dry. You can't really go wrong with fries, and those were okay. They were lacking salt. The remoulade was from the store aisle, as you know. And the lemon wedge was a joke. I complained, but they didn't remove the dish from the bill. I suggested the kitchen try eating it themselves.
At other tables, I saw Wiener schnitzel, also deep-fried, which was so curled up on the outside that it looked like soup plates. And dry.
Open until 9 p.m., but orders only until 7 p.m. The snack bar is the same.
The pizzeria is closed.
The staff was extremely slow despite almost no customers. But they were mostly friendly.
The prices are unreasonably high compared to the quality of the food.
My fish cost €24. That was reasonable for what I expected, but €24 was too much for the "food" that was delivered.
A shame.
Unfortunately, we arrived to find the doors closed again, even though Google Maps indicated it should be open. We drove about 40 km specifically for this. There was no sign on the door, no information on site indicating it was closed. Very disappointing.
Picked up at an original Chinese restaurant in Ulvenhout. (Where can you still find those....!? ) Apparently due to the busyness at pickup, my order (Singapore rice noodles) took a bit longer to arrive... The food was very good (and worth the longer wait). I received prawn crackers as compensation...
We ate at De Chinese Muur with a friend of ours, ordering a Peking duck menu and a 2-person menu for 42 euros all-inclusive. Noodles or rice. We wanted rice noodles instead... turned out to be an extra charge of 6 euros p.p., which is outrageously expensive for the 2 mini bowls we received... there should have been at least 3 (3 people)... you get the rice anyway... but not the noodles, so 18 euros extra is very expensive for what you get. A small surcharge would have been more appropriate. The food was quite tasteless. It was super messy inside and, above all, not very clean. All stock and utensils were visible behind open curtains. Also, behind the bar, entire stocks, plates, cups, etc. were piled up. All in all, NOT worth repeating!!!!
For the umpteenth time delivered more than an hour later than communicated due to staff shortage. Annoying, but adjust the delivery times to a realistic estimate.. Read: 1.5 to 2 hours..
Letdown: dangerous allergy mistakes and lack of hospitality.
Last Saturday evening, my girlfriend and I settled in here. Since the establishment has been taken over by a descendant of the Van der Valk family, we were curious about the new direction. Unfortunately, the experience turned out to be a disappointment.
My girlfriend has a severe paprika allergy that can make her extremely ill. This was communicated in advance during the online reservation, repeated at the reception, and explicitly mentioned again to the waiter at the table. Despite this, the main course was simply served *with* paprika. Another waiter confirmed that it was on the bill, but that it had simply been overlooked in the kitchen and by himself. A downright dangerous mistake. What makes it even worse is that no effort was subsequently made to rectify this with a simple gesture such as a cup of coffee or a glass of wine.
Apart from this incident, we never truly felt like guests for a single moment. There was no focus on the experience or hospitality, and the dishes were nothing special either; it was absolutely not 'preparé avec amour', as one might expect here. Moreover, when things quieted down later in the evening, the atmosphere changed due to the loud shouting and joking of the chefs from the open kitchen.
De Rietschans has traditionally had a chic appearance with matching, steep prices. That reputation, the quality of the food, and the pricing are absolutely not being lived up to in this way. The establishment visibly lacks firm management. From now on, they will really have to pull out all the stops, otherwise they won't make it. Our conclusion? You are better off going to a regular Van der Valk restaurant: proven dishes, appropriate service, and at a normal price. We won't be seen here again anytime soon.
